Shadow can't help but feel like a permanent resident of Sonic's home, so they work it out together.

    Or, Shadow and Sonic move in together unexpectedly. Love confessions, comfort, and learning how to live together. Shadow and Sonic struggle communicating and it causes trouble.

    Sonic has never needed to have precise vision, as signs and words usually flew past him as he ran. But if a mission were to come down to it, Sonic really couldn't make out letters and numbers when they are too small. If his friends were to catch on, they'd surely think he was weak and useless, right? So what happens when a mission relies on Sonic's reading skills and the plan fails?

    Shadow wasn't anyone's idea of the best person to provide support, and his support certainly isn't conventional at first, but after Sonic shows up more and more (and a couple of threats from Amy's hammer), they start to grow close.

    Or, hedgehogs have notoriously poor vision, especially in the light. What if this applied to Sonic?
