Work Text:
Addison Montgomery had spent many weekends navigating the complexities of surgery, but today she found herself maneuvering through the twists and turns of IKEA. She was used to being in control, making split-second decisions in the OR, but picking out the perfect throw pillows? That was a different kind of challenge.
Her day took a surprising turn when she bumped into Meredith Grey, who had also found herself wandering the maze of Scandinavian furniture. It had been a while since they’d seen each other outside of the hospital, and their recent interactions had been… friendly. Surprisingly so. Gone was the tension that once crackled between them, replaced by something softer, something that Addison couldn’t quite put her finger on.
When Meredith suggested they tackle IKEA together, Addison had hesitated for only a moment before agreeing. What could go wrong?
Now, they were walking through the showroom, testing out couches and beds, their conversation laced with teasing and laughter. The playful banter was a welcome escape from their usual high-stakes environment.
“Do you think this one would look good in your new place?” Meredith asked, her voice full of amusement as she flopped onto a deep, plush sofa.
Addison sat down beside her, feeling the cushions sink beneath her. “Maybe, but I think I’m leaning towards something a bit… darker.”
Meredith’s eyes twinkled with mischief. “Darker, huh? Like what?”
Addison smirked, leaning in just a little closer. “Something that can handle the occasional spill. Red wine, for example.”
Meredith’s gaze dropped to Addison’s lips for a fraction of a second before she met her eyes again. “Good thinking. You wouldn’t want to stain anything important.”
Addison felt her breath catch at the way Meredith’s voice had dropped, a sultry undertone creeping in. There was something electric between them, a tension that had been building all afternoon. They both knew it, though neither had acknowledged it—yet.
As they continued through the store, Addison found herself increasingly distracted by Meredith’s presence. The way her fingers casually brushed against Addison’s arm as they walked, the subtle way she leaned in when they talked, her warm breath ghosting over Addison’s ear as she whispered a joke. It was driving Addison wild, in a way she hadn’t expected.
By the time they reached the bedroom section, the tension between them had become palpable, a silent undercurrent that thrummed just beneath the surface. Meredith wandered over to a luxurious-looking bed with soft, inviting linens, and without a word, she laid down, stretching out across the mattress with a lazy smile.
“Come here,” Meredith said softly, patting the space beside her. “You can’t decide on a bed without testing it out first.”
Addison hesitated for a moment, knowing full well where this was heading, but she couldn’t resist the allure in Meredith’s voice. She sat down on the edge of the bed before slowly laying back beside Meredith. The bed was as comfortable as it looked, but Addison was barely aware of it. All she could focus on was Meredith, and the heat radiating from her body, so close to her own.
Meredith turned her head, their faces mere inches apart. “What do you think?” she asked, her voice husky.
Addison’s breath hitched as she looked into Meredith’s eyes, seeing the same desire that she felt burning in her chest. “I think,” Addison began, her voice barely more than a whisper, “that this bed might be exactly what I need.”
Meredith’s lips curved into a slow, seductive smile. “Show me,” she murmured, her voice thick with anticipation.
Addison didn’t need any more encouragement. She closed the small gap between them, capturing Meredith’s lips in a kiss that was anything but tentative. It was hungry, demanding, filled with the need that had been simmering between them all day. Meredith responded instantly, her hands sliding into Addison’s hair, pulling her closer as she deepened the kiss.
The kiss quickly escalated, turning desperate as their hands roamed over each other’s bodies. Addison’s fingers found the hem of Meredith’s shirt, slipping underneath to touch the warm, soft skin of her waist. Meredith gasped into Addison’s mouth, arching her body into Addison’s touch as she tugged at Addison’s clothes, eager to feel more.
Addison pulled back for a moment, just enough to look at Meredith, her chest heaving with the effort to catch her breath. Meredith’s eyes were dark with lust, her lips swollen from their kisses, and the sight only made Addison’s need more urgent.
Without another word, Addison leaned down, pressing her lips to Meredith’s neck, kissing and nipping at the sensitive skin there. Meredith moaned softly, her hands clutching at Addison’s back, nails digging into her skin through the fabric of her shirt.
Addison moved lower, trailing kisses down Meredith’s throat to her collarbone, taking her time as she tasted every inch of skin she could reach. Meredith’s breath hitched, her back arching off the bed as Addison’s mouth moved lower, her kisses growing bolder, more insistent.
Meredith’s hands slid under Addison’s shirt, her touch sending shivers down Addison’s spine as she pushed the fabric up, eager to get rid of anything that stood between them. Addison helped, shrugging out of her shirt and tossing it aside before doing the same with Meredith’s.
They paused for a moment, both of them taking in the sight of each other, their bare skin flushed with desire. The air between them was thick with tension, the anticipation almost unbearable.
“You’re beautiful,” Meredith whispered, her voice filled with awe as her fingers traced the curves of Addison’s body.
Addison’s heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in Meredith’s voice, and she leaned down, capturing Meredith’s lips in another heated kiss. This time, there was no hesitation, no holding back. They were both too far gone to care about where they were, about who might see them. All that mattered was the fire between them, the need that had finally found its release.
Addison’s hands roamed over Meredith’s body, learning every curve, every dip of her skin as Meredith writhed beneath her touch. When her fingers brushed against the waistband of Meredith’s pants, she paused, looking into Meredith’s eyes for permission.
Meredith’s breath hitched, and she nodded, her voice shaky with need. “Please,” she whispered, her hips lifting in anticipation.
Addison didn’t need to be asked twice. She unbuttoned Meredith’s pants, sliding them down her legs and tossing them aside before returning her attention to Meredith’s body. She took her time, kissing her way down Meredith’s stomach, enjoying the way Meredith trembled beneath her touch, the way her breath came in shallow gasps.
When Addison finally slid her fingers between Meredith’s thighs, she found her wet and ready, the heat of her arousal making Addison’s own need burn even hotter. Meredith moaned, her head falling back against the pillow as Addison’s fingers moved against her, slow and deliberate, driving her closer to the edge.
“Addison,” Meredith gasped, her voice breathless, filled with need.
Addison leaned down, her lips brushing against Meredith’s ear as she whispered, “I’ve got you.”
With that, she increased the pressure, her fingers moving faster, more insistently, as Meredith’s moans grew louder, her body tensing as she neared her release. Addison watched, captivated by the way Meredith’s face contorted with pleasure, the way her body responded to every touch, every movement.
When Meredith finally came, she did so with a shuddering gasp, her body arching off the bed as waves of pleasure washed over her. Addison held her through it, her fingers never slowing until Meredith’s body went slack beneath her, her breathing ragged and uneven.
Addison withdrew her hand slowly, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to Meredith’s lips, her heart swelling with something more than just lust. Meredith smiled against her mouth, a satisfied, lazy grin that made Addison’s heart skip a beat.
“Well,” Meredith said, her voice rough from exertion, “I think this bed passed the test.”
Addison chuckled, her chest still heaving with the effort to catch her breath. “Yeah,” she agreed, pressing one last kiss to Meredith’s lips. “I think it did.”
They lay there for a moment, their bodies tangled together, the afterglow of their passion still warm between them. Neither of them spoke, but the silence was comfortable, filled with the unspoken understanding that something had shifted between them.
When they finally managed to pull themselves together, Addison couldn’t help but feel a little giddy, like a teenager who had just experienced her first crush. She glanced at Meredith, who was grinning at her with that same wicked smile that had started it all.
“So,” Meredith said, her voice teasing, “do you want to take this bed home, or should we keep shopping?”
Addison laughed, shaking her head in disbelief at the absurdity of it all. “Let’s get the bed,” she said, reaching out to brush a strand of hair behind Meredith’s ear. “I think it’s perfect.”
Meredith’s smile softened, and she leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Addison’s lips. “I think so too.”
They dressed quickly, sharing a few more playful touches and stolen kisses before making their way to the checkout. The air between them was lighter now, the tension gone, replaced by a sense of contentment, of something new and exciting blossoming between them.
As they loaded the bed into Addison’s car, Meredith turned to her, her expression serious for the first time that day. “So… what happens now?” she asked, her voice hesitant.
Addison smiled, reaching out to take Meredith’s hand, lacing their fingers together. “I don’t know,” she admitted, “but I’m looking forward to finding out.”
Meredith smiled back, squeezing Addison’s hand. “Me too.”
They shared one last kiss before parting ways, both of them feeling lighter, happier than they had in a long time. As Addison drove home, the new bed rattling in the back of her car, she couldn’t help but smile at the thought of what the future might hold.
