Chapter 1: New Case

Chapter Text

Finney loves his friends. So much. He would go to the ends of the Earth for them.

So, when they asked him if he would help them on another case, what else was he supposed to say but yes?

The three of them have known each other since freshman year of highschool. They all just clicked. Almost every day they spent their time hanging out with each other. Which gave them the opportunity to get closer and eventually working the same job.

The start of it all:

Griffin was quiet and reserved and no one really knew him. That was until Finney asked to sit next to him in science class. The two talked and talked through the class and sat with each other during lunch. Finney had really liked Griffin.

"Thank you for being my friend"

Griffin was extremely thankful for Finney and so was the other boy. They both eventually met Bruce.

Bruce had friends. In fact he had many of them. But, they never really liked him for him. It was more for his popularity. Finney had remembered going against him a few times in baseball. Especially, the one time Bruce had complimented him on his throw.

"Your arm is mint!!"

Bruce was a sweetheart and Finney was drawn to him.

The three boys were inseparable. They spent all of highschool and college together. Now they even worked the same job together. Fighting dangerous people, and throwing them in jail. Finney would never want to work with anybody else but them, and the two other boys felt the exact same way.

Present day:

"Finneyyyyyyy!!"

The voice was familiar. Griffins. All of a sudden there was a big thump on his bed. Griffin had threw himself onto it.

Finney let out a groan.

"You need to wake up, me and Brucie have a question for you!!"

His eyes opened and he sat up in his bed. Rubbing his eyes, all he could think about was what could be so important they couldn't wait for him to wake up himself.

"Whats the question?" He muttered out.

"Well you need to come outside so we can ask you!!"

Griffin had a big smile on his face. He was too happy for it to be so early in the morning.

"Fine."

"Good, hurry up!!" Griffin rolled off Finneys bed, and walked outside the room closing the door behind him.

Finney laid right back down.

He only got up after 2 minutes of pathetically rotting in his bed. Griffin and Bruce seemed to really need to ask him this question. So, he rolled out of bed just like Griffin did. As he got ready, he wondered what they would ask him. Maybe they would ask him to go do their weekly hangouts. Since their job kept them so busy all the time, they barely got a break. Today was one of their days off.

Or maybe they just wanted to wake him up and get him out of bed. His beautiful bed. He really wanted to go back to sleep, but it was too late now.

The sounds of yelling came from downstairs. Guess he needed to head down.

He passed by Griffins room, and then Bruce's. The three decided to live in a large apartment together in the city. It was great for them because they knew they needed to be close. Like if they needed to talk to someone, or wanted to go out, or even just so they could have someone to bother. The idea was perfect.

After a few seconds, he had reached the bottom part of the stairs and was welcomed by the other boys having a scream off.

This was normal.

"GRIFFIN, WHAT DID I JUST SAY"

"NOTHING THAT RELATES TO ME"

"OH IT SO RELATES TO YOU. I TOLD YOU TO GET YOUR STUFF OFF THE FLOOR" Bruce had been throwing his hands around in the air.

"WHO SAID THE STUFF WAS MINE" Griffin was lying. You could tell. He liked messing with Bruce. He was also standing on the couch. Another thing Bruce disliked.

"IM GONNA SHOOT YOU" He started running after the slightly shorter boy. With a pillow in his hand. Quite a heavy one at that.

'Oh! How cute' Finney thought to himself.

He cleared his throat loudly so they both could hear.

"Um, guys?"

They stopped immedietly.

"Oh, morning Finn, I guess Griff finally woke you up like I asked him to" Bruce shot Griffin a glare.

"You know you could've woke him up instead right"

"Shush"

"Okay, as much as I love to watch you two fight, Griff said you both had a question for me?"

The boys looked over at each other and nodded their heads. Bruce had pointed his finger to the couch and Finney took a seat, waiting for one of them to ask away.

"Well, boss said she had a case for us and this time she's telling us we needed to do it." Bruce started.

That's interesting. Usually they were given the ability to choose what case they wanted. Now he was wondering what it was.

"What case specifically? Usually we can choose."

Griffin let out a sigh.

"That's the thing, we don't know. So, we wanted to ask you if you would be okay with going to the headquarters to figure it out with us." This time it was Griffin who said something.

"She didn't give us much information Finn." Bruce added to that.

Finney thought about this. Their boss always told them what their case was. It was important to. The more information they had the better. She always let them choose their case too. Everytime she called the boys, she made sure they worked together and that they had everything they needed. So, why was it so different this time? Finney decided he would go. He needed to.

"I'll go, we need to figure this out. But, we haven't been to headquarters in months."

"Bruce called them ahead of time, they know we're on our way. We kind of knew you would agree."

Bruce nodded in agreement. The two knew everything about him.

"Okay, I guess we need to go now then?"

"Yes, yes we do." Griffin grabbed Finneys hands and pulled him up.

Away they went. They drove to headquarters. Finney was not excited to be there.

The headquarters was a dark building. Not that the lights were dim or anything, or that there was a lack of windows, but yes there was some of that too. It was dark because of the atmosphere. But, it made sense. The people who work there have seen many things that no one should. Even if they needed to talk to someone about it, they couldn't tell anyone. This job was a secret. For anyone who worked here. It's surprising that the three were able to work together in the first place.

Being an FBI agent made good money. But, no one would dare say it was a very happy job.

Finney braced himself. They had just walked inside. Tension filled the air.

'I guess no one's in a good mood today' He thought to himself.

Sometimes, if they were lucky, other people would be in a good mood. That means the air wouldn't be so tense. Today was not one of those days. Finney did not want to be here. It was their day off.

Bruce led the way to the office. Their bossess office. Hopefully she would see them. They've heard about people being kicked out of the room, just for needing to check something. Bruce knocked on the door.

Luck was on their side. She let them in.

"Good morning boys, I assume you're here about your case" There was no question. She knew.

Griffin spoke up.

"Yes we are. We wanted to know more of what needs to be done"

Griffin grew out of his shell as they got older. The closer he got to Finney and Bruce, the more he was able to talk to other people. The two were proud of him.

"I'll start off with this. This case is very important, and very dangerous. Worser than anything you've ever done."

The three tensed slightly. They've had to throw many bad people in jail for the horrible things they've done, what could be worse than the things they've seen?

She continued on.

"Many murders have been reported recently in our area. Quite vile ones. Surprisingly, in our area too. We believe that it's the work of the three most dangerous men in the country. Maybe even the world."

Finney had to say something about this.

"Why choose us, I mean, why not send a swat team?"

"You boys are smart, and I've given you many cases before this. I know you can do this better than any "swat team". It would also work in your favor."

"Why in our favor?" Bruce asked.

"If we sent a large group they would all be dead in just minutes. But, if we sent you three, it would be less suspected."

"You're saying that they wouldn't think to attack us?" Finney said.

"That's exactly what I'm saying."

Silence filled the room. She was staring the three of them down, but all they could do was think. In the end they had no choice but to do this case.

Griffin asked yet another question. He was saving them alot.

"Is there any other information of the three?"

The boss leaned over a bit in her seat.

"Yes. We don't know of their names, but we do know they work together. Never on single missions. We also suspect that there is a leader. He likes to leave ripped up pieces of newspaper on the victims he kills. Sometimes, he leaves paper cut looking injuries all over the body. Another one in the group likes to shoot his victims. Not quickly, but in random places of the body. Then, he kills them with a final shot. Or at least that's what we believe. The only thing we can make of his identity is what he carves into his victims arms. Usually, its just random not so friendly names. The last one, he stabs his victims, but he seems to take the time in beating them before he actually does anything with a weapon. He leaves spanish insults on the walls with his victims blood."

It was alot for Finney to take in. He knew it was alot for his boys too. He spoke up so they wouldn't have to.

"Thank you for explaining more. When would we start?"

"Now. We have everything ready for you."

'Oh' He thought.

He nodded.

"I'll make a call and tell them that you're here. They'll give you what you need."

"Thank you boss" He stood up. The two other boys following him in suit.

"Please, remember what I said before, you boys can call me Donna" She smiled.

He nodded again, smiling back. Griffin and Bruce said their thank yous and followed out from behind him, shutting the door.

"Oh my god" Bruce muttered. He was making a face.

Finney knew what the look meant. Bruce was worried. He didn't blame him, he was too.

"If the boss-I mean Donna, said we can do it, then I'm sure we'll be able to." Finney said. He wanted to make them feel better. He noticed Griffin hadn't said anything, he knew he was worried too.

Griffin sighed, rubbing his face.

"I sure hope we can, we just need to stick together as usual"

They all could agree on that. No one split up from each other, never ever. They didn't plan to either. It was safer that way. If one of them got hurt or died, they would never forgive themselves.

Finney suddenly remembered a promise they made in their freshman year. If one of them died, they would all die. Just so they could all be together. He smiled at the memory.

"Do you guys remember when we were kids, and we made that promise"

Griffin and Bruce gave each other a look, and then their faces lit up in realization.

"I do!! We said if one of us dies, so would the other two!!" Griffin blurted out.

"I do too, I wouldve done it!!" Bruce agreed.

Finney laughed a little.

"Lets agree to keep each other safe so we won't have to go through with it"

"Let's pinky promise" Griffin said sticking out his pinky. Pinky promises were always their thing.

All three boys let out laughs and stuck out their pinkies. Once they were connected, Bruce dragged them into a group hug. Finney loved their group hugs. His boys made him feel safe. They made him feel at home. They made him feel like nothing bad would ever happen. He would never let anyone hurt his boys.

"I hate to interrupt, but we have everything ready for you" A man said from across the room.

They sadly let go of their hug, and all nodded to him, following behind as he led them to a weapon room. It was usually locked. That's how Finney knew this case was the most important of all.

The man allowed them inside. Seemingly taking precaution.

"Now, these weapons are all very dangerous, but I'm sure you could tell" He turned around to look at them.

"The boss picked out weapons for you already, all I need to do is give them to you" He had grabbed one as he was speaking.

He carefully gave the first suitcase to Griffin. Then, the next to Bruce. The last one went to Finney. Each one had a tag with their initials on them, and a number on the back on it.

"Thank you, we appreciate it". Bruce said.

"If there are any questions you have for us, call the number on the back of your tags. That's all for now, you may leave". The man led them outside of the room and locked it behind him.

If anyone were to get inside that room, anyone dangerous, they would be in terrible danger. But, for now they would head back home. They wanted to spend the rest of their day off together.
