Chapter 1: Isolation
Chapter Text

Narrator’s POV
As the colder months drew near, most of the students at Collège Françoise Dupont were having trouble figuring out how they should ask their crush to the school's mandatory annual Midwinter Ball.
However, that was not the most pressing issue in Ladybug’s eyes. Or rather, Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s eyes. Her main concern was figuring out in the hell she was supposed to make 12 last minute custom formal outfits for her classmates in the next two weeks on top of patrol, akuma battles, miraculous box guardian training, schoolwork,and helping out in the bakery.
Just as Lila had promised, the whole class was disgusted by the mere thought of talking to Marinette. Unless, of course, they wanted something or were doing Lila’s dirty work.
Chapter 2: The Forced Favor

Lila’s crocodile tears win again.

Marinette’s POV
‘Take the high road’ he said. ‘Let her lies expose themselves’ he said.
Deep down, Marinette knew Adrien was only trying to help and be a supportive friend while still encouraging her not to stoop to Lila’s level. But either he was the most oblivious person on Earth (an actual possibility seeing as he never acknowledged her crush on him) or he simply no longer cared enough to be even remotely helpful or supportive.
Marinette had tried to say no. She had tried to explain that she couldn’t think up so many designs in two weeks, let alone actually create all of the requested ensembles in their entirety.
She tried to tell them that the special fabrics that custom designs require wouldn’t even be shipped for the next month or so. She had tried to say that with all her other commissions and tasks, she wouldn’t have time to sew all the pieces together in time for the ball.
But then Lila pulled out the crocodile tears.
“Oh, Marinette! I’m so sorry, we never meant to pressure you! We understand that you are busy and don’t have enough time to do your friends a favor.” Lila began sobbing into Alya’s shoulder.
“Really Marinette? You can’t even be a decent human being and tell the truth. If you don’t want to do things for us, then just say it. Don’t make petty excuses.” Alix accused.
“You bully Lila on a daily basis. She comes to class with black eyes and scratches. Yet, even when she forgives you time and time again, you don’t even have the courtesy to repay her kindness with a simple favor.” Alya scoffed.
And the whole class followed suit. Everyone decided to partake in the cruelty. Spewing insult after insult, accusations flying at her from every direction until Marinette gave in.
“I’m sorry. I’ll do it.” she sighed and walked away.
So here she was a few days later, up at 2:39 AM sketching designs for the dresses of her classmates.
Chapter 3: The Dress Of Her Dreams
Summary:
This chapter doesn’t have much writing that is relevant to the storyline. I just wanted to write the design description for the gown I would wear if my school did winter themed dances, but seeing as I live in America’s earthly edition of hell. Snow never falls here. I miss when I used to live up north where snow was something that you could always expect no matter what. Now I can only rely on heat waves and broken air conditioning. :(
Chapter Text
As Marinette contemplated what the design for the devil’s dress should be, Marinette looked over at her mannequin with a sad demeanor. There it was, in all of its glory. The dress of her dreams, the one she had been sewing since the beginning of last year. After planning the design for almost 2 whole years.
It was a gorgeous navy blue dress. It had a corset backed bodice styled with 3D custom snowflakes that flowed into a long, flared, high-low tulle skirt covered by a sliver lace overlay. The sweetheart neckline bodice has wide tank top straps made of ribbons and attached to the sides of the upper bodice are off the shoulder sleeves that are tight down to the wrist, but widen to form flowing cuffs with lace along the hem line. The bodice and sleeves were made of a special material. The fabric had silver glitter that was only noticeable when hit by light from a specific angle. The glitter was there for aesthetic purposes, but it did not take away from the functionality of the gown. The glitter doesn’t rub off nor does it make the dress unbearably itchy, it only enhances the dress.
The dress was almost complete. She was so close to finishing the design she had been perfecting since middle school. Marinette should be feeling ecstatic about how well it was turning out to be, but now she only looked at it with despair. She most likely would never get the chance to put the finishing touches on it now, which means she wouldn’t be able to wear it to the dance.
Just as she completed the first rough draft for a Lila’s dress design, she heard a scream. Most likely an akuma. She waited a few seconds and sure enough the telltale alarm sounded throughout Paris.
“Tikki, Spots On.” she mumbled, severely less enthusiastic than usual.
Chapter 4: Akuma Attack
Summary:
This is just a filler chapter

Adrien’s POV
“Plagg, Claws Out!” He said with excitement. Even though he had patrolled with her only 7 hours ago, he missed Ladybug’s presence.
He arrived to the battle a few minutes ahead of his lady. When Ladybug made it to the battle, she immediately called upon her lucky charm.
Her lucky charm was a old fashioned skeleton key.
“I know what to do. We will get her to the catacombs and I’ll trap her there with the key. Then you have to cataclysm the wand. The akuma is most likely there.”
“Aye Aye captain!” He said, giving a mock salute
They fought the akuma. They even beat it in record time, but something about Ladybug was off.
“Time to de-evilize.” She catches the akuma, and purifies it.
“M’lady, is everything okay?”
“Miraculous Ladybug” She casts the cure and swings away. Ignoring the question and leaving behind a dumbfounded Chat Noir and a very confused former akuma.
“What happened? The last thing I remember is that my boyfriend was breaking up with me for a girl.”
Adrien brushed off the dismissal and went to comfort the man.
“You were akumatized, sir. I understand that breakups can be difficult, would you like to talk for a minute?” Chat Noir asked the man.
“I guess.”
“Go ahead, vent to me and I’ll give my best advice.” Chat Noir said, despite his only relationship advice was based on what he saw in anime.
“My boyfriend broke up with me for a homophobic girl. She called me a bunch of slurs and my boyfriend denied even associating with me when she asked.”
“I see how that would be hurtful. Go home and try to find a way to discreetly tell him how that made you feel. But don’t expose him publicly, that could upset him enough to become a target for Hawkmoth. Go get some rest. And remember, positivity is of the utmost importance.”
Chapter 5: Homework Dilemma
Chapter Text
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marinette’s POV
“..Mar….”
“......tte…”
“.....inette?...”
“MARINETTE!!!”
Marinette jolted awake at the sound of Ms. Mendeleiev shouting her name.
“Present!” Marinette calls out, thinking that Ms. Mendeleiev is doing roll call. The class erupts in laughter. But instead of it being lighthearted humor, their laughs were condescending.
“Roll call was 35 minutes ago. I was calling your name to see if you had the answer to question 7 of last night’s homework.” Ms. Mendeleiev says with a sigh.
‘WE HAD HOMEWORK?!!?!?’ Marinette began to panic, she doesn't recall hearing about the assignment, let alone completing it. In fact, she doesn't even have any memory of waking up and coming to school today.
As Marinette’s breathing becomes quick and labored, she feels a nudge from her purse resting against her hip.
“Sorry Ms. Bustier, I need to grab it from my locker if that is ok?” Marinette pleads
Ms. Mendeleiev nods and Marinette stands up and runs to the locker room.
“Tikki, this better be important. I am already in a complicated situation here, I don't need another transgression on my record for skipping class.”
“Marinette, I completed your homework for you. It’s right here!” Tikki hands a folded sheet of paper to Marinette from inside the purse.
Marinette unfolds the paper and sees the worksheet with the assignment date at the top being yesterday’s date. Marinette looks it over and sees all the question’s answers written alongside the steps 'marinette’ took to solve each answer. The strangest thing is that all the writing on the page was written in Marinette’s unique style of handwriting.
Tikki saw the confusion displayed on Marinette’s face and supplied an explanation.
“I am the kwami of creation, Mari. I have been around since the universe came into existence. I lived through the development of mathematics. It was easy for me to solve the problems and forge your handwriting.”
“Makes sense…. Oh shit! I have to get back to class and turn this in!” Marinette ran out of the locker room and over to her classroom. She wrenches the door open and waves the paper around frantically.
“I found it!” She shouted triumphantly.
“That is wonderful Ms. Dupain-Cheng, but I would appreciate it if you hadn’t interrupted my lesson.” Ms. Mendeleiev scolded.
“Sorry…” Marinette hung her head in shame and handed the teacher the assignment and shuffled over to her seat in the back of the class.
