Chapter Text
It was just a friendly tap, a moment between friends one would think. A playfully push after a close call. They would laugh, evac, and relax for a moment on the ship.
But it didn't play out like that
See C3 had just made it to the evacuation point, with a trail of bugs behind them. Nothing they couldn't handle but exhausted, banged up, and mildly wounded she had choosen to trudge on to the group.
F2 had been her dive partner for a while, they had enlisted together, experienced the horrors for the first time together, had brought eachother back from the brink of death. They saw her first, provided cover as she ducked behind them.
She had just stabbed herself with the stim when they threw down a strike to finish the last few off. Every diver knows the rush that comes from a stim, so maybe the tap on their shoulder was rougher then it needed to be.
F2 had lost their foots slipping and falling, just as the bombs went off. Maybe, just maybe, if they hadn't been standing on that ledge it wouldn't have been a big deal, but they were.
No one wants to die.
It made sense that F2 had panicked to get back up.
It made sense to beat C3 to an inch of life right there, planet side.
The other two divers wouldn't report it, there was nothing worth reporting. C3 had been reckless, she knew the consequences to her actions.
It didn't stop her from crying out in pain. That didn't stop F2 from hurting her. It didn't stop until the other two had dragged F2 and C3's limp body into the ship before it left without them.
Back on the ship the group was given all around basic medical while C3 was down for a few hours. The other divers had been temporary, taking their leave as soon as they could.
F2 and C3 had been separated from their other diver Z1 after a bot sympathizer had successfully sabotage their mission. Tension have been high between the two with the constant revolving doors of divers they don't trust and the wait for Z1s return from commands interrogations.
