Meggy and Tari walked back to the Showgrounds together, three small bags in Tari's hand. They had just gotten back from GameStop, where a new exclusive wave of Ultra Jump Mania figurines dropped. Meggy didn't really get the hype, or why Tari was so ecstatic about it, but whatever makes her happy.
The two girls stopped when they arrived at their destination, Meggy was just about to say something when Tari hugged her tight. She immediately felt her face heat up by the sudden act of affection, I-it just caught her off guard!! That's it!
"Thank you so much for today Meggy! I really enjoyed spending time with you.. And these figures are so cool!! I cannot Wait too put them in the Game Room!" Tari happily rambled, releasing her from the hug to show off a figure of Theo. Meggy chuckled softly, a bit of blush still present on her cheeks.
"Of course! I'm glad you were able to get them" She smiled warmly, Tari's infectious joy was truly adorable. It made her heart flutter, was that weird? Probably not.
"Well.. See you later?" Tari fidgeted, an awkward smirk on her slightly red face. Why was her face slightly red? No idea. But it was kinda cute...
"Y-yeah!" Meggy gave her a thumbs up. Shit. Why'd she stutter!? And was a thumbs up really the first thing that came too mind?? Idiot!
Tari waved goodbye and entered the tent, leaving Meggy alone to process what the fuck just happened. Did she call Tari cute AND adorable?? And did she blush when Tari hugged her?? D-Do I... Like her? I mean we've been through a lot together.. Especially recently, have I felt different around her lately?? Suddenly, she got hit with a flashback. When they were fighting Mr Puzzles, he at some point in their fight threw her, and Tari miraculously caught her- bridal style, in her arms.. Oh
"Hey-a Meggy!" Mario shouted from beside her, causing her to yelp and fall over.
"Red! When did you get here?" Meggy questioned whilst rubbing her head, slightly annoyed.
"Mario saw you-a blanky staring at the tent and wanted to say Hello!" He, rather enthusiastically yet casually, said.
"Okay?" Meggy rose a brow and got up, dusting the dirt off her pants. It wasn't unlike Mario to do something like this, but there was something suspicious going on.. She could just feel it!
"Soooo why were you-a staring off into-a space like that?"
"No reason!"
"Ooohh really? HMM... Then why were you-a blushing the entire time you-a were with Tari?"
"I-I WAS NOT!"
"THAT'S SUSPICIOUS!"
"L-look! I-I.. Think.. I may have a crush on Tari..."
"You-a guys aren't already dating?"
"W-What?? NO! If you already thought we were dating then why'd you think I was so flustered?!"
"Uhhh... I don't a know! Maybe you-a made love for the first time?"
That was the line that broke her, the line that made her freeze and caused a nose bleed, the line that made her as red as a tomato and made Mario release the laugh of the century. Usually she'd have been irritated, but that one line rendered her useless...
"Oh wow! Mario hasn't laughed like-a that since It's Gotta Be-a Perfect! But don't-a worry Meggy! Mario is the greatest wingman ever! He will-a help you!"
Meggy just stood there, absolutely flabbergasted. So Mario took that as a yes! Patting her on the back and skipping along, humming his theme song.
