Chapter Text

Finney and his boys had watched a few movies when they got back home. They all decided it would be better to get their mind off their new case for a while. It was going to be excruciatingly time consuming. So, they might as well spend as much free time as they can together before they have to go all serious.

They weren't going to be serious. Most of the time they joked around. But, they still got the job done. Very efficiently Finney liked to say.

He knew Griffin and Bruce were both still worried about everything. He let them fall asleep on him. Griffin laying on his shoulder, and Bruce laying on his lap. They needed the sleep. If only they didn't have to take the case. Finney wanted to forgot about it for now. At least until morning. His eyes started to droop closed and he finally fell asleep with his head on top of Griffins, and his hand in Bruce's hair.

Finney was the first to fall asleep and the first to get up. His boys were still in the same position as last night. They looked so peaceful and he didn't want to wake them up. He ended up laying Griffin down carefully on the other side of the couch, laying a pillow under his head and covering him with the blanket he was using previously. He did that while making sure he didn't move too much for Bruce to wake up. Then he lifted Bruce up slightly, enough for him to stand up a bit and grabbed a pillow for him to lay under, recovering him with the blanket.

Now he could make them breakfast. Finney enjoyed cooking. His mother taught him and Gwen how when they were younger, and after she passed the two still cooked with each other. He just made a simple breakfast. Eggs with toast. Griffin and Bruce did eat it alot though so he wasn't worried if they would want it or not.

Finney himself didn't want to eat anything he made so he just ate cereal. Also making sure to drink water. They had a long day ahead of them. There was no need for him to pass out.

Griffin was the first to wake up. Finney could hear the boy yawning from the living room. Once he walked into the kitchen Finney greeted him.

"Morning Griff, how'd you sleep?" He hoped he slept good.

"Really good, I needed it."

"I'm glad, we have a long day today"

"Please don't remind me" Griffin groaned. The only thing that would make him feel better right now was Finneys cooking.

None of them wanted to go to work today. It was a struggle.

"Go sit down, I'll get you a plate" Finney loved to take care of them.

"Thanks Finn, you're my saviour"

Finney laughed quietly, making sure he wouldn't wake up Bruce.

Just as he set down Griffins plate in front of him, Bruce wandered in.

"It smells amazing in here." Bruce said.

"Morning Bruce, did you sleep good?"

"I slept great, the couch is somehow super comfortable."

"Probably because the couch was Finn" Griffin laughed.

"Very true" Bruce agreed smiling.

"Sit down, I'll get you your plate too"

"I literally love you so much guys"

"I love you more, I love both of you"

"I love you two" Griffin said.

Finney set down Bruce's plate and sat down with both of them. It was a comfortable silence. Well, at least until Bruce blurted out saying he didn't think this girl deserved a guy in the movie they watched last night.

"I'm telling you, he was too good for her!!" Bruce exclaimed.

"I agree with Bruce, he did all that stuff for her, just for her to like him when he was finally cool." Griffin agreed.

"Me too, I think I'd be perfect for him" Finney joked.

His boys both gasped loudly.

"Finn, are we not good enough for you" Griffin said dramatically.

"Griff I can't believe it, he doesn't love us anymore" Bruce was using a pitchy voice.

"Don't worry you two, maybe you can be the bridesmaids at our wedding"

Griffin and Bruce looked at each other. They both started fake crying.

"I'm just kidding, I love you guys more than any other man in my life" Finney was laughing.

"There are other men in your life!?" Griffin threw a hand on his heart.

"I can't believe you're cheating on us!!" Bruce fell on the floor and onto his back.

He loved these two. He never wanted this to end.

After breakfast, they cleaned off their plates and got ready for what they were dreading all of yesterday and this morning. They agreed on going to some of the crime scenes to see if there was anything else they could find. Anything that would help figure out the identities of the murderers.

The bloody bodies never really had an effect on the boys. In fact, they were very used to it. It was their job anyways. When you spend two years working for the FBI, you can't just throw up everytime time there's a disgusting smell, or a bad sight.

The first crime scene the boys investigated was behind a gas station. The caution tape was a warning. A warning to not come anywhere near here. No one should see this scene. Blood covered the walls. Something in Spanish was writing in the victims blood. From what Finney and his boys know, this man was an abuser. He had hit his wife and his children for years. Finney couldn't help but think that maybe that's why he was murdered. Finney did his research and told them everything.

They always look at the files beforehand. This one had pictures. Due to the beating he received, the face was puffed up, all black and blue. With multiple cuts covering the body. Griffins face was full of disgust.

"Why would anyone want to touch someone else's blood, on purpose?"

Bruce seemed to agree.

"I have no idea, its disgusting, but so is murder."

Finney nodded.

The only thing back here was a few trash bags and the blood covering where the body had been found.

"This man was an abuser, do you guys think maybe the murderers killed him for that reason." Finney needed to know if it made sense. He thought it did.

"It's a pretty good motive" Bruce thought it was smart.

Griffin thought of something.

"Wait, we were told that they only killed in their group, why would one person leave a sign that they were there and the other two wouldnt?"

'Holy shit' Finney thought.

"Griffin, that's a really good point." Finney praised.

Bruce wrote it down in his phone notes. He usually did that. Just so they wouldn't forget anything important.

They look around for a few more minutes without finding anything. It was time for the next crime scene.

This one was in an abandoned building. It was near the woods, far away from the city they lived in. The only reason the body was found was because one of the murderers had called the police and gave away where it was. They had no idea why they would do that. Maybe it was a trap. Something the murderers could use in the future.

It was on the second floor of the building. It sort of looked like an old car parking lot. That's where the majority of the crime scene tape was. Bright orange and easy to see. In the middle of it was a chair. Covered with rope where the arms and legs would be if a person had sat down there. Which was exactly what happened in this situation. Except the person was forced to sit there, and shot in multiple parts of his body.

The file showed pictures. One gunshot in both of the hands, one in each foot, both shoulders, the stomach, the neck, and finally his head. It wasn't a pretty sight. Very disgusting really. Just like the last one. There seemed to be a few punches thrown that's for sure.

"Well, so far they've definetly been following their killing styles" Bruce muttered.

He was right. The first one beat up the victim and then stabbed him. The second one shot him in multiple areas. The next one will most likely be something to do with paper.

"Can't wait to see the next one" Griffin said sarcastically.

The victim here was also not the brightest person out there. He was a big alcoholic and drug abuser. He ended up drinking and driving one might and killed a few people in a crash one might. He had a short prison sentence even after all of that. Finney didn't understand it, but the guy was dead so there was nothing to do about it.

"Griff said earlier that only one murderer really left something of him at the last scene, this one is like this too" Finney said.

'Why would the three of them be said to kill in groups but never leave something about each of them, were they trying to throw us off?'

Neither of his boys had anything to say, they just knew he was right. Finney knew that too.

Bruce wrote something else in his notes, but didn't say anything about it. Finney figured he would ask about it later.

The next crime scene was a little worse. No joke.

It was in one of the popular pools in their city. Which didn't make sense because the last too were in less crowded places. How did the murderers get his victim alone here? The pool was open that day and free to everyone. Finney knew that at night the pool would have less people, but there would still be a few.

The pool has been closed since the victim was found. The crime scene tape was found once again. A blood trail was noticeable. It wasn't small. It seemed like this person had really been bleeding out.

The pictures in the file showed where the body was found, it was in the men's bathroom. Exactly where the blood trail led them to. The body had money broken bones. Especially, the fingers. The victim was another abuser.

'They must love killing other bad people'

He had been one of the family abusers just like the first one. Finney thought that maybe it wasn't such a bad thing they were murdered. He did notice the small paper cut looking wounds all over the victims body in the pictures. The biggest wound was the large cut in the stomach. That's where the blood trail had come from.

"Who would take the time in putting that many cuts in someone's body?" Finney mumbled.

"Who knows" Griffin responded.

The head was snapped. It even looked like something was infecting his skin. Like an injection of some sort. It made the victims skin color blue. It was disgusting. No matter how many tests the scientists had done, they couldn't figure out what it was.

The only thing left around the crime scene was the small bits of newspaper. Each had small words typed onto them. Griffin took some more pictures. Ones that were more close up. They could scan over them later.

Nothing else was to be found, so they moved on to the last crime scene of the day. Hopefully the last one in general. They were exhausted.

This one was behind the hospital. Sort of like the gas station. The crime scene tape was as bright as usual. Finney was getting sick of it. They had to hurry looking at this one. It was getting dark out.

The file was their new best friend at this point. The pictures had the body, with gunshots, paper cut wounds, and a brutaly beaten body. The victim was yet again another abuser. Just like the last ones.

'How interesting, guess they were all in on this one'

It was weird how a murder happened right behind a hospital. Somewhere that was meant to help people.

The gunshots had splattered blood on the ground and the wall. Other than that, there was nothing at the scene. Other than Spanish words written in the victims blood, and small newspaper pieces all over the ground.

Griffin took more pictures of it. Meanwhile, Bruce had written more things in his notes. These two were really helpful. Finney had hoped he was for them too.

They had decided they needed to go home. They found enough stuff for a day. If they needed to come back they could. Whenever they really needed to.

They were all sat in the car driving back.

"Ready to order pizza when we get home?" Finney said

"Absolutely" Griffin replied immedietly.

"It's not a want it's a need" Bruce answered.

They all let out a little laugh and sat in a comfortable silence once again. All until they argued over what the best kind of pizza was.

Notes:

When Bruce mentioned the movie while eating, that was exactly how I felt about Stephanie and her man in grease 2. 😋🤞
