Family Relations

Summary:

Kim Dokja is a man who minds his own business. Thus, when he spots the powerful twins Yoo Joonghyuk and Yoo Jihyun, their company partners, fucking each other in the closed storage room, he simply closes the door and walks out without telling anybody.

How that leads to the twins wanting to sign a contract where he will marry Yoo Joonghyuk as a beard to keep their forbidden relationship from being found out, he has no idea.

Notes:

- Important disclaimer: I didn’t come up with this idea by myself! This fic was inspired by “what’s yours is mine” by the author “collective unconscious”. Their writing and worldbuilding are amazing, so please make sure to check the original fic!
- As tagged above, Joonghyuk and SP are twins and in an established incestuous relationship in this fic, one which Dokja will eventually join to become a polyamory. If any of the premises makes you uncomfortable, please reconsider very carefully before reading.

Chapter 1: A Hysterical Wife, An Emotionless Husband

Chapter Text

“Then, your wedding with Joonghyuk will be in the next two weeks. Be sure to pick up when we call, so that you can join us in making preparations.” Yoo Jihyun, or ‘Secretive Plotter’ as he’s more commonly addressed in the gaming industry, smirks at him in a way that makes Kim Dokja fear for his life.

“What day of the week do you have free time?” In contrast, his identical twin Yoo Joonghyuk glares at Dokja as if he has done something to offend him.

“It depends on whether the company needs me to do overtime, but I’m most consistently free on Tuesday and Friday.” Despite the raging hostility from the man who clearly didn’t want to marry him but still proposed the contract for whatever weird reason, Dokja gives him a soft smile.

“In that case, my brother and I will pick you up on those days to move your stuff.” The man turns away like the mere sight of Dokja pisses him off, which Dokja himself understands - if he was Yoo Joonghyuk, he wouldn’t want to willingly marry himself either.

“And in two weeks, we will become a family. I'm looking forward to it, future brother-in-law.” The coldness hidden behind Yoo Jihyun’s smirk screams danger despite his ‘friendly’ words.

“So am I.” Dokja can feel his smile getting strained, along with a quiet sigh internally as he wonders why everything came to this.

- - -

It would be more difficult to find someone who hadn’t heard the name ‘Star Stream’ or the twins ‘Secretive Plotter’ and ‘Yoo Joonghyuk’ in the gaming industry than someone who had. After all, it was as though those two were protagonists of a novel - handsome, charismatic, skilled, rich, and managed their own extremely successful company that had others begging for a chance to work with them.

Thus, when those twins agreed to collaborate on a project with their lowly, no-name MinoSoft company of all people, the higher-ups became even more insufferable and demanding than they usually were, along with forcing people to do more overtime. Being the sad bachelor with no social life that he was, Dokja eagerly signed up for all the overtime slots they had and earned substantially more money, in addition to an unexpected sight.

Yoo Joonghyuk bouncing on Secretive Plotter’s dick in the closed, fairly obscured storage room wasn’t what Dokja expected when he opened the unlocked door. Life was just full of surprises, he supposed.

A part of him briefly wondered why those two were still here when they were supposed to get back to their own company an hour ago, but Dokja didn’t have time to delve into that further, considering the identical pairs of panicked eyes staring at him in horror.

Locking the door behind him, Dokja smiled in an attempt to reassure them that he wasn’t threatening. “My apologies for interrupting you. I’m just here to get a spare headphone.”

Ignoring their incredulous stares, Dokja casually approached a drawer and pulled out a headphone to replace the one that had finally died after too much abuse from this project. He tried not to look at their naked state nor care about how he could still see from his peripheral vision that the floor had become a wet mess from their… tryst.

Then, for whatever reason, he decided to take out the room’s spare key and put it on the table with an instruction. “Please make sure to use this - I was able to enter because it seemed you forgot to lock the door.”

With that, Dokja turned his heels and walked out, making sure to close the door quietly to not draw attention, and locking it from the outside. There were only two keys - one main key that he was using and another spare he secretly made that was currently in the room with those twins, so there shouldn’t be any danger of anyone else walking in on them for now.

Speak of the devil - Dokja barely held back a gasp when Yoo Sangah suddenly came next to him out of nowhere. “S-Sangah-ssi, hello. Are you also working overtime today?” He quickly regained composure and asked.

“Yes, Dokja-ssi. There was quite a few paperwork I needed to take care of due to this project.” She sighed before looking up at him curiously. “Speaking of the project, Star Stream’s HR called me earlier to ask if Secretive Plotter-nim and Yoo Joonghyuk-nim were still here because they weren’t back yet. Have you seen them, Dokja-ssi?”

“Unfortunately, no. Perhaps they already left and just haven’t informed their people yet?” Dokja emphasized his blatant lie with a reassuring grin that had been perfected throughout the years, and inwardly sighed in relief when Yoo Sangah took it at face value and smiled back as she held his hand, dragging him out for dinner with her.

Throwing a short glance at the locked storage room behind him, Dokja briefly wondered why those twins had such a relationship with each other, why they chose MinoSoft for their ‘rendezvous,’ and why he didn’t report them.

He couldn’t figure out the first two questions, but the third one’s answer came easily - it was none of his business. His job description only included being a QA, tester, and occasional errand boy; not reporting business partners who had sex in one of their rooms. Besides, had he made their forbidden relationship known, the Yoo twins’ reputation would have gone down the drain, leading to this project being canceled and ruining what few sources of income he had left.

Resolving to forget everything he saw, Dokja was able to eat and smile at Yoo Sangah’s words that night without much, if any, guilt.

- - -

Aside from the spare key sitting meekly in the room when Dokja came back to retrieve it the next day, there was no sign showing that anything ever occurred there - kudos to the twins for cleaning the floor so thoroughly.

Due to mostly being stuck in his room, Dokja barely if ever saw their partners in the company, aside from the few times he went to the cafeteria and accidentally caught Yoo Joonghyuk’s or Secretive Plotter’s eyes, who came from the opposite direction. However, every time, Dokja would firmly turn his head away and refuse to look back, making it clear to the two that he had no intention of acknowledging what happened, which must also be what they wanted.

A few more weeks passed by, with the project still going swimmingly, and Dokja thought that was the end of it, then - until a hand suddenly clasped his shoulder when he was turning his apartment door open on a late night. Already startled, seeing Yoo Joonghyuk’s intense glare and Secretive Plotter’s nonchalant smile when he whipped his head back only made Dokja more panicked.

Were they only pretending nothing happened so they could ambush and secretly kill him-

“Is it okay if we talk to you?”

“... I’m sorry?” He blinks in confusion at Secretive Plotter’s question and just stays there frozen for a while, which apparently pissed Yoo Joonghyuk off so much that the younger twin simply opened the door.

“Uh- Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi?! Wait a minute-”

“You don’t even have a table?” The man wrinkled his nose at the sight of his barren apartment, and his twin also frowned in disapproval. Blinking a bit more in disbelief at how the company partners apparently followed him home and now just barged into his flimsy apartment as if they owned the place, Dokja eventually sighed in resignation and closed the door behind him.

“My apologies, I don’t buy unnecessary furniture.” Ignoring how Yoo Joonghyuk’s glare intensified at his passive-aggressive answer, Dokja pulled out the thin mattress he used for sleep and spread it on the floor before gesturing for the twins to sit down. “Please bear with this for now. And… Is there something you want to tell me?”

After a brief hesitation, the twins sat down, filling Dokja with a twisted sense of satisfaction at seeing rich people having to comply with his poor life.

Secretive Plotter cleared his throat before regaining his usual cocky demeanor. “We suppose you already know what we want to talk about, Kim Dokja-ssi.”

“Ah, there’s no need to use honorifics with me.” Dokja nodded, then waved his hand at the latter part of his words. After all, these people were the important partners whose asses his CEO has been kissing for weeks, while he’s simply a lowly employee.

The two stared at him for a moment, before Secretive Plotter tilted his head with a smile. “In that case, don’t use honorifics with us, either.”

“... Excuse me? Is that really okay?”

“It is. After all, you’ll eventually become our family.”

“... My apologies, I’m not following.”

“We would like you to sign this contract,” Secretive Plotter took out a document from his bag, “where you will enter a fake marriage with my brother, Joonghyuk, and help us hide our relationship from others.”

Dokja stared at the man for a long while, and when he still hadn’t said ‘just kidding,’ he turned to Yoo Joonghyuk, who didn’t help at all by simply flicking his head toward the document. “Just read it.”

He flipped through the pages, reread the contract multiple times, and set it down once he’s gotten the gist of it, as well as fully understanding his responsibility.

Basically, he would be in this fake marriage for an indefinite time until Secretive Plotter and/or Yoo Joonghyuk deemed it necessary to call it off, he would need to ensure good enough acting in front of other people so that they would be fooled about the authenticity of this marriage - including the twins’ parents and family - in addition to other duties that would assist those two in hiding their secret.

Most shocking of all is the contract price - the number ‘60 million won per year’ stared back at Dokja’s wide eyes mockingly.

“... This…” He found it difficult to form words from just how ridiculous this whole thing was. “Was this all because I saw you two that day? In that case, there’s no need for a contract like this.”

At Secretive Plotter’s raised eyebrow and Yoo Joonghyuk’s narrowed eyes in question, Dokja clarified. “I have no intention of telling anyone of this - had I wanted to, I would’ve done so the moment I caught you in the act. You don’t have to waste so much money making me sign this. I plan to continue keeping quiet and staying out of your way.”

The two looked at him in silence for a while, and what Yoo Joonghyuk eventually said caught him off guard. “Is the price not high enough?”

“... What?” Dokja shook his head. “No, this isn’t about the price…”

“Then, is there already someone you love, whom you don’t want to betray by entering this contract? In that case, we will be sure to make an excuse so they won’t misunderstand.” Secretive Plotter followed his brother in asking something even more ridiculous.

“... No, it’s not that, either.” He placed a hand on his forehead exasperatedly. “Look, I just don’t see why you have to spend that much money on this when I can simply keep quiet for you without asking for anything. Really, we can forget all about this-”

A snort cut off his words, surprisingly coming from the stoic Yoo Joonghyuk, who then gave him a heated gaze. “Kim Dokja. Do you really expect us to simply take your word at face value without anything else as proof?”

The harshness in his voice caused Dokja to widen his eyes as the meaning dawned on him, even more so when his brother added in with a voice less harsh but infinitely colder. “Exactly - how can we just trust what you said? Now that you know this secret, nothing is stopping you from waiting for a moment where we drop our guard, then filming everything and letting everyone know. Are we supposed to just let a liability like that run around freely?”

Dokja alternated between staring at them and looking down at the contract for a while, before finally understanding the implications. “... Oh, I see. So, this contract is meant to make sure I’m under your control.”

“Yes.” Secretive Plotter grinned with all teeth. “And although we can never afford to let our relationship be publicly known, there are a few people in our inner circle who know, and thus can defend us in a secret trial. Thus…”

“If you break this contract, there will be hell to pay.” Yoo Joonghyuk finished for his twin with eyes that promised a painful death.

Surprising everyone there and himself, Dokja giggled at that before signing the contract in a swift move.

“... I had expected a bit more convincing.” Secretive Plotter received the papers back from him, looking slightly taken aback.

“Because now that I understood the true meaning of this contract, it made much more sense. Please don’t worry, I’ll keep my word.” Dokja smiled in a way that he hoped to be reassuring, which the twins just stared at in clear skepticism. However, they eventually also signed it themselves, their hands brushing deliberately against each other in such an intimate way that Dokja found himself looking away to give them privacy… even though they were the ones barging into his apartment.

“Well… Is there anything else I need to make note of, Yoo Joonghyuk? Or… Secretive Plotter-”

“Jihyun.” The man in question firmly cut him off. “You are to address me exclusively as ‘Yoo Jihyun’ from now on.”

Dokja blinked at him in surprise, and even his twin turned to him in shock. The older Yoo twin was notorious for not wanting his real name to be used by anyone else except his brother, who rarely ever did so anyway.

“Hyung,” Yoo Joonghyuk questioned with barely hidden concern, “are you sure…”

“Yes, Joonghyuk-ah.” The man stroked his brother’s cheek before turning back to Dokja with absolute certainty. “I’m okay with Kim Dokja using my real name, even in public. That would convince everyone into believing that you two have such a close relationship together that I’d allow him to address me that way.”

… Oh, now that made sense.

“Then, uh… Yoo Jihyun?” He voiced out experimentally and only continued when the man nodded in approval. “Anything else you’d want me to look out for?”

“Not really, because most of it is already covered in the contract. Just be sure to keep up your acting properly…”

“... and make sure that you never breathe a word of this to anyone.” Once again, Yoo Joonghyuk finished for his brother, as though wanting to drive into Dokja’s head that they were of the same mind.

“... Yes. You have my word.” Dokja smiled at them with a confidence that his mind didn’t feel.

A part of him wondered if he had just signed his own death sentence in the form of this unusual contract, but another, bigger part of him said screw it.

His life was already an unsalvageable mess before any of this ever happened.

What did it matter if he fucked it up a bit more?

- - -

“Dokja-ssi!! Congratulations on the marriage!! You and Yoo Joonghyuk-nim look so good together!!”

“Thank you so much, Sangah-ssi.” His newly acquired husband then tilts his head and giggles in such an uncharacteristic way that it sends a shiver down Joonghyuk’s spine. “And, oh my… Of course, I and Joonghyuk-ah look good together! We’re destined for each other, after all!!”

Unable to bear any more of the ‘doting spouse’ act that Kim Dokja has chosen to put on as his way to convince other people (with debatable success), Joonghyuk focuses on the way they interact with each other instead. That woman, Yoo Sangah, is apparently his husband’s closest, if not only friend at work - and based on how Kim Dokja is staring and replying in adoration at each of her words, there’s a certain something else underneath. It makes Joonghyuk feel a weird sense of connection between them - they’re both in love with someone else already, yet decided to sign up for this contract instead.

“Joonghyuk-ah,” the voice identical to his own, belonging to his most beloved person, suddenly speaks up behind him. “What intense staring. Should I be worried about losing you to Kim Dokja already?”

He turns back, half happy to see his brother and half irritated at his poor joke. “Don’t say that. You know that I love no one else but you.”

The words come out in a barely audible whisper, only meant for the twins’ ears, and his brother’s smile becomes more sincere at that. “I know. Sorry for that, but it’s just so fun to tease you.” That bastard then grins mischievously again. “Why are you standing here instead of talking to your husband? Didn’t you enjoy the kiss with him earlier?”

His ears feel hot as the memory returns to him. The kiss prompted by the priest earlier was the first time he ever kissed anyone besides his brother, and it, much as he loathed to admit, was… nice. Despite the obnoxious hysterical spouse act that Kim Dokja had been putting on up until that moment, the man cupped his cheeks and joined their lips with surprising care and tenderness.

Joonghyuk had thought he would loathe the idea of intimately touching anyone who wasn’t his brother, but in that moment, he actually wouldn’t mind if the kiss lasted a little longer so the feeling of Kim Dokja’s soft lips would be carved deeper into his mind.

But then his husband pulled away, smiled at him with an empty look, then darted his eyes toward Yoo Sangah so quickly that no one else noticed but Joonghyuk, who was inches from his face. It was a cold but needed reminder that neither of them was the one the other actually wanted to be with.

Still, that kiss proved that he wasn’t as averse to touching Kim Dokja as he originally thought, which made things easier to please that man when his needs arose - as already written in their contract. Of course, that’s only if Kim Dokja would even want Joonghyuk to fulfill his needs, instead of that woman.

“I’m not so heartless as to deny him a few moments with the person he actually loves.”

His brother glances in Kim Dokja and Yoo Sangah’s direction and hums in understanding. “It’s quite a tragic tale. But then again, he had signed up for this, just like us. This is something all of us have to accept - and especially if Kim Dokja wants to consummate this marriage later.”

“Would you even allow him to touch me tonight, you jealous freak?” Joonghyuk glares without any actual heat at his brother. “It was your fault that he even caught us in the first place.”

His twin’s face dusts with pink for a split second before it disappears with him clearing his throat. “Come on, I have promised not to ever be so reckless again.” A wistful look then colors his eyes. “... Thankfully, it was Kim Dokja who found us.”

A similar sense of relief runs through Joonghyuk’s body as he remembers that day. His brother was so irritated by how a female MinoSoft higher-up not-so-subtly flirted with him that he dragged Joonghyuk into a seemingly unfrequented storage room, and fucked him with a recklessness rarely found in the twin who was supposed to be calmer and more calculating.

Joonghyuk had shouted at him to stop at first and think of where they were, but at the hurt and vulnerable look in his twin’s eyes, he couldn’t help but allow his brother to get the reassurance needed. After all, he also frequently felt so insecure about this love that would never be recognized by others that he understood exactly what his beloved was feeling.

But then the door swung open, and Joonghyuk could have sworn his heart had stopped for a few seconds there. Jihyun also turned rigid as they both stared at the (rightful) intruder, a MinoSoft employee who stared back at them blankly.

The two got away from each other and prepared to stand up, ready to beat up the employee lest he scream or report them to anyone. And yet, to their bafflement, all the man did was close the door, took a pair of headphones, and left a key for them, before leaving as if nothing had happened. Judging by the muffled conversation they then heard, that man even went out of his way to convince his co-worker that he didn’t see them.

They had paid close attention to that man - Kim Dokja - after that and were unsure what to feel when he still hadn’t told anyone days - weeks - later. In fact, that man was so quiet and close-off that except for Yoo Sangah, he didn’t initiate a conversation with anyone in the company.

It was then that Jihyun came up with the idea of matchmaking him with Joonghyuk. The timing was good, anyway - their parents had been pestering them both about marriage for a while, obviously not trusting them to stay single and turning toward each other. Kim Dokja was easy enough on the eyes, and judging by his quiet persona at work, not someone who would run his mouth needlessly.

The two had needed a while to make peace with the fact that they would be willingly allowing another person into their secret, one they simply couldn’t trust with just anyone, but it relievingly didn’t take too long considering Kim Dokja was even less obnoxious and more cooperative than they expected.

At least, until he decided that this public persona was a good idea, for whatever reason.

“Joonghyuk-ah~!! Jihyun-hyung!!” The man lunges at him while screeching in an obviously fake high-pitched voice. “I’m a bit tired ~... Can we go home now?”

The implication in his words is clear - Kim Dokja has obviously noticed how Joonghyuk and his twin have shifted closer together and wanted them to leave early so they can finally enjoy the night. Yet, Joonghyuk’s eyebrows still twitch in irritation the same way his twin’s smile strains. Not because Kim Dokja is hugging him, but because of how he’s dragging his words as if he’s a cute teenage girl and not a grown 28-year-old man who’s a good 2 years older than them - even though he admittedly doesn’t look it.

“... Of course, Dokja.” In the end, as composed as ever, his twin’s smile regains its casualness. “Let me drive us all home.”

“Oh, thank you!!” Kim Dokja yells in that high-pitched tone again, making Joonghyuk barely hold back a cringe from second-hand embarrassment. The man turns back to wave at Yoo Sangah before getting in the car from the backseat, and after a brief hesitation, Joonghyuk sighs before following suit. They need to keep up the act in public anyway.

Yet, the moment Jihyun starts the car, Kim Dokja once again gives them a whiplash by turning completely quiet with his face blank, firmly keeping his gaze outside the window.

“... Are you tired, Kim Dokja? You seem less enthusiastic than earlier.” His twin breaks the silence after a while of his husband still intently playing a statue.

“Oh, no, not at all.” The man shakes his head. “It’s just… There’s no need to keep up an act right now.”

The sheer contrast between that teenage-girl bastard earlier and this emotionless man right now makes Joonghyuk unable to hold back his frustration. “Must you really choose such an… obnoxious persona?”

Kim Dokja at least has the decency to blush before defending himself. “People believed it, though!! No one would doubt that our marriage was authentic.”

Joonghyuk bites his lips, reluctant to admit that his husband is right. All of the guests earlier were either looking at Kim Dokja in second-hand embarrassment or giggling in amusement, but none of them seemed even the least bit doubtful of the act.

“Not even Sangah-ssi said anything. She’s usually a very perceptive person, but even she believed my act. Don’t worry.”

Kim Dokja’s smile tinges with bitterness at the woman’s name, and with that, the car turns silent again as the twins wisely choose not to say anything further. At least they, by virtue of being brothers, can always stay together, but that man’s chance with Yoo Sangah has pretty much gone to the negatives.

Even then, Joonghyuk doesn’t expect Kim Dokja to be so affected by that that he would go straight to his room after they get home, and he grabs his husband’s wrist questioningly. “Where are you going?”

“... Uhm… Back to my room?” The man dares to blink at him as if he’s the one who doesn’t understand anything. “Aren’t you two about to do it with each other?”

“But this is your marriage with him, Kim Dokja.” His twin interjects, voice calm but has a hint of reprimand underneath. “The contract stated clearly that he, too, has a responsibility to fulfill your sexual needs whenever you request or whenever it’s deemed necessary - which is right now, during your first night.”

“... It says that?”

“... Did you not read the contract carefully before signing?” Joonghyuk feels his blood pressure going up.

“I did!! … The part about my own responsibilities, that is.” Kim Dokja smiles sheepishly, and he has to hold back the urge to choke that damn neck.

Next to him, his twin sighs before regaining the usual light-hearted smile. “In short, you’re free to do anything you want with him. And don’t worry, you won’t be getting in our way. After all…” A mischievous glint flashes through his scarred eye. “Sex isn’t limited to two people.”

Joonghyuk watches in fascination at how Kim Dokja’s face turns bright red as the man turns back and hurriedly runs to his room before either can stop him. “... No, it’s fine, thank you!! I’m, uh, not feeling the need today! Have fun and good night!!”

- - -

“Would a normal, healthy 28-year-old grown man ever… ah… not feel the need?” Joonghyuk frowns at what happened earlier, his words briefly cut by Jihyun’s fingers hitting his prostate.

“Well…” His twin hums as he increases the fingers’ pace. “Unfortunately, it’s been established that your new husband isn’t ‘normal' or 'healthy’ for a 28-year-old grown man.”

He scoffs bitterly at the words, still remembering their astonishment when they found out that Kim Dokja was older than them and not a young intern as they had originally assumed. The man looked so thin, short, and baby-faced that Joonghyuk found it hard to believe his actual age even when Kim Dokja’s birth certificate was presented at the marriage registration.

Perhaps it only makes sense considering the man’s past that they easily dug up through a few Google searches, with constant childhood abuse from his father and how his mother killed her husband then wrote an extremely popular book about it, but looking at Kim Dokja with that context added in only makes him angrier.

“You can always make him eat more now that he’s living in the same house with us.” Jihyun pecks his lips as he pushes his bare cock in, and Joonghyuk almost doesn’t pay attention to his next words due to the familiar overwhelming pleasure. “Besides… To be honest, I’m glad he didn’t join us today.”

His twin’s bitter tone makes Joonghyuk cup his face, finding his own voice turning sad. “Because you’re still not used to the idea of anyone else touching me?”

“... Yes. Him kissing you for a short while at the altar is one thing, but here…” Jihyun lets out a long sigh despite still keeping a consistently fast pace with his thrusts. “I know that sooner or later, we’ll have to let him touch you because it’s in the contract, but…”

“Not right now. I understand, hyung. I’m… not as ready as I thought I would be, either.”

The gold ring that previously felt like nothing on his hand now suddenly became as heavy as an anchor, chaining him to a marriage he definitely wouldn’t have chosen had they not been brothers. However, life wouldn’t be life if it didn’t fuck them over.

His twin squeezes Joonghyuk’s left hand tightly to obscure the ring for a moment as he drives deep inside, biting his neck and growling possessively. “You may be married to Kim Dokja now… but you will always be mine.”

Joonghyuk moans at the feeling of his twin’s hot semen inside, his own cock twitching and releasing from the sheer pleasure of Jihyun claiming him. As they both pant softly to calm down from the orgasm, he pulls his twin’s left hand toward his mouth and places a kiss on the empty ring finger, declaring resolutely at how his brother shivers. “In another life, I would’ve put a ring on you, hyung.”

Jihyun’s eyes darken as he leans down to devour Joonghyuk’s lips the familiar, passionate way his twin always does when he’s jealous, and he’s only too glad to melt into it.

When his twin pulls away, however, a devilish smirk returns to his face now that he’s calmed down. “... But, who knows? In the future, maybe I would even get off on Kim Dokja fucking you in front of me. After all, life is unpredictable.”

Blushing at the bastard’s embarrassing words and refusing to acknowledge how his traitorous dick actually twitches at the thought, Joonghyuk slaps his brother’s head with no real strength in it. “Stop those freaky thoughts and fuck me properly before I mess your ass up instead.”

His twin grins, fully knowing that he’ll be the one getting pounded later. “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”

- - -

Dokja doesn’t know what to feel when he receives a bank alert mere moments after locking the door. He knows these people are rich, but to the point of casually delivering so much money when he still hasn’t done much beyond a bit of pretending at the wedding…

His cheeks unwillingly heat up as Yoo Jihyun’s suggestion earlier comes back to his mind, and Dokja has to firmly shake his head to prevent any expectations from ever forming.

The way those twins were talking together in a corner when they thought he wasn’t looking earlier made it obvious that he had no place between them, no matter what those two might be convincing themselves or him.

And it’s not as though they must permanently keep him as the beard. Maybe they will drop this contract after as soon as a month or less and potentially kill him to make sure the secret doesn’t spill - in fact, Dokja doesn’t understand why they didn’t just do that in the first place when they clearly had more than enough to afford an assassin. It’s not like he would’ve minded.

Dokja bites his lips, forcing himself to remember the less than pleasant experience with people who called themselves his family - whether his father, mother, or aunt and uncle.

The persona Yoo Joonghyuk criticized him for choosing earlier was based on his aunt, who was the perfect example of a seemingly loving wife, but a hysterical, nasty, and hypocritical human being inside - perfectly capturing the nature of this sorry excuse of a marriage.

As long as he continues to act like that in public and keep a firm distance between himself and the twins in private, he won’t have to ever expect anything. He’ll never have to be disappointed.

With a last slap on his cheek to stabilize his resolve, Dokja turns on his computer to begin working overtime, not wanting to think about anything anymore.
