Chapter Text
Such a strange place....
Not that I know what something normal should look like, but it's an empty greyish place with small shades of pastel blue and purple. Wherever I look down, it's the same everywhere - emptiness.... There is nothing even underfoot, just an endless silver abyss leading to nowhere
How can stand in the void?
In fact, there is no way! It's like all the laws of physics are missing in this place! But should they exist here? And what defines them and what is it? Everything is so strange and incomprehensible, but something needs to be done. You can't stand here forever, can you? I wonder if time is running here or standing still? Or maybe it's better not to think about it and just go with the flow? But if it were here, what does it even look like? Various thoughts and fragments of speech come into my head, as well as something else. Nothing is clear, but it is very interesting
Or maybe it's a dream at all?
I think this is a good option, since I don't remember anything at all, and the place doesn't look very real. Yes, it probably is. Then you can not be afraid of anything and calmly enjoy this story and watch where it all leads me. I take my first step, then the second, and so on incrementally. I'm not falling anywhere and just keep walking as if I'm walking on glass, not on air. It feels so strange, it even shocks me a little... It feels like one more step and I will fly into oblivion and disappear forever.... But it's better not to think about it, because it's unlikely that you can really die in a dream. Gradually, my steps become much more confident and I'm already heading somewhere. Everything is the same around, only now I began to notice shards of glass flying in space. Taking a couple more, even more confident steps, I reached for one such fragment. It felt quite cold and a little sharp. Trying not to crush it too much in my hands, so as not to injure my hand, I began to examine it closely
What is it?!
I abruptly recoiled and let go of this object so that it could continue to wander through the vast expanses of this place. Only it wasn't glass. It was a fragment of a mirror. I was slightly startled by the reflection that suddenly appeared in it. And, apparently, I reflected myself in it. It was a bit unexpected to see a mask instead of a face. Although, to be honest, I didn't expect to see anything at all. The mask covered only the upper part of the face. It was white in color, with drawings of blue and light blue colors. I didn't see anything else in the reflection, so I decided to feel it. It's strange that I haven't felt it all this time, but it's understandable
Dream
Feeling the matte surface, I came to several conclusions. The mask had very long ears and the muzzle of some kind of animal. I can't remember which one exactly. Even close, as if they never existed and I just took that word out of thin air to somehow describe the mask. But it's okay, I'll remember later. Now I'll just continue what I started and maybe get somewhere
How long has it been?
I don't know how long I've been wandering around here, but it feels like a long time. I feel like I'm lost, but how can I get lost in a place where there is absolutely nothing but emptiness and rarely flying by fragments of mirrors? No way, but apparently I have a talent for making the impossible possible. Nevertheless, there are already improvements. In the distance, I saw a glimpse of a new color for this place
Yellow
Without thinking for a second, I ran in that direction, fortunately I was already used to moving around this place during this time. Step by step, I picked up speed and began to notice how the situation around me was changing. Everything started to get dark and strange dark and flat squares appeared on the horizon. Some are bigger, others are smaller. Some are not squares at all, but just strange blots. In some, something flashed periodically, in others there was a static picture of a certain, mostly dark, palette. Some were so far away that they looked like stars, and others were unacceptably close that it seemed I could crash into them. I definitely don't need this, and therefore, without slowing down, I dodged them as best I could. They were flat and it wasn't that difficult, although some had to be jumped over. There was a desire to stop and explore new objects, but the desire to get to the yellow color was stronger. For some unknown reason, I was attracted to this color and attracted so much. But since I saw nothing but gray and shades close to it, can you blame me for that? Meanwhile, in a slightly different place, I noticed that welcome glimmer of yellow and slightly changed directions, I ran there. This time it was closer, much closer than the last time. And so I almost ran to this long-awaited place and almost reached my feet stumble over each other and I fly straight into the darkness
When I opened my eyes a few moments after the fall, I found that I was in a different place. It was dark and damp where I was now, and my clothes were almost completely soaked when I hit the floor. There was moisture under my mask, but only near my nose. Bending my arms slightly, I slowly raised myself on my elbows. I felt a little heavy because of the wet fabric, which was quite voluminous and had large sleeves that could fit something. When I got up and touched my nose, I realized that it wasn't water and smell like something metallic. Raising my hand to eye level, I noticed a strange color
red
I think I hit my nose too hard and it started to bleed. I think it was blood. I can't be sure, but I need to wipe it away. It feels unpleasant and even disgusting. After wiping and rinsing my face, I sat down. When I was fully seated, I pulled my legs under me and began to look around. While fleeing from this strange place, I looked for the yellow color, but all I saw was red. Looking back, I noticed some sacks with something behind me. There were hooks at home, which moved along a rope, and ships apparently brought these sacks here. When I decided to stand up, another feature caught my attention. The room was large, although not huge. Maybe I was just small for it. This place isn't normal, either. It's dark and gloomy, with a strange smell of dampness that's mixed with something marine
But is everything supposed to be normal in dreams?
Turning away from the sacks, I continued walking straight ahead. Not sure where to go, I heard a strange noise in another room. Taking confident steps, slowed down slightly by my wet clothes, I followed the sound. Not wanting to take any chances, I hid behind the doorway leading to another room and looked out cautiously. There he was
Yellow
More precisely, a human in a shiny yellow raincoat. About my height, and this man was bending over something small and eating it. It didn't last long, and when the man in the yellow raincoat stopped chewing and got up, wiping his bloody mouth with his hand, stomped on the nearby boxes to the top. I wanted to follow him right away, but deciding that I wanted to explore this small object first, I went over to him. This something small turned out to be something that should have been alive before. There was quite a lot of blood, and it was still warm. Maybe it was just what is called an animal? And does this mean that they need to be eaten since the yellow cloak ate it? It probably is, but why is the food left uneaten? It's so wrong... Picking up the animal and throwing it in my hands, which surprisingly did not turn red and spoiled that pleasant blue shade of fabric, I hurried to get a yellow raincoat. This time I walked faster to catch up. The boxes did cause some difficulties, again, wet clothes got in the way, and even that small load in the sleeve caused minor problems. Climbing up on them and moving into another room, which had more of those boxes in which those bags were visible, I almost fell from the slight tilt of the room to one side. I didn't expect this at all and it put me in a bit of a stupor, but without dwelling on it, I jumped off the boxes and went after the man. And I managed to catch up with the yellow raincoat at the moment when he was trying to drop some kind of metal plate while standing on one of the boxes. Having done this, the raincoat jumped off, taking a lighter out of his pocket, creating a small flame for it, and at that moment I walked right up to him. Not knowing what to say and deciding to say, probably the most logical phrase for me at that moment, I take the animal out of my sleeve. Looking out from behind and holding out the animal by its longest limb, I wave it in front of its face
- It's not good to throw food around. We need to get there
The human did not expect to see or hear me and dropped the lighter from the hand he was holding. She fell into a puddle with a wet slap and took away an additional light source in this rather dark room when the fire coming out of it went out. Despite the loss of light, when the yellow cloak turned in my direction, I could make out a face. Short black hair that covered her eyes, but that didn't stop her from seeing a glimmer of scarlet iris behind her. The face was childish and thin. It's understandable, not to finish eating, so even in such quantities!
- Who are you?
With a slight strain in her voice, she said. Yes, it was most likely a girl. But what about the question... And who am I? Well, considering that for the entire time I was in this dream, I only managed to forget everything and get lost, then I can safely call myself
- My name is Lost
She looked at me strangely, but did not tell me her name and waved me away, picked up her lighter and walked along the same plate, climbing onto large boxes and going further along the route known only to her. She was strange, she didn't take the food, didn't give her name, and just went on. Nevertheless, I didn't want to lose sight of her. I haven't seen any more people here, but being alone somehow... It's sad, and not interesting at all... I don't want to be alone in this place, especially since this yellow light attracts me and beckons me so much. Like a young shoot that stretches closer to the warm sun. I don't know what the sun is, but now I'm going to call it that. Since she didn't want to tell me her name, let her be the Sun now, at least in my thoughts, until I find out her real name
- Hey! Where are you going?! Wait for me, I shouted after her and went straight after her
Sunny did not react in any way and continued to walk out of the room. Although she was moving fast enough to get away from me at a decent distance, this did not prevent me from catching up with her in the shortest possible time. Now, walking behind the girl, I was wondering another question. And where is she actually going? Already stepping over the stairs, which surprisingly seems to be quite a normal size, but with a rather strange ending in the form of traces of blood that stretched to the slightly ajar door
-Where are we going?- I decided to ask anyway
-Stop following me-Sunny replied with obvious irritation in her voice, still walking and not turning her head to me
I was not entirely satisfied with the answer, but I did not ask such a question further. Most likely, she herself does not know where she is going and just moves forward like me in that strange place. Having settled on this option, we opened the door and left this room. At that moment, the room swung in the other direction again and this time I fell on the tiled floor, hitting my hands a little when I fell, the way I put them forward so as not to break my nose again. It's worth getting used to, so judging by the reaction of the Sun, then this is quite a normal phenomenon in this location. Getting up from the floor and brushing off the dirt, I looked around. The room was still ridiculously large compared to us, but not much smaller than the previous ones. There was only one box and the cart that rolled back a little at the next tilt in the other direction of the location. This time I stayed on my feet and didn't even wobble, which indicates my slight adaptation. There was a window in front that was located above our height. And how would they reach him? I thought a little and out of the corner of my eye I noticed how my new “acquaintance” was moving the previously mentioned cart to that very window. Oh, that's right! How did I not think of that right away! I ran up to her and helped push her to her destination. After pushing the cart to the window, we were able to take turns climbing up to it and climbing through the window, moving into a new room that was very different from all the previous ones. It was lighter than the previous ones and had many shelves filled with different things, half of which I do not know or just do not remember. But I know for sure that there are carrots lying around. Is it okay to throw food all over the shelves and throw it on the floor? Well, what difference should it make to me? None, but I'll take one carrot with me anyway. With these thoughts, I put a carrot in my other sleeve and looked at the Sun, which was the same as I was looking around the room
- Hey! - I decided to talk to her again. - And what's your name? I told you my name, but you didn't tell me your name
- I didn't ask you to tell me your name- she replied calmly, turning in my direction and looking at me
- But you asked who I was
- It was a rhetorical question, I didn't ask to answer it - she answered me a little angrily
- But I still need to call you something, it won't be quite right if I call you whatever I want - and it doesn't matter that I've already come up with a name for you
- You don't need to call me anything, I'm traveling alone, and you're just following me- she said, and turning away from me, she began to leave the room, showing that we had finished talking
- Okay, so I'll call you Sunny, - I continued the dialogue, not intending to end it without a finale that suits me
“Sunny” stopped in the doorway, almost leaving the room, and without turning to me, with a slightly audible sigh, said what I wanted to hear from her
- Six
- What's the number?- wondering what it would mean, I asked her another question
- This is my name stupid - this time she turned and looked at me again with irritation in her eyes, although it was hard to see behind the bangs, but it was easy to feel hearing it in the words she said - Call me Six, but don't call me by this strange nickname
I smiled contentedly and went up to her when she went out into the corridor and went to the next doorway in order to move away from it to the wall for some reason the next moment. I calmly followed her and watched her peek out from behind the jamb
- I would have said so right away, otherwise...
Before she could finish her monologue, the Six covered my mouth with her palm and angrily looked me straight in the eyes, which it was impossible not to feel, hinting at me to shut up. I nodded, looking at her and realizing that I had to be quiet. She took her hand away from my face and continued to watch something on the other side of the wall. Curious about what she saw there, I also looked out a little from behind the wall. And there was something strange and ridiculous. He was several times bigger than us and looked like an obese person who was funny moving around the kitchen and cooking something. I won't call him scary, he was just funny, but now I understand why Six asked me to shut up. He can crush us and not notice it. So now we need to cross this kitchen?
This is where the most interesting part of the dream begins
