Chapter Text
Malleus Draconia, a stoical fae prince from Briar Valley, is often viewed as dangerous and powerful. This view of him was not a lie, it was quite true infact. However, that often ostracized him from his peers, no one ever dare to approach him. His fellow third years often hesitant to approach him unless obligated to do so. The most he had ever interacted with being the other Housewardens as they often held meetings... meetings that many forgot to remind him of.
It wasn't as if he was completely alone though, his vice Housewarden and long time caretaker and friend Lilia Vanrouge had been with him ever since he was young, guiding him through the world. Along with him was Lilia's son Silver who had become a his retainer and guard. And of course Sebek Zigvolt, his other guard and retainer, whom had undying sworn loyalty to Malleus.
Yes life at Night Raven College was not completely lost in the depths of loneliness, not one bit. Once pondering his thoughts, he had ended up at the old run down dorm like he always did, finding comfort in the dark of night. That night was different though, he had found himself and audience with a short petite human. The boy had greeted Malleus so casually, not a hint of fear. He introduced himself as Yui Kato, the new Prefect of Ramshackle Dorm, a magicless human attending the prestigious Magic school of Night Raven College. He was so curious, so polite...he had held no fear of Malleus, granted, it wasn't like Malleus gave the boy his name. Malleus recalls that night a fated encounter, one between the fae prince of Briar Valley, and a magicless human, Yui Kato.
Malleus and Yui would find themselves encountering each other more often as time went on. Malleus never understood what it was that made him immediately realize that Yui was around, maybe it'd be they way he spoke, maybe it was the way the boy carried himself, proud yet considerate. Or maybe it was his appearance alone, Yui was quite small for a boy his age, however his endurance was quite visible. His hair was a mystery on its own, black and white, faded at his bangs and ends of his hair and a singular pink swirl at the front, when asked the boy never answered what his natural hair color was, the question almost bothering him. He had two longer strands that rested perfectly on either cheek forming the shape of his pale face. He had sapphire blue eyes with long eyelashes. If his appearance wasn't enough to draw attention, then it would be his personality and secretive past that made him who he was in the present. Yui was kind and caring, he had a love for flowers and animals. He could be quite social with the right people, or quiet and obedient, and at times defensive and aggressive. He also found himself in much trouble with many dorms, but always ending up with more friends.
Malleus grew even more intrigued when he'd overhear that Yui was quite acquainted with some of the other most feared students around NRC. Such as the Leech Twins as well as Azul Ashengrotto, the Leech twins following Yui around and Yui even visiting them. To Riddle's fortune, Floyd had become attached to the boy and had layed off bothering Riddle every once in a while.
Another surprise was Leona Kingscholar's association to the Prefect, not that they were friends by any means no no, but it was evident to see that he treated Yui with the same care as he did with other first years like Epel Felmier and Jack Howl.
Malleus had a mixture of envy and interest, a single human could make so many connections in a setting that was surely made to eliminate him. Malleus was beyond intrigued, sometimes he'd find himself returning to Ramshackle more and more, in hopes of learning anything new.
Despite everything he's learned about Yui, he still held his tounge at revealing his identity, a part of him knew the boy wouldn't mind, or understand for that matter...but it still made him wary. But after a couple meetings, the boy had to call him something, so Malleus let the boy refer to him as whatever he wanted
"Hmm... how about Tsunotarou?" Yui stayed in a casual manner.
Malleus looked at him in surprise, "Tsuno..tarou?"
"Yes! Because of your horns." The boy smiled and pointed out Malleus's horns on his head. "Is that alright?" He said with a puzzled expression.
Malleus huffed softly, "Very well, you may call me by that name as you please." Yui nodded then added, "You know you can call me by my name as well, Yui is just fine, or Kato I don't mind either way." Malleus chuckles, "is that so.." he then looked up admiring the moon, then looks back down at Yui. "I believe now is the right time to retire for the night, have a pleasant night ... Child of Man..." He vanished.
Yui stared in disbelief, then whispered, "I don't like being ignored you know...." Yui walked back inside of Ramshackle, expecting to hear Grim's soft snores as he head up to his room.
