Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

My personal notes to everyone : I made this story to fulfill my promise.❤️ Yep. This is so cliche! You may encounter a lot of best friends stories turns into lovers (or not) out there but what can I say, I love those plots too. 🙈🙈🤭 Slow burn romance (although I don't typically enjoy those settings). But anyways let's try. Just randomness  no definitely plan on how this story will go😂😅 chill and lots of fluffiness ( I don't know if my humor button will activate in this story)

"Here take this" Ryoma said handling a small rectangular box on her without any trace of emotions in his face. So typically him.

"What is this again, Ryoma-kun?! I told you I don't need extravagant gifts!" Sakuno scolded him for the nth time. Eyeing the rectangular box, based on how it properly and neatly wrapped from luxury brand name written on it. Sakuno couldn't even imagine how much dollars he spend buying this.

Sakuno glared once more. Taking the box on his hand. "Mou! What will your fans, supporters and those crazy girls chasing you like a bee?! Will say this time to me?! They will put me in hot pot again with pit of fire as if they all wanted me to buried six feet under the ground, or crusified me like it's my final judgement day!!" She litany said.

And in every word she utter, Ryoma's brows keep narrowing and furrowing.

"Just thank you will be enough, right?" He muttered in irritated tone, rolling his golden eyes on hers.

Okay, his getting irritated again. Today, is Christmas Eve and they having a mini celebration in Echizen's garden yard.

It's been a tradition of their family to Celebrate not just only Christmas but also all Holidays including inside of Calendar every year together.

Ryuuzakis' and Echizens' always had this tight knit relationship from generation to generation. From their parents that bestfriends from birth, grandparents, great grandparents and so on. And to proved that, she and Ryoma were the 19th generation of best friends in their family. And they were all expecting that their future children will continue what their ancestors started.

They were so close. Literally, super duper close that even them couldn't remember when or how it's all started. It just one day, they wake up and found themselves sticking to each other like a glue.

To the point that others always misinterpret and put different shades of colors on the relationship they had. And since unfortunately, she was the only girl close to the tennis prince that can hangs freely on him without receiving any glare or threats coming from him and can tolerate and scolded him in his foul and blunt mouth and the fact that she was the only human can translate his body language perfectly from his expressionless face without asking whether he was getting annoyed, pissed or something. She's pretty impressive right?

In fact, their houses were just next to each others and their room were across to each other. Only divided by a big Sakura tree from the middle, that they used on their advantage as it became their personal bridge to sneak in, in each other's room.

"Here..." Sakuno handed her own personal gift to him. "Why I am always receiving extravagant gifts even it's your birthday?" She pouted more. She made a mental note and promise to herself to buy him a better gift next year.

Well, her gift is nothing fancy, she made another scarf to him since her scarf given to him years ago was not in good condition anymore. It almost passed as a rugged now,  however, Ryoma keep using it no matter how she asked him to buy one or how plenty his money on  his own bank account.

For years and years of them exchanging gifts Sakuno always found herself having trouble on what she supposed to gifted to him, most especially when he had almost everything for himself. Branded clothes, luxury items and lots more. He can even afford to buy his own car right now!

At his age of 16 now, Ryoma was really successful. He was the youngest Asian player holding the title of Golden Grand Slam for years in a row now. Impressive right? That's her best friend!

"Thanks, Ryuuzaki" he said, smirking.

Sakuno squinted her eyes looking at him. "Why do you always calls me Ryuuzaki, Ryuuzaki as if I am not dear to you?" She glared. "I am your best friend" she stated the obvious.  "You loved to call me, Sa-chan in the past y'know" she whines.

Ryoma smirked, his one brows raised making a perfect arch. "If I do that, my fans, supporters and those crazy girls chasing after me like a bee. Will say again to you? They will put you in hot pot with pit of fire again as if they all wanted you to buried six feet under the ground, or crusified you like it's your final judgement day." He mimic her words perfectly with hint of retorts.

Sakuno glared at him once more before putting her arms on his shoulder with so much efforts in between. Well, he is much, much taller to her right now compared when they were only 12.

Ryoma hit puberty was undeniably in favored to him. From his glass skin free from pimples and even always playing tennis under heat of sunlight, freaking male God handsomeness, pointed nose, red lips, eye swooning golden cat-eyes he had, even his hair was unruly it looks like not once experience having a bad hair day, physique that is far from a 16 year old guy. So unfair!

Now, Sakuno couldn't blame girls keep flocking around him, even he had a foul personality, he was incredibly popular not only on their school but also in whole wide world.

"Now, what are you thinking, Ryuuzaki?" He asked, so intrigued on her, keeps changing of facial expression.

"why you are so handsome, Ryoma-kun?" She said casually.

Ryoma furrowed his brows, he really found her question out of the box and weird.

"Never mind" she grins. "Call me Sa-chan, I want to hear it." she demanded.

Ryoma straighten his body, making Sakuno lifted on the ground, feet not even touches the ground, Sakuno shifted her position and hugs him from his nape, giggling. Their face were inches apart. She sheepishly grins.

"Please? Call me Sa-chan!" She said in her most sweetest voice. "Sa-chan!!"

"Yadda" Ryoma muttered. He put his one arm on her back supporting her. He groaned in protest on her childishness.

However, the ever naughty Sakuno only to Ryoma didn't faltered. She keeps wiggling and wiggling like a worm on his arms. Making Ryoma hissed.

"Call me Sa-chan! Be quick!"

"Hey! Be still! You might fall"

Sakuno smiled once more, giggling seeing how he looks irritated somehow "you won't let me fall, don't you?" She said confidently. "Now! C'mon! Call me Sa-chan!!" She giggled.

"Yadda!" He stubbornly muttered.

"Call me now!!"

"Yadda!!! Yadda!!! Yadda!!"

"You won't call me Sa-chan, anymore?" Her eyes soften, lips pouted.

"That won't affect me, Ryuuzaki" Ryoma muttered.

But realizing there is no response coming from her, he tilted his head and saw how she looks about to cry.

Ryoma sighed deeply "Fine. Sa-chan" He said in nonchalant voice.

Seeing how Sakuno grins sheepishly once again she hugs him more. "One more!" She even made a one signed using her fingers.

"Sa-chan" Ryoma rolled his eyes. Seeing how she seems enjoying this.

"One more please?!! Last!!!" She bargains.

"Sa-chan"

"Yay!" Hurriedly Sakuno jumps off on his arms as she runs off towards the others.

"Ryoga- nii! I won! Ryoma-kun calls me Sa-chan thrice!!" She excitedly mutter as she runs away

"Hey! You might trip on your own" Ryoma shake his head.

Seeing how she runs like a small child smiling so brightly like before, there are things really constantly remains
