“Ava, what do you want me to do?” Beatrice asked. Clearly, the question was meant to be rhetorical, but Ava took it to heart.
What did she want Beatrice to do? Entertain her? Cure her boredom? Keep talking in that alluring British accent until Ava fell asleep? No, none of those options seemed like viable answers. Beatrice had always been a no-bullshit, straight-to-the-point kind of person, which just so happened to be something Ava appreciated about her.
Beatrice asked her a question, so Ava had no choice but to answer.
“Actually…can I ask you a favor?”

Ava needs a date and Beatrice is the girl she occasionally shares a class with in college. They’re friends…kind of…okay, more like casual study-buddies who don’t even know the most basic things about one another, but Ava can’t think of anyone else that can help her. Ava needs a favor, and Beatrice is her only option. -
