Work Text:
I might write this myself but anyone can use this idea :>
Basically starts during idk like, early middle school, probs about 6th grade.
Red Shoe Theory is a thing but not many people know about it and HEAVY quirk discrimination :( sry but it’s necessary
Quirks can be developed from stressed induced situations in quirkless. It’s not quite uncommon, But almost no one ends up surviving.
Latent quirks tend to have few and minor drawbacks, however they also tend to be extremely powerful and uncontrolled.
Because of the later awakening and typically life-or-death situation, the quirks explode as they awaken, often killing the user and every1 in the area.
Enter Izuku! [Lol said that out loud like to Pokemon journey’s episode] anyways~
Izuku gets his leg or ankle injured, stabbed, sprained, fractured, ect… by bullies
On his way home.sketchy part of town btw. he gets dragged into an alley way and beaten by extremists who are trying to kill him since they know of the read shows and hate all quirkless or smt.
He’s barely hanging onto life, Then his quirk awakens. BOOM! Fire! Boodies and trash fly against the walls BURSTING into flame
🔥\(^-^)/🔥
Screams drag out as the corpses burn to ashes and the trash bins and boxes in the alley whirl around while magenta (or more accurately the lilac to light pink) flames burn everything in the vicinity.
Izukus drawbacks
the longer he uses his quirk or the more total weight, the worse his headache, not badly, just minor w/ average use of quirk.
His telekinesis is a form of pure energy, and with practice he’s able to control the movement and temperature of the raw energy, hence why he’s able to make it catch fire.
The hot energy causes his body to heat up more, not badly, low flames still have his body at average temperature, and he has a heat fact.
Using his quirk to the absolute max gives him a migraine and fever cause he doesn’t deserve any more pain!!! And the max is probably like? 25k tons???
Back to the story line~
Connected buildings start to catch fire, everything flammable in the alleyway is burnt to a crisp, except for izuku…
He runs home, clothes slightly charged and smoking, sirens blaring in the distance
Once home(his mom isn’t there yet) he slams his door closed and gets ready to take a shower while throwing his stuff on the floor, thoughts racing through his head
As he stands under the water, the realization of what happened starts to come in, in an attempt to confirm, he try’s to move the bottle of shampoo, which ends up harshly flinging into the wall
After the shower he gets his pjs on and passes the f out, soon his mom arrives home and starts dinner
While eating, the news starts talking about the “villain attack” that happened in down town, at least lightly burning all the buildings on the road, and completely burning the buildings next to the alley way, few deaths(including the extremists) and several injuries, much property damage.
No one knows how the fire started, but people are on the look out for the “villain”.
Izuku realizes there that he can’t yet mention anything yet to his mother, she would figure it out all too quickly… and he needs to get his quirk under control so he doesn’t kill anyone else w/ his quirk.
he finishes dinner and closes his door and just BREAKS down. Trying to fix his charred uniform, as the screams play through his head, he doesn’t feel sad necessarily, but the felling of the pure anger and fear makes it to where he’s terrified of what may happen
He’s known the statistics, he knows how lucky he is that he didn’t die aswell.
The next day he brings an extra pair of clothes and an empty notebook w/ him to the beach, where he changes and starts experimenting w/ his quirk.
He try’s to use his power to move some of the items, he’s able to move some lighter items, tho sloppily…
He wonders why he isn’t able to use fire, which is what he originally thought his quirk was.
as the week goes by he discovers he’s able to control the temperature of the psychic energy he’s using, although difficult to control
He learns that the temperature takes a lot of focus on his emotions, and the movement takes much do as with his brain
Just moving 2 objects in different directions is near impossible, and that’s while using his arms as sort of a guide.
With practice, he eventually becomes able to move them separately without the guides, and w/ more objects, and in more directions.
Eventually he can decrease and increase the temperature of the energy, eventually he can do different temperatures at the same time.
He works endlessly w/ out anyone finding out about his quirk, they can’t know yet, if it’s used nearbye someone he could hurt them.
He practices and practices, while also physically filling out. trying to organize the objects physically was a lot easier in the beginning when he had little control, and he ended up keeping the habit.
Soon the beach is mostly clear and organized, after just starting his last year of middle school.
He doesn’t stop though, he has to be perfect. He still wants to be a hero. he knows it unrealistic, but he needs a way to make up for the lives he took. A way to balance out his actions with his accursed quirk.
An entire notebook full of his very professional analysis on his quirk later, and he masters as much with his quirk as possible. He knows every inch of his quirk. He knows that theoretically, he has as much quirk mastery as most veterans, but he still doesn’t think it’s enough.
With a year until he’d try for UA, he starts watching combat lessons on YouTube (no gym or dojo would take a quirkless person after all) and continuously practices fighting, trying to learn how to perfect each move w/ out a chance of hurting someone.
He knows he can’t always face an enemy with his limits he’s putting on his quirk. He’s worried if he uses it to its max against a person, he’ll lose control. He knows he won’t, but he’d rather not see for himself.
Over a year of cleaning the beach so far has helped him fill out nicely, and the practice w/ multitasking makes it easy to follow the videos instructions.
A year into it, and he has a decent practice of close contact. He knows how to fight without injuring himself, how to safely subdue an opponent. He’s learned as much as he can safely.
With 2 months until the entrance exam, he decides that it’s time.
As he heads home, he prepares himself. Putting on some comfortable and clean clothes, sitting at his desk. He breaths slowly, readying himself.
He decides to pull his notebook towards him, purposefully having it hit the wall. He shouts in surprise, his mother running in worryingly. He shouts about how he has a quirk, and pulls with his arms as he sloppily attempts to bring his notebook to him, having it smack into his chest.
His mother is ecstatic, and immediately calls the quirk doctor.
At the appointment the next morning, he demonstrates a low amount of control as he moves an object around the room, using his hand to guide it.
He names the quirk telekinesis, with a summary of what he let them believe he could do.
He uses the next 2 months to stay in shape and devise a plan for the UA entrance exams. Soon they arrive.
The written test was easy, and the practical exam soon commences. He uses his “small telekinetic quirk” to pull small scraps of metal from the robot or bricks, and uses them to separate the robots heads.
He helps pull a few examines out of the way of the robot’s, and moves the rock off of Ururakas foot.
Soon the letters arrive, 23 villain points and 42 rescue points, at total of 75. He got Third(3rd) place.
He’s assigned to class 1A.
(absolutely replacing M*neta with Shinsou)
