Summary:

After Tsukasa's last year of high school his life fell apart. Out of desperation he moves an hour away from Shibuya and cuts off contact with all the important people in his life. A year later he ends up finding people like him (depressed). They decide to join together to reshape their lives by becoming Vtubers!

Chapter 1: Ichika has a thought.

Notes:

I actually despise writing why am I doing this.

It’s been two years since Tsukasa graduated. What has he done with his life?....Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He feels completely hopeless, how did things end up this way? Well….

It all started in his last year of high school.

“Tsukasa-kun! What university are you applying for?”

“Oh, I’m not applying for university Rui. I’m going straight to look for a job!”

“Oya? I’m not sure that’s a good idea..what happens if you don’t find one? I think it’d be better if you at least apply for one, you don’t have to accept”

“Rui I am confident in my ability to get accepted into at least one good job! What could go wrong?”

Everything.

“Okay …if you say so…but if anything goes wrong tell me, i’m here for you, ok?”

“I will! I will! Anyways, did you get accepted into any of the universities you applied for?”

“Yeah! I did! I got accepted into _____ University”

“That’s great! Let's make the rest of this year our best one yet!”

“Fufu” Rui let out his signature giggle. “Of course!”

After Wonderland x Showtimes last show everything changed.

Rejection after rejection after rejection after rejection.

Not a single place accepted me. I felt alone at that moment. I knew there were people who could help me get back on my feet but..I couldn’t bring myself to ask for help… Maybe it was my pride? Or the fact that everyone around me seemed the happiest they’d ever been….Who could I ask for help?

 

I could ask Saki for help but I should be her reliable older brother! SHE should be asking ME for help, not the other way around. Plus she’s busy with her band and her last year of high school. Which also takes Emu and Nene off the table because they’re also in their last year of high school.

I remember Rui told me that I could contact him any time but I don’t want to be a burden to him. He’s busy in University doing his work and achieving his dreams, making new friends, heck maybe he even has a girlfriend or something..I mean he is quite handsome so I wouldn’t be surprised but, for some reason my stomach churns just at the thought of him dating someone..Weird right?

So there I was. Jobless. Well, I did manage to get a job in a café. It is pretty easy to get and the pay is decent. Even so, I'm still a failure.I fell into depression and I stopped contacting my friends or visiting sekai. Every time I try to talk to them I feel some sort of guilt, shame maybe...

I lived with my parents for a year after graduation before I eventually moved out to live in a small apartment in Hadano (about an hour away from Shibuya), it was as far away from Shibuya as my mind would let me. I got a job at a local café. After a couple months of living there I stopped talking to my family as well, officially cutting contact with everyone in my life. Was I proud of it? No. Did I do it anyways? Yes. I was so ashamed of myself I cut off everyone in my life for no reason. I sure am a loser.

So that brings us to now! Tsukasa was a depressed (yet good looking) 20-year-old with no family or friends, surviving off of his shitty salary. Yay! Recently he bought a computer and has become internet obsessed. Some of his favourite things are: Vtubers, posting on social media, talking with strangers on nightcord and venting anonymously on reddit (he’s not too proud of that one though)!

The loser Tsukasa has four main people he talks to on nightcord with the persona of “supernova”. K, Yame, Pup and I11(pronounced [eye eleven]). He wouldn’t exactly consider them “friends”, more like companions, like him they failed to achieve their goals, they’re all failures one way or another. Their GC is called “loser station” for a reason after all.

One day I11 proposed something that would be the exact thing he needed to get back on his feet.

Little did the group know that they were way closer to these seemingly strangers then they had imagined…

The first to arrive at Tsukasa’s house was Pup.

Ding dong~

“Oh that must be one of my acquaintances!” Tsukasa said to himself

He then walks over to the door and opens it shocked to see

“KOHANE??”

“Eh?..TSUKASA??!!”

“Huh??????Y-you’re pup???”

“YOU'RE SUPERNOVA??..actually I probably should have seen that coming…”

“C-come in..”

Tsukasa closes the door behind her as she enters the house, takes off her shoes and makes her way to the living room.

“Sit down” She complies, taking a seat on the far end of the couch.

“May I offer you anything?”

“Maybe just a glass of water..”

“Of course”

Tsukasa walks into the kitchen leaving Kohane alone with her thoughts

I haven’t seen Tsukasa since Wonderland x Showtimes last show…How’d he end up all the way in Hadano? Kohane thought to herself.

She’s broken out of her thoughts when Tsukasa walks back into the living room with a glass of water. He sets it down on the table and sits down next to her.

“So. What happened with Vivid Bad Squad?”

“Well we made music together until graduation where everyone went their separate ways. An is somewhat famous for her party gigs, everyone loves her music, including me. Akito and Toya became a duo and release songs regularly, gaining a lot of traction online. And me, well..I never did find out what I wanted to do with my life. I tried doing gigs like An but it didn’t really work out. I also tried making music online. Nothing ever sounded right though..That’s how I ended up on nightcord. Talking to people with the same struggles as me makes me feel..Normal, Important, Recognized. I still live with my parents but now I work at a flower shop!”

“Wow Kohane I didn’t know you went through so much..I’m glad we’re together now. I’m glad we’re friends.”

“Well, Tsukasa, you never told me what happened to you. Why did you move away from Shibuya?”

“Hehe” Tsukasa laughed awkwardly and started playing with his fingers. He looked clearly distressed. “Ummmm well..”DING DONG “Oh-! I’ll get that hehe!” Tsukasa said as he bolted to the door and opened it as fast as he could.

“TSUKASA-SAN????”

“Ichika????”

“Tsukasa, who is at the door?” Kohane said from the living room.

“IT’S ICHIKA” Tsukasa responded before turning to face Ichika “come in”

“Tsukasa what the fuck have you been doing this past year, Saki was worried sick!”

“I’d rather not talk about it. Just go to the living room now ok?”

“Fine” Ichika then walked to the living room and started conversing with Kohane. Tsukasa obviously noticed how upset she was but chose to not do anything about it. Maybe one day he’ll tell them what happened but for now it’ll remain a secret.

Tsukasa was about to go to the living room but he stopped himself when he overheard a conversation.

“Leo/Need still performed to this day just without me.”

What? Why don’t they perform with Ichika anymore?? Tsukasa thought to himself.

“Awww Ichika :((, do you want a hug?”

“Yes please :>” Then they hugged.
Tsukasa decides that this is the perfect moment to walk into the living room.”Do you girls want anything to eat?”

“I am a little hungry..” Ichika said, still in Kohane’s arms.

“Ok! I’ll go cook something ok?”

“Kay!” Kohane responded as Tsukasa once more left the room.

The two girls ended up holding their hug for a few more seconds before pulling apart and continuing their conversion.

DING DONGGGgggggggg…..

“Kohane, could you get that please!” Tsukasa shouted from the kitchen.

“Of course!” Kohane then walked over and opened the door.

“AHHHH MINORIIIIII :DDD”

“Wh-KOHANEEE :DDD”

Both girls started squealing in pure happiness of seeing each other afterwards hugging briefly and making their way to the living room.

“Hmm Minori? Hello :>” Ichika greeted.

“Hi!” Minori responded.

Tsukasa obviously overheard their conversation form the kitchen so he began to make extra food for Minori and also their last guest.

Ding dong.

I’ll get it! Kohane offered before she was rudely interrupted. Ding dong “Again???” Ding dong. Ding dong ding dong dingdong dingdingdingding. The door was then flung open by a slightly annoyed Kohane.

“Hey I heard you the first time, Kanade!”

“Sorry..I just wanted to press it”

“It's okay…just come in Tsukasa is making food”

“Tsukasa? Tsukasa’s here? Wait a second…Why are you here Kohane??”

“Well…Basically..I’m pup, Tsukasa’s Supernova, Ichika is I11 and Minori is Yame!”

“Whaaaa”

“Come say hi to the others!” Kohane leads Kanade to the living room with the rest of Loser station where they continue talking about how they became depressed 3, they’re also talking abt lesbian stuff ig, idk.

“Hello ladies! I have returned with a yummmy meal for you all!”

“What is it?” Kanade asked.

“It’s homemade onigiri! Enjoy~✰”

“Mmmm this is so good!” Minori said with food in her mouth.

“I agree!” said Kohane.

“Guys, are we forgetting what we came here for?” Ichika said as she quickly finished her onigiri. “We’re here to discuss what artist and rigger we’re gonna have for our models.

“Oh yeah!” The rest of them said in unison. All five of them have one collective brain cell.

“Well, do any of you have any ideas?” Minori said, what followed was a full on Danganronpa, Ace Attorney style debate on what artist to choose.

“NO THAT'S WRONG! That artist has never even made a vtuber before!”

“HOLD IT! That doesn't mean they can't make one now!”

“It would be better for us to choose someone with more experience, no?”

This went on for a full 30 minutes before they finally chose two people. They were laughing the entire time, enjoying themselves for the first time in forever.

“Would you guys like to stay over?” Tsukasa said.

“I don't mind” Said Ichika.

“Me neither” said Minori, followed by Kanade and Kohane also agreeing.

“Ok then! Let me go get something” Said Tsukasa off to get the blankets. Then when he returned…”WHAA?? KANADE WHY ARE YOU ON THE FLOOR LIKE A VAMPIRE??? ICHIKA WHY DO YOU HAVE MY COUCH ON TOP OF YOU??? Minori and Kohane you guys seem…somewhat normal?? Still, Kohane, why is Minori on top of you…”

“You forgot to give us a blanket” They all said.

“I was literally gone for TWO MINUTES To go get you guys futons..”

“Oh yay :D” Said Kanade as she slowly got up and walked towards Tsukasa”

“Oh yeah also I have extra pyjamas for you guys. They might be a bit big”

“That’s ok!” Said Kohane.

Everyone was comfy and their futons (or bed), ready to go to sleep after their long day. They were all excited for the following months which would lead up to their eventual debut. News of them started spreading around the vtuber community.

There’s been speculation going around that there’s five people creating a brand new vtuber corporation called Sekai Stars✰, these same five people will be part of their first wave of vtubers called “Re/Start!” debuting in five months! What makes them stand out the most is that the vtubers will have a shared channel. Another fact about them is that they are all professional singers and will be releasing music regularly! Remember this is just a rumour but if it is true the vtuber community is excited to meet the five of them!

“Hey Mizuki! Come look at this!” Ena’s roommate walked into the room stopping next to Ena to look at her monitor.

“Oh them! I also got an email from the same group asking if I could rig their models”

“Did you accept?”

“Yeah! Why not?”

“I don’t know, don’t you find it a little weird that they wanna stay anonymous, even to people working alongside them?”

“Not really, I mean that's why most people become vtubers no?”

“I mean yeah but..Nevermind, i’ll just accept” Ena said before turning to her monitor and typing out an email in response to Re/Start!’s proposal.

“I’m glad we’re gonna be working on a project together!”

“Me too”

“Emu,” her father said sternly.

“Yes?”

“I need you to become a manager for our newest company”

“A new company?”

“Yes, well it’s more of a talent agency”

“Talent agency?” Emu wipers to herself, loud enough that her father could hear.

“You will be managing our talent’s streams, chat, sponsors, animations and songs etc.”

“O-ok”

“Oh and one last thing, our talents are anonymous, I have signed an NDA to keep their identities a secret”

“How can they be talents without showing their faces?”

“They are…what do you call it? Ummmm…Screen people??...uhh, give me a moment. Hmmmmmmm ... Vtubers! They’re Vtubers”.

“Wait, I'm gonna be managing VTUBERS??? REALLY :DD”

“Yes, now I need to get back to work, you have a meeting with the talents and staff tomorrow at 5:00pm, don’t be late.”

“Got it!” Emu said before running to her room, grabbing her phone and jumping on her bed to text the gc.

“You're no fun-” said Tsukasa indicating that the answer was indeed yes.

Hehe Kanade let out a little laugh making Ichika blush a little.

The next day our favorite five homos along with Emu and a couple other staff got on a call together. Introducing themselves discussing some other stuff before eventually reaching a conclusion.

“The debut will be in five months”

Those five months will be EXTREMELY stressful for everyone but they could handle it no? They can handle anything after all.

Re/Start was excited but mostly stressed on their debut day. They were all hanging out at their favourite place, Tsukasa’s apartment. The five months leading up to their debut might’ve been the best and worst for them all. Excitement for new beginnings and nostalgia of leaving others behind.

No time to worry about all that though! They have a debut to start!

They would all debut at a separate time Ichika first then Minori then Kohane, Tsukasa and finally Kanade. Ichika loaded up her “starting soon” screen and waited nervously..

I never stood out much did I?

“Ichika’s good” at what? Definitely not guitar! Or singing.. Or being a unit leader..Well that one wasn't anyone's fault…No one besides Miku and the other unit leaders know of the existence of unit leaders. But even in their friendship I felt I was never really needed. Saki’s the glue, she sticks them all together with her kind and positive attitude, Honami’s the coordinator, like the “mother” of the group she’s gentle and patient, Shiho’s the voice of reason, she makes sure we don't do dumb shit or get hurt, she’s caring and strong. But me? I’m kinda just kinda there I guess…I started hanging out with them less and less until eventually I kinda just stopped caring…I feel so guilty..They didn’t do anything wrong, in fact they were perfect! I hope they're doing well without me… I’ll admit I'm worried..I still feel inferior to everyone around me but..I’m starting to get better…I think? That’s what Kanade said and of course i'll believe her, I trust Kanade she’s beautiful and sweet, patient, kind, gentle, I feel warm next to her, it's comforting.
