Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“We have spotted her at a public highschool called Anakt Academy. The plan is to be set in motion tomorrow, Your Highness.”

Ivan stared at the photographs and documents laid across on the table, with seeming disinterest. Apathetic gaze moving towards the speaker, as he raised an eyebrow.

“You don’t say.”

As the Crown Prince of the Byeong Royalty line, it would only be suitable if he married into a family with incredible and upstanding reputation as his, such had been the tradition for generations ever since the Byeong family came into power under the crown hundreds of years ago.

For Ivan Byeong, such family seemed to be the country’s most influential industrialist, the Rubyka family. With factories scattered all over the nation and contributing in more than 60% of the annual income alone, it seemed obvious that joining two families together would result in the most incredible power uprise. The Rubykas had an only daughter, Mizi Rubyka. When the Byeong family came to the Rubyka family with the proposal of merging the two families together through marriage, the Rubykas shockingly, declined.

The reason? They loved their daughter and respected her wishes and consent, which lied in living a normal life, shielded away from the public and the media. So much so that no one neither knew the name of the Rubyka family’s most cherished daughter, nor what she looked like. They had taken such care into keeping Mizi anonymous from the world so she’d have the privilege of living a life on her own accord, without being confined to ridiculous etiquettes and protocol, without being subjected to thousands of judging eyes.

It was unusual, really. A rich and influential family actually showing their kin affection, rather than using them as an object to showcase their power and dominance over casual folk. It was ridiculous, frankly because Ivan had never heard of such a phenomenon before.

Since Mizi Rubyka chose to hide away from the public view, she had resorted to living a life as an average, middle class, highschool student at Anakt Academy. She didn’t even go by her legal last name, Rubyka (for obvious reasons), instead choosing to be addressed as Mizi Rubi.

Safe to say, getting to know about her personal information, even through a private investigator, took incredulous amount of effort and work. The plan? The royal highnesses, Prince Ivan Byeong and Princess Sua Byeong, join Anakt academy under the guise of “getting to know their subjects personally” which not only painted them as humble leaders to the people, but also gave Ivan the chance to sweep Mizi off her feet and getting her agreement for their marriage and union.

Ivan and Sua’s parents can’t simply afford to lower their standards and form a union with a family less worthy than the Rubykas. The public would never let this go and it would create a huge dent in the family’s carefully carved reputation. If showering them with gifts and riches and promises of titles, didn’t convince them, then surely approval from their own daughter directly, would. Sua’s suitor had already been arranged and she was to be married to Duke Derik from the West Islands, as soon as she turned eighteen. What was left was for Ivan to get close to Mizi Rubyka and get married, as the crown prince was nearing the age of adulthood. The plan must be executed without fail.

Everything was methodical, calculated.

Until a certain silver headed delinquent barged into Ivan’s life and tumbled it altogether.
