Poseidon didn't regress often.
Being an Olympian God, the man simply had too much to do on a regular basis to be able to regress consistently. He had to watch over his domain, do his job to keep order in the oceans, and occasionally deal with pesky heroes who dared to harm his domain or children. Such was the case with Odysseus. Poseidon knew that his children dying was natural and even if it was a hero the killed them, he would usually take no notice. After all, the deed was done and there was nothing to be done to fix it. However, Odysseus didn't kill Polyphemus. He disabled him and gave him his name before leaving him alive. Now, Poseidon had been insulted before and done next to nothing about it. But to be blatantly disrespected by a wannabe hero with a moral compass, that was something he wouldn't stand for. Which is how he ended up here.
He wouldn't admit it to the hero, but the first time he confronted Odysseus and killed over 400 of his men, he'd been regressed and in the midst of a well concealed tantrum because of the hero killing Polyphemus. But of course, even when he came out of his headspace, that hadn't been enough retribution for the God. No, he needed to either see Odysseus dead or his son blinded. Which is what led him to camping out on the shores of Ithaca for ten years and ultimately to this moment. He felt his anger spike when he saw Odysseus sailing towards the shores of the island kingdom and his response showed that. Creating rough waves and choopy water, he sloshed the man's boat around, hoping to knock him off as he growled out harsh threats. What caught him off guard was when Odysseus spoke softly to him. He hesitated, the softness of the King's tone reminding him immediately of how Apollo, his caregiver, talked to him when he was fussy while regressed. It reminded him so much, in fact, that his headspace slipped a little.
The King spoke up, "We're both hurting from losses so why not leave this here and just go gome?"
"I cant...." The God mumbled softly, his little headspace starting to cloud his mind.
"Maybe you can learn to forgive?"
Shaking his head harshly, Poseidon snapped himself out of it. No way he was going to let this puny hero get to him that easily.
"No."
From there, things were a blur. Poseidon used almost his full power, creating an attack that he thought for sure would take Odysseus down. But it seemed that wasn't enough. The man shot from the water like a bullet, enabling the help of the wind bag to fly around and attack him relentlessly. The man was so fast that he couldn't react, being brutally subjected to hundreds of strikes from his sword. When he finally fell to the rocks below, he could barely move. Golden ichor dripped from his various wounds. It wasn't enough to kill, but it certainly stung and rendered him almost immobile.
He groaned softly in pain, looking up at the sky and then Odysseus with a pained grin. "You released my storm. Now you'll never get back to your home." He declared presumptuously. But when Odysseus glanced back at him, he shrunk back a little. His eyes...Why did they have a dangerous gleam to them? When the hero demanded that he call off the storm, Poseidon was perplexed. "Or what? You can't kill me." He may have seemed very confident, but Odysseus likely noticed the tremble in his voice.
Hearing the sound of metal on rock, he watched fearfully as Odysseus picked his trident up and spoke again. "Exactly." A silent threat was made, one that said 'You'll only wish you were dead.'
"wait...WAIT- AUGH!" The sea God cried out as he was stabbed with his own weapon before it was roughly yanked back out. Despite the fact that his trident was also gold, his Ichor shone brightly against it, dripping off the prongs and puddling on the ground. He thought that was the end of it and was completely unprepared for the onslaught that came. With each blow and each stab of the trident, he cried out in agony, Odysseus's words barely registering in his mind. Golden ichor gushed from his wounds as they were disturbed by the constant stabbing and pulling of the weapon. Poseidon thought he knew pain before, but never in his immortal life had he ever experienced such excruciating pain. He could feel his little headspace creeping in as a response to his distress but he did his best to keep it at bay, only allowing a few tears to brim his eyes as he begged Odysseus to cease his attacks.
"enough..." He whispered.
"Stop~!" He groaned out.
"STOP!" He screamed.
A sob ripped through him as the attacks continued anyway, tears rollingswiftly down his cheeks. He wanted to do something, anything to make the pain stop but for the life of him he just couldn't move. Eventually, when he felt the pain becoming too much for him to bear, he conceded.
"Alright..."
With that, the storm dissipated and Odysseus ceased his onslaught, dropping the trident with a loud clang. When the King was finally out of sight and out of earshot, the dam broke. Poseidon was thrown headfirst into his headspace, a cacophony of sobs wracking his injured body. He laid in a puddle of his own ichor in absolute agony, his clothes more gold than blue at this point. "Dada!" He cried, hoping Apollo would be able to hear. A flash of light appeared before him and when it dimmed, there stood Apollo. The Sun God had his usual smile on his face that quickly disappeared when he saw the state of his little one. He rushed over and dropped to his knees, "What happened little stingray?" He asked, one of his hands comfortingly carding through Poseidon's hair while the other hesitantly hovered over Poseidon's wounded body. " 'Dysseus hu't me! He scawy dada!" The little cried, reaching out for Apollo. "Hu'ts Dada! Make it stop!" He sobbed, his body trembling harshly with the force of them.
"I know darling, I know. Dada's gonna make it better, he promises." Another moment later, Poseidon softly whimpered. His caregiver was about to question what was wrong before he saw a quickly spreading dark patch on the Littles pants, a puddle slowly forming under him as well as his bladder voided. Apollo supposed it was likely due to the pain all over his body that Poseidon couldn't tell that he had to pee and regardless he couldn't fault him for having an accident after such a scary situation. Soft cries escaped Poseidon when he realized what he'd done and he whimpered out apologies. " 'm sowwy Dada... Didn't mean to..." Apollo simply shushed him gently, "Its alright little one. You didnt know you had to go. Its ok. Lets get you home so we can clesn you up and get you healed." He lifted Poseidon as gently as he could into his arms before transporting both of them back to his infirmary on Olympus.
Once they arrived, he went to a private room, knowing Athena was still In the regular infirmary. Poseidon didn't like Athena on a good day and he definitely didn't want her knowing about his regression. So, Apollo thought a private room was best. He set him down on the bed and set to work. Firstly, he needed to get him out of his spoiled pants. He gently took them off and set them aside before wiping him down and summoning some new ones to put on him. Since Poseidon didn't often have accidents in headspace and this was likely a one off, he forewent a pull up for now. Once he was clean, he started on the wounds. "Alright darling, this may hurt and Dada's really sorry." He slowly pulled Poseidon's top off, wincing when he felt how soaked with ichor it was and when he saw the extent of the damage.
Like the pants, he set the top to the side and set to work. He gently wiped away all the ichor with a wet cloth, being careful around the many stab wounds. Once everything was clean, he started to heal his little one. His hands glowed gold as he rested them gently on Poseidon's torso. The little felt a rush of warmth eminate from Apollo's hands and watched in fascination as his wounds began to close. Apollo could only heal a certain amount before having to wait a little bit to do it again, but by the time he finished, the wounds were only deep enough to need bandages, which he quickly wrapped around his baby. "Feel better, little shark?" He asked, earning a little nod. "Alright. Let's get you in some comfy clothes and we can just relax for a while. I'm sure you're getting sleepy." With that, Apollo dressed Poseidon in a blue Chiton, something he was sure was more comfortable than his usual outfit. Once his baby was comfy, he got into the bed with him, holding the little close to his chest. "Comfy, baby?" A nod was given along with a yawn which he chuckled at. He was sure the battle itself took a lot out of Poseidon, not to mention the fear of what Odysseus did to him. He would have to ask for more specific details later once he was big again, but for now, the sea God needed this.
He softly hummed a tune meant to aid sleep and watched as his little one slowly succumbed to its power. His eyes drooped and his yawns became more frequent while his thumb inched it's way into his mouth. "Sweet dreams, little one." He whispered, the words being the last thing Poseidon heard before drifting peacefully to sleep.
