Every time I step out into the field I can't help but smile, my eyes drifting over to the beautiful green wrinkly plant that my creator always hated. I walk towards the pea plant, gently plucking each one from the vine and settling them neatly into a basket. One pea stood out from the rest, looking up at me with sorrowful eyes.
"Please, y/n, do not kill us. We love you, we love you oh so much, and it hurts us when you kill us."
I tilt my head, picking the pea out of the basket lightly.
"You're a pea." I turn the pea over, confused. "You can't talk..." Yet, my heart leaps, beating a mile a minute- could it be? My one true love isn't just some strange fantasy?
"I can talk! I can!" The pea wiggles in my palm, growing two stick arms and two stick legs. "And I love you, so much more than even the vine that grew me!" The pea wails. I smile, setting the basket down and bringing the singular pea closer to my face.
"Oh, sweet pea, is it true?" I ask, voice a horse whisper. "Because... I love you too, pea."
The pea nodded, a bright blush on its face.
"Yes, y/n, I love you!"
I smiled brightly, face burning with redness as I gently held the pea, beginning to skip off into the sunset.
