Izuku, Denki, and Katsuki were inseparable growing up, if you saw one the other two weren't far behind. They were the best of friends who always dreamed of being a hero team. They even had a silly little name, The Triumphant Triad, they were small kids with big dreams and even bigger goals. They agreed that Katsuki would be number one and they'd be the second and third-ranking heroes.

But all of that changed when they learned that Izuku would never get a quirk. He had all the traits of quirklessness and they strongly believed he'd never develop one. Katsuki became a bully, he hated Izuku now and his tormenting was relentless. Katsuki assumed Denki would follow him, he is the leader after all so why wouldn't Denki choose him?

But that didn't happen, in fact, Denki grew to hate him with s passion. Instead, he convinced Izuku to forget about Katsuki, the boy wasn't their friend anymore. The trio broke apart and became a duo. Not long after that, they learned the truth, the absolutely terrifying truth.

Izuku Midoriya was not quirkless.

Chapter 1: ✙ Prologue ✙

Chapter Text

Izuku and Denki looked at the boy before them in distaste and slight anger as he grinned at them. His minions laughed loudly from behind him, encouraging his mean and hateful behavior.

"Leave us alone Kacchan," Denki glared.

He had come out of nowhere and tripped Izuku causing him to scrape up his arm. The small boy sniffled as he looked at his ex-best friend, pain and sadness in his eyes.

"Why are you still hanging around that Deku? We're stronger than that quirkless freak so we should stay away from him. If you keep clinging to him people are gonna start thinking you're a freak too," Katsuki told him.

Denki just took Izuku's hand and brushed past him harshly, "I'd rather hang out with him over a bully like you any day so stay away from us. If you ever hurt him again I'll shock you," he threatened.

Izuku wiped his eyes, "But Kacchan's our friend, you shouldn't fight him,"

Denki shook his head, "Kacchans, not our friend anymore Zuzu, friends aren't mean to each other. Just forget about him, we can be a team all by ourselves,"

"Ok, Nari..." Izuku said quietly.

Katsuki watched them go, his fists clenched at his sides angrily. Things weren't supposed to happen like this.

✥✥☉✥✥

{2 years later}

Izuku followed after Denki nervously as the boy excitedly maneuvered around the various trees around them. They were currently deep within the woods, Denki wanted to show Izuku something he saw on a hike with his mom. He insisted that he knew where he was going but Izuku feared that they were lost.

"Nari, are you sure you know where it is?" Izuku asked.

"Of course I do, now hurry up, if we stay out too long we'll get in trouble," Denki smiled back at him.

"M-maybe we should head back and your mom can bring us tomorrow," Izuku suggested.

"No way, it's your birthday, and I promised I'd show you something cool," Denki told him.

"That's ok I can wait, it's going to get dark soon and I don't want to get lost," Izuku looked around nervously.

Denki stopped and walked one to Izuku, "We won't get lost I promise, it's just past that really big tree. After you see it we'll head back home ok?"

Izuku nodded, "Ok Nari,"

Denki grinned, "Race you to the tree," he yelled, taking off.

Izuku ran after him, "You cheater!"

Both boys laughed loudly as they ran through the woods without a care in the world. Izuku had been scared about going this far but with Denki next to him he always felt safe. As long as he had him he knew he'd be ok, all he needed to be happy was his mom and his best friend.

"I win!" Izuku bounced excitedly.

Denki panted with a grin, "Are we sure your quirk isn't having super stamina or something?"

Izuku rolled his eyes, "We barely ran that far you're just lazy Nari, you play too many video games,"

Denki gasped like he was offended, "There's no such thing as too many video games!"

Izuku giggled as the boy stretched, having finally caught his breath, "So what did you want to show me?"

"It's just over here," Denki took Izuku's hand, guiding him past the tree.

Izuku's eyes widened in awe as he looked at the waterfall surrounded by the prettiest flowers Izuku had ever seen. They were all kinds of beautiful shapes and colors, the most vibrant colors Izuku didn't even know existed.

Denki just smiled at Izuku softly, glad to see his friend so happy. Denki always thought Izuku was the prettiest when he's happy or excited, it was his favorite expression to see on Izuku's face.

"It's so pretty," Izuku said in awe.

"Yeah it really is," Denki stepped forward to get a better look.

The ground beneath them started to give way making them look at each other wide-eyed. Izuku's body moved almost immediately, pushing Denki away before he fell with him. Izuku tumbled down the river cliff and cracked his head on a large rock below. Denki sat on the ground, frozen, as his mind tried to process what just happened.

"I-Izuku," He gasped.

He crawled over to the edge and peered down in search of the boy and looked around frantically. When he spotted him he immediately stiffened, his heart sinking to his feet as his body ran cold. The boy lay there beside the rock, his body still and his chest unmoving. But worst of all was the blood, there was so much blood, it leaked off the rock and into the river painting it red.

"Izuku!"

Denki quickly got to his feet and hurriedly made his way down and over to Izuku. He waved his hand under his nostrils but felt no air. His eyes watered as he shifted a little and placed his head on Izuku's chest listening for a heartbeat. He heard nothing and shakily felt for a pulse still not finding anything, Izuku wasn't breathing.

"No no no no no, Zuzu please wake up," Denki cried.

He was panicking, he didn't know what to do in this situation, he was only a child. On tv, they always perform CPR when someone isn't breathing. So that's what he did, one minute... four minutes...six minutes...thirteen minutes. That's how long Denki has been giving him CPR, that's how long Izuku hasn't been breathing.

Denki held the boy as he broke down, cradling him in his arms, "No! I killed you! This is all m-my fault, you wanted to go back. W-we should've went back," he cried loudly.

He blamed himself, he made Izuku come here, and because of his stupid mistake, Izuku died saving him. He killed his best friend and on his birthday, he was nothing more than a filthy murderer. Denki's hand trembled as he brushed Izuku's hair from his face as more tears poured from his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, p-please don't leave me Zuzu. Come back, I-I don't want to be all alone. We were gonna be the wonder duo remember? W-we were gonna be heroes, you can't die yet, please. A-auntie Inko still needs you, I still need you here, don't go. I'll do anything so, please don't go," Denki left out pain-filled sobs.

Izuku's dull lifeless eyes twitched, making Denki freeze up in fear and shock. He thought that he was losing his mind, surely he was going crazy, he probably went into shock. Izuku's eyes moved again, this time more noticeable and Denki quickly wiped the tears from his eyes.

"Zuzu?" He called out in disbelief.

Izuku's eyes locked onto him, life slowly returning to them as Denki looked at him in shock. He quickly wiped his tears from Izuku's face as the boy continued to look up at him.

"N- Na-ri?" Izuku barely managed.

More tears fell, "Zuzu!" he cried.

Suddenly Izuku gaged harshly and Denki quickly turned him to the side, fear sinking in as the boy threw up blood. Very large amounts of blood, more blood than Denki thought they had in their tiny bodies.

"Zuzu what's wrong!" Denki panicked.

He could see the large injury on the side of Izuku's head, the injury that had killed him, slowly begin to heal itself. That shouldn't be possible, not unless-

"You have a quirk! Y-your head is healing!" Denki yelled in surprise.

"S-somethings wrong with me," Izuku wheezed.

"Are you ok?" Denki panicked.

"O-our moms, I can hear them-" Izuku threw up some more "-T-They're in the woods, they're l-looking for us,"

"Come on we have to get you to them, the grownups can take you to a hospital," Denki told him.

He quickly helped Izuku up and put the boy's arms around him so that he could support him. He was glad Izuku was so light but he was just as small so he still struggled. Izuku told Denki which way to go and Denki trusted Izuku so he followed his directions. It was getting darker but Izuku could still see just fine and continued guiding them. Soon Denki spotted familiar yellow and green blobs and teared up once again.

They picked up pace as Denki began calling out to them, "Mom! Auntie! Help! Zuzu got hurt!"

The two women whipped around before finally spotting their children. They rushed over to the boys, frantically checking over them upon seeing the blood.

"What happened!?" Sandā, Denki's mother, yelled.

"We went to see the waterfall but the ground broke and Zuzu pushed me away! H-he hit his head and I tried to bring him back but he died! H-he wasn't breathing for a long time then he woke up and his head started healing! He has a quirk but now he keeps throwing up blood and I don't know what's wrong!" The boy explained frantically.

"Oh my God my baby, are you ok?! D-does anything hurt? Sandā we have to get him to a hospital!" Inko yelled as she picked up the small boy, holding back tears.

The woman picked Denki up, "Let's hurry to the car,"

Izuku's head pounded violently as his mouth ached painfully, "Mama it hurts, it hurts so much," he cried.

"It's all right baby, you're gonna be ok," Inko tried to soothe him.

Izuku's mouth salivated as he shivered, he felt cold and hungry, so, so very hungry. He hugged Inko's next tighter as his hunger became maddening. She smells so good, has his mother always smelt this good?

"Good..." He mumbled.

"What?" Inko asked, not hearing him.

"I'm hungry, I-it hurts mama, why am I so hungry? I-I want it, s' good, it smells so good. I want it, please let me have it," Izuku startled to mumble crazily.

"What's wrong sweetie? Tell me-"

Without warning, Izuku opened his mouth wide and sunk his teeth into his mother's neck. She screamed out in pain and they toppled to the ground as she threw him off on pure instinct. Sandā immediately stopped running and turned back to her friend.

"Inko are you alright?!"

"I-Izuku what are you doing?!" Inko yelled, frightened.

Izuku slowly walked towards her, tears running down his face as his eyes glowed a murderous red color.

"It hurts, mama it hurts, I don't wanna hurt you but it smells so good, your blood is so good. I'm so hungry, please make it stop, w-why can't I stop!" Izuku cried.

Inko looked at her terrified child and opened her arms for him. He quickly hugged her and she tightly hugged him back as he shook and cried.

"I don't wanna, I don't wanna hurt you but it smells so good. I feel like I'm dying it hurts so much, I don't wanna die again mama! I'm scared I don't wanna die!" Izuku cried.

"It's alright, I'll be ok, go ahead," Inko said sweetly "Everything will be alright,"

Izuku bit down once again and Inko bit back her pain as she rubbed Izuku's back gently. Sandā found them and she froze up in fear, Denki in her arms just as frightened.

"I-inko-"

"It's ok," Inko smiled "I need you to t-take care of him ok? This isn't his fault so don't fear him, he isn't in control of it. Please tell him it isn't his fault, love him for me ok?" She cried.

Sandā sunk to her knees holding Denki to her chest tightly as she watched in horror as her best friend slowly die.

"P-promise me, p-promise you won't abandon him. H-he needs you, please keep him safe," Inko begged weakly.

Sandā nodded as her own tears finally fell, "I promise,"

Inko smiled sweetly, "My sweet b-boy, I love y-you so m-much,"

Her hold on him loosened as her neck fell to the side lazily and the light left her eyes. Izuku pulled away, blood smeared all over his mouth, dripping from his chin.

"Mama it doesn't hurt anymore," He smiled.

Inko's body limply fell over and Izuku turned with a frown, "Mama? Come on get up you can't sleep here it's yucky,"

Izuku's eyes landed on the large bloody gash on her neck and looked down at his hands. Blood dripped into his palms and with shaky hands, he touched his face. He pulled them back and his eyes widened seeing the dark blood covering them.

"M-mama? No- N-no no no no! Mama wake up! Mama wake up! No don't die I didn't mean to please don't die! What did I do?! I-I hurt mama," Izuku cried out loudly.

Sandā quickly made her way over and pulled Izuku away from her body. She held the sobbing boys tightly as she silently cried herself.

At six years old Izuku Midoriya killed his mother. She was his first victim but she surely wouldn't be the last.
