Chapter Text
It all went down too quickly.
Rapidly.
Unexpectedly.
Rushed and blurred, leaving an overwhelming sense of injustice in its wake.
The streets were choked with a sea of mangled, abandoned cars, their crumpled forms serving as barriers against the raging infernos that consumed everything in their path. A firestorm ravaged the streets with a relentless hunger, while dark clouds smothered the red dawn, heralding a coming storm meant to cleanse the crimson that now stained what was once a vibrant, bustling city. This hellish transformation reflected a dystopia overrun by nightmarish creatures from the infernal abyss. Chaos rioted among the civilians, the undead pervading through the streets.
“Attention all citizens, due to the citywide outbreak, you are advised to take shelter at the Raccoon City Police—”
Red.
Bloody maroon, smeared deeply across every surface. It was in the abandoned houses, through shattered windows, and looted shops. Corpses littered the ground—men, women, children—all sprawled in grotesque positions, victims of the most brutal fates. The stench of death permeated the air, thick and suffocating.
Among the dead, one body stood out, marked by a haunting familiarity. As your figure approached, your footsteps were hesitant, the shadows creeping closer as if to observe you with unblinking eyes.
Your heart seized with fear at the sight of the familiar face. You were paralysed, terror gripping you with an ironclad hold. Your face went pale, eyes glazing over in a silent scream of horror. Tears began to well at the corners of your eyes, each drop a silent testament to your despair.
The once-cherished locks you used to lovingly caress were now matted and scorched, barely recognisable. Your best friend’s once-sun-kissed skin had been shredded, limbs contorted into grotesque angles. The sight was unbearable. You couldn’t look any longer; the agony was too profound for words. Your friend’s lifeless eyes, wide with the final terror of death, were the only remnants of her last moments.
A whimper escaped your lips, and a burning sensation gripped your chest. The scream that followed was a mix of profound shame and remorse. The intense pain shattered you, leaving you drowning in regret and guilt. It felt as though a piece of your soul was dying along with your friend.
“Attention all citizens, due to the citywide outbreak, you are advised to take shelter at the Raccoon City police station. Free food and medical supplies will be provided to everyone in need.”
