Work Text:
Min Yoongi was once again alone at the club, sitting at one of the tables on the side, slowly sipping on a drink. There were a couple of empty glasses on the table, but this wasn’t the only thing indicating that this wasn’t his first drink. He felt as if his head was slowly swaying from left to right and this was actually the case. He sighed and rested his face on his palms, elbows leaning on his knees. Suddenly he felt someone’s body on his side. The sudden feeling of another person startled him and he quickly looked up. It was a small blonde girl wrapping her arms around Yoongi’s arm and drunkenly blinking and smiling at the male. Yoongi felt his breath hitch in his throat, feeling uncomfortable under a foreign person’s touch. The girl was too close for comfort, and she was saying something into his ear which he couldn’t make out due to panicking and the blaring music at the night club. He turned his head forward, swallowing and trying to think of a way out of the situation.
It was then, when an orange haired boy was walking around the dance floor, trying to push his way through the sweaty bodies and the obnoxiously loud music to get to a quieter, calmer spot in the nightclub. He saw an empty spot next to a mint haired boy who was currently very close to a girl. He looked at the boy who saw him, and their gazes met. What he saw was a call for help and the prettiest face he had ever seen. The boy walked over and sat next to the other boy. The girl hanging onto Yoongi was now leaning her head on his shoulder, and Yoongi looked to his right, where the other boy had just sat on.
“Is she… bothering you?” the orange haired boy wearing a white button up shirt and black skinny jeans asked him. Yoongi nodded slowly, closing his eyes, trying to calm down.
“Then let’s go” the other boy said, and suddenly Yoongi was pulled up from the couch, leaving the girl with her mouth agape, looking offended. The slightly taller boy was holding Yoongi’s hand and Yoongi was still feeling out of breath, trying to calm down. They walked past the security guard outside. The cool air felt good on Yoongi’s face, and they walked a couple of steps until he stopped to put his hands on his knees, looking down at the ground. The other boy stopped next to him and looked at him worriedly. The smaller boy was wearing a denim jacket that was at least two sizes too big on his small frame, and his jeans were loose as well, and ripped.
After a while of taking a few deep breaths and calming himself down from the attack, Yoongi got up and looked at the other boy, irritation replacing his previous feelings.
“What the fuck are you doing?” he blurted out, maybe sounding a little meaner than he intended. The sudden sharp tone made the other boy slightly startled, eyes widening just slightly.
“Wh… What do you mean?” the boy answered confused.
“You can go back inside now, you didn’t have to come outside with me” he said bluntly while reaching for the pocket in his jacket and pulling out a cigarette from a packet and putting it in between his lips.
“What’s your name?” the other boy answered, now completely ignoring the other boy’s irritation.
Yoongi raised his other eyebrow while lighting the cigarette, and after taking a long drag he replied.
“Why do you care? And I’m Yoongi.” The other boy smiled at him.
“My name is Jimin. Nice to meet you!” he followed Yoongi who went to lean on the wall of the building and sat down on the ground. Jimin sat next to him.
“I told you that you can leave me alone now” Yoongi said, flicking his cigarette, ashes falling to the ground.
“Do you want me to leave?” Jimin said and held his knees close to his body, resting his face on his knees.
Yoongi turned to look at him to really look at his face. Jimin had pretty eyes full of emotion, and right now he looked curious. His cheeks looked soft and he really had quite the baby face. Yoongi sighed and turned his head to look forward again. He put the cigarette between his lips and filled his lungs with the menthol flavored smoke. The closer look at his face had made him feel weird and he knew this wasn’t good.
“I just figured you’d want to leave” he said blankly, still staring forward. Jimin’s face scrunched up in confusion, but then he realized that the other boy had a point; they had just met and had barely talked, so it was sort of weird to just spend time together. Jimin was like that though, he liked to meet new people and make friends, and something about Yoongi made him want to stay there with him. The boy looked small and fragile, but extremely pretty. His skin was so pale and his slim fingers looked oddly beautiful holding the cigarette. Jimin chuckled.
“I’ll leave if you want me to, but for now I’m good here” he said and continued, “are you okay though?”
Yoongi nodded and threw his cigarette butt in front of him and stepped on it.
“I just don’t like…” he started but trailed off. Jimin didn’t want to push it any further so he just let it drop.
Silence fell in between the two after that. Yoongi decided that maybe Jimin would be okay. He didn’t seem to have any bad intentions and Yoongi was drunk anyway, he didn’t feel bad about talking to new people in this state. And if he ended up being a murderer, Yoongi thought, then whatever.
Jimin was feeling the late night’s cold since he had no jacket. He pulled his legs closer to his body and shivered a little. The other boy noticed this and stopped his thoughts to look at Jimin, who had his face hidden in his knees.
“Are you cold?” Yoongi asked and Jimin nodded. “Why don’t you have a jacket on?” Jimin shrugged.
“I didn’t have time to go pick it up because we got out so quickly”
He felt the body next to him moving and saw Yoongi getting up.
“C’mon, go get your jacket. Or go back inside, whatever. I wanna leave” he said, not looking at Jimin but staring off into the distance. He swayed a little, alcohol still present in his blood. Jimin got up after him and looked at Yoongi.
“Oh… Um” Jimin started, rubbing his neck, “I don’t want to go back so I guess I’ll just leave as well. Yoongi nodded to this, still avoiding Jimin’s look. He felt uncomfortable now, realizing that this person was still trying to hang around him, and he didn’t understand why.
“Do you want to wait for me so we can walk together maybe? You’re a little drunk so I could…” Jimin trailed off when the other boy turned to look at him.
“I’ll be fine, and you shouldn’t waste your time on me” Yoongi replied and actually let out a laugh, and Jimin could catch the bitter undertone in it. Jimin frowned at this and placed his hand on the shorter boy’s shoulder. Yoongi felt the boy’s warm touch through his jacket and his stomach was doing the somersaults.
“Just wait two seconds I’ll be right back” he said pointing up a finger, and after Yoongi hesitantly nodded he ran off inside to grab his jacket.
Yoongi was smoking another cigarette when Jimin got back outside. He threw on his black leather jacket and put his hands in his pockets. Yoongi nodded off to the general direction of his apartment and Jimin started walking that way, making sure Yoongi was following him.
“What is your deal?” Yoongi asked with no anger or bitterness in his tone, just pure curiosity. Jimin looked at him, again confused on what he was asking, but decided to just answer anything.
“I didn’t want to be at the club… My friend Jungkook dragged me to go with him, but right as we arrived he disappeared to go find girls to talk to. He turns into a ladies’ man when he’s had alcohol. And I’m not a guy like that, I mean…” he trailed off but left the sentence at that, and continued “so basically I was just alone trying to find a place to sit. But leaving was better. I don’t like places like that.” Yoongi looked at him and nodded.
“But why are you following me though?” Yoongi kept on persisting, it was the drunkenness making him braver to talk and he really did not understand why this boy wanted to spend time with him.
“Why do you care?” the orange haired boy laughed, and Yoongi stopped in his tracks.
“I’m bored and you seem lonely” he said. This made Jimin turn around to look at the other boy who was now standing still. They had just met and they knew nothing about each other, but Yoongi wanted him to stick around.
“I don’t wanna go home yet” Yoongi mumbled and started walking again. He knew where he wanted to go and he was hoping maybe his new company would follow him. Jimin didn’t want to lose this opportunity; he didn’t want to risk never seeing this person again.
They walked in silence, the streetlights casting orange light in the dark, making everything look warm. Jimin walked a step behind Yoongi, watching the way he walked, the way his hair jumped up and down a little with every step.
Eventually Yoongi stopped in front of a small concrete building that looked run-down and abandoned. It was an old mall that had been out of use for at least ten years now. Yoongi had a habit of coming here every once in a while, throwing rocks and breaking every window that wasn’t broken already or just sitting on one of the floors smoking or maybe drinking. This was his secret spot and he wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to show it to Jimin but he brushed off the thought. He turned around to face Jimin who was looking up at the building. Yoongi just stared at him and tried to gather his thoughts.
“Is this where you wanted to go?” Jimin asked and Yoongi nodded in response.
“Why?” Jimin chuckled and stepped closer to the smaller boy, who just turned around and kept walking. Jimin pushed his hair back with his hand and followed him.
They climbed up the floors, eventually reaching the highest floor and from there they used a ladder to get to the roof. It was a large empty space with railings on the side. The wind wasn’t bad and all the walking had warmed Jimin up anyway, so he felt good. He walked around, kicking small rocks and empty cans and bottles on the ground. Yoongi sat down and lit yet another cigarette. When Jimin saw this he went to sit in front of him and crossed his legs.
“Tell me about yourself” Jimin said smiling and looking at the other boy who was again looking off into the distance.
“Why?”
“Because I feel like I want to get to know you”
This startled Yoongi. What? He didn’t feel like questioning it, so he just took a long drag of his cigarette and blew the smoke to the sky.
“There’s not much to tell about myself, and I don’t even know what to say” he started, looking at Jimin in the eyes. “And I guess I’m not really good at talking anyway”
Jimin hummed for response. He looked up to the stars and Yoongi stared at his jaw line. Why did it look so nice?
“Why were you at the club tonight? You don’t seem like the type of person who would go there”
Yoongi sighed at the question. He didn’t want to seem attention-seeking but they had only just met and would probably never meet again, so what harm would it do to tell the truth?
“I like getting drunk to forget” was his answer. Jimin looked at him furrowing his brows.
“To forget about my life” Yoongi clarified.
“Oh…?” Jimin replied, wanting to know more. Yoongi laughed.
“I sound so emo right now, don’t I?” and Jimin chuckled shyly, not wanting to hurt the other one’s feelings.
“Yeah… Maybe a little” and Yoongi softly punched his arm, but after that he got serious again.
“Every day is the same. Everything is just so… Draining. I feel tired and alone all the time, I feel small and irrelevant and not enough” he sighed “I just want to be happy and to forget.” Jimin nodded at Yoongi’s sudden outburst of emotions and truly felt bad for him. He could see the sadness setting on the other boys face.
“Hey Yoongi… Look at the stars…” Jimin said and they both looked up. The stars were visible from the roof, and the longer they looked, the more they could see. Yoongi laid down and Jimin moved over to lay next to him. Jimin felt nervous next to Yoongi, and turned to look at him. The mint-haired boy turned his head to face the boy.
“What are you looking at?” he asked laughing and Jimin looked at his eyes that were smiling too.
“I was just thinking that… this is nice,” he shyly admitted. “To be here with you.” Jimin continued. Yoongi could feel a blush coming up. His gaze didn’t meet Jimin’s, but was focused on the other boys hand that was now resting on top of his.
“And…” Jimin said “I know that we just met so I can’t say that I know you, but I know for sure that you’re not irrelevant and I know that you are enough.” He felt nervous saying all of this. “And I wish you wouldn’t feel like that” Jimin said while staring at the sky.
“And I think it would be nice to get to know you, because there is something about you that I can’t just wrap my head around.” he finished off, softly squeezing the cold hand under his.
But then Jimin jumped to sit up to look at him and quickly added “and I’m sorry if any of this is making you uncomfortable, I just…” he trailed off when the other boy sat up as well. Jimin looked at Yoongi and he was smiling, but his eyes had a foreign emotion behind them.
“Thank you, Jimin” he quietly mumbled. Jimin smiled shyly, and now it was his turn to feel his cheeks blush.
“Don’t you think this is weird though?” Yoongi said grapping Jimin’s wrist and placing his hand in the air, palm facing his face. Jimin looked surprised but Yoongi decided to continue anyway.
“Like you said, we just met and barely know anything about each other,” he continued while putting his hand softly against Jimin’s, feeling tingly on the tips of his fingers that were touching the other boy.
“But we’re still sitting here, in my secret spot, looking at the stars,” he quickly glanced up and returned his gaze then to Jimin’s. “Talking about how it’s nice?” he finished off, looking at their hands that were touching in the air. Jimin nodded slowly.
“Yeah… But I feel comfortable?” Jimin said and pushed his fingers to go in between Yoongi’s. And it was true. The whole night he had had this warm feeling inside of him, feeling happy and nervous yet still comfortable. He wanted to be with this boy, even though he only knew a little about him. It felt like it was something about them that was just right. And while he was embracing the feeling to the fullest, Yoongi was trying to fight against it inside of him, to kill the butterflies in his stomach. He was scared of letting people in, scared of opening up even the amount he already had, making himself vulnerable. He didn’t want to disappoint people, so it was easier to just keep to himself. But with Jimin, it was getting harder and harder by the second, as he felt their fingers lace together. And it was all weird and foreign to feel like this about someone right away, but at the same Yoongi was happy, and he hummed in agreement. Jimin squeezed his hand softly at this affirmation.
“It’s late,” Yoongi said while looking at their intertwined hands resting on his knee with much curiosity.
“Oh… Do you want to leave?” Jimin asked sounding slightly hurt, and to that Yoongi laughed. His drunkenness was all gone and it made him tired.
“No, not really, but we probably should. And I’m getting cold too” he said while getting up and pulling Jimin up behind him, since they were still holding hands.

On the way home they found out that Yoongi was two years older than Jimin, and so he felt responsibility to walk him home. They got to his house sooner than either of them would have liked and Jimin turned to face Yoongi.
“Can we please meet again?” he asked innocently, as though they had not just a while ago talked about how they both felt something unusual between them. Yoongi nodded, looking Jimin in the eyes and looking sincere and honest with this promise.
“Please stay safe” Jimin said. Yoongi nodded again.
“I will try,” he replied, while getting on his toes to place a quick kiss on Jimin’s forehead, his lips only barely brushing his skin. As he placed his heels back to the ground, Jimin looked at Yoongi’s closed eyes with his lips slightly apart from the surprise that the sudden kiss had caused.
“I promise we’ll meet again” Yoongi said, and let go of Jimin’s hand. The younger nodded at this, not wanting to question on how and when in the fear of making the older stressed out about it. And with that, Yoongi turned around and started walking while grabbing a cigarette from the pack in his pocket. He waved one last time and Jimin stood there watching the minty hair, the small frame and the smoke coming from the cigarette get further and further away.
