Chapter Text
“Just let me into your mind, Stanford.”
It wasn’t his fault. He didn’t…he didn’t mean for any of this to happen.
“Only…only if they’re safe.”
It wasn’t his fault. They were in trouble, he was going to kill them.
“Ugh. Humans and their sticky feelings. Fine.”
Snap.
“Wait-”
“Grunkle Ford!”
“Sixer, don’t you dare-”
They’re gone.
They’re safe.
He’s keeping them safe. He spent too damn long floating between dimensions and trying to find a way home just to lose them to his pride - again.
They won’t forgive him. Ever.
But he’ll know that this was the only way to keep them alive. He pushed away Stanley, he opened his stupid mouth.
He and Stanley grew to resent each other. Even now they could barely stand to be in the same room for more than an hour. Hell, Stanley only just managed to hold Stanford’s hand, and even then the scientist had to be snarky.
After coming back to his home dimension, Stanford - for a brief moment - wondered if there was any repairing in their relationship. The man knew that his parents were long dead, and Stanley informed Ford that Shermie - their baby brother - was gone.
All that was left was him, Stanley, and the kids. It’s his only family. He’d never appreciated his family before he was sucked into the portal. He hadn’t spoken to his parents in years, much less his twin brother.
And he’ll be damned if they’re taken away from him.
It’s the end of the world. And Stanford will be the cause of it.
It was so strange, forty-some years ago, Ford would have been jumping at the opportunity to assist his ‘muse’. He would have never thought of disobeying Bill like this. The one that had once been the center of his life now did nothing more than fuel his never-ending nightmares.
“So, Sixer?” The triangle glowed, floating towards Stanford. “Do we have a deal?”
Stanford suppressed a growl that built up in his throat. “You promise-”
“Yes, yes. Your family will be safe and protected from any weirdness going on. But only if you give me that formula and you are completely mine.”
The demon stuck out his hand, blue flames rose from his fingertips. Stanford reached out - for the first time, the heat from the flames burned. He winced before taking a deep breath. “You have a deal.”
The man screamed in pain as he plunged his hands into the flames.
