Chapter Text
Eʅισ Sαʋσια
The Prince Regent of Italy
Best Friend of Cressida Cowper
Parabatai of Cressida Cowper
Future Husband of Cressida Cowper
Entreat me not to leave thee,
Or return from following after thee-
For whither thou goest, I will go,
And where thou lodges, I will lodge,
Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my god
Where thou Diest, will I die, and there will I be buried.
The Angel do so to me and more also,
if aught but death part thee and me.
It was the summer at the Cowper’s countryside estate and Cressida had been eight when she met a boy named Elio who changed her life forever without even knowing it. He was like her and for the first time in her eight years of living, she felt seen and understood. It was him that showed her kindness for the first time in her life. It was him who showed her what the love of family was like. Her parents were nowhere loving or affectionate people. She had learned that early on in her life. Being with Elio’s family gave her a taste of what it would have been like to grow up with siblings and loving, accepting, and affectionate parents. It had been him who taught her to fly for the first time and what true freedom felt flying through the clouds. She loves him for it. She loves him for showing her a world that was bright and warm. She loves him for being the light in her life. He is the only man she would ever love.
She was nine when she uttered the oath to Elio and he to her. Parabatai or in other word a life companion. Birds mate for life and while she and Elio were too young to be lovers (not that they would ever become that), they both understood that they wanted to be bonded forever to each other. So with the permission of Elio’s parents, they were allowed to do the ritual that would bond them for life. They would now have a telepathic and empathic connection (basically a psychic bond) to one another. The handprints of each other’s hand on the heart of other’s chest symbolizing their connection though it would not be visible to the human eye. Only those who were the same kind as them or not human would be able to see it.
