Hathor's Folly

Summary:

(Originally written for the r/PrimarchGFs subreddit) Can she really come back after everything she did to the Imperium, to her Father, to herself? (Fem Horus AU)

Notes:

Hey All! Ghostwriter765 here, I finally got into this site and posted this work as I said I would. The other chapter's will be uploaded after this one until we are up to date. I just finished the draft of the latest chapter and will publish it when I think its ready.

For those who are new finding this, Hello! This fic was originally written for the r/PrimarchGFs subreddit, and as thus, all of the chapters are also on there. This fic starts right after Horus (Hathor in this AU) was hit by the psychic blast while fighting the Emperor during the final battle at the end of the Horus Heresy (Read the original HH novels). For those who know, when he was hit with that attack, the voices of Chaos left his mind momentarily, just like in this AU, but there is more to it... Much more... I'll the rest open for the story to tell.

With that out the way..

Lets get into the fic!

Chapter 1: The Fall

Chapter Text

9 Years…

9 years ago was the last time Hathor felt like her mind was truly her own. The voices that had plagued her, even in sleep, momentarily ceased. The torrent of righteous fervor that guided her on this bloody crusade… was calmed. It was then… she realized where she was…

The Vengeful Spirit. Her flagship, the pride of her legion’s military might. And the site where she would finish the plan she had been working toward for 9 years now…

9 years… yes… It was 9 years ago when she arrived on that moon above Davin, the cursed mud hole that it is. 9 years ago where she saw the vision of her creator, her Father, venerated as a God of Humanity. It was then when the truth of her mission became apparent to her. She wasn’t a failure, her Father had lied to them… All of them! They were all simply a stepping stone on his path to Godhood, a statue that would be erected when their time was over, when their usefulness was exhausted. It was then when she planned to prevent that future from becoming a reality, and here is where it led her.

Directly in front of her Father, with his weapon drawn... Ready to end her.

The look on his face… It’s the look of someone who was restraining great anguish. The disappointment… The sadness… The pain… Even on a face as stoic as his, it was as bright as the sun that was slowly setting outside the Armaglass bridge windows. He almost looked… merciful.

It’s humorous… in the light, he does look like a God. She supposed it was all for naught then. All of the blood, all of the death, it was ultimately… pointless.

But none of that mattered… Not to her at least. For in her last few moments, her vision turned to a damaged suit of Terminator armor. A marine, she thought, who had interrupted her and her Father’s battle… Poor bastard…

Now only dust remained inside that suit, as his body was disintegrated by the might of Chaos itself. However, that is not what caught Hathor’s attention…

It was the small ring on a chain sitting roughly where the marine’s head would be in the disfigured armor.

She remembered that ring… She remembered who it belonged to… She remembered the promise she spurned when she first started this folly…

And she stuck him down with even a second glance…

She doesn't know if it was the Psychic attack her Father hit her with, or the sight of that ring that truly drove away the voices of Chaos from her mind. No… she knows… As her Father’s blade fell, only one thought remained in her mind in that insignificant moment before darkness overtook her… She didn’t fail her Father. No…

She failed everyone…
