Chapter Text
Dallon walked into the room, seeing a slumped figure in a chair, only being able to make out bright blue hair amidst the sea of darkness. The person that was escorting him flipped a switch, the lights turning on. Dallon winces, his eyes trying to adjust to the change in lighting.
“Mr. Weekes, meet Ryan Seaman, or Subject B” the employee spoke, monotone and modulated as usual. Dallon just stood there, staring at him. The man(?) had short brown hair, with the upper chunk dyed a bright blue. He was in a colorful floral button up, not the boring white one Dallon was in. He also wore black jeans, with parts ripped and the ends frayed, finishing it off with converse. Oh, and the glowing yellow ring around his neck- wait what? Dallon had to do a double take, why did he have a glowing ring on his neck!?
“Uh- what’s the thing on his neck?” He sounded uneasy, turning cautiously to the employee who had a look of “oh this is normal” on their face.
“That’s his status light indicator, letting us know what setting he’s in.”
Dallon just stared wide eyed, “so- he’s not human?” He stuttered out, giving the thing a double take again.
The employee gave him some sort of glare, “he’s a robot, now I’ll leave you two be” they deadpanned, walking out of the room and closed the door before dallon could protest.
Dallon just stared at the robot, swaying slightly, he tried to will himself to get closer but couldn’t. “C- can you hear me?” He stuttered out, nerves going right through him. The brunette just continued staring, looking for any sense of acknowledgment. After a few minutes, he suddenly came to life, eyes darting around the room. Dallon squeaked at the movement, jumping back. “Can you even talk?–“
“Yes,” Ryan(Dallon assumed that was his name) paused, his eyes seemingly scanning Dallon’s whole being. “You must be Dallon Weekes, or Subject A, my partner”, he said, sounding so human yet monotone at the same time, it freaked Dallon out. He stood up and walked towards Dallon, Ryan was shorter than him, but not by much, only barely being able to see past the top of his head. “You play bass, correct?” Ryan asked, a hint of snarkiness in his tone. Dallon just nodded slightly, not sure how to answer. How does he know this stuff!? Does he have like my file or something- the brunette was avoiding eye contact with the other man? Robot? Whatever he could call him.
Dallon rubbed his arm, he’d heard that Tellexx was developing robots but he didn’t think they were this far ahead. He took in more of Ryan’s features, brown eyes, that somehow looked dead tired even though the robot didn’t need sleep- did it?? Did Ryan have to go through basic human functions? Dallon shook the thoughts out of his head and went to ask him the questions. “Do you have powers?” Dallon knew he most likely did, since he had to go through the hell of it, he grimaced at that, being reminded of the long, painful hours of experimentation. Constantly being poked and prodded by syringes and needles. Dallon was glad it was over.
Ryan nodded, “I’m able to heal, that’s about all currently. And I was programmed to play drums,” Ryan smiled slightly, but it seemed forced? Like there was no emotion, obviously because he was a robot. “You have the powers of light bending, or as Tellexx calls it, Razzmatazz.”, damn, he must really have my file then. I didn’t know the project name . Dallon just stood there awkwardly, not liking the feeling of Ryan's eyes all over him.
“What else do you know about me??”
“That you're married-”
Dallon groaned, “divorced, sorry, but continue”
“-divorced, had two kids, was in a few bands, The Brobecks and Panic at-”
“Okay, okay! I get it now, you know everything about me!” Dallon put his hand over Ryans mouth to get him to shut up. Ryan just gave him a death glare of sorts, those empty brown eyes staring straight into Dallons soul, it made him shiver. Dallon sighed, moving his hand only to see a smug smile form on Ryan's lips. “What do you gain more emotion every second you talk to me?” Dallon asked jokingly, just giving him an odd look.
Ryan just chuckled,
oh, that sounds really nice
. Dallons eyes went wide, what? Dallon hoped that was just the experience of being isolated talking, he just got divorced, he can't be feeling these things! Dallon snapped out of whatever panic he was having by Ryans voice, “yes, actually. I was programmed to pick up on other humans' emotions and habits to appear more human” he sounded like a nerd explaining it all. Dallon was kind of shocked at how well Ryan was seemingly created, if it wasn’t for the ring on his neck and being told he was a robot, he would think he’s just some random
attractive
guy. They just stood there in silence for a little bit, Dallon trying to not stare, while Ryan was just staring at him without hiding it.
Dallon wanted to ask more questions about the robot, but he didn’t know what. After some thought, he raised his finger and poked Ryan’s cheek. “Jeez, they really made you realistic. Did they skin a human for you or something?” Dallon mumbled, shocked at how realistic the skin felt, feeling exactly like human flesh.
“That, I do not know, I don’t know much about my development aside from some things.” Ryan said, frowning and his eyes followed Dallon moving his hand back down to his side. “Do you know why you're here, Mr. Weekes?”
Dallon sighed, “Don’t call me Mr. Weekes, and no, I don’t even remember arriving here. I just know that they had to inject me with powers?? I didnt even know magic existed!” he backed away and started pacing the small room. “What if I don't see my kids again? Yeah, my ex has custody over them because I would be gone for months at a time touring, but I would always see them after?” Dallon stopped and looked at Ryan, tears welling in his eyes. Ryan started walking towards him and noticed the yellow ring of light turn green.
“Hey- Dallon it’ll be okay, you’ll see them again, I promise” Ryan reassured softly, definitely growing more and more human like he said he would. Ryan gently pulled Dallon into a hug, rubbing his back.
“It’ll be okay..”
