Chapter Text
HOPES
Hope opened her eyes.
An arm was lazily draped across her body.
Hope looked at the woman in her arms.
Josie. Sweet loving Josie.
Not that Hope allowed herself to feel any emotions, it was certainly nice to have someone like Josie sired to her. She helped cover their tracks and do the things Hope overlooked well, because she didn’t care.
It was nice not running into any old faces. Josie made them virtually untraceable.
The only beings still looking for them were Hopes family. It was annoying. Freya had backed off once Hope threatened to kill her children.
Five years ago Josie came to seek her out to get her to turn her humanity on.
It was sweet truly but Josie was way in over her head. She didn’t realize how unreachable Hope was. In truth Hope killed her, not knowing she had vampire blood, her blood in fact when she did so.
She just wanted to be left alone and she figured killing Josie would make everyone hate her enough to not try to reach her.
But no, Josie woke up soon after and caught her off guard. It didn’t take long for Hope and Josie to realize she was sired to her.
They eventually made a deal, after the Squad tried and failed several times to get to Josie to “save” her. The last time there were some harsh injuries dealt to them by not only Hope but Josie as well.
The betrayal was written on everyone’s faces, her parents, sister, and friends finally let go in that moment. That was the plan they came up with to push everyone away. Hope promised not to kill anyone but Josie had to sever the ties with friends back home.
Josie told them never to seek them out again.
Josie didn’t want to leave Hope. No one knows that Josie is sired bonded to her, Hope told her not to tell anyone. They needed to think Josie wanted to stay with Hope without any outside influence. Hope didn’t want them to have any reason to think they should come after them.
“What time is it?” Josie mumbled as she began to stir.
Hope looked at her face now looking at her own.
“It’s 5pm,” she answered.
Josie laughed.
Hope started to feel warm from it.
Ugh. Hurriedly she pushed the emotion away from her. Her stupid humanity kept trying to rise to the surface. It was happening more and more often.
It was also common because they were going to Mystic Falls.
Josie found out her sister was getting married that weekend and wanted to watch from afar. Hope told her that her humanity was such a weakness but in all honesty it was hard for Hope to tell her no. She knew Josie was her biggest weakness, but also her greatest security.
She agreed unhappily to go and watch from a great distance.
Just being in the state was causing her to have emotional stirrings. She told Josie they needed to leave immediately after the wedding.
“We went a little hard last night,” Josie said as she yawned and began to stretch.
“Yeah well you were the one who wanted to go back to that couples apartment, I was perfectly content coming back here,” Hope said.
Josie laughed. “But we had so much fun there,” Josie said wickedly.
Hope couldn’t disagree like that. There’s nothing more hot than the two of them sharing a human to feed off of while having sex. Josie was hot and the humans she picked were beautiful couple.
They didn’t kill them. Josie is willing to have fun to keep no humanity Hope entertained but they did make an agreement that they would’ve kill anyone they fed off of.
No they healed them and erased their memories of anything supernatural but made sure they had the memories of the beautiful couple who shared a night with them. Josie also wanted consent so she insisted if they were sexual with anyone they actually had to want it and not be compelled for it.
Mainly it was Josies humanity demanding that but also Josie argued if they killed too many people it would surely draw attention to their whereabouts to Hopes family.
Hope had begrudgingly agreed to that. It made sense and she would put up with the annoyance in order to avoid that situation. She made a lot of allowances for Josie but she also promised to not to try to actively get Hope to turn on her humanity.
Hope was no fool and knew at this point if anyone could reach her it was Josie.
“We should hit the road so we reach Mystic Falls tonight, I want to scope some spots where we can watch the wedding from,” Josie said as she gingerly got up out of bed.
There was sadness in her voice.
Hope did her best to ignore it. She didn’t care if Josie was sad she didn’t/couldn’t get invited to her sister’s wedding. Josie had agreed to all of this. She knew the cost of keeping everyone safe.
They both got ready quickly and hit the road. They were only a few hours out from Mystic Falls.
As they drove through Mystic Falls towards the Motel Josie had googled as they approached they both got quieter. Hope knew this trip would be emotional for Josie and she was hoping that Josie wouldn’t keep it to herself.
She wanted no part in walking down memory lane with her.
They were driving through town when suddenly as they were crossing an intersection a car struck them after running a red light.
Obviously they were both ok but this wasn’t exactly the type of thing to draw attention to them.
Their car was flipped and if they had been humans there would have been many serious injuries. As they quickly crawled out of the car they were met with the bystanders who had run over to check on them.
They looked into the faces of teenagers, the Salvatore school emblems on their shirts giving them away as students. The real problem was they were accompanied by two adults, ones that they both knew very well.
Josies mother was there along with her father who both had looks of horror on their face.
Josie stood up awkwardly and Hope stood next to her.
“Why are you here?” Caroline demanded angrily.
Josie winced.
Hope struggled to not roll her eyes at the whole situation. Of course this would happen. They wouldn’t get into an accident and run into the very worse to people possible as soon as they reached the town.
“Because we want to be,” Hope said flatly.
“Hope—-, mom, I know Lizzie is getting married and I just wanted to watch from afar. We always promised each other we would be at each other’s weddings.”
Carolines eyes softened briefly but hardened again quickly.
“You weren’t invited Josie,” Her mom said simply.
Josie looked at the ground. Hope looked away.
She couldn’t sense Josies pain and sadness. Hope knew she was the cause of it but she refused to care.
“Yeah—-I know, can you tell her I’m around and want to just see the ceremony and I’ll be gone right after?”
Caroline and Alaric stared at her.
“Fine, how do I contact you?” Caroline asked.
Josie swallowed and looked at Hope. Hope glared at her in response. This is exactly what she didn’t want to happen when they agreed to come back here.
“We’re staying at the motel on the edge of town you can find us there,” Hope answered bluntly.
Sirens began to approach.
“Oh and you wouldn’t mind dealing with all this were are going to go now,” Hope continued as she grabbed Josie who apologetically glanced a her parents before she to sped off.
LIZZIES
Lizzie was having a rough day. Her "wedding"was tomorrow and it felt like everything her plans were falling apart.
It seemed like there was so much still to do to get everything ready for the day and she was so tired of it.
Lizzie missed Josie and wanted her with her.
Her thoughts were interpreted by a gentle knock on the door.
She opened it and was surprised to find both her parent’s in her doorway.
Both of them bore unhappy expressions.
“What’s wrong?” She asked immediately.
They both exchanged glances.
“It’s Josie,” Caroline said finally…..
