Summary
If someone were to ask how Slade was handling the grief of losing his eldest son, he would’ve said that he was doing good. Slade can’t say he had been through worse. Losses he faced in the military, Joey’s accident, and his divorce with Adeline had all been bitterly painful, but Grant’s death felt like he was drowning. The only way to keep himself afloat was to keep himself occupied.
Perhaps going after his son’s killer wasn’t the healthiest of options but it was keeping him from drinking himself into an early grave. He needed a clear head to do what needed to be done.

TL;DR Slade chooses to stalk and torment Dick for "killing" his son instead of going to therapy. Even when vengeance fizzles out, he'll be using Dick to cope :)
