Chapter Text
Everybody watched as Billy got stabbed by the Mindflayer. No body knew what to do except watch as Max ran to him and Mike ran to Eleven after the Mindflayer fell to the ground. When the fire department came and people started to put Billy’s body in a bag, that’s when everybody ran downstairs. Dr. Owens started to guide everyone outside and gave everyone blankets.
Everyone waited outside until it was time for them to go home. Dustin came back to the mall and he, Mike, and Lucas waited for Hopper and Joyce with Will and Eleven. Jonathan was with Nancy waiting for his mom to come back.
“Where are they?” Will said, fidgeting. He was getting really worried until he saw Hopper walking around in a Russian outfit looking for something or someone.
Eleven ran to him and immediately hugged him, crying. Will’s heart dropped as he didn’t see his mom with Hopper. He started walking up to him but when him and Hopper made eye contact, he felt like his heart shattered right at that moment. Hopper’s face told him everything that he needed to know.
Will shook his head and then collapsed to the ground, sobbing. Mike, Lucas, and Dustin ran to him and kept asking him what was wrong as he kept crying. Hopper then walked up to Will with Eleven with tears in his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, Will, I really am. Your mom was so brave, there was nothing else we could do.” Mike, Lucas, and Dustin must have understood what happened because they gave Will a giant hug.
“She promised- she promised she would be okay, that she would make it back here.” He cried even more.
Jonathan then ran to Will and asked him where Joyce was. Will couldn’t talk so when he looked at Hopper, he knew what happened.
Jonathan and Will hugged each other until they were both out of tears.
Later that night, Will and Jonathan stayed at the Wheeler’s for the night until they found out what to do. Since Hopper wasn’t their legal guardian, he couldn’t let them live with him and Eleven, so he was going to call Lonnie about it.
Jonathan and Nancy were going to go college after summer ended so Jonathan would only have to live with Lonnie for a month, but Will, he would have to live with him for a while.
On the other hand, Hopper and Eleven are moving to California because he doesn’t want anything else to happen to Eleven.
A week passed and finally Hopper told Will and Jonathan that they have to live with Lonnie. “I’m sorry you two, I tried my best.”
“It’s okay Hop, thank you for trying though.” Jonathan told him.
Will went back to the basement where Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Eleven, and Max waited.
“So what did he tell you?” Mike asked. He wanted Will to stay in Hawkins but he did know how bad Lonnie was at parenting.
“He said that we’re going to have to stay with Lonnie, Jonathan will only have to stay for a few weeks but I have to-“ his voice cracked
“I’m so sorry Will.” Max said. Her dad left a few days ago and she wasn’t mad about it but at least she knows what it’s like having an asshole of a father.
Lonnie lived in a tiny trailer in a neighbor hood but Will and Jonathan would have to share a room.
Another few days passed when it was the day that Hopper and Eleven moved to California. Jonathan and Nancy made the choice that they were going to go to college early to unpack so he is leaving Will alone with his father.
Hopper and Eleven didn’t have a lot to pack because of the damage the Mindflayer did to his house but everybody still can to say goodbye.
Everyone was crying as they all hugged Eleven goodbye. Hopper gave Will a hug and told him how sorry he was again, then they were on their way.
Jonathan and Nancy left later that day which wasn’t as long because they were flying. Will stayed at the Wheeler’s until Lonnie was supposed to pick him up.
Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas were all talking and eating pizza until they heard a knock. Will’s heart dropped the second time that month when they all went upstairs to open the door.
When Mike opened the door, in came Lonnie with his arms back to hug Will.
“Oh my, have you grown! I haven’t seen you in like 2 years.” Will seemed very uncomfortable in the hug, but he did hug back or Lonnie might do something.
The boys said their goodbyes as Lonnie brought Will to his new home.
