Chapter Text
You stared out the window with a sigh, a coffee in your hand kept you warm in the dark of the night while your aunt, libby, packed up the rest of your things.
You knew you should’ve helped her, but really, you just felt like sleeping.
“why do I have to come to your place? Im an adult, im almost 25” you protested, kicking the glove compartment out of spite.
“honey” Libs voice drew sharp threw her teeth from behind the car. “you should’ve thought of that BEFORE you tried to jump off a cliff! I couldn’t believe it” your aunt walked around and opened up the drivers seat. “you seemed so happy when you were younger”
“when dad was alive” you spat, hand clenched around the coffee cup, why did she have to bring that fact up? Sure you weren’t in the right mind set, but you had been riling yourself up for days to do it, and then one of your roommates had caught you and stopped you.
You aren’t even sure if you were happy they had stopped you-
“my brother- he was- I suppose yes, he did make you happy didn’t he? He was a good unc-“ Lib sat down in the cars seat, clicking the key into the ignition.
“father” you snapped.
Libby stopped for a second and smiled softly. “yes, your father” the land rover rolled forwards and onto the road, away from the apartment you shared
“new frontiers” you mumbled half heartedly.
“exactly!” libby said weakly, a fake smile planted on her face. “now in gravity falls, you’ll have to realize the place has some- history, and anything weird is shunned, so maybe you should change out of those- clothes”
You shot a confused frown at your aunt, what was she on about? “im wearing a jacket and some jeans”
Lib mumbled something about weird patterns, and the two of you fell into a silence. You sighed under your breath and looked out the window again.
And even though you were given a second chance, you still hated these tethers.
Maybe tomorrow would be different.
