Chapter 1: Sleeping with the enemy *

Chapter Text

Life wasn't as easy as Enid had hoped it would be after the academy. Despite the years of hard work, physical exhaustion and bascially shutting herself off from the world it didn't seem worth it. Maybe if it wasn't for the fact she kept being given the most impossible cases it would be all sunshine and rainbows. But right now most of her friday nights consisted of going to the dive bar near her station and getting wasted alone trying to forget how burnt out she felt. Saying a prayer she wouldn't be called in the next day before entering into the familiar smell of stale beer and cigarette smoke. Sitting at her usual spot she doesn't even have to ask, the bartender just places a beer infront of her and starts a tab.

"Tough week?" He asks as he walks by, handing a drink to another customer. Taking a swig Enid nods, pushing the stray hairs from her once slicked back bun out her face. The endless amount bobby pins in the back of her head starting to hurt her scalp. Rasing her hand she starts to pull them out alongside her elastic. Letting her blonde hair fall down to her shoulders as she shoves them into her hoodie pocket.

"You could say that Galpin". As much as Tyler was no where near a friend Enid appreciated his conversation. Since her only actual friend was Yoko and them working together didn't leave much to talk about once they left the station, Enid was left having to settle for subpar small talk. Atleast Tyler didn't hit on her, well anymore.

As he cleans the counter behind the bar Tyler asks over his shoulder. "Who's the bad guy?"

Scoffing slightly Enid sips her drink. "Why do you always assume its a man?" It was one of her pet peeves about the job, everyone assumed she was an assistant, always assumed her perp was a man despite the fact the majority of her squad was women. "Besides you know I can't tell you".

"Worth a shot" he shrugs turning around and watching as Enid chugs her beer. She wipes her mouth before pushing it towards him. "When do you want me to max you out?"

"Fourty, I don't get payed till next week" when he places another one in front of her she takes it slower this time, finishing it up after about fifteen minutes before spinning around in her seat to look around at the people in the bar.

There was the regulars, guys who came to catch up with their friends, always atleast one couple on a date at the pool table, a few sketchy people who she would keep a close eye on. However she wasn't one to play hero, it had gotten her in enough trouble in the past. But standing way in the corner talking to one of Enid's favourite regulars is a short women. Pitch black hair with an outfit to match. She looked expensive, too expensive to be hanging around a place like this. Where the stools wobbled when you sat down and the lights flickered if the wind blew too hard. Enid knits her eyebrows as she watches her, she looked like she owned the place, hands in her pockets as she looks up at the guy talking to her. Her face doesn't change. Before Enid can look away they make eyecontact making her flustered as she spins back around, hoping the women didn't really notice. With her heart beating in her throat Enid goes to order another drink when a voice behind her startles her.

"Why were you staring at me?" As Enid tries to stammer out a response the women takes the seat next to her "Don't stutter, it mames you sound uneducated" she says harshly as she flags down Tyler. "Give me your best whiskey, double, neat" she glances over at Enid who's mouth just hangs open slightly as she tries to figure out what to say. "And whatever she's having". Tyler looks between them. When Enid nods and mouths 'vodka lemonade' he moves to get the drinks, taking the empty bottle from infront of her. She preferred mixed drinks or spirits but since Galpin's cheapest drink was beer she always settled for it. Sadly her pay wasn't as good as you'd think it'd be for putting your life on the line.

Enid takes another look at the women, something about her is so familiar but she just can't but her finger on it. Like she'd seen her in passing once or twice. "Have we met before? You look familiar"

The women hands Tyler her card when he place the drinks infront of them. "I get that all the time" glancing back over at Enid she looks her up and down "however I don't believe we have, I would remember someone as attractive as you".

Feeling her cheeks flush Enid sips her drink hoping it doesn't look as obvious as it feels. Tyler was clearly feeling generous with his spirits because the vodka burns in the back of her throat. She's kicking herself for the fact her out of uniform clothes were so plain today, just some blue jeans and a pink hoodie, theres a small star embroidered on the chest. A stark contrast from the women next to her. A black button up shirt with pressed slacks, long jacket and boots that looked so polished Enid could see her reflection in them. They look heavy, probably steel toed.

"You're starring again"

Looking back up to the women's eyes Enid feels herself blush before looking away again "Oh shit sorry". She takes a sip of her drink before clearing her throat. "You just um you're really pretty". If she wasn't embarrassed a minute ago she definitely was now. Because despite having multiple girlfriends and situationships Enid still couldn't talk to girls without getting flustered. Feeling like a school girl every time she tried to flirt

"Pretty?" The women asked with a raised eyebrow, lifting her glass to her lips "Haven't been called pretty in a while" Taking a sip before placing the glass back down she speaks again, her voice still monotone. "What's your game?"

"Game?" Enid asks confused, eyebrows knitted together "No game just being honest" the women's face relaxes and Enid taps her foot of the ground. Trying to figure out how to talk to someone who seemed a bit...shut off. "What's your name?"

She doesnt asnwer straight away, Enid watches her face. Its like shes trying to decided what to say. "Wednesday".

The name rings a bell but maybe the drinks are clouding her memory. "I'm Enid"

"So Enid what do you do?"

"I'm a" she couldn't say police officer. She never did. When she just started she would say it proudly, big grin on her face. But after the rose coloured glasses were knocked off and she realised not everyone liked her job, she stopped telling the truth. "I'm a hairdresser"

"Oh? Interesting, my cousin is a hair dresser"

Enid swallows hard and tries to move on. Bevause if Wednesday asked her a single question about her 'profession' she'd be insanely under qualified to answer. "What about you?" With a smile Enid follows it up quickly. "Wait lemme guess...finance?"

"Not quite" Wednesday says as she takes another sip of her drink. "lets just say it's a family buisness, can't quite share the details". Enid looks confused but nods. Maybe Wednesday was like her, maybe her family were lawyers or something where they couldn't talk about it willy nilly.

After a few more drinks, some small talk and lingering glances Enid finally thinks about making a real move. Asking for her number or anything like that, but as she opens her mouth Wednesday beats her to it. "Forgive me if I'm misreading the tone here but" watching her move closer Enid can hear her heart speeing up as Wednesday mouth reaches her ear. "My cars outback and I'd kill to see you laying in the backseat". The way Wednesday emphasis kill makes a shiver run up her spine.

She should know better. Honestly the countless cases she'd had surrounding women in a very similar situation to this should've been enough. But this Wednesday girl is intriguing, different, so she's willing to take the risk. Maybe it's her eyes, there so dark, so cold but Enid can't help but get lost in them. Like black holes that draw her in.

"Let's go then" Enid fakes confidence as she flags down Tyler to shut her tab. But Wednesday waves her off, handing Tyler her card instead.

"Close out both of them please" she watches Wednesday open her wallet and pull out two fiftys and place them into the tip jar. That's a green flag atleast.

"Yes ma'am" Tyler nods, giving a question look to Enid. She just smiles and nods, letting him know she's okay. One of the first times she came into Galpin's some guy tried to hit on her, buy her drinks and eventually tried to take her home. Tyler caught onto her discomfort and sent the guy packing. Since then if Enid winked at him during a conversation it meant she wanted it to end. But this couldn't be further from the truth right now.

As they make their way out the bar and around to the allyway where a black jeep with tinted windows is sitting Enid rasised an eyebrow. "You weren't planning on driving tonight were you?". She kicks herself for the tone, having slipped into her work voice for a second.

"Don't be ridiculous" Wednesday opens the passenger door Enid can see a man sitting in the drivers. "Lurch take your break". She watches the man nod before stepping out, walking past her as he pulls out a cigarette and walks away. Her mind starts racing, what has she gotten herself into?

"Enid?" Wednesday's voice snaps her back, looking to see her standing by the now opened back seat door with her hand out. Taking a deep breath she places her hand into Wednesdays, shocked at how cold she feels. The inside of the car smells clean, a little too clean for Enid's comfort. But before her mind can start to wander again Wednesday is shutting the door as she climbs into the car. Pulling off her jacket and placing it into the front seat. "Are you nervous?"

"A little" she confesses. "I don't really do this"

Wednesday shuffles a little closer to Enid. Now that they're out the bar Enid can smell her perfume, its nice, musky, where as she's wearing some cheap vanilla bodyspray that only cost about five bucks. "I don't tend to do this either if that comforts you at all" she watches as Wednesday's eyes leave her own, looking down at her lips. "You can leave if you wish, I won't hold a grudge"

Shaking her head Enid moves her hand to Wednesday's gently. "Just touch me" moving closer Enid pauses when they're only an inch apart, looking as Wednesday's eyes flutter shut and they close the gap. Her hands moving onto Enid's waist and pulling her in. Careful not to hit her head Enid adjusts so she's now straddling Wednesday's lap as they continue to make out. As her hand roams down to Wednesday's trousers she feels the outline of something in her pocket. There's no mistaking it, that's a knife.

Breaking away Wednesday looks up at her. "It's for plants" clearly Enid sucked at hiding her expressions because Wednesday doesnt miss a beat. "I cultivate rare and exotic species and the knife cuts the stems cleaner than scissors". She watches Wednesday pull it out, W.A engraved onto the black handle. "See?" She flicks the blade up, its only about three inches long and Enid can't pull her gaze away. The endless amount of sirens running in her head aren't enough to fight the wetness growing between her legs. "Harmless"

"Can I?" Her hands reach for it as Wednesday nods, placing it in her grasp. Enid runs her finger across the blade gently, not enough to cut her but enough to fuel the fire in her stomach. Not something she thought she liked, but seeing Wednesday handle it definitely helped her discover something. Flicking it closed she hands it back, watching as Wednesday throws it into the frontseat before looking up at her. Enid's hands move to Wednesday's shirt, starting to work down the buttons as their lips collide again. Wednesday's hands run down Enid's back, cupping her ass to keep her steady on her lap. Slowly Enid starts to kiss down Wednesday's jaw and neck. Smiling into her skin when Wednesday tips her head further back to give her more room. Her hands finish their work on the last button and Wednesday shrugs it off, leaving it on the seat next to them.

Kissing her way back up to her ear Enid whispers softly. "How do you feel about marks?".

"Adore them" as soon as the words leave Wednesday's mouth Enid moves to her pulse, sucking a purple mark while Wednesday's hand makes it's way up to her hair. A tight grip that makes Enid moan softly while she continues to leave hickies across her exposed skin. When she pulls back Enid takes off her hoodie, throwing it into the front seat with Wednesday's jacket. Looking down to find black eyes roaming across her body, full of hunger. She can see a glimpse of a tattoo on her ribs, just peaking out from her sports bra but it's too dark to actually make out what it is.

"Touch me?" It comes out shaky, but she takes a deep breath and steadies her voice "Please?"

In a blink of an eye Enid is now laying flat on her back, looking up as Wednesday towers over her, leg moving to between her own. Giving her some pressure where she needed it most. "God" a choked moan escaping while Wednesday massages her breasts over the fabric of her thin bralette.

"Feeling a little inpatient?" Starting to grind down onto Wednesday leg she gasps when she feels a hand grab her jaw and pull her to make eyecontact. "I asked you a question" her voice is stern, controlling, it makes Enid weak. Despite her strong will and independent nature the place she loved to let it go was in the bedroom. Or where ever a pretty girl happened to have her pinned down.

"Yes" she says breathily as Wednesday's hand starts to travel down to the button on her jeans. Watching her hands work around the button and zipper Enid lifts her hips to let Wednesday pull her jeans off, her panties following softly after. Wednesday's hand is cold when it makes contact with her clit, making her hips jerk slightly before she starts to circle it.

She can feel herself getting wetter as she looks into Wednesday's eyes the way she's so focused on her reactions. Looking for what makes her moan, her eyes screw shut, her breath hitch. When her fingers travel down to her hole and start to circle it Enid bites her lip. "Think you can keep quiet?" Wednesday pauses, the slightest hint of a smirk on her lips "We don't want anyone to hear you do we?"

"I can be quiet" she says quickly feeling Wednesday slowly push into her. Too slowly. "God Wednesday please?". The begging worked because in an instant she's taking her down to the knuckle. Enid slaps a hand over her mouth, trying her best to muffle her noises. She starts by looking up at the ceiling, but one glance down at Wednesday and she can't pull her eyes away. Her neat braids had started to come a little undone, loose hairs sticking out with her fringe messy. The hickies Enid had left covering her chest. And god her fingers, the glimpse of them coming out covered in Enid's own slick is intoxicating.

But her voice? "Good girl". That's what sends her over the edge. Clenching around Wednesday's fingers as she fucks her through her orgasm. Only slowing down when Enid moves her hand, panting desperately for breath. Once her fingers slip out Enid is embarssed at the gasp she let's out at the feeling. Wednesday looks around, presumably for a tissue to wipe her hand but Enid has a better idea. Taking Wednesday's wrist and moving the fingers towards her mouth she pauses when they hit her lips, looking at her for permission.

"Go on then, it's your mess". Slowly she takes the digits into her mouth, sucking and swirling her tounge around them until they're clean.

When Wednesday pulls them out Enid goes to speak but the sound of a phone ringing inturputs her. It's a classical song so Enid knows it isn't hers, if it was the car would be filled with the intro to love story right now. "Apologies" Wednesday's says irritated as she reach for the phone out her back pocket, swiping up to accept the call. Her eyebrows furrowed as she listens to whoever is on the other end. "Sul serio, non puoi aspettare? okay, padre, sarò lì tra venti minuti". With a deep sigh Wednesday reaches for her shirt and Enid's clothes, handing them over. "I hate to cut this short but I'm needed elsewhere".

"Oh um that's fine" Enid quickly pulls on her panties and jeans, it's clumsy and a little embarrassing but thankfully Wednesday is too focused on her own shirt and fixing her hair. Once her hoodie is back on Enid clears her throat. "Can I get your number?"

Instead Wednesday hands her phone over, alreasy opened on the create contact page. "Give me yours". Despite her shaking hands Enid types her number out quickly before handing the phone back over. Wednesday opens the car door and the cold air makes a shiver run up Enid's spine as they step out. "Do you have a ride?"

"Yeah" she's lying, unless uber counts. "I'll um I'll see you around?"

"Get home safe Enid" Wednesday waves over Lurch who's standing at the end of the alleyway stubbing out a cigarette. Enid scurries back inside to wait for an uber as her face cools down. It was going to be a late night with the way her brain was running.

The next morning Enid is woken up by a call from the station. Her thumping headache a sour reminder of the night before. Well until her mind fixates on the way Wednesday looked between her legs. After a quick shower and grabbing a protein bar she makes her way into the station. Running on about four hours sleep and a tripple expresso coffee that cost way too much. The worst part was she could hardly drink it, the bitter taste making her nose scrunch up with each sip. Almost as soon as she enters the bull pen Yoko is infront of her holding out a peice of paper.

"Sinclair we got the sketch of the person you're looking for" the smile across her face should be a good sign, but when Enid looks down its anything but. "Records say her name is-"

The black eyes staring back at her make her feel like she's going to throw up. Fighting past the lump in her throat she mumbles out. "Wednesday Addams". Great, she literally slept with the enemy.
