Chapter Text
Was the room spinning? Surely not…
Sheng Wang’s head throbbed. His body hurt all over. Being mugged was definitely not a pleasant experience.
He looked at the clock in the waiting room. It had only been 10 minutes since he arrived but each minute felt like a lifetime.
The receptionist told him it was his turn to be seen next. He got up, leaning on the chair’s arm and hauling up his work bag, and walked towards the examining room.
Inside he took a seat directly on the clinic bed, not wanting to move around multiple times.
A few minutes later a man in a white coat entered, studying his notepad for the patient notes. It was just Sheng Wang’s luck. He was handsome and he held himself in a self assured manner. Sheng Wang gulped.
“Hello. I’m Dr. Jiang Tian. Please tell me.” Dr Jiang Tian looked up from his notepad with sharp eyes. He blinked when he looked at Sheng Wang.
“Oh, you look pretty roughed up. What happened?”
“Hm? Oh right. Um, I got mugged.” Sheng Wang said, blinking back tears from the pain and reminder of the incident.
“I’m fine mostly.” He continued,” Well, except it hurts.”
“Okay.. Where does it hurt?” Jiang Tian asked, looking over Sheng Wang.
“Pretty much all over?” Sheng Wang winced as his stomach twinged. “But mainly my head, stomach, arms, legs.”
“Alright, I’m going to check you over.”
Jiang Tian stepped towards him. As he began his inspection, Sheng Wang became hyper aware of their closeness. Jiang Tian smelled of chemicals and had a comforting scent Sheng Wang couldn’t name. His voice was soft as he asked Sheng Wang if it hurt where he pressed. Sheng Wang held onto that softness as he grit his teeth through the pain.
Jiang Tian conducted his standard checks for concussions and checked Sheng Wang’s head for any signs of bleeding. He checked his eyes, moving a little flashlight. As Jiang Tian looked directly into his eyes, Sheng Wang held his breath.
Jiang Tian turned off the torch, and Sheng Wang didn’t dare blink, despite the dark spot now moving around in his field of vision. Was it his imagination or did Jiang Tian’s eyes seem to soften?
He glanced at his lips, and Sheng Wang again wondered if the potential concussion was affecting him.
“Does your jaw hurt?”
“Oh um it’s fine.”
“Your lips are torn, let me clean them up. Hold still, it might hurt.”
Jiang Tian was gentle as he disinfected the hurt area. Sheng Wang hissed.
He dabbed a cotton cloth on his lips. Sheng Wang took this time to look into Jiang Tian’s eyes. He wondered if doctor’s usually treated their patient’s so well. And if was even their job to do these tasks.
Jiang Tian glanced up, Sheng Wang quickly looked away.
Dammit! Sheng Wang could feel his cheeks heating up.
Jiang Tian gave him an ointment. “Apply this.”
He moved towards his desk.
“I’m prescribing you a few antibiotics and painkillers. There seem to be no broken bones but I’m prescribing an Xray for your abdomen, just in case. You may have a minor concussion, I recommend complete rest for the next 2 days. Apply the prescribed ointments twice a day. A nurse will see you to take care of any scrapes and scratches.”
“Oh okay, thanks” Sheng Wang gave a small smile. He felt tired already.
“And don’t worry, you’ll be fine.” Jiang Tian gave him a small smile. Sheng Wang couldn’t help but notice the small dimple on his cheek, and how it made him look cuter.
Jiang Tian nodded and went off to see his next patient.
Sheng Wang felt a twinge of disappointment.
He wondered if they’d get to meet again.
