Chapter 1: The Sole Survivor

Chapter Text

Excerpt from Honolulu Police Department Report, filed 11/01/2025
Case No.: 471957

On 1 November, 2025, I was dispatched to the house of 27-year-old Hannah Fisher at 10:53 a.m. She had called a few minutes earlier and, in a rather matter-of-fact manner, explained that she had been staying silent about a massacre that occurred on the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji over a year prior. Suspicions arose of her having a mental break, though they were proven incorrect once we actually made it to her house. Her calm demeanor from moments ago had changed into a hysteric one, and she sat on a black leather sofa being comforted by her wife, 26-year-old Jesi Fisher.

Once Mrs. Fisher was calmed down, Officer McCade and I inquired about this alleged massacre, but we were able to make out very few details because of her uncontrollable crying. Most notably, we were able to gather that she witnessed this massacre whilst on the set of season 47 of the reality television program Survivor, and that she had contact with a producer who could back her claims up. Her wife had to repeatedly tell us to go easy on her. After we managed to reason with her, she was taken in for an interview.

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: Hello, Hannah. Do you know why you are here today?

[Mrs. Fisher does not respond for several seconds]

Interviewer: You're only here because we want to help you. I take it you called 911 claiming you were a witness to a massacre that occurred during the filming of Survivor 47.

[Mrs. Fisher nods silently]

Interviewer: I see. And you were on the Sanu tribe, right?

Mrs. Fisher: Yes...

Interviewer: According to you, the massacre started at the first Tribal Council. Could you explain to me what happened? I'm not gonna pressure you, I'll give you time to think, and just let me know the moment you get uncomfortable.

[Mrs. Fisher does not respond for several seconds]

Interviewer: Hannah?

Mrs. Fisher: [Mrs. Fisher wipes tears and begins to answer while whimpering] I- I'll answer [...] I noticed that Jeff, Mr. Probst, the host of the show, he was very excited once we got to the beach when the first challenge started, but we didn't think anything of it. I was placed on Sanu with 5 other people, Bethany was one of them-

Interviewer: Now, Bethany, that's the lady you said died first, right? Mrs. Campbell?

[Mrs. Fisher nods silently]

Interviewer: All right, do go on.

Mrs. Fisher: Well... the next, like, most important thing I remember is that my tribe lost the first challenge. I was crushed, we were all crushed, Bethany was sulking when Probst announced that we lost. Probst [...] he seemed very, like, paranoid? I'll never forget the way he looked at us after the challenge was over.

Interviewer: How did the other tribes react?

Mrs. Fisher: They were cheering... I don't resent them for it, they had no idea what was going to happen. I noticed that after we got back to camp, all the producers that were there filming seemed stand-offish in a way. Except for Scott-

Interviewer: And this Scott guy, he's the producer you say you're still in touch with, is that right?

Mrs. Fisher: Yes, that's correct.

Interviewer: All right, thank you.

Mrs. Fisher: So... Scott, I felt like he was trying to communicate with me but it's like... He had the fear of God in him, like, whenever another producer would look at him. I knew something was up but I could've never predicted what happened when we finally got to Tribal Council. It seemed as though they were relieved we were about to be left with just Probst.

It never should've happened. What was supposed to be another fun, action-packed season of America's favorite reality show turned into a tragedy in the blink of an eye, and none of the unsuspecting castaways could've seen it coming. Probst knew. Probst was excited for it, for reasons no one could explain. Did the producers know? The cameramen? The interns? Yes. Every last one of them knew. Their sheer cowardice stopped them from saving seventeen innocent lives. And even after they deliberately chose not to prevent the massacre, they stayed silent for over a year, until one brave soul came forward, which she couldn't have done without the help of one unsuspecting producer who had only gotten the job recently. It's like fate.

15 April 2024. The eighteen victims-to-be were all anxiously awaiting the marooning, sitting around in a tiny ship compartment which contained bottled water, vomit bags, and not much else apart from flimsy chairs. Young Hannah Fisher was doing what everyone else was, sitting next to a window with her head leaning on the glass, observing the untamed waves of the deep blue abyss below them, trying to look small and unthreatening but secretly analyzing everyone and everything.

As she fiddled with her bright orange-yellow bag with her as-of-yet unnamed tribe's emblem on it, she quietly observed the other castaways. Although she didn't know who she was going to be on a tribe with yet, she noticed that five other people were dressed similarly to her. Hannah was wearing dark orange, almost brownish cargo pants and a pale yellow shirt with an orange vest over it. The five who caught her eye were dressed in similar shades of orange, yellow, and brown, so she was able to recognize her soon-to-be tribemates. She tried to get a read on them but she had nothing to base her opinions off of, so she just sat in her seat and thought about her life back home.

Hannah had left behind her wife of 3 years, Jesi, and a dog named Jennah, the first thing she bought with Jesi after they got married. She played with her long, smoky black hair as she longigly looked out the window, already missing Jesi and Jennah, and her friends back in Hawaii. She was excited to be one of the first people in Survivor history to represent Hawaii, though she wasn't Hawaiian herself, being a third-generation Japanese immigrant.

Though she was proud of her Japanese heritage, Hannah chose not to go by her family name (Namura) after deciding to marry Jesi, due to her parents disowning her after she came out as bisexual. While thinking of her home, Hannah's mind immediately flashed back to her wedding, where she was surrounded by her friends, whereas Jesi was surrounded by her family. It was at this moment she knew she would be a Fisher and not a Namura for the rest of her life.

Tears started welling up in Hannah's chocolate brown eyes after getting lost in thought, but she took a deep breath and tried to focus on the game, and just in time too, as the ship had just stopped.

"Everybody, report to the deck!" shouted a booming male voice with a thick southern accent. All the contestants gathered their gear and put their game faces on, then made their way to the deck, with the same man from a moment ago directing them to their tribe mats. "Hannah Fisher, Bethany Campbell, Tora Jackson, Jake Camden, Michael Muro, Al Simmons, I'm gonna need y'all to stand on the orange mat on the far left. No talking yet, Jeff will be with y'all in a moment!"

The now-established Sanu tribe stood on their mat, the three girls in the front and the men behind them. Despite being told not to communicate, handshakes and greetings quickly began between the six tribe members. The producer, still calling out for other contestants, was clearly within earshot but he didn't tell them to stop at all.

Interviewer: He just let y'all talk?

Mrs. Fisher: Yeah, this must've been a common occurrence.

Interviewer: You think so? Or did he just not care because he knew what was about to happen?

Mrs. Fisher: I didn't... think about that, not at all.

Hannah stood between the two other women on her tribe. To her left was a black woman who stretched her arm out to Hannah before anyone else. "Hey! What's your name?" she asked enthusiastically. Hannah already liked the vibe she was getting from her. "I'm Hannah! And you?"

"I'm Bethany," she said. "Nice to meet you, where are you from?" asked Hannah. "I'm from New Jersey, and you?" answered Bethany.

"I'm from Hawaii," responded Hannah, before being met with a confused and surprised expression from Bethany. Hannah chuckled, "I expected someone to question me," she said, making Bethany let out a laugh as well. "See, my grandparents migrated here from Japan." Bethany nodded, clearly already intrigued to learn more about Hannah. The younger, shorter girl to Hannah's right joined their conversation after she was done conversing with the young, handsome man behind her. She could barely contain her excitement, it seemed as though a romance was already blooming.

"Hiiiii," she shouted energetically, reaching her hand out, "I'm Tora, and you are?" Tora was clearly a raging extrovert, the comparatively quiet Hannah was already feeling intimidated. "I'm Hannah, pleased to meet you," she said. Tora gripped her hand and shook it, "Likewise, Hannah! And you?" she asked, looking at Bethany. Bethany introduced herself and Tora similarly shook her hand. "Where are you from, honey?" asked Bethany in a motherly way. "Florida! I swear I'm not as crazy as everyone else there is, though!" yelled Tora, almost cackling. Hannah and Bethany simply smiled, the former was enchanted by Tora's energy, while Bethany barely hid her annoyance.

Mrs. Fisher: I really... I still miss both of those girls. Bethany had two children and a cat back home, which she left with her own parents. Apparently, she'd had a divorce a couple years prior. She was doing well for herself too, she was an insurance broker. Tora wasn't doing as well, she was drowning in student loans, but she was such a happy soul, you'd never be able to tell how much she was going through... She had so much ahead of her.

[Mrs. Fisher begins to cry and the interviewer lets her be for several seconds]

"So where are you two from?" asked Tora. "Oh, I'm from Hawaii, but my family is from Japan!" answered Hannah. Tora's eyes lit up at the mention of Japan. "Yo, no way! I have two cousins who look just like you!" Hannah chuckled, and Bethany interjected, "And I'm from New Jersey."

"Oh, the lucky state! Exactly seven finalists come from there!" Bethany chuckled at Tora's statement. "Look at you, little super-fan!" Tora laughed aloud. "I have to say," she started, "I think we are definitely the hottest tribe." She was clearly eyeing the man she was talking to earlier, despite being within his eyesight and completely audible. Hannah and Bethany didn't expect such a sudden change of subject, and they didn't react. "Don't you agree?" asked Tora. "Well, I'm married, so..." said Hannah, awkwardly chuckling. "And we're also both probably too old for the boy you're clearly ogling," said Bethany before bursting into laughter. The tall man behind Tora held his hand over his mouth, clearly pretending not to be listening in and laughing. Tora's excitement quickly faded away as she started blushing.

Their illegal conversation was abruptly interrupted by the producer from earlier. He had finished the roll call, and started making his way toward the middle of the deck. "All right, Survivors," he started shouting, "Jeff will be with you all shortly, everybody be patient and stay still, thank you!"

Mrs. Fisher: I wish I had magic foresight... That almost sounds like a warning now, looking back.

Chapter 2: The Marooning

Chapter Text

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher's wife, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: Hello, Jesi, I assume your wife's already told you why we need to interview you.

Jesi: Yes, you think she's a nut and need to talk to me about it.

Interviewer: Mrs. Fisher, this will go a lot smoother for all of us if you drop the attitude, all right?

Jesi: Understood.

Interviewer: Good. Now, what went through your mind when she told you the story?

Jesi: I was... I was shocked. She told me right after I picked her up from the airport and she was bawling her eyes out. It sounded unbelievable but I know how Hannah is when she lies, she gets all stiff and nervous, but she was bawling her eyes out the entire drive home. I had to believe her-

Interviewer: You didn't suspect that she maybe had a mental breakdown or something?

Jesi: She doesn't, or didn't, suffer from any sort of mental illness, I didn't think it for a second. Now she has PTSD which she's been seeing a therapist for, though she's neglected to mention the massacre to her.

Interviewer: Are you the only one she's told about this?

Jesi: Only me and this camera guy, uh-

Interviewer: Scott?

Jesi: Yes, Scott. Only we know, but Scott advised her to wait until her NDA expired before coming forward because we could get in a ton of trouble.

Interviewer: Do you agree with that? Waiting until the contract was void?

Jesi: No, he told us over the phone and I damn near threw it at a wall when he told us to wait. It's like... Seventeen innocent people lost their lives, almost made me think he was in on it.

Interviewer: You know for a fact that he wasn't?

Jesi: Well, I know he knew it would happen, he admited to it, but he tried to warn Hannah, and apparently he tried to warn other cast members too. The producers wouldn't let him, though, they watched him like hawks.

Interviewer: Why do you think the producers wanted it to happen?

Jesi: I have no clue, though that Probst has an iron grip on each and every single one of them, I assume he must've snapped and all the producers went along with it out of fear.

Interviewer: Can you understand why we're skeptical?

Jesi: I guess.

Interviewer: But Hannah, she mentioned Scott could back her claims up. If you have any way for us to get ahold of Scott, that'd be greatly appreciated, because some evidence would definitely help Hannah's case.

Jesi: See, Scott and Hannah got super close, they used to talk, like, every day for months after she got back home, he had to keep reassuring her he would back her up when she came forward. Eventually he stopped responding to her calls, though, we haven't been able to reach him for almost a year now.

[The Interviewer gives Jesi a suspicious stare]

Jesi: Listen, I know it sounds awfully convenient, but I swear, on all that is holy, my wife and I are telling you the truth. We have no idea where Scott went, though. Hannah thinks the producers might've silenced him. I told her he's probably gone into hiding and will come out when we're ready to come forward... I almost convinced myself of that but I know she's probably right.

Interviewer: Listen, Mrs. Fisher, it sounds like you and your wife are weaving a pretty intricate web, or you've both gone mad.

[Jesi forcefully exhales and rolls her eyes]

Interviewer: None of this adds up, why would you come forward without the only person who could prove anything?

Jesi: Because seventeen people are dead!

Interviewer: You might be surprised to find out we've not received any missing person's reports for any of those people's families.

Jesi: I'm not, one of the last things Scott ever told us was that the producers notified every contestant's family that this season's sequester would be longer due to the reemergence of COVID in Fiji... which was a lie.

Interviewer: Now-

Jesi: I know you don't believe that either but it's true!

Interviewer: Jesi, listen! I don't buy what you and your wife are trying to sell, but I believe there's something to it. Either you two are en route to an Academy Award or you've both gone mad, because neither of you are showing any sign of lying... We'll try and get ahold of Scott on our own time and see if he can corroborate any of what you're saying because I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Can you give me his number if you still have it?

Jesi: Hannah does, I'll text her right now and ask for it.

Interviewer: All right, if you two somehow get him to reappear, let him know we'd like to have a word.

"Welcome to Survivor 47!"

Jeff stood in the middle of the ship deck, with his hands on his hips, wearing his signature white hat, dark blue shirt, beige cargo shorts and white tennis shoes. A botox-enhanced pearly white smile beamed from his face and his tall, muscular stature exuded confidence and commanded every castaway's respect. Cheers and claps soon broke out among the tribes, before subsiding and allowing the typical mat chat at the start of every season to begin.

"Gentleman on the left, what's your name?" asked Jeff, pointing to the handsome man Tora was already in love with. "Camden," he answered, "my first name is Jake but you can call me by my last name like you do all the best players." Laughter erupted from every side of the ship, including Jeff's. Tora had to hold back a swoon as she turned to Hannah and whispered, "How cute is he?"

Hannah snickered. She was turned off by Camden's cockiness, he reminded her of some of her least favorite players from seasons past, but she let Tora have her moment instead of ruining it.

"Camden," Jeff said gravelly, "I had a feeling you were a super fan, clearly I was right." The laughter that had just dissipated started again, as Camden began to answer. Hannah wasn't terribly interested in hearing what he had to say, not like Tora, she was too lost in her own thoughts to focus. Being on Survivor was her dream for 20 years, she could hardly believe she was here, making it a reality.

Jesi: You'd swear the universe was out to get her, that show was her whole life, now it's been reduced to a bad memory. A horrible, traumatic memory.

The mat chat went on for almost an hour, very different from how it looked on television. Hannah retained very little of it, barely even being mentally present for her own mat chat, but she was able to remember a little bit about her own tribemates. She didn't pay attention to what the other tribes were saying, though she was able to remember their names being Eori and Kadomo, and some of their members.

Interviewer: She told us about some other victims in addition to Mrs. Campbell, you wouldn't happen to know anything about them?

Jesi: No, but Scott was able to give us their ages, I remember, uh... This one girl, Hannah said she got a good vibe from her, Samantha Rose-

Interviewer: How old was Ms. Rose?

Jesi: Twenty-one, and she was a firefighter, and she lived in Boston.

Interviewer: Remember anyone else?

Jesi: Yes, Georgie Vondu, I can't remember where they were from but I think they were nineteen?

[The Interviewer continues writing down information as Jesi names other victims]

Jesi: Vivian Black from... Louisiana? Fifty-two, I believe? And Jennifer Vosrovna, she was forty, lived with her younger sister in Utah, I think, and she was transgender.

Interviewer: Remember anyone else?

Jesi: No, sorry, these were the only people from the other tribes that Hannah remembered. Scott showed us all the other people's names too but I can't remember them.

Interviewer: You have a picture of them or something? Maybe a cast sheet?

Jesi: No, only Scott does, he never sent it to us, guess we forgot to ask.

Once the mat chat was finally over, Jeff announced that it was time for the classic Race to Shore challenge. The eager castaways scattered around the ship like ants before anyone realized, grabbing supplies, fruits, chickens, and jumping to the water before Jeff even signaled it was time for that. Hannah got a little more time with one of her tribemates, 50-year-old Michael Muro, before it was time to jump off the ship. He was clearly a natural born leader, and a tough guy too, carrying mountains of fruit and materials and helping everyone gather important supplies. "Hannah! I need your help!" he called out for her with a thick Puerto Rican accent, somehow already having remembered her name despite only hearing it twice.

"Yes?" Hannah asked breathily, quickly making her way to the ship railing where the tribe's raft was hanging. "We're gonna have to jump soon, you mind going down with the raft and catching our stuff?" Hannah's upper body strength left something to be desired, so she didn't mind taking a backseat. "Of course! Give me the machete!"

Michael chopped his side of the raft then carelessly tossed it to Hannah, with the sharp side almost stabbing her in the heart. She flipped it around to make the sharp side face the sea, almost dropping it, but she chopped it and then jumped off the boat with it. Michael didn't even wait a second to start throwing his items overboard. "Look out below, Hannah!" he shouted before throwing an entire bag of rice right next to her head. Small boxes and fruit rained around Hannah before she even had time to compose herself. She managed to hold it all on the raft and shouted at Michael to get more supplies, trying to hide the fact that she was obviously shaken up. "Aye-aye!" he said. Hannah had clearly earned his respect.

Before Hannah even knew it, her tribemates had already jumped into the raft carrying supplies and making it overflow. They started rowing to their beach, with cheers and laughter nearly drowning out the waves of the sea.

Jesi: Hannah can't even go to the beach anymore... Every time she touches the sea, she imagines herself back on the raft, helping five other people row to their deaths.

Chapter Text

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Mrs. Fisher: Day 1 was probably the last day I ever felt safe, I keep going back to it when I zone out or try to sleep.

Interviewer: Why is that?

Mrs. Fisher: Why do I keep going back to it?

Interviewer: Yes.

Mrs. Fisher: I guess... guilt. I feel like I could've saved them with the knowledge I have now. When I flash back to it, I wanna reach inside my memory and tell all 5 of my tribemates that we need to run.

Interviewer: But you realize you couldn't've done anything, right?

Mrs. Fisher: Yes... Doesn't stop the intrusive thoughts... I've been trying to work on that.

Interviewer: Now, why was it the last day you felt safe?

Mrs. Fisher: By the time Day 2 came around, I think our impending doom finally sunk in for production. They got much more detatched, almost looked like they didn't wanna be there. They were so different compared to Day 1 when they seemed so excited for us.

Interviewer: Why do you reckon they felt excited?

Mrs. Fisher: I think they were just trying to distract themselves from the fact we were all going to be dead in 2 days, or at least were supposed to.

Interviewer: Can you tell me more what happened on Day 1?

Mrs. Fisher: It was surprisingly eventful for the first day but I remember it like it was yesterday...

When Sanu made it to the beach, loud cheers and greetings began, nearly drowning out the raging waves of the ocean. The moment their raft hit the shore, every tribemate chucked their oars onto the sand and jumped out immediately after, making small splashes in the shallow water. Hannah was the last to jump out, getting water and sand all over her orange sneakers and yellow sports socks, which she didn't mind since she hated them and only wore them to fit the assigned color scheme.

Hannah started strutting toward the forest with the rest of her tribe, standing next to Michael, the emerging tribe leader. "Stellar performance back there!" Michael said with a chuckle, lightly punching Hannah's shoulder. "Ow!" Hannah yelled, rubbing the spot Michael hit.

"Oh, come on," Michael said laughing, "no way that hurt you!" Hannah backhandedly slapped Michael's own shoulder and laughed. "It did a little bit!"

Michael reached his hand out. "Sorry I forgot to introcude myself, the name's Michael." Hannah reciprocated his handshake. "Hannah, though I guess you already know that."

By the time their conversation was over, the tribe had already made their way to a clearing which included bamboo sticks for them to make their shelter with. "I was always under the impression contestants had to find their own bamboo sticks!" shouted Tora, standing next to Bethany who was faking a smile, clearly already annoyed by her. "Guess things are different in reality compared to television," she said caustically.

Bethany, Tora, Hannah, Michael, and Camden were gathered in a semi-circle around a tribemate who hadn't made himself heard until now. "All right, Sanu," he said with a loud, echoing voice, radiating an energy that made everyone gravitate toward him, "are we ready to take over this game?"

Cheers started between the five other tribe members once again, as the man began to speak once again. "I think we should introduce ourselves before getting down to business, does that sound good?"

Mrs. Fisher: I already told you about Bethany and Tora. Camden, I remember, he was a college student from Colorado. Michael was 50 and a personal trainer, you'd never tell he was 50 by looking at him. He was Latino, I think, and he was living in Toronto. And Al, Alfred, he was 31 and was married with a kid.

Interviewer: Where was Al from?

Mrs. Fisher: Arizona, I believe.

Once the tribe was done introducing themselves, they began to work on their shelter. "I actually lived in Samoa for a year, so I know a little about surviving in the wilderness," said Al, before delegating duties for everyone. Hannah and Bethany were assigned firewood duty. While they were gathering firewood away from their tribe, Bethany whispered to Hannah, "He's already annoying me."

"Who, Al?" Hannah asked, to which Bethany nodded, saying, "Yes, he's already trying to take charge, and I don't love taking orders from men."

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/15/2024

Hannah: I was little weirded out by how open Bethany was about her feelings. Sometimes in Survivor you want to bite your tongue when someone's annoying you but Bethany was happy to make it known she was annoyed. I guess hiding how annoyed she was by Tora took too much out of her. I feel like it's only a matter of time before she says the wrong thing to the wrong person. I can't say I disagreed with her, though.

Scott: Tora and Al annoy you too?

Hannah: Oh, no, I love Tora, but I don't know how to feel about Al. He came on a little too strong right out the gate, and I don't like that, it's just too much.

Scott: Who, between the two, would you rather send home first?

Hannah: I haven't thought about who I'd send home first, it's a bit too early, I think.

Scott: Is there such a thing as too early in Survivor?

Hannah: Yes? Timing is half the battle in Survivor.

Scott: Don't get smart with me, Hannah, I can make them edit you into whatever I want.

[Hannah and Scott laugh in unison]

Hannah: I can act like a bitch when I'm tired and hungry, no editing required.

[Scott laughs as Hannah smiles and visibly blushes]

"He annoys me too, Beth, but let's keep that to ourselves right now." An evil smirk then emerged on Bethany's face as she carefully put the firewood she gathered on the ground. "Speaking of keeping things to ourselves," she said quietly while looking around to make sure no one was watching, "have you thought about looking for an idol?"

Hannah: Not only is she already sick of two people on our tribe, she's already wanting to look for idols! I'm like, "Girl, calm your jets! It's barely even been an hour since we hit the beach!"

Scott: Could that eagerness be an asset or a liability?

Hannah: It sucks because I like her, but I think she's gonna be a liability later. If she shows her cards to the other tribe members too soon, I could see her getting the ax first.

"I would love to find an idol, but I think we should wait until everyone's back at camp. I think Tora and Camden are looking for fruit... Or making out," said Hannah before bursting out laughing with Bethany. "Maybe they're doing both," said Bethany, through her laughter.

"Seriously, though, let's get back to camp before people assume we're up to something," said Hannah, which Bethany reacted to with a huff and an eye roll before crouching down to pick up the firewood and beginning to strut forward. Hannah knew Bethany was annoyed by her slower approach to the game, but she had to think about her game first.

The tension between Hannah and Bethany immediately evaporated when they made it back to camp and saw a meticulously made 5-star bamboo shelter with carefully placed palm fronds serving as a roof. "Oh my God, this looks amazing, are you seeing this Hannah?" Bethany shouted. "Wow, that looks amazing! How did you make it so fast?" asked Hannah, adoringly staring at the shelter like a child in a candy store.

"Al was right," answered Mike, "he really does know his way around a deserted island." Al chuckled as Bethany and Hannah nodded. "Have you two seen Tora and Camden?" asked Al.

"So, what do you do for a living?" asked Tora, trying to make conversation with her new crush while they searched for coconuts.

"I'm a college student, but I bartend on the side," answered Camden.

"You must be drowning in tips." Tora answered with a mile wide smirk on her face. Her excitement was palpable.

Hannah: Whenever Tora and Camden are in the same general area, Tora giggles like a little kid trying to play a game with their older siblings. I get that she's just eighteen and she's still sort of a child but one would sooner assume she's, like, ten, not eighteen.

Scott: Why do you think that is?

Hannah: Tora must've fallen in love the second we stepped on the boat, I wonder if she gets like this around guys she's into back home.

Scott: Do you think they have the potential to be a power couple?

Hannah: Power couple potential? Well...

Camden laughed, "What makes you think that?"

Tora stepped closer, almost giving Camden bedroom eyes. With a flick of the blonde hair over her shoulder and a subtle swing of her wide hips, she stepped closer to him. "Look at you, girls must trip over themselves wanting your attention," she explained, almost biting her lower lip off.

Camden took his eyes off the trees he was analyzing for coconuts and turned to Tora with a dimply grin exposing his perfect teeth. "I'm flattered, Tora, but you should know I have a partner," he explained, his voice deeper than it already was. His smile was noticeably forced at this point and the strongest force in the universe couldn't make him stop stroking his dark brown hair with his right hand which had a black bracelet on it. "Partner?" Tora's face still had a smirk on it.

"Yes, we've been dating for two yea-"

"So you're not married? Is that right?" The space between the two was getting smaller and smaller as the sound of leaves crunching beneath Tora's sandals broke the deafening silence. "Y-Yes, that's correct-"

"Well, in that case, you're not off the table yet." Tora left less than an arm's length of distance between her and Camden and soon the sound of leaves stopped as she reached for the collar on his button up shirt. The sound of cunrching leaves began yet again as Camden's bare feet crushed a small pile behind him, leaving a slightly bigger gap between the two. "So, is she pretty?"

"They are goergeous, Tora, can't imagine myself with anyone but them." Tora remained unconvinced. Her eyes were stapled to his, looking up at him as he practically towered over her. "You can't imagine yourself with anyone else... Have you tried?"

"Tora, please, you have to stop, let's just find these damn coconuts and get back to camp, the other four are probably already making an alliance to vote us out."

Tora tried to make one more move, but she was shot down quickly. "We could make our own alliance-"

"Please stop, Tora, it's not gonna work out." Camden then went off to look for coconuts, not paying attention to anything Tora did for the rest of their search.

Hannah: When Tora got back to camp, that happy-go-lucky girl from the boat was completely gone. Her and Camden dropped the coconuts they found into our shelter and then Camden asked if anyone wanted to go for a swim. Tora said she wanted to but he didn't say anything. Then I offered to and he was like, "Awesome, let's go," like Tora wasn't even there.

Scott: What do you think happened?

Hannah: She must've tried to make a move and he put her down. I think at one point he mentioned he had a partner back home. I can't imagine he let her down gently considering how down she's been but Tora strikes me as the type of girl to change her mood at the drop of a hat.

Scott: What do you make of the situation?

Hannah: So what you're saying is that I'm not wrong.

Scott: No, I'm not saying that.

Hannah: Well you're not denying it.

[Hannah laughs and Scott follows right after]

Hannah: Anyway... It's interesting, It's tough when you're into somebody who's taken, you can't just make your feelings go away, it's easier to say than to do. I mean, Camden is a good looking guy, his personality is another story but Tora's still young so I can understand why she can overlook that. I understand why he's so tempting to her, but I'd personally try to restrain myself. It'd be easy for me, though, I have a wife at home.

Scott: What if you were single? Would it be easy to fight your urges?

Hannah: At my age, yes, but at eighteen? It'd be tough.

Scott: You think it's something that goes away with age?

Hannah: The inability to control your urges? Absolutely something you lose when you get older.

Chapter 4: The Journey

Chapter Text

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/15/2024

Hannah: So, we were all under the impression that we'd get all of Day 1 to ourselves, you know, getting to know each other and getting our camp set up. But our roundtable about Michael's time serving in the millitary, and how much Al hates his wife, and Tora's Old Testament of a body count was interrupted by a boat.

Scott: What happened?

Hannah: Oh, like you don't already know!

[Scott and Hannah laugh]

Hannah: Basically, a boat came up to our beach and we were all like, "What's happening now?" We left camp and went down to the beach and, of course, Al had to be the one to read the note the producer was carrying with him. The note said to pick a tribe member to go on a journey with one person from each of the other two tribes.

Scott: What was your reaction to the note?

Hannah: I was shocked, usually the Survivor journey happens a couple days in, not on the first day! But, I felt pretty good with the connections I'd made so far, and honestly, I knew there were at least two people on this tribe with a worse social game, so I figured I could afford a couple hours away from camp and maybe build some connections with the other side. Plus, part of me really wanted an advantage.

Scott: What's more important, connections or advantages?

Hannah: Both. Both is good.

"I think we should draw palm leaves. Whoever draws the shortest one has to go on the journey."

"That's a good call, Hannah," said Camden, after which Tora shouted, "I agree!"

"Anyone else?" asked Camden without looking at Tora. "Sounds like a plan to me," answered Bethany as Michael nodded and Al maintained a neutral expression on his face. "I don't know if that's fair," he said, "but I can't say I have any other ideas, so I suppose we could go with that."

Hannah: His pompous attitude sometimes really gets on my nerves, his wife certainly has more gumption than I do, I like my men very, very quiet.

Scott: There go my chances.

[Hannah loudly guffaws]

Hannah: You'd have to get through Jesi first, and I'm not convinced there's a better one out there than Jesi.

The tribe took a palm frond from off the shelter and ripped some leaves off of it. Michael put all the leaves they picked into his hat and the tribe took turns picking leaves with their eyes closed to prevent cheating. Of course, being so eager to go on the journey, Hannah found a way to cheat the system. While the rest of her tribemates picked two leaves each to put in Al's had, Hannah picked three leaves, one of which was the shortest of them all, and put it in her pocket. While no one was looking, she threw away the leaf she picked out of Al's hat and replaced it with the one in her pocket.

Hannah: I got to go on the journey, fair and square!

[Scott laughs]

"Good luck, Hannah!" the tribe shouted as she got in the boat. The skipper then quickly turned on the motor and Hannah started waving to her tribemates while pulling strands of hair out of her mouth and laughing. In due time, she found herself pulling up to another island that was covered in perfect green trees, all marking a neat path that was just asking to be walked through. To the left of Sanu's yellow boat was a blue one labeled "Eori," carrying another producer and what appeared to be a member of the tribe. Hannah's fellow castaway hopped out of the blue boat and nearly stumbled into the water. Hannah had to hold in a laugh. The girl quickly composed herself, brushing her curly red hair off her freckled face and adjusting her glasses, then strutting over to Hannah while carrying her flip flops. Hannah jumped out of her own boat and noticed a third, pink boat to the Sanu boat's right. The pink boat was labeled "Kadomo," and as soon as it met the shore, the tribe member it was carrying confidently jumped off the boat and started quickly walking toward Hannah and the other contestant. The third journeyer's excitement was palpable, Hannah thought she was by far the most excited one until they showed up.

Despite starting her walk sooner than the Kadomo member, the woman from Eori only made it to Hannah at the same time as them. "What's up!?" asked the Kadomo member loudly.

"Hi, nice to meet you two! My name's Hannah," she exclaimed, reaching her hand out to the former and being met with a confident handshake. "My name's Georgie, and you, over there?" they asked, looking over Hannah's shoulder at the silent girl from Eori, who was clutching her turqoise bag and forcing a smile. She adjusted her crop top and jorts then reached her hand out. "Samantha."

"Lovely to meet you, Samantha!" said Hannah as Georgie reached out and shook Samantha's hand. "Can we call you Sammy?" they asked. "Yeah, sure!" exclaimed Samantha with a laugh. The word "sure" sounded more like "show," Hannah immediately knew Samantha was from Boston.

"Well, we're certainly off to a great start," Hannah interjected. "Agreed!" yelled Samantha and Georgie simultaneously, before all three bursted out laughing. The laughing fit was interrupted by Hannah, eager to begin the journey. "It's not gonna start itself!" She led the way forward as Georgie walked next to her and Samantha followed closely behind.

Hannah: If you don't take the opportunity to build some connections with the opposition on the journey, then you shouldn't be playing Survivor. They both radiated such positive energy, not only did I want to get to know them on a strategic level, but I felt some sort of kinship right off of the bat, the minute we set foot on the island. Naturally, I was the one to suggest we talk a little bit about ourselves. They were both happy to, probably happier than I was. I suppose they needed the push.

Scott: What did y'all talk about?

Hannah: Well, we started with the basics, so first we talked about where we're from-

"I'm from Jersey!" yelled Georgie, "The lucky state!"

"Shut up!" laughed Hannah, "One of my tribemates is from Jersey, and another tribemate said the same thing!"

"I'm from Boston," said Samantha with a thick accent. "We can tell, doll," said Georgie, causing all three of them to laugh. "What about you, Hannah?" Samantha asked. "Hawaii," she answered, which excited Georgie. "No way, I used to visit there every summer when I was little! My parents owned a beach house there." Hannah acknowledged what Georgie said, but her eyes wandered over to the woods. The otherwise empty mass of trees had two producers in it, menacingly standing there and whispering. They noticed Hannah suspiciously staring, and stopped. Then one of them creepily mouthed, "Focus on the game, ma'am," before turning around and continuing his conversation with the other producer. "Hannah?" asked Georgie, "You all right?" Hannah shook her head. "Uh, yeah, sorry, sometimes I zone out like that."

After discussing where they were from, the three adventurers moved on to talking about their occupations.

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: You mentioned you were a librarian. Any of your co-workers now what happened?

Mrs. Fisher: No, the library is one of my only safe spaces, don't need to bring that up there. My co-workers know I have PTSD but they don't ask questions about it, they just help me take my mind off of things... they have no idea how much they help.

"I'm a firefighter," Samantha said, though it sounded more like she said "fayafayta" to Hannah and Georgie. The latter had to hold back a cackle before exclaiming, "No way! That's badass!"

"It is! That's so metal, Sammy!" Hannah yelled in agreement. "Oh, you guys, it's really nothing."

"Don't be so modest, girl, you risk your life for people who are too stupid to turn the oven off!"

"Georgie!" shrieked Samantha, "I can't say you're lying." More laughter errupted before Georgie continued. "Like, sometimes I feel like I have the hardest job on the planet, and I'm just a cashier! I can't even imagine how much more difficult and scary it must be to risk your life every single day!" Samantha laughed. "Yeah, it's exhausting but it feels so good every time we succeed! Whenever our callers thank us, it's such an amazing feeling. And I have a great team, even though it's mostly a sausage fest."

"Ugh, men," Georgie jokingly groaned. "I hear that," Hannah agreed with a smile. "I hear you both," giggled Samantha, "but I've always been one of the boys. My boys back home have literally saved my life! I'm so thankful I get to see them every day, even if things get a little 'high school' sometimes." A concerned expression emerged on Hannah's face. "What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, you know, the hefty girl is always the easy target, especially when she only hangs out with boys... My boys are always there for me when that shit gets to me, but I do wish people weren't so shitty sometimes." Hannah and Georgie immediately empathized. They'd both been bullied in high school just as Samantha was implying. "People assume you're like-" Georgie began before Samantha interrupted them. "A slut? Yeah, it's so annoying when grown women act like that. And when I tell them I'm asexual they just assume I'm a virgin in denial... It's annoying."

Hannah reached her arm out to pat Samantha's back. "Fucking judgemental people, they fear what they don't understand because they're too stupid to understand it." Samantha nodded. "You can say that again." Hannah huffed and then started telling Samantha and Georgie her own story. "People in high school judged me too. It was bad enough having people judge me for being an immigrant, but when people found out I was bisexual, it was like a switch flipped."

Samantha then put her own hand on Hannah's back. "I feel you, girl. I don't get why people have to be so... just so mean." Georgie proceeded to put their hand on Samantha's, which was still on Hannah's back, and they joined the conversation. "I just got out of high school, couldn't be happier. My family barely understands how being non-binary works, everyone at school thought I was delusional."

"Our tribes really did send the misfits, huh?" jested Samantha. "I'm low key more interested in meeting y'all than I am my own tribe, to be honest," said Georgie before giggling. Hannah then added, "Honestly, I agree."

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/15/2024

Hannah: Before I knew it, we took a break from the journey and gathered around in a circle somewhere in the woods. We must've pissed the cameramen off but we didn't give a fuck. We were so invested into each other's stories. People who've gone through a lot in their lives kinda gravitate toward each other, our stories were pretty much asking to be told. I mean, I know more about these people's personal lives than I know about some of my friends back home!

"So... I guess I'll start trauma dumping first," said Georgie half-jokingly. "I always kinda felt like an outsider, most of my friends when I was little were white, and I realized I was queer when I was really young, so I always felt different from other kids."

"Did you ever tell your parents?" asked Hannah.

"No, they found out, they caught me texting my first girlfriend in 5th grade... it took them forever to accept it but they eventually became... neutral. Then I figured out I was non-binary and told them... I can tell they're not okay with it but they don't want to make things harder for me... It's awkward, but I'll be moving out soon."

"Moving out at nineteen?" interjected Samantha. "Lucky little bitch! I'm twenty-one and still live with my parents. Money never did come easy, I'm lucky to have gotten such a great job, or to even be somewhat stable mentally considering how overprotective my parents were... I would like to move out soon, to be completely honest."

Hannah exhaled while looking at the ground. "I wonder what it's like to talk to your parents, my parents check in with me once every other year, if I'm lucky, and that's just to ask me if I've given up the 'gay thing.'"

Georgie gave Hannah a hug. "It sucks when parents love their children conditionally, it's something I don't plan on carrying over to my future children."

Samantha joined the group hug too. "My parents made countless mistakes but I'm lucky that they accept me for who I am, if only everyone could be like that."

Hannah started holding back tears and spoke with a raspy voice, "Right, I never knew true love until I met Jesi, my wife... she has great parents, I love them more than I love my own. It's easy for me to see how Jesi became such a wonderful woman."

Both Georgie and Samantha held onto Hannah even tighter as Hannah wrapped her arms around them, and the former two's arms met behind the latter's back. Soon, all three of them were holding each other in a warm embrace. Hannah couldn't help but cry, and tears started welling up in Georgie's eyes too as they started speaking. "Samantha, why were your parents so overprotective, if you don't mind me asking?"

Samantha started to cry too. "I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was little. My parents treated that like a terminal illness... They would've been perfect parents for someone who was actually sick." Hannah clutched Samantha's side even tighter. "Georgie, when did you realize you were non-binary? I've never met a person like that."

The dam behind Georgie's eyes burst and soon, all three of them were in tears. "Words like 'boy' or 'girl' never felt right to me. I didn't like being lumped into boxes I didn't ask to be lumped in, and I always asked for unisex clothes instead of girly ones. Eventually I realized there was a word for that."

Samantha spoke after wiping her eyes, "You remind me a lot of Jennifer, one of my tribemates. She's a trans girl and she told us how she realized... her story was almost identical to yours, only she used to be a boy." Georgie gave her a smile. "Put in a good word for me if we ever swap together." All three of them laughed, tears still runing down their faces. "I think this'll be a day we talk about ten years from now at some coffee shop," Hannha said.

Hannah: Believe it or not, I don't usually go around telling people my life story, and I doubt Sammy and Georgie do either, but we practically sang our stories to each other. Sammy called us misfits and I couldn't've described us better than that. It was like fate that we ended up together on this journey, all of us desperately needed a shoulder to cry on. The type of conversation we had meant so much, not just on a game level, but on a personal level, too.

Scott: You're unbelievably brave for being so open about your story, Hannah.

[Hannah wipes some tears from her eyes]

Hannah: Thank you...

Scott: Scott.

Hannah: Scott, thank you, Scott. Anyway, I felt such a strong bond with Georgie and Sammy, and I knew what that meant.

"Guys," Hannah spoke up, "I... seriously feel more connected to you both than anyone from my tribe already. It's a bit of a statement, I know, but it's true. I haven't talked about anything like this with any of them." Georgie nodded, "Same here. I talked about some pretty personal things with one of my tribemates, Vivian, but what I told her about myself was basically nothing compared to what we talked about."

Samantha chuckled, "Can you put in a good word with her for us too?" Hannah looked over to Samantha as Georgie laughed. "Speaking of... I seriously hope we can all make it to the swap, or even the merge, because I can't stand to see either of you go after today."

"Agreed," said Georgie, to which Samantha nodded. Hannah then put her arm out, signaling to Samantha and Georgie to do the same. Both of their eyes lit up and they placed their hands on Hannah's at lightning speed. "Final three?" asked Hannah. "All the way," answered Georgie. "Even if it gets me voted out," added Samantha. Then they threw their hands up in the air with a victory screech. Afterwards, they got up and chatted about their lives and their tribes until they were forced to split up to complete their challenges.

Scott: So, you were against Bethany playing too hard too soon, right?

Hannah: Yes...

Scott: But you made a final three with people who aren't on your tribe?

Hannah: ... Okay, smartass, you try and play Survivor, let's see how good you'd do!

[Hannah and Scott both laugh loudly]

Hannah: Nah, but... keep this between us, okay?

Scott: You got it... legally I have to.

[Hannah laughs]

Scott: So, what happened after you got to the end of the journey?

Hannah: Well-

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Mrs. Fisher: I don't even remember what happened at the end of the journey, the bond I'd made with Sammy and Georgie was so much more important to me. Something I remember, though, right before the challenge, we had to split up and when Samantha started walking down her path, I saw her drop a piece of paper. I blinked and she'd already picked it up off the ground and started jogging down her path. I'd assumed it was a secret advantage but Scott brought up that he slipped her some sort of note while she was filming a confessional.

Interviewer: What was this note about?

Mrs. Fisher: He refused to tell me... it made him uncomfortable for some reason. Might've been a warning of what was to come.

Chapter 5: The Cameraman

Notes:

hello sudden influx of hits! i figured i'd add a little note here saying me and Nueva have sorta been writing this as we go (we have an idea of what we want every chapter to be and we know how the story ends and all that important stuff, but as far as the chapters actually being written out, that's something we do as we go). obv we've come to realize that thats not... the easiest thing to do, so after this chapter we're probably (definitely) gonna sit down and try to write the rest of the chapters before posting them. if this fic suddenly goes dark thats why. we're not dead we're just writing the rest.

Chapter Text

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: So, I want to talk a little bit more about this Scott guy.

Mrs. Fisher: All right, what about specifically?

Interviewer: Can we focus on y'all's relationship on the show? It sounds you got pretty close after the show, was that a thing on the island too or did it just kinda happen?

Mrs. Fisher: Well, I think at first we had a relationship that was typical for a producer and a contestant? Like, I was basically just answering questions and ocassionally we'd joke around. But then the jokes started becoming more and more frequent. I think on Day 2 we progressed to being friends. We even flirted a little bit but I made sure not to take it too far, I love Jesi too much to let that happen. Day 3... I was indebted to him forever.

Interviewer: Sounds like sparks were flying.

Mrs. Fisher: Well... a little bit, I'll be completely honest. He's a good looking guy, and he's funny, but I didn't have any feelings for him. I only liked him platonically. I spent all three days thinking about Jesi non-stop.

Interviewer: So how do you explain the flirting?

Mrs. Fisher: I just like to flirt, even with my friends. Jesi knows this and she doesn't mind because I never take it far at all.

Interviewer: You think it was platonic on his end?

Mrs. Fisher: I hope so. He knew I was married so he probably knew better.

Sanu's first confessional sessions started a few hours after Hannah returned from the journey. Unbeknowst to them, the other two tribes had already finished their confessional sessions. Scott was originally assigned the Eori tribe, but once he was done with them, he asked if he could interview the Sanu contestants as well. None of the producers were quite sure why. Tora and Hannah were the last two contestants interviewed on Day 1. Before Hannah was called out to be interviewed, she noticed Tora walking back to camp blushing and playing with her hair, which she knew only could've meant one thing.

Hannah made her way deep into the woods where no other contestants would hear her, wondering how the confessional process would go. "Hello, Hannah, I'm gonna need you to sit right there," said an unfamiliar, expectedly attractive man with a deep voice, pointing to a tree. She sat down and leaned up against it, getting a full view of the set-up. Cameras, lights, and microphones surrounded the small clearing and she only had them and the unknown man for company. He began to explain, "All right, here's how this is gonna work, I'm gonna ask you questions about the game and you'll answer however you want. Just try to make sure it's something you'd want to listen to if you were a viewer. Anything you need clarified?"

"Nope... I got it." Hannah would hardly admit how soothing she found the man's voice, as well as how pleasing he was to her eyes. He reminded her of a man she'd briefly dated years ago.

Mrs. Fisher: I feel kinda guilty, I shouldn't have found him so attractive.

Interviewer: Why the guilt?

Mrs. Fisher: I'm married to the most amazing woman in the world, you know.

Interviewer: And that means you're not allowed to find other people attractive?

Mrs. Fisher: I don't know, man... Maybe the problem is how attractive I found him.

Interviewer: Listen, that's something you can't really help. I would hope you and your wife have a connection that goes so much deeper than just how attractive you find her.

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/15/2024

Scott: Let's start off simple, tell the audience a bit about yourself, Hannah.

Hannah: I'm Hannah Fisher, I'm 27, I'm from Hawaii and I've been married for two years.

Scott: Are you a fan of Survivor?

Hannah: I'm a huge fan of Survivor, I've seen every episode at least twice! Except for season 20, I've definitely seen that one at least 10 times.

Scott: So you have taste!

[Hannah and Scott laugh]

Hannah: If my wife is any indication, I absolutely do!

Scott: She's lucky, isn't she?

Hannah: Oh, I'm the lucky one.

Scott: Of course you are. Tell us a little bit more, when did you become a fan? How do you plan on playing the game?

Hannah: I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. I can still picture little me sitting in front of the TV idolizing Parvati Shallow.

Scott: Shut up, she was my favorite as a kid too!

Hannah: She's the best, isn't she?

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Mrs. Fisher: Scott spoke to me like we'd been friends for a long time. I don't know if this is how he approached all interviews but... I kind of liked it. He exuded so much confidence, and he made me feel comfortable telling him pretty much everything about my game, even some personal stuff.

Interviewer: How personal?

Mrs. Fisher: At one point, I had to go to a separate island with two people from the other tribes, Georgie Vondu and Samantha Rose, and I told them all about my relationship with my parents, and Jesi, and about how I'm queer. Later, Scott asked me to recap what we talked about and I told him all of that and then some.

Interviewer: Are you comfortable telling me what you said?

Mrs. Fisher: I explained how I fell out with my parents, and how I met Jesi, and how I was judged for being an immigrant... I almost forgot the editors could easily put all of that stuff on national TV.

16 April 2024. By around 9-o'clock in the morning, every member of Sanu was up and running. Up and running as well as anyone with a body deprived of any food or drink that slept on uncomfortable, rough bamboo could be. The highest amount of sleep anyone got was about seven hours. After the fire was started and everyone got some coconut juice and rice in their stomachs, it was time for the awkward small talk to end and strategy talk to begin. Bethany was the first to leave camp and invited Hannah with her into the woods. They both inconspicuously made their way into the forest when Bethany stopped Hannah in her tracks to ask her if she was ready to look for the Hidden Immunity Idol.

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/16/2024

Hannah: Bethany sort of annoyed me this morning. She asked me if I was "finally ready to look for that idol." She was almost offended that I dared to take my time. I like her and I think she's fun to be around but sometimes she has a way of speaking to people that's really rude, and I'm not sure if that's just how she is or if it's the sleep deprivation talking.

Scott: You seemed to be pretty close to her in the beginning.

Hannah: She's probably my main alliance right now and I was hoping to get something started with us and Michael, but I don't know if that'll work out.

Scott: Just because of the idol situation?

Hannah: Well-

A few hours after Hannah got back from the journey, she went on a walk with Michael, during which they chatted. "You know, about what you told us concerning the journey-"

"Yeah?" asked Hannah. "I believe everything you said, and so does everyone... except for one person." Hannah looked at Michael with a confused expression. Is Camden as sneaky as he looks? Is Al as untrusting of women as he appears? she pondered. "Bethany took me aside earlier saying, 'I think Hannah's lying.'"

Hannah's jaw dropped. "No fucking way! She tried to look for an idol with me before I went, but I told her 'no.' Do you think she said that because she was mad at me?" Michael's eyes widened. "She tried to get Camden to do the same, he accepted but after a while she disappeared. He thinks she might have it."

"Ugh, I liked her in the beginning, I don't know if we can live with that." Michael nodded along. "Yeah, she's definitely at the top of my radar. I just hope you know I trust you the most out of everyone so far."

"Right back at you, Mike. Who else are you good with?" Michael looked around. "Al's okay but he's too bossy, and that's gonna get very old, very soon. I guess that only leaves Camden and Tora."

"I think I can get Tora to work with us," said Hannah. "Yeah, I like Tora, she reminds me of my daughter. Camden's a good kid too." Hannah bit her tongue, "Yeah, he seems nice."

Hannah: I know we won't have Tribal Council until tomorrow but I think all eyes are on Bethany. I'd prefer Al but Bethany's just doing too much.

Scott: You think you have a good relationship with Camden and Tora?

Hannah I have a good relationship with Torr, but I need to work on Camden a little bit.

"Michael came to me today telling me Beth got you to look for an idol with her. You know she did that with me, too?" Camden slapped Hannah's arm. "Shut the fuck up, I had no idea. Thank you for telling me that, that means a lot. I've had, like, no strategic conversations with anyone but Michael until just now. Obviously Bethany tried but I don't think that's gonna work out." Hannah nodded. "Yeah, of course. How do you feel about Tora?" Camden tried and failed to hide his annoyance. "I can't stand her, and I haven't spoken to her since we looked for coconuts, except for when we're all together. Why do you ask?"

"Just wanted to know where your head was at. I think you, her, and Michael are the people I get the best vibe from."

Hannah: In hindsight, me telling him that could've ended very poorly. But...

Camden huffed. "I like you, and Mike. Can't say the same for Tora but I think she'll do what she's told, so if you're saying you want us to align then I'm down." Hannah reached her hand out. "Yeah, she's gonna be a free vote. I can touch base with her if you like." Camden shook Hannah's hand. "I think I'm gonna fake up an apology for blowing her off and get her to join us that way." Hannah was curious. "Blowing her off?" Camden rubbed his hand across his chiseled face. "She tried to flirt with me earlier but I told her about my partner back home. Nothing happened. I hope she's not still jealous." Hannah held back a laugh. "Ugh, she seemed like the type to not take 'no' for an answer... Hopefully you can work this out with her."

"I'll try."

Hannah: Camden ended up having a heart-to-heart with her and, I assume using his good looks and... the charm that's somewhere in there, he got her to join our little Four.

[Scott laughs]

Hannah: What's so funny? [she says while nervously laughing]

Scott: You're so sassy!

Hannah: I told you, no food + no sleep + no alcohol = huge bitch.

[both laugh]

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Mrs. Fisher: Even after just two days, the social politics and the lack of sleeping and drinking and eating and anything can drive you crazy. He helped keep me grounded in a way. I... I miss him. I wish I knew why he cut contact with me. I don't know if he felt guilty about Jesi... I know I certainly did.

Interviewer: You mentioned something about him coming off as nervous? Can we talk a bit more about that?

Mrs. Fisher: Yeah... On Day 1 he kept his composure but I noticed him looking around rapidly and stuttering a lot more on Day 2. I think at one point after we flirted on Day 2, he suddenly turned pale. Like a ghost. I heard leaves crunching behind us and I felt... confused? I almost turned around but then another producer walked out from behind the tree I was leaning on.

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/16/2024

Producer: Sorry... Hannah?

Hannah: Yeah, Hannah.

Producer: Right, I was just bringing Scotty here a coffee.

Hannah: Oh, why didn't you just bring him a whole pizza while you're at it, it's not like I've been dying to drink anything but water.

[Scott laughs before the producer grabs his shoulder and hands him the coffee]

Producer: Sorry about that, hun, but coffee helps you stay focussed.

[Scott slowly reaches for the coffee while blankly staring at the producer]

Producer: Scotty needs one of these right now.

[Scott sips the coffee as the producer walks away]

Scott: I-uh... hope you don't mind.

[Hannah forcefully flicks her hair back]

Hannah: Not at all. [she says with a blank expression]

[The Producer shouts from a distance]

Producer: Remember, Scotty, we don't reveal information to the contestants!

[Hannah looks back, concerned]

Hannah: Do I wanna know?

Scott: No.

[Scott chuckles awkwardly, as does Hannah shortly after]

Chapter Text

17 April 2024. Another boring day of deep-sea fishing and repetitious strategy talk was interrupted by a joyous screech. "TREEMAIL!" shouted Tora. Al was the first to react. "All right," he said as he got up from the shelter, clapping. "I've been dying for a challenge! Are we ready for a win, Sanu!?"

"Hell yes!" yelled Tora, "Let's go!"

Hannah laughed at Tora's enthusiasm and looked over at Bethany, who was a lot more annoyed. Hannah found Tora's energy charming but Bethany still wasn't used to it. Just as the four that were at camp got ready for the challenge, Camden and Michael came back from the sea after an unsuccessful attempt at fishing. "All right, we're all here," said Hannah, "how about we get ready for that challenge."

"Challenge?" yelled Camden, "Finally, let's go!" Cheering soon erupted from all sides of the tribe and preparations for the challenge soon began. Water bottles were emptied and refilled, scoops of rice were passed around, shoes and clothes were packed into bags, and soon everyone was ready for the challenge. During preparations, Tora called Hannah aside, and the two discreetly made their way into the woods.

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/17/2024

Hannah: When Tora called me into the woods right before we had to leave for the challenge, I was confused.

[Hannah briefly stops speaking as Scott glances down at his phone and stares off into the distance at random intervals]

Scott: You can keep going.

Hannah: Right... I didn't really know what she wanted from me, and we hadn't really had any strategic conversations as of yet. Every conversation with Tora is a journey so I had no idea what to expect.

"Camden told me about The Four." Hannah's eyes lit up, "Are you down for that?" she asked

Tora looked down at the ground. "He 'apologized' for blowing me off on Day 1, I assume he told you about that. I know he's not really sorry, and I know he doesn't have a reason to. I just feel guilty whenever I'm around him. I don't know if aligning with him is a great idea.

Hannah put her arm on Tora's shoulder. "Listen, Tor, you didn't know he had a partner, why blame yourself for shooting your shot?" Tora brushed a strand of hair off her face. "I kept trying even after he told me he had a partner back home... Ugh, I'm a horrible person."

Hannah: I felt so bad for her. I mean, yes, it's a shitty thing to do, going after a taken man even after you know he's taken, and she absolutely should feel bad. But at the same time, she's still young. I remember, when I was her age, I'd go after people I shouldn't have been going after too.

[Scott continues looking around, briefly stopping to look at Hannah mid-sentence before quickly looking back down at his phone]

"Tora, when I was younger, I'd get involved with both girls and boys... men I absolutely shouldn't've been getting involved with. We all do dumb things when we're young, now's your chance to grow from that. I mean, how many people on Survivor manage to form a solid alliance with someone they openly got rejected by?"

Tora laughed. "I guess you're right... thanks Hann, I think I'll be joining that Four." The two then hugged.

Hannah: I managed to solidify my alliance with Tora and I think that Four between me, her, Camden, and Michael is now in full swing.

[Scott continues looking at his phone]

Hannah: ... Do I give myself confessional prompts?

[Scott looks up and awkwardly chuckles]

Scott: Sorry about that, Hannah, busy day.

"Come on in!" yelled Jeff. The three tribes proudly marched toward a large, open, grassy area surrounded by cameramen, gaffers, grips, doctors, microphone holders, and various crew members. Four mats were neatly placed in front of an intimidating-looking obstacle course. Jeff stood on a black mat with a perfect smile and a commanding presence to match. He struck fear and respect into the castaways just as he did back on the boat. Opposite Jeff were three mats, one orange, one blue, and one pink, clearly there for all the tribes to stand on.

All the tribes stood on their mats and placed their flags into the compartments as Jeff began to introduce the challenge. In order to win immunity from Tribal Council, the tribes would have to cross a net structure, at the end of which were three bags which they'd need to untie. Then they'd need to empty all the bags into a box and use their contents, tons of small sandbags, to knock down three targets in the distance. It looked to be physically demanding, which Hannah was worried about. She always fancied herself more of a puzzle master, but she wasn't too distraught as the men on her tribe looked strong. After the challenge was demonstrated by some crew members, it was time for the games to begin.

"Survivors ready?" asked Jeff. "Go!" And just like that, every contestant's fate was sealed.

Excerpt from text conversation between Hannah and Scott, 10:34 a.m., 05/01/2024

Hannah: I can't stop thinking about when the first challenge started.
Like, we were fighting for our lives and we didn't even know it.

Scott: I'm so sorry, Hannah, I know how hard this is for you and your wife. I just hope you know I'm always here if you need to talk.
I'm super busy trying to get evidence and find all the producers' names. Between you and me, I don't feel safe, so I have to be very careful while doing all this. If they were willing to let Jeff kill everyone, who knows the lengths they'll go through to silence me if they find me. Once I make more progress, I'll try to visit you and Jesi. And after that, I'll try and maybe visit the filming location with you two. By then, the NDA will have probably expired. We can finally get the cops in on this. I wish we could do this sooner but I'm super short on money right now.

Hannah: Thank you so much for being here for me, Scott. I've felt more stress this past month than in the entirety of my life. I know how hard this is on you and Jesi too.

Scott: Don't worry about us, you were in so much more danger than we were. Don't ever be scared to reach out.
I assure you, Jesi would say the same thing.

Hannah: Thanks, Scott. I know I've only known you for, like, a month, but our friendship means so much to me.

Scott: So, what are you up to?

Hannah: I took a few days off work so I could focus on myself. I've been trying to distract myself and journal but it only works for so much time. I'll be seeing my therapist for the first time tomorrow, though.

Scott: Keep taking care of yourself, Hannah. I know all of this is gonna be solved one day.

Hannah: <3

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher's wife, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: What did you make of Hannah and Scott's relationship after the show?

Jesi: Other than me, Scott was the only person keeping Hannah down-to-earth. I think it brought her a lot of comfort, being able to talk to someone who experienced all the same things she did. Something I found kind of odd is that he didn't seem all too shaken up about it, though I guess the fact that he knew it was coming made it easier to cope with.

Interviewer: Did you give that a second thought or...?

Jesi: Well, I did find it kind of suspicious, it was always at the back of my mind during the months we were in touch with him. I chose to ignore that feeling, though.

Interviewer: Why's that?

Jesi: Part of me felt like I was being jealous. I did my best not to be, I knew how important Scott was to Hannah, but I get intrusive thoughts like that quite often.

Interviewer: I can recognize a liar before they even begin speaking, and you're either the best one I've ever seen, or I'm just not understanding your thought process.

Jesi: Listen, I was worried that what I thought was jealousy would come between Hannah and I, and another huge thing to worry about was definitely not something Hannah needed.

Interviewer: Do you have any suspicions of Scott now?

Jesi: Yes, now that we're a year removed from everything, and we've talked about all of this, I can definitely see how suspicious this guy has been.

Interviewer: If you and Hannah aren't lying to us, Scott could definitely be in trouble. If he was actually trying to help, I have to say his methods have seemed unusual so far. Though, right now, we can't even verify if this guy exists.

Jesi: I could ask Hannah to show you some text messages with him after I ask her to show y'all the cast list.

Interviewer: That could go a pretty long way.

Bethany and Tora struggled to get past the net crawl. Al volunteered to shoot the targets and scored a point with every tenth sandbag when lucky. "Kadomo! Wins immuntiy!" Jeff shouted when Sanu was barely done with the net crawl. "Eori! Wins Immunity!" Jeff shouted when Sanu had one target left. An Immunity Idol for the winning tribe shaped like the god Mercury's caduecus was given to Kadomo, while the one for Eori was shaped like the goddess Juno's sceptre. Tears started falling from every Sanu member's face as no Immunity Idols were given to them. "Sanu, you have a date with me at Tribal Council tonight where one of you will be... the first person voted out of Survivor 47," said Jeff.

Back at camp, conversations about strategy and who to vote out started once more.

Partial transcript from a recovered confessional session between Scott and Hannah, originally filmed 04/17/2024

Scott: What do you think is going to happen at Tribal tonight?

Hannah: Bethany wants to target Al, which I'm okay with. He's extremely annoying and he proved not to be as much of a challenge asset as we thought he would be. However, he's very useful at camp. Al actually wants to target Tora, which Bethany said she'd actually be down for too. Al thinks she's gonna be a challenge liability, and Bethany just hates her. Obviously, I don't want that to happen, Tora's probably my second closest ally on this tribe besides Mike, though I understand she kind of sucked in the challenge. Everyone else wants to target Bethany. She sucked in the challenge and she's been causing chaos at camp. If I had to bet on anyone, I'd say she's probably gonna be leaving us.

Scott: Yeah... thank you, y- you can go back to camp.

Hannah: ... That's it? One question?

Scott: Yes, you can go, Hannah.

[Hannah gives Scott a suspicious look while Scott avoids eye contact]

Hannah: Okay... uh, thank you.

[Hannah walks back to camp]

Partial transcript from interview with Mrs. Fisher's wife, originally filmed 11/01/2025

Interviewer: Apart from text messages and insider info, do you have any other proof of Scott? Or the massacre?

Jesi: Well... nothing physical, unless you guys want to go visit Fiji yourselves-

Interviewer: If you're lying to us, that would be a huge waste of money, time, and resources. I think we'll have to look into what you and your wife are telling us first. Anyway, what do you mean by "nothing physical"?

Jesi: I don't know if you've seen them, but some online Survivor leakers have discovered that filming for the current season of Survivor hasn't even started, when it usually starts in September.

Interviewer: ... Interesting. We might have to look into that, too.

Chapter 7: The Storm

Chapter Text

Excerpt from Honolulu Police Department Report, filed 12/10/2025
Case No.: 471957

After our investigations into the claims made by the Fisher couple proved surprisingly fruitful, and our investigation into the whereabouts of Scott MacGrady proved unsuccessful, we decided the next best course of action was to travel to the location of the alleged massacre. Online leakers were able to prove that, unusually, filming for the 48th season of the reality program Survivor hadn't even began, when it usually begins in September. We figured this cause was probable enough to visit the location of the alleged massacre now. We had previously held it off so as to not waste time and money, but the online leaks were the smoking gun.

The decision to visit Fiji proved to be correct once we were able to locate the exact filming location of Survivor 47. The crime scene looked as though it hadn't been touched since the massacre. According to some of the messages we read between Fisher and MacGrady, the producers assumed everyone had been killed, so we can only assume they didn't clean the crime scene up based on the assumption that nobody would live to tell anyone about it.

"Behind each of you is a torch. Go ahead and grab a torch, approach the flame, dip it in, and get fire. In this game, fire represents your life. Once your fire's gone, so are you."

Jeff's well-known catchphrase was like music to the Sanu tribe's ears. An awful, horrifying song, and a song that was hard to believe. Every member of the Sanu tribe dreamt that one day they'd hear Jeff say that to them, if only they didn't have to hear it so early. By the end of the hour, one of them would be history. Even the Roman-inspired beauty of this season's Tribal Council set wasn't enough to take their minds off of things.

The six Sanu members walked into tribal gazing upon the evidently Roman Forum-inspired design, shakily sitting down on the rocky Tribal Council chairs. In the center of the set was a pit of fire contained in a huge, chipped rocky bowl adorned with small Roman-style columns. As the castaways grabbed their torches, which were shaped like slim columns with pointed ends, not unlike the torches held by the goddess Trivia, they dipped them into the fire pit, taking note of the other decorations that really made them feel like they stepped back in time. Jeff's podium on which he normally read votes was decorated with a carved laurel wreath, and his seat was shaped like a small throne, fit for an emperor. Laurel and olive branches were visible hanging all around Tribal and carved symbols such as Jupiter's lightning bolt, Ceres' cornucopia, Vesta's dancing flame, Neptune's trident, Venus' rose, Minerva's owl, Vulcan's hammer, Mars' spear, and Apollo's lyre let the players know the gods were listening and observing.

Perhaps most frighteningly, the archway behind Jeff was paved with small stones, similar to that of the Appian Way, the same road down which Julius Caesar used to walk, and the castaways knew they'd eventually suffer the same fate as him... but only in the game, of course.

Jeff sat down on his small throne as the castaways put their bags and gear on the floor. Camden held back a smile, no doubt caused by how much of a superfan he was, Tora crossed her legs and played with her hair to calm down, Bethany quietly analyzed everyones facial expressions because of their lack of communication with her back at camp after the challenge. The three women sat in the front, the men in the back, Hannah and Michael in the center of it all. It was up to them to decide if they'd vote out Tora with Al and Bethany on the left, or vote out Bethany with Camden and Tora on the right.

Excerpt from text conversation between Hannah and Scott, 11:27 p.m., 06/09/2024

Hannah: I can't remember anything about Tribal apart from what it looked like.
And what happened after Jeff read the votes.

Scott: I can imagine.
All of it must be a blur.

Hannah: You have no idea.
All I remember is that it was between Tora and Bethany. We spent most of it dancing around that, we were too scared to even tell Jeff what was going on.
Which usually isn't out of place in Survivor, but it feels... different looking back.

Scott: I would've stopped the boat had I known how to.

Hannah: What do you mean?

[Scott doesn't respond for a minute]

Scott: The boat that led y'all to Tribal.

Hannah: Ah, right.
Ugh, I know you would've, but I know the producers were all over your ass. They'd've never let you come close.

Scott: I wish I could've, though.

"All right, it is time to vote," Jeff said after more than an hour of vaguely discussing tribal dynamics without giving away what was going on so that Bethany and Tora wouldn't catch on to the fact that they were in danger.

"Tora, maybe you would've made it further on Love Island or something, but not Survivor," said Bethany to the camera as she wrote Tora's name on the parchment in neat cursive letters.

Al wrote down Bethany's name in all-capital block letters, showed it to the camera, then put it in the urn and walked back.

"Bethany, we bonded well together at the start, but you ran around the island telling way too many stories to way too many people. I don't think you're trustworthy, so you have to go," said Hannah after writing "Beth" on her parchment.

"You're a great person, but you did too much too soon. I don't think we can afford to keep you in," said Michael.

"Your kids are gonna grow up to be wonderful people, and hopefully better Survivor players," said Tora.

"This really should be Tora, but she'll do as I say while I'm still here. I can't depend on you the same way," said Camden.

"I'll go tally the votes."

After asking the tribe if anyone had a Hidden Immunity Idol or an advantage to play and being met with silence, Jeff opened the urn and started reading the votes. Bethany. Tora. Bethany. Bethany.

"First person voted out of Survivor 47: Bethany. Bethany, that's four, that's enough, go ahead and bring me your torch." Bethany's head sunk into her hands with a sigh as she got up from her seat. She picked up her gear and gave all of her tribemates an angry glare. "Sorry, Beth," whimpered Hannah. "Bye, Bethany," said Tora. Michael and Al refused to make eye contact as Camden failed to hide his signature cocky grin. Bethany did as she was instructed and brought her torch over to Jeff. As she placed it into the hole in front of Jeff, he turned around and reached for something behind his podium. Everyone on the tribe assumed it was just a snuffer.

They couldn't have been more wrong.

"Bethany," Jeff started while still behind the podium, "the tribe has spoken," he said with a demented smile on his face as he revealed a huge axe. Bethany gasped and everyone on the tribe froze, not knowing if it was just a stylized snuffer or if something much more sinister was at play. Their question was answered as Jeff grunted and strongly swung the axe right into Bethany's head. Then he walked closer to her and continued hacking into her head as the rest of the tribe screamed bloody murder. None of them could move due to the shock they were experiencing, and they sat in their seats and watched Jeff slice their former tribemate's face beyond recognition before moving on to her stomach, maniacally laughing all the while with a psychotic grin to match.

Once Jeff decided he was done with Bethany, he turned to the rest of the tribe and asked, "Who's next?" His voice was even more gravelly than usual. His eyes were dilated and his mouth was watering. He had clearly wanted to do this for a long time. Camden eventually built up the courage to grab his torch and he tried to charge at Jeff flame-first. "CAMDEN, NO!" screamed Tora, rightfully, as Jeff stood tall and swung his axe into Camden's side. The torch only managed to slightly burn Jeff's shirt, and afterwards it fell onto Bethany's mangled corpse, setting it ablaze where Jeff and Camden stood.

Camden grabbed his side. It was the most painful sensation he had ever felt, but he would soon be out of his misery. He tried to reach for the torch and burn Jeff while he still had the chance, but he wasn't quick enough. Jeff hacked into his head, leaving the axe stuck there, as Camden fell to the floor, unconscious and bleeding out of his side and his head. "Now we're playing Survivor," quipped Jeff with an evil laugh, as the bystander effect finally wore off for Sanu. "RETREAT!" yelled Michael, grabbing Tora's hand as Al grabbed Hannah's. The four soon started running. Michael had to grab Tora and carry her, since she was too shaken up by what just happened to stand up straight. Eventually, Tora hyperventilated then lost consciousness.

"Is she okay!?" yelled Hannah.

"I can feel a pulse, she'll be fine... if we can get out of here," explained Michael.

Al looked around while Hannah and Michael were talking. "We have to find another boat... The producer that led us here seems to have dipped."

"Fucking coward," huffed Michael, "these fuckers had to have known this would happen."

"We better fucking find one before Probst gets here... If only we took our torches with us," said Hannah, barely being able to catch her breath.

Michael started to speak. "Let's all try to find a boat. I'll try to find Ponderosa with Tora, all our shit's probably there. Hannah, you try and alert Kadomo! Al, you try to alert the other tribe."

"All right," said Hannah while Al took off shortly before she did. Hannah ran toward the shore only to not see any boats, but was eventually met with a pleasant surprise. "HANNAH!" shouted a familiar voice. She turned around, stunned at who she was seeing. "Oh, God, I've been looking all over for you!" said the handsome man behind her. "Scott?" she asked, shaking with the wind in her hair. "Yes, it's me... I've been trying to find one of you ever since you left for Tribal, it's so good to see you."

"Have you seen Al or Mike? Tora?"

"No, I haven't, you're the only one I was able to locate... I know where they keep the boats. I can find a small motorboat somewhere around here, probably."

"Will we be able to save everyone?"

"It's... unlikely. But we can try. Just... it's possible you'll have to save yourself, be prepared for that." Hannah looked at Scott, concerned, asking for clarification but knowing what he meant. "I'm saying that we might end up in a 'be killed or let someone else be killed' situation." Hannah bowed her head sadly as Scott ran toward her. "Come on, Hannah, we have to save ourselves, I'll lead you to the boat house."

After running for what seemed like hours, Scott and Hannah found a boat house which contained three boats. In one of the boats were the mangled corpses of Michael and Tora. Michael's front body was completely untouched, save for the blood pouring out of Tora's body, but his back was bloody and completely cut up. Tora's body didn't appear to be touched by the axe, but there were multiple stab wounds all over, and a smile was carved into her face. Hannah had to hold back a scream and she covered her mouth with her hands, then started crying. "I guess... Probst got to them already," she said as her voice cracked after every word. "At least we're in the clear, he's probably in the woods somewhere..."

Hannah wiped her tears and turned to Scott. "Do you have a manual on how to steer these things? I'll take one, you take the other." Scott looked at her confused as he took a boat manual out of his pocket. "Why do we need to take two?" Hannah spoke as she ran toward her boat. "We need to save Al too, we'll get his attention with these."

"You'll probably attract Probst's attention too, Hannah."

"I know, but if we drive fast enough, he won't catch us. We need to save everyone we can and then flee to Ponderosa to get all our shit. We'll try to get to the mainland from there."

"Hannah... I have to say-"

"Save it for later, Scott, please! He could be just around the corner."

The two got into their boats and circled the island, looking for Al. "I don't see him anywhere, do you?" said Hannah, communicating with Scott through a walkie-talkie. "No... we might have to leave him."

"No fucking way, Scott!"

"Hannah, the only way to save him is to shout out to him. What if Jeff finds us before Al does?"

"If Jeff comes out, we dash, but I'm not gonna leave Al out there to die when we could save him."

"Hannah, please, this isn't wise."

"I don't give a fuck," she said into her walkie-talkie, before shouting out to the island, "AL! AAAAALLLLLLLL! WE'RE RIGHT HERE, ON THE COAST, COME HERE BEFORE JEFF FINDS YOU!"

Scott jumped out of his boat and swam to Hannah's. Once he got in, he shouted her, "What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you a moron?"

Hannah pushed him and asked, "I'm a moron for wanting to save a life? I'm sorry you think he's not worth saving."

"It's not that, it's just that you're putting his and our lives in danger."

"We're already in danger, Scott. We might as well take a shot in the dark."

While they were talking, Al suddenly emerged from the woods, running toward the coast. "HANNAH? IS THAT YOU OUT THERE?" he shouted. Hannah honked her horn as a way of saying "yes," prompting Al to jump into the water and swim toward the boat. He was a strong swimmer, but not strong enough. Jeff emerged running from the woods carrying an axe and a knife, both of which he threw at Al. He missed, but he soon got into the water and swam toward Al. Al tried to fight him off but Jeff overpowered him, soon causing him to drown. "AL, NO!" Hannah screamed before Scott turned her around. "Hannah, he's gone, we have to go," said Scott as he immediately started steering the boat away. Hannah wanted to say something, but she knew this was all they could do. She looked back to see Jeff emerge from the sea and crawl into the other boat.

"Scott, he's following us, what do we do?"

"I know where to find the other two tribe camps, let's try to get to them before Jeff does."

The three made their way to Kadomo. "Do we go for broke?" asked Hannah.

"What do you mean?"

"Should we call the tribe to get over here?"

"Maybe it'd be better if we saved Eori instead? Now that Jeff's here, I don't know how much of a chance Kadomo has now."

"You're sick, it's better to try to save their lives than leave them for dead. Someone's gonna get hurt either way."

Scott sighed. "I guess... You better call out for them soon, though, Jeff's getting close to shore."

"KADOMO TRIBE! EVERYBODY! COME TO THE EAST COAST OF THIS BEACH NOW! DANGER IS APPROACHING!"

Jeff didn't seem to pay them any mind, probably more excited to snuff out six lives than a measly two. Rustling in the woods was soon audible, followed by screams of agony and fear. Hannah collapsed as Scott held her close. "Hannah... can I tell you what I wanted to-"

"Not... now... Scott..." she said through sobs and sniffs. Eventually, only one person emerged from the woods. A short, older-looking African-American woman ran up to Hannah and Scott's boat and begged for help. "Vivian, is that you?" asked Hannah, "Your tribemate Georgie told me about you! Get in, quick!" Vivian started crying at the mention of Georgie, and used whatever remaining energy she had to get in the boat. The three then drove off. "He... he came in... with an axe..." Vivian tried to explain.

Hannah held Vivian trying to calm her down as Scott led them to Eori beach. "EORI TRIBE!" he yelled, "COME TO YOUR BEACH'S COAST RIGHT NOW! DANGER IS APPROACHING!" He then turned around to Hannah and Vivian. "I don't see Jeff anywhere, we might actually have a chance to save these people." Scott honked the horn on the ship for good measure, but they heard nothing in response.

Scott turned to Hannah and Vivian with a somber expression on his face. "Do you think Jeff might've already..."

"... No... no way," murmured Hannah, but deep down, she knew it was a possibility.

"Hello! Who's there!" shouted a deep, feminine voice off in the distance. Suddenly, a tall brunette with pink streaks in her hair emerged from the woods and ran to the boat before the realization she was even there sunk in for Scott, Hannah, and Vivian. The latter turned around and noticed a speeding boat approaching. "JEFF'S COMING, HURRY!" she yelled.

The woman jumped into the boat with Scott's help and greeted her saviors. "Hi, what's your name?" asked Hannah.

"I'm Jennifer, and y'all?"

"I'm Scott. That's Hannah and Vivian from the other two tribes. Did Jeff..."

"Yes. Yes he did. He came to our beach out of nowhere and..."

"Yeah... It happened to Sanu and Kadomo too... How'd you survive?"

"I played dead when Jeff started going crazy... I'm so lucky he didn't notice," she said as she sat down next to Hannah and Vivian.

Scott steered the boat toward Ponderosa as Hannah, Jennifer, and Vivian huddled together. "He's following us!" screamed Vivian. "He knows there's only one other place we can go," answered Scott. "Once we get there, just try to get all your shit as fast as possible. I'll be waiting for y'all right outside the villa, I don't think we have much time to outrun him."

The Tribal Council set was dusty and close to falling apart. The corpses of Jake Camden and Bethany Campbell were not moved. Both of the deceased's corpses were entirely decomposed and badly burnt. Ms. Campbell's ribs were broken and the skull was chipped down the middle. Mr. Camden's skull was also badly chipped. Their skeletons were lying on top of each other in a pool of dried blood. In the forest surrounding the set, apart from abandoned production equipment, we were able to find three more corpses which lined up with what Mrs. Fisher told us. In the boat house, there were two empty compartments as well as one compartment with a boat in it that contained the decomposed corpses of Michael Muro and Tora Jackson. It appears Mr. Muro was holding Ms. Jackson in his arms. Dried blood was around their skeletons and Mr. Muro's skeleton was badly damaged by a blunt instrument. Damage was not visible on Ms. Jackson's skeleton. She was stabbed to death according to Mrs. Fisher, so the lack of damage to her skeleton would make sense was Mrs. Fisher to be believed. We were only able to find the skull of Al Simmons, the rest of his corpse was presumably washed away.

The Kadomo tribe camp was almost entirely burned down. We are unsure where the fire came from, though it's possible the tribe started this fire prior to going to sleep. The fire was not widespread and only affected the tribe's shelter, as well as the deceased's decomposed corpses. There were five corpses, meaning that one of the tribe members managed to escape. Using the cast sheet provided to us by Mrs. Fisher, we were able to identify them as Chrissy deSmidt, Julie Brick, Georgie Vondu, Bernard Corduroy, and Martin Wilkins. All of them had broken bones and chips all over their skeletons.

The Eori tribe camp was in better shape, but the scene itself was similar to that of Kadomo. Once again, one tribe member's corpse was not present. The corpses we were able to identify belonged to Elaine Utley, Samantha Rose, Tyler Crimson, Sean Floros, and Joe McLean. According to Mrs. Fisher, these people were the first to die.

The last place we searched was Ponderosa, the villa which was intended for eliminated contestants and a storage space for all of their personal items. Mrs. Fisher told us that she ran into Ponderosa with Jennifer Vosrovna and Vivian Black while Mr. MacGrady was standing outside in the boat. The three managed to locate their personal items and tried to run outside, but Mr. Probst was able to catch up to them. Mr. MacGrady walked in not long after Mr. Probst did. Vosrovna was the first to die after Probst fired two shots into the back of her head. We were able to verify this as two bullets were found next to Vosrovna's skull. Black and Fisher ran outside but Probst managed to shot Black through a window. Fisher barely managed to escape, and, according to her, she boldly chose to run around Ponderosa back to where Probst's boat was, instead of getting into MacGrady's boat. She claims she did this so that Probst couldn't leave. She also noted that MacGrady seemed disappointed by this decision, though she couldn't tell why.

From there, her and MacGrady sailed for hours until they reached the mainland, then she convinced him to help her find an airport, where the two slept. They made their way back to The U.S. the next morning. She noted that he didn't seem too pleased about that plan either, which she didn't consider suspicious until now. We are also suspicious of this and are looking into the whereabouts of MacGrady to question him on this matter (among others).

Chapter 8: The Search

Notes:

two chapters this week bc they're both pretty short but dont work as just one chapter.

Chapter Text

Excerpt from Honolulu Police Department Report, filed 02/15/2026
Case No.: 471957

After we returned from Fiji (as mentioned in the 12/10/2025 report), we immediately began our search for Scott MacGrady. We had no reason not to believe a word the Fisher couple said after they obeyed all of our demands (they showed us text messages between MacGrady and Hannah Fisher which contained evidence for everything they said, as well as a cast sheet, and the crime scene lined up with everything they told us as well). Attempts at finding out more about the case proved fruitless (Fisher's therapist couldn't tell us anything due to client files being confidential, and all of their friends, family, and acquaintances said they knew nothing), so we had to find MacGrady, which was a much tougher task than we had expected.

MacGrady had last spoken to Fisher 11/20/2024, and had last read her messages 11/21/2024. He was also last seen online 11/21/2024. Both Fishers were too scared to continue trying to take action against the producers of Survivor, since Hannah Fisher had assumed they had silenced him. According to Jesi Fisher, though, the two spent every day since MacGrady's disappearance debating about whether or not to come forward while trying to carry on with their regular lives. While their Non-Disclosure Agreement hadn't yet expired, we might have been able to make more progress sooner had they told us the moment MacGrady disappeared, mayhaps even the moment Hannah returned from Fiji.

Our first step in this search was figuring out where MacGrady was, which, at this point, we weren't even close to figuring out. We tried to trace his address using his phone number but all we were able to figure out is that he skipped town often and that he lived in Colorado. Then we tried to reach out to Survivor production and they handed over everything they had on MacGrady. We got his ID, though for reasons we were going to discover relatively soon, we had no reason to trust any of the information they gave us. We do not believe they intentionally misled us, but rather, we believe "MacGrady" had a much more sinister plan.

Before we delved further into who "MacGrady" was, we continued our quest for his location. The amount of times he skipped town let us know he was probably homeless. We interviewed upwards of fifty local hotels, motels, and homeless shelters in the towns he skipped to but there were no records of a "Scott MacGrady" checking in anywhere, though most of the people we interviewed said they recognized the physical description we gave to them (it's worth noting that the only living person we know of who has seen "MacGrady" is Hannah Fisher, so our physical description of him came from her). This was unusual to us at the time, though now the picture is a little bit clearer.

Our search for Scott was a resounding failure, nothing the Fishers or the producers could give us helped. We tried to reach out to Jeff Probst, which is still a work in progress. He appears to have changed the phone number the production crew gave us, and none of them are currently in touch with him. Interestingly, many of them noted how out of it and regretful he seemed when they came to Ponderosa to take him back to the mainland. They spoke of him as though he'd turned into a different person after the massacre, which led us to believe there was more to this case than just a mental break.

According to the crew, Probst had suffered some sort of head injury while on the set of Survivor 46 which caused a major change in his behavior. He seemed to have gotten a lot more intense and enjoyed seeing the contestants in pain. He had apparently also been spending a lot of time with "MacGrady" after the cast of Survivor 47 was finalized. All of this led us to believe "MacGrady" actually had something to do with this massacre. Perhaps he took advantage of Probst's crumbling mental health to execute some sort of fantasy involving a massacre.

While the assumption that "MacGrady" had something to do with the massacre was unfounded for a long time, a discovery I've already alluded to has placed him on top of the suspect list. Looking through arrest records for men who matched "MacGrady's" physical description, we found a man who bore a striking resemblance. This man had also been situated in Colorado, was homeless, and had the same birthday as "MacGrady's" ID said. However, his name was not Scott MacGrady. This didn't deter us at all since we couldn't find any records of a "Scott MacGrady" anywhere, and the name this former inmate used was also a fake one. "Scott MacGrady's" name while he was still in prison was Linden Rudolph, though we never did find out what his real name was. He was arrested on several counts of stalking. He escaped a year into his sentence before he broke out and we never found him again. We still haven't been able to locate him or figure out if "Scott MacGrady" is his real name. It has now been two years since then.

All of this adds up way too much to be a coincidence. We feel as though we've made a bit of a breakthrough. This could be a major step forward.

Chapter 9: The Silence

Notes:

ig you could call this chapter 8: part 2, tho for the sake of consistency, these are two separate chapters.

Chapter Text

Partial transcript from interview with Hannah Fisher, originally filmed 01/14/2026

Interviewer: So, I've brought you and your wife in today to let y'all know how the investigation is going.

[Hannah nods]

Interviewer: I know the wait has been painful for you but I'd like you to know we think we're making progress. We still don't know where your friend Scott is, but we have a general idea. We know you know he lived... lives in Colorado, but we found out he might just be homeless.

Hannah: You said "lived."

Interviewer: We don't know if he's dead for sure, but we have to keep that possibility in mind. We assume there's at least one person coming after him, and he did disappear very suddenly.

Hannah: Who's after him?

Interviewer: We don't know for a fact, but we think Probst might be after him. The producers said he seemed pretty regretful about the massacre, and we think Scott might've had something to do with it.

Hannah: Why would Scott help me escape if he wanted us to die?

Interviewer: Well, we've already established he was in on it, right?

Hannah: Yes, he admitted to it, but he tried to warn us.

Interviewer: Yes, and we're trying to figure out why that is. But you mentioned that he seemed pretty apprehensive about every suggestion you made while trying to escape.

Hannah: Yes...

Interviewer: And you said he even tried to talk to you while you were trying to escape.

[Hannah looks down at the table, silent]

Interviewer: Look, I realized it's a tough possibility to face, your savior possibily wanting the massacre to happen, but I just think you deserve to know the truth.

Hannah: But you don't know if any of this is true.

Interviewer: We have probable cause.

[Hannah sighs and looks down again]

Hannah: Look... Thank you for being honest with me. I guess I should know these things. It's just difficult to accept, considering the fact that Scott was the only person keeping me sane during the silence, apart from Jesi. Hell, the reason I remained silent was because of him advising me to do so. And it was fucking painful staying silent for almost two years at this point.

Interviewer: I can't imagine how difficult it was, Hannah, and I really don't wanna make this any more difficult for you than it already is. I would just like you to know we're making progress in the case.

Hannah: I hope you figure it out soon... I don't know if I can take the silence anymore. It's maddening, and I think this madness will only go away once we track Scott and Jeff down. Scenes from that Tribal keep repeating in my head. I can hardly go anywhere without something reminding me of my tribemates. I keep wondering what their families must be thinking. They're all under the impression that their parents and siblings and children and partners are in some luxurious mansion in Fiji waiting for COVID to pipe down. They have no idea they're all long gone. They have to be getting suspicious, right?

[Hannah begins tearing up as The Interviewer hands her a box of tissues]

Interviewer: After we got back from Fiji, we were able to track down every victim's family using their personal items. All of them know but we've advised them not to say anything until we're done with the investigation.

Hannah: Great, torture more people.

Interviewer: Hannah, it's for the best. If Probst finds out how many people really know what happened, he could go into hiding, more than he already has. We need to finish this investigation before we make any of it public. And trust me, once we're able to track down Probst, just about everything should be figured out.

Hannah: If you haven't been able to do that by now, why should I think you'll ever do it.

Interviewer: It's a long and difficult process but it's not impossible. All it takes is for us to track down somebody with a few degrees of separation from him and he'll have no choice but to tell us everything he knows. Trust me, in due time, everything will be fine.

Partial transcript from interview with Jesi Fisher, originally filmed 01/14/2026

Interviewer: Hannah told us all about how hard it was to stay silent.

Jesi: The last two years have just been so difficult, it's a miracle we've been able to stay productive.

Interviewer: It might be relieving to know your suspicions of Scott weren't unfounded.

Jesi: What do you mean?

Interviewer: We've already established Scott knew it was gonna happen, but we think he also had something to do with it. Perhaps he egged Probst on.

Jesi: I'm confused.

Interviewer: Survivor production took note of how much Probst's behavior changed, and he was also seen with Scott quite often. After Scott left with Hannah, Probst seemed to go back to normal.

Jesi: So you're saying Scott might've wanted everyone to die? Even Hannah?

Interviewer: We don't know yet, but our investigation seems to be going in that direction.

Jesi: How much of this have you told Hannah?

Interviewer: Pretty much all of what we've told you.

Jesi: Did she take it well?

Interviewer: Unfortunately, no. She started crying, all the weight of staying silent for two years has really gotten to her, but I promise, we're closer to figuring out what's happening now than we've ever been.

Jesi: I sure hope you are. Hannah can't go to the beach without thinking about her tribemates. Every fancy beach house we see reminds her of the jury house she escaped to. She can't even get on a boat. We wanted to take a vacation to Italy some time this year but now she's scared she's gonna see something that'll remind her of Tribal Council because it was apparently Roman-inspired. And every time she checks her phone, she hopes it's Scott coming back to say he's all okay with all the evidence you guys need.

Excerpt from Hannah Fisher's diary, dated 07/21/2024

My Dear Diary DeDe,

It's been around 3 months now since I came back from Fiji. I still haven't gotten over it. I go to therapy weekly, I talk to all my friends about how I feel, I talk to Scott and Jesi about it all the time and they're always there for me (Jesi if you read my diary, I love you, but also run for your life, I didn't permit you to do that). I wish I could tell people exactly what happened but I think Scott's right about staying silent. Not just because of that damn NDA but I don't need more eyes on me than there are already. I'm sort of an introvert, as I'm sure I've written in you a thousand times (sorry, DeDe, can't believe you've hung in there since college), but I've managed that pretty well throughout my life until now. I can't deal with people constantly telling me I look tired, asking me if anything's wrong when they see I'm on the verge of tears and thusly causing the dam to burst, telling me I'm "not alone" (there are 17 souls back on the Mamanucas that beg to differ), telling me to call the suicide hotline... It's exhausting. I know this isn't easy on Scott either but I'm praying to whatever the hell is out there for him to find whatever evidence we need as soon as possible.

DeDe, am I tasteless for trying to make jokes about this situation? At this point, it's the only way I can cope. I considered going back to binging my Rosé but Jesi, bless her, talked me out of it.

What did I ever do to the universe or whatever higher power there is for me to deserve this? I feel like I'm in a horror movie, hiding from the monster. Hell, this is something even worse. At least horror movie characters know they're running from a monster. I don't know what I'm hiding from. Seventeen people are dead and I'm sitting on my ass, why? Because of some fucking contract? Scott's closer to this situation than I am so I'm trusting his judgement, but fucking hell, I wish it were different.

Excerpt from Hannah Fisher's diary, dated 07/21/2025

My Dear Diary DeDe,

I wrote you a long entry about how hard staying silent has been from me exactly a year ago. Also, it's been exactly 4 months since Scott disappeared. Happy anniversaries! I'm sure you and Jesi are as excited about this shit as I am. I feel like I'm obsessing over an old ex or some shit. Every time my phone lights up I'm like, "OH, MY GOD, SCOTT? IS THAT YOU?" Fucking hell, woman, you're married! He's gone... hiding, surely. He'll be back... right?

Excerpt from text conversation between Hannah and Scott, 01:30 a.m., 11/19/2024

Hannah: Ugh.
I'm so tired.
I can't sleep.
Are you okay?

Scott: I don't know, Han.
I think prod might be after me.

Hannah: What do you mean?
After you in what way?
Are you gonna get sued?

Scott: Possibly.
Or worse.

Hannah: What do you mean worse?

Scott: Can we please talk about this tomorrow?

Hannah: Sorry for prying.
Are you not comfortable talking about this?

Scott: Now now.
I promise we'll talk tomorrow, though.

Hannah: All right.
Sorry again for prying.
Love you.

Scott: Love you, too.

Excerpt from text conversation between Hannah and Scott, 01:30 a.m., 10/31/2025

Hannah: I know it's almost been a year since we've last spoken but I'm throwing out one last Hail Mary.
I'm getting the cops in on this.
I'm tired of waiting and that NDA has expired.
I don't know if we have everything we need but fuck it.
I'm gonna rehearse a little bit today and they're gonna know all about it tomorrow.
Well, all that we know.
I doubt any of these are gonna reach you but I need you to know.

Chapter 10: The Discovery

Notes:

tw: stalking, non-con mentions, ableism, misogyny

Chapter Text

Excerpt from Honolulu Police Department Report, filed 03/22/2026
Case No.: 471957

We just made the biggest breakthrough in this case thus far. One of the deceased contestants (Jennifer Vosrovna) has a sister (Nina Vosrovna) who used to date "Scott MacGrady" six years ago. He was still going by "Linden Rudolph" at the time. Apparently, it was short lived, but they remained friends until they lost touch. Clearly, disappearing wasn't uncommon for "Scott/Linden". Vosrovna still had his number and she let us check their text messages. During their last conversation, he stated he was staying at the 11th Avenue Hotel. We visited this hotel before, but we asked for a "Scott MacGrady". We went back and asked for a "Linden Rudolph" this time, and the hotel staff were able to inform us he had checked into room 11 before he vanished without checking out. Clearly, this was while he was stalking another woman.

We looked inside this room and found an old phone hidden behind a drawer. Apparently, he had been in touch with Jeff Probst as far back as 2016. We foud numerous cast sheets from older seasons of Survivor and "Linden" would often joke about joining the production team to pursue some of the women he considered attractive. Even through text, it was obvious Probst was uncomfortable with these jokes, but "Linden" would remind him he didn't mean them. It's clear that by 2024, "Linden" had changed his mind, though we didn't have text messages to prove it.

Their last message, much like with Vosrovna, was in 2020, in which "Linden" said he was going to stay at the Catbird Hotel. As a Hail Mary, we went to that same hotel and repeated our routine. Lo and behold, we found a phone behind a drawer in room 13 of that hotel. The last message sent on this phone was to Hannah Fisher. This was clearly his hotel of choice. This is the one he'd been secretly staying in before we arrested him and after he broke out. There were no records of a "Linden Rudolph" or "Scott MacGrady" checking out, but "Linden" had reportedly vanished multiple times. Clearly he was going by "Scott MacGrady" on the side, and used this name after he finally got a job on Survivor. In his text messages with Probst, Hannah Fisher was the woman he'd been most infatuated with by far.

We found a message from a number "Scott" didn't have saved sent 11/19/2024, saying the following: "Scott, it's Jeff. I hope you know I've been trying to find you all this time. I know you took advantage of my head injury. I know you tried to take Hannah all for yourself to fulfill your sick fantasies. I know about what you did to the Ponderosa basement. And I know you're still leading poor Hannah on. I'm gonna put her out of her misery soon. If you don't want that to happen, I suggest you start running." One day later, Scott disappears. We have a feeling we know what happened now, and more importantly, we now have Jeff's current number.

15 April 2024. It was 9 a.m. The Survivor production crew was hard at work preparing the season. Everything was ready, with the only thing left to do being preparing the boat compartment with all the contestants' necessities and visiting them at Ponderosa to wake them up and get them on the boat. Jeff Probst was holding a clipboard with all the information he'd need to know about the contestants for the mat chat, standing in the corner, far from the rest of the crew. Suddenly, he was approached by a colleague.

"Jeff! How's it going?"

"Hi, Scott. I'm just trying to memorize all the contestants. You need anything?"

"What's that cute Asian girl's name again?" A mischievous smile appeared on Scott's face.

Jeff chuckled uncomfortably. "New name, same dude. I almost believe those satlking accusations were true."

Scott's creepy smile was replaced by a more serious expression. "Jeff, do not joke about that. You know how traumatizing it was to serve so much time for a crime I didn't commit. I had to break out, for God's sake!" Suddenly, Jeff felt guilty. Scott had spent the last few months since he joined the crew taking advantage of Jeff's head injury. He managed to get into his head, convince him that his conviction for stalking was false, and that he did nothing wrong. He would dangle this fact over Jeff's head like one would swing a toy in front of a dog's face every time Jeff would become suspicious of Scott when he would make creepy comments toward the women on the cast. Scott's favorite woman on the cast by far was Hannah. Jeff showed Scott her audition tape (among others') and Scott decided to apply for the position of Interviewer shortly thereafter. Scott's infatuation with Hannah went beyond finding her attractive.

One of the women Scott was convicted for stalking was named Roselynn Morrison. The two had hooked up at a party and he'd pressured her into giving him her number. Their situationship turned sour shortly thereafter. When the police looked through their texts, they found numerous unnerving sexts in which Scott shared his fantasy of creating a "dungeon" in which to keep Roselynn and "have his way with her." The two were apparently drunk during these messages, though they eventually progressed into something a sober Scott would send to a drunk Roselynn. In one of the hotel rooms Scott stayed, the police were able to find sketches of said "dungeons".

One day, while Jeff was having a text-covnersation with Scott, he offhandedly mentioned how barren and empty the basement of Ponderosa was. Scott "joked" about it being the optimal place for one to "keep a kidnapee," which he convinced Jeff to brush off.

Not very long after, Scott was sent Hannah's audition tape.

"I'm sorry, Scott."

"Nah, it's fine, I shouldn't've reacted like that... Say, I can't wait to see what sick shit you have planned this season."

Jeff laughed. "What do you mean by 'sick shit'? I don't have anything out of the ordinary planned."

"Oh, come on! We all know you love to see these people in pain."

A concerned expression emerged on Jeff's face.

"Don't think we haven't noticed, Jeffrey. Every time a contestant falls over during a challenge, you laugh. You love to look at their bruises. You love to see them starved, dehydrated, tired. That's the whole reason you've been taking away their flint in every New Era season. You love their pain. The entire crew knows it too, they're scared of you. You could make them do anything, you know? You could turn this show into a death trap and they'd all be too scared to deny you anything. They're pussies, they're ants compared to you."

Jeff tried to pay attention to his clipboard but Scott just kept going.

"Oh, and I almost forgot how obvious it is that you enjoy snuffing their torches. When the realization that their dream has come do an end finally sinks in, and you place that snuffer on their flame to let them know they're truly gone... admit it, Jeff. There's nothing like it."

Jeff started breathing heavily.

"Imagine how much better it would feel if you snuffed more than just a torch."

Jeff caught his breath and a small smirk started to appear on his lips. "What do you mean, Scott?"

"Imagine how it would feel to snuff their lives. Imagine them, in tears, all beaten up and dirty, hoping to go to Ponderosa and finally wash themselves and eat some food, and then suddenly... you swing an axe right into their head. You want to do it, Jeff, don't you."

Jeff's eyes widened, trying to contain his smile. "You're insane, Scott."

"Is it so bad to want my friend to make his dream come true?"

"This isn't my... 'dream,' Scott..."

"Don't lie to me, Jeff. I spent like a year in prison, you know what we do to liars in there."

"... What's in this for you?"

"... Hannah. Between you and me, the basement in Ponderosa is a lot less barren... if only I could show it to her. Alone."

Scott stared directly into Jeff's eyes. The months Scott spent taking advantage of Jeff's head injury, gaslighting him, guilt tripping him, awakening his dark side, convincing him that seeing the contestants in pain was fun, and there'd be nothing more painful than the worst fate one could ever suffer finally got to Jeff. He couldn't tame the dark side anymore.

"... I'll arrange that for you."

"I knew you would."

"Arrange what?" asked a worried producer, forcefully turning Scott around toward the rest of the room. Scott gave her an angry glare before looking beside her and seeing a whole room of producers who overheard the conversation.

"Not. A word of this. To the players."

The room fell silent.

"But..." the same producer whimpered.

Jeff walked over to her and stared directly into her eyes. "I own you, remember? Just like I own all of you. Remember Joel? That guy who worked here last season? He questioned me because of how violent I wanted the challenges to be? He'll never work in this industry again. When's the last time any of you have heard from him?"

The producer walked off. The room fell silent again.

Chapter 11: The Questions

Chapter Text

24 March 2026.

Rapid blue and red blinking lights.

A loud and annoying siren call.

A black and white police car.

An unholy trinity. It wasn't the sight Hannah and Jesi were hoping to see interrupt their peaceful Saturday. A diasppointed Hannah put her diary and coffee down on the kitchen table and started walking toward the door. Jesi turned the TV off and stood next to Hannah. Soon enough, the car pulled into their driveway. The Fishers heard doors opening and closing, but they didn't see who walked out.

Nothing could've prepared them for who they saw.

Two knocks interrupted the silence inside their house and Hannah approached the door. Opening it, she had to contain a gasp. "Officer McCade, Honolulu Police Department. Good morning, Hannah," he glanced over behind her, "Jesi, we have someone you two might want to talk to." Hannah and Jesi hardly processed anything Officer McCade had to say, as all of their attention was on the handcuffed man he brought with him.

Jeff Probst. Hannah hadn't seen him since the incident. It felt like just yesterday, though she'd been waiting to find out what happened for almost two years. "May we come in?" asked McCade. "I- Of course," Hannah eventually stuttered out.

McCade, Jeff, and Hannah sat down on the black leather sofa in the living room while Jesi sat down on the ottoman next to them. "Hannah," began McCade, "we were able to get Jeff to tell us everything that happened. We figured it'd be best if you heard it from him. He'll answer any questions you have." Jeff breathed heavily while looking at the ground while McCade explained everything. Hannah simply stared at him, unsure what to say. She had so many questions but found it impossible to allow them to leave her brain.

"Hannah?" asked McCade.

Hannah stared at the ground, then looked back up. "Why?" she asked, looking directly into Jeff's eyes.

"... I wish I had an answer that would satisfy you. I don't even know why myself. I hit my head pretty bad a couple years ago, before we started filming 47... Scott knew. He got into my head. Convinced me I wanted to see you guys dead and... I lost it..." Jeff's voice started cracking as he was finishing his speech. Tears started slowly dropping from his eyes, and Hannah's own eyes started watering too.

"... Scott? He wanted us to die?"

"Yes... so he could keep you for himself."

Jesi clenched her fists. Hannah audibly gasped and put her hands over her mouth. She reached one hand out to Jesi and they held each other tight.

"He was in love with me?"

"Not love... he was obsessed. I always had a feeling something was wrong with him, he always joked about being obsessed with certain women. See, we'd been friends for a long time. During our friendship, I'd show him cast sheets and he'd comment on women he found attractive. I thought it was weird, to say the least, but he was a amster manipulator. He convinced me I was being accusatory and rude. He even convinced me he was falsely accused and arrested for stalking..."

"Huh?" Hannah asked loudly.

"Yeah," Jeff said, before going on to explain the situation. "I can't believe he convinced me it was false... I should've seen the signs. I mean, the jokes about a "torture chamber" should've been a sign for me to cut all contact with him.... Hannah, he joined the 47 crew so he could make that a reality... with you."

Hannah started sobbing. Jesi was left speechless. She joined the three on the sofa and held Hannah, who was running out of tears to cry.

Jeff and McCade went on to answer all of Hannah and Jesi's questions, and within a couple of hours, the picture became all too clear. There was only question left to ask, which Jesi asked for Hannah, who couldn't make words come out of her mouth.

"So... where is Scott? Or Linden? Or whatever?"

"... I found him. He was always skipping town but I managed to locate him in some hotel. I tracked him down and... I confronted him. I stupidly told him I'd call the cops on him and he naturally didn't react well to that... It got physical before I knew it and... at one point I pushed him. Hard. He fell. Fell on a big, jagged rock, head first."

Hannah caught her breath and looked at Jeff, still covered in tears. "Good. When was this?"

"... November 20th, last year."

It was as if a lightbulb went off in Hannah and Jesi's heads. It all made sense now, the strange texts, the sudden disappearance... Scott was dead.

"You didn't tell the cops?"

"I didn't think he deserved to be found. No one's gonna miss him anyway. I put him into my trunk, drove off, and threw him off a bridge into some river.... He could be anywhere."

McCade spoke up. "Tomorrow, we plan on investigating that. We hope to track down his remains, and hopefully we'll be able to find his true identity... He was so young, he probably ran away from home and started going by a fake identity then. God knows when that must've been, or if his family even knows or cares about all he's done."

Through her tears, Hannah asked a question she forgot to ask. "Why did he lead me on?"

Jeff exhaled, eyes still locked on to the ground. "I think it was partially him not being sure what to do, part him trying to figure out how to get you back to his 'chamber' in Fiji without people noticing, part him skipping town to try and evade being tracked down by production and me."

The room fell silent as the last of the tears Hannah's body could generate fell out of her eyes. Finally, she calmed down, and she broke the silence.

"... What now?"

McCade started again. "Good news for you, and the victims' families: You no longer need to stay silent about this. We'll notify the victims' families of this as well, soon. Though, Hannah, we'd suggest a mental health rehabilitation center... for however long you feel is appropriate."

Hannah and Jesi both nodded, slightly worried about the possibility of Hannah going to rehab, but knowing it was probably the best course of action. McCade then looked at Jeff. "Bad news for you, Survivor won't be getting renewed. Not for the foreseeable future."

Chapter 12: The Answers

Chapter Text

17 April 2026. The two-year anniversary of what has been dubbed "The Mamanuca Massacre". Survivor has been cancelled and every complicit producer has been blacklisted from the television industry. The money which was originally planned for the contestants' appearance fees, consolation prizes, and the million dollar grand prize, has been evenly split between all the victims' families.

Shortly after his interview with Hannah and Jesi, Jeff Probst was checked into a psychiatric hospital. The police figured he deserved rehabilitation more than a prison sentence, since the massacre was the result of a mental break.

The search for Scott's remains and real identity was unsuccessful. The police haven't called it off, but it is currently considered a "low interest" case.

A week after the interview with Jeff, Hannah checked into a mental health rehabilitation facility which came highly recommended from another police officer. She checked into it on the last day of March and tearfully said goodbye to Jesi. "I don't know how I'm gonna go... however much time without you. I haven't spent a day away from you in so long... I love you so much, Jesi. Don't forget that. I don't know what I would've done if you weren't there." Jesi broke down and hugged Hannah tightly. "I love you too, baby. More than you'll ever know. You'll be fine, this'll only benefit you. I'll be counting down the days until we see each other again," she explained through tears. Hannah then walked into the facility, waving and blowing kisses to Jesi after every step. She almost tripped up the stairs doing so.

Jesi and the victims' closest friends and family members decided to stay in touch. While Jesi stayed out of the public eye after Hannah's rehabilitation became public knowledge, the rest of the victims' loved ones did the opposite. Most of the money was spent on memorials for the victims and press releases about everything that happened. A lot of money was spent on charities too. After lots of egging on by the families for Jesi to speak up, she caved in and did a press release all about Hannah and how the situation affected them. She also called for Scott's family to reveal themselves, though her calls landed on deaf ears and false tips.

Eventually, Jesi decided she wanted the world to know, in full detail, everything that happened.

On this day, she received a phone call from Hannah.

"Hi, baby!" she screamed into her phone.

"Hi, sweetie. I wish I could call you more often but, obviously, they don't really do that much here."

"Don't worry, I'm just happy I get to hear from you at all. How are you holding up?"

"Eh, as well as anyone in this situation can, I suppose," she chuckled as Jesi did the same. "I write in my diary a lot, and talk to my therapist. I read a lot of psych books too, and talk to other people with PTSD. They do courses on this stuff too, sometimes.

"How long do you reckon you'll stay in there?"

"They're saying I'm holding up incredibly well considering the circumstances, but I'm also a complicated case. They don't think I'm gonna be leaving here until at least a couple more months have passed."

"Still counting down the days. I'm gonna make the day you get out of there the best day ever."

"Ugh, I miss you so much."

Jesi wiped a tear from her face, "Look, don't make me emotional."

Hannah snickered. "Will do. How've you been doing?"

"The yoozh. Can't go a day without people at work offering me condolences. I talk to the other contestants' families a lot, too. They do press releases all the time and I join in sometimes. Also... you wanna hear something cool?"

"Of course!"

"Well... just in case press releases don't reach enough people... I'm writing a book."

"No way!?"

"Way! It's called 'Sole Survivor,' and you'll never guess what it's about."

Hannah laughed. "Is it like a memoir, or?"

"It's like... semi-fiction? It's basically gonna be the true story but with everyone's names changed and some details are gonna be fictionalized. I figured I didn't need to change much for the plot, it's already surreal enough as is."

"Oh, the old Devil Wears Prada trick."

"Yeah, basically," Jesi said while chuckling. "I've been writing since the day you left for rehab, and the contestants' families have been helping me with it. Some of them are writers so it's coming along really nicely."

The two then went on to chat about their lives and how much they missed each other until Hannah was told her time ran out.

"Ugh, I wish I could talk more but they just told me I'm about to run out of time."

"Goddamnit, all right. Hopefully I'll talk to you soon! Kisses!"

"Love you so much, honey," Hannah said before hanging up.

17 June 2026. A staff member in the rehabilitation center entered Hannah's room and told her she had to stay about two more months, and after that, she'd be free. She was also told a package came in the mail for her. Hannah hadn't been expecting it, so she opened it, warily. Inside was another, smaller box, and a letter. She recognized the the handwriting immediately. She dropped the box and crushed her feet. "FUCK!" she screamed, before sitting down on her bed. Rubbing her foot, she unfolded the two-page letter and started reading it. It was from Jesi. After approximately twenty paragraphs of telling Hannah how much she loved and missed her in different ways, Hannah reached the end of the first page, the last paragraph of which said, "Now, for the juicy part."

Hannah flipped it around to see more writing.

Here's the manuscript for my book. See, the producers gave us a shit-ton of money like that was gonna help us feel better. Most of the money went to memorials and charities, but since I was lucky enough to still have you (God, I love you so fucking much), I decided I'd spend it on something else. After I told the contestants' families about the book, they all pitched in with whatever left over money they had to help me promote it. A major publisher picked it up and now it's being shipped to book stores all across America. I also just found out yesterday that a major publisher from France is already interested in translating it. All of this because I promoted the ever-living hell out of it with the money. And they say that shit can't buy you happiness.

Even though there's several trucks full of that book going around everywhere right now, there's only one person who deserves to read it first. Have at it, babe. And send me a letter back detailing all the problems you have with it, I know you're a way better writer than I am, but I tried.

You know, going back to the whole "money can't buy happiness" thing, maybe people who say that are onto something. No amount of money could've brought me to you, and who knows what I'd be doing without you.

Love (so much love, like I can't even put into words), Jesi.

The sign-off was accompanied by a drawing of a heart, and a dried-out lipstick stain. Below all of that was another string of text.

I̷I̷I̷I̷ I̷I̷I̷I̷ I̷I̷I̷I̷ III

Hannah grabbed a pen from a nearby table and added another "I" to the string, then grabbed the box, tore it open, picked up the manuscript, and made herself comfortable on her bed.
