Chapter Text
The ground feels cold, the sound of scurrying can be heard, the surrounding area is blurry, and it’s gotten harder to breathe.
Dogday attempts to move his hand, to no avail. As the little critters from inside exit his body, he feels his consciousness slowly do the same. He doesn’t want to lose to death, yet at the same time, he feels relief to finally be out of the never-ending torment. A part of him simply wants to pass, not wanting to even exist, but the other would like the idea of an afterlife, to see his friends once again, waving at him, smiling and laughing whilst they eat together, talking about the small things like catching a butterfly or having sleep overs…
His thoughts are filled with the warm memories of the smiling critters. He thinks of Crafty asking him to help put the drawings the kids had made on the wall, he thinks of Bobby twirling him around after he gave him a big hug, he thinks of Bubba recommending him books to read when he’s resting, he thinks of Kickin showing him cool tricks and tipe to show off to the others, he thinks of Hoppy running faster than him in a race he was challenged to, he thinks of Picky helping him bake cupcakes to give to the birthday kid, he thinks of… Catnap.
The moment he thought of the purple feline, the warm memories turned sour. He could only think of his wretched smile, hunched back, malnourished body, and those small white pupils that looked down at the canine. He could only think of his unsettling voice calling him a ‘heretic’. He could only think of how he screamed and pleaded to the feline as he tore away his lower half. He could only think of… fear. Any warm feelings toward Catnap were completely buried as Dogday could only feel hatred and anger towards the sadistic follower. As much as he wanted to just die and become nothing, a part of him wants to live just to get revenge on that bastard. But he knows that he’d cower at the sight of him. Just as he did when his friends were killed…
His thoughts were cut by the sounds of heavy footsteps, and the vibrations of the floor. Despite his blurry eyes, he can see a speck of purple. If he could move, he would’ve avoided him immediately, but he could only watch as the feline stepped closer. He stopped in front him, staring at the dying canine with those soulless eyes and empty smile. Dogday wanted to curse him out so much, tell him all the things he wanted to say for his dying words, yell at how he’s ruined his life and how his god is a fraud… But he was too exhausted.. So exhausted that he hadn’t noticed the feline’s paw holding his cheek and turning his head to look at his face.
They stared at each other, Dogday’s sight being filled with the red gas and his nose being invaded with the smell of poppy.. He hated the fact that the last thing he sees before dying was Catnap, the one who tortured him for so long… He despised it. But those thoughts came to a halt as the gas started to take effect, making his consciousness fade immediately. As he closes his eyes, he wishes for Catnap’s demise…
And to let himself rest in peace.
