Chapter Text
AUTHORS NOTE:
This work of fiction takes a lot of liberties with history and geography and modern politics. Siberia is not as desolate as is described in this story. Kim Namjoon is simultaneously Korean, and was born in the Assyrian Empire 3,000 years ago. Sugar cane was brought to the Mediterranean around 600 CE; I have pulled that back to 300 BCE.
Anything else that seems incorrect, probably is. I researched to the extent that I felt like I could offer a convincing narrative structure but this is not meant to be a history lesson.
There is a vampire ‘gender’ in the fic, which I think is well explained, but to avoid confusion. Dam: their blood nurses fledglings, they have weaker skin as a result. Sire: they’re stronger, and can compulse younger vampires of any gender.
This story, though with a cast of vampires, is meant to explore trauma and the way that past experiences inform present actions. Their relationships with one another are complicated by eternity, but I think they’ll also ring familiar.
I dearly hope you enjoy this labor of love.
Thank You,
Sara
