Chapter 1: Kenzie + Camille & Odile

Chapter Text

Kenzie
______
It's nice, seeing my dad already begin to dote over my new friend and her sister.

With both the team and L'Equipe Etoile having to broadcast our dances for Internationals at The Next Step, it obviously meant that team France needed a place to stay for a few days. Luckily for them, the exchange program with Pascale also informed us that before she came that, given permission, each member of our team could host 1 or 2 of them when the time for competition came.

Meaning Camille and Odile are gonna be my roommates for the week! This is going to be a great time. While I was staying in France for those few weeks, I had to stay at a hotel. (Absolute Dance at-least paid for it.) So, this is much more different, and better, experience!

After stuffing our faces with some desserts my dad baked just for the occasion, (I don't think I've seen him look so proud as when both sisters gave him to thumbs up for his French dishes.), we decided to unpack in my room.

"So, Kenzie. Camille is telling me there's this boy that you like?" Odile asks as she lies on her stomach at her mattress. This gets her a whack in the arm from her sister, but I try to just laugh it off.

"Um, yeah...his name is Pete." I answer, moving to hang up some of their clothing to give me something else to focus on.

"Do you know if he likes you back?"

Ah, I remember being that innocent. Odile is only 15, so romantic stuff like this is some of the only drama she's experiencing at the moment.

Truthfully, I don't know where Pete and I stand. With that fight earlier over me practicing for the audition for the Freya tour instead of our routines for Internationals, things have been messier with him then ever. (Even more than when we "broke-up" a few months ago.)

I was hoping that by me making myself the alternate that it would also show him that I am committed to this team. But, as soon as rehearsals were over, he just walked out. Not even saying a word.

Camille thankfully sees the look on my face and butts in.

"Ah Camille, Kenzie doesn't want to talk about boring crap like that. We came here to spend time with and learning about her herself." She says, with a look.

I don't have any siblings, but I'm pretty sure it's saying to "Shut the hell up!"

"True, sorry about that Kenzie. Oh! Do you also bake like your dad?! Cause that food was so good-" And then she is off.

I catch Camille's eye and give her a nod of thanks, which she winks back at.

Well, even if one of the most important relationships I have ever had may be in danger, at-least I know I'll still have her here by my side.

Chapter 2: Heath + Gui

Notes:

The worse parts of Heath’s home life are only really hinted at in this, but I still feel like I should give a note that his mother is not the best person.

Though, there are also some body image issues. So, please be warned.

Chapter Text

Heath
______
"I should have an old suit in here somewhere. Got one once that was way too big for me. You're taller though so it should fit you fine." I says as I ruffle through my closet.

Gui stands behind me patiently, waiting to see what I have. It's been alright so far having him here. I was a bit reluctant at first, not because was I worried about anything he would do.

My mom though…not so much.

Thankfully, she's off visiting one of my aunts, so it's been peaceful.

L'Equipe Etoile arrived with a letter this morning when they first got to the studio, suggesting that we should hold a party to get to know them. Leading me to try and find some clothes for both Gui and I.

I hand him back the one I was just talking about. It's a black, button-up shirt, with some silk, red pants, and a blazer that matches. He thanks me with a smile, and my eyes widen when he immediately starts stripping to change into it!

What the fuck is he doing?!

Okay, I know I should be used to it. I’ve seen the other guys in the studio wearing much less in the shower-rooms almost daily. (I swear it’s gonna take Richelle a year to see Ozzy in that state almost as much as I did. He had next to no shame!)

But, this is my room, and having an almost-naked guy in here was never in my plan for my life.

I let out a bit of a cough and turn away. Why does my face feel hot? Uh! Doesn't matter! Maybe I should just follow his lead and do the same so I can focus on...anything else besides this.

Taking off my green t-shirt, I put it on my bed and reach for the white, button up shirt of my own outfit.

“Heath, you’re looking in shape.” I hear Gui suddenly say, startling me.

It feels like my heart is pounding as I turn around to see him fully dressed again. I can’t lie, it does look good on him. All I can think of is the compliment though.

Not many people have said stuff like that about me. Most of the other boys I’ve ever danced with, like Ozzy, Finn or Pete are a lot more built than I am. I never really felt like I could be considered as conventionally attractive as them with how skinny my body is.

It’s…kind of nice being told otherwise.

“Oh…um, thanks Gui. That’s nice of you to say.” I try to show my gratitude for what he says , but is comes out as more of an awkward mumble.

Still, he smiles at me and goes to grab his phone that he left charging on my bed. As soon as he’s out of my direct vision, I speed up putting on the rest of my suit.

This is all just really weird. I’m supposed to focusing on having a good time Pascale tonight. I’ve liked her for weeks now, and heck, I even got a matching corsage to her’s! Whatever the fuck this thing that’s going on with Gui is is not going to get in the way of me asking her out tonight!
