Chapter 1: Trailer
Chapter Text
A woman in a helmet ran into into a junkyard, hovering through jets that were on her feet. She looked around as she scanned for other life forms before she suddenly whirled around to see a man with a metal arm.
“Ummm, you looking for something?” He asked as she aimed her hand at him, which transformed into a gun as she focused on him.
The white haired girl put on her helmet, which covered her entire face with black glass. Only for the lights to glow blue in different shapes. She was in her bedroom before the screen on the wall in front of her bedroom lit up.
“Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1.” A man on the screen in front of her with a metal ship wheel floating around him. He also had one red mechanical eye, the other covered with an eye patch. “Your job is to locate the following species. It was last scene at the following coordinates. Locate it without civillian interference.” The lights formed a checkmark before the call cut out.
This is my chance. She thought before she headed out.
Witness the story…
“So what are you doing here?” The guy with a rusted robot arm and twitchy metal eye asked the technologically superior lady.
“Classified.”
“Can you tell me?”
“Negative.”
“What’s your name?” The helmet on the girl lit up with lights in a X formation.
“Classified.”
…Of love…
The two ran throughout the junkyard as soldiers fired at them haphazardly. “These guys have terrible aim! Are they with you?!” The male asked as he ducked behind a wrecked car.
“Silence!” The woman said as her helmet lits glowed in the shape of a speaker on mute.
…And…
The woman screamed as she fired her arm blaster at the man with the wheel, who was riddled with plasma blasts.
...cyborgs.
“Nobody rests until those two are spare parts in the furnace!” The man with the wheel yelled as his eye glowed red, the wheel spinning incredibly fast.
When Wally met Eve
The two cyborgs sat in cave of scraps, a shelter formed by the many cars and junk in the junkyard. “...I’m Wally.” He said as he reached out his one human arm.
The woman took her helmet off, revealing her white hair and blue eyes. She shook his human hand with her own flesh hand. “Eve.”

Chapter Text
The year? 2720.
Current population? A summation of the planet Earth and the various interplanetary colonies which goes to about 50 billion.
Where this story takes place? Fortunately this story takes place on Earth for simplicities sake.
The city of Newarkensdale was very technologically advanced, though not in comparison to the rest of the planetary areas. In comparison to how it was centuries ago though?
Light years.
The city was filled with buildings and people going about their day. And above that city stood an incredibly tall and shiny tower. One of those rooms had a full scale one way window that opened to let the sun light in. There was a white haired woman with blue eyes in the bed who yawned as she sat up, the blanket falling off to reveal her body.
Her legs didn’t extend past her knees. And her left arm was cut off at her shoulder. She used her one arm to grab a black helmet, which she placed on her head. Blue lights lit up in a synchronized pattern.
“Limb enhancers activate.” She said as cabinet opened from her room, sleek white mechanical parts flying out. They connected on her knees and shoulders to form fully functional limbs. She twitched her metal fingers as the lights on her helmet formed a shape of an 8 bit sunrise. “Morning.”
As humans evolved they needed to make modifications to their bodies to keep up with the exploration of different worlds. As it happened, it was found that the cybernetic workers were incredibly valued, especially amongst commonplace workers. She slid on her white clothes, pants that covered her human thighs, and a shirt that had the initials of Automotive Industries on the front.
The white haired woman put on her helmet, which covered her entire face with black glass. Only for the lights to glow blue in different shapes. She then turned her head to the screen on the wall in front of her bedroom as it lit up.
“Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1.” A man on the screen in front of her with a metal ship wheel floating around him. He also had one red mechanical eye, the other covered with an eye patch.
Let’s see if I guess it. I believe I bet that he was going to get me to compile data one of the workers had gotten? Or was it to make sure that the supplies in the tower were stocked?
“Your job is to locate the following species. It was last seen at the following coordinates. Locate it without civilian interference and eliminate it.” The lights on the helmet formed a question mark before the call was cut out.
She waited a few seconds, wanting to know if it was a joke or not before she got the details sent to her helmet, seeing them on the visor. She then cheered excitedly as she jumped out happily. “YESYESYES!!!!” Firework images went off on her helmet, showing her excitement.
Eventually, she calmed down and relaxed her body. Then she stood at attention. This is my chance. She thought before she headed out of her room. As she walked, she grabbed a pack of pills labeled ‘Automotive Innovations: Food Tgo.’ from another compartment in the walls that opened up. She read what type it was as she put it in a glass of water. “Eggs and Bacon, nice.” She said as her helmet visor slid up to expose her mouth as she drank it.
The visor then closed as three M’s appeared on the visor. “Mmm.”
When Wally Met Eve
Automotive Industries had been one of the most influential organizations in the past three centuries. Passed down from father to son, it had made headways in pioneering technology, medicine, agriculture, making sure everyone who needed them got cybernetic enhancements.
Without them, humanity would have likely grown too fast for everyone to survive. The woman walked throughout the streets, following the map on her visor.
The species was categorized as Blattodea, but was commonly known as a cockroach. However, what made this special was that it had a rare evolutionary trait that made its body incredibly hot, and destructive.
This thing is very dangerous. The woman thought as she read the file. It’s imperative I eliminate its very life as soon as I see it. Sir Auto the Tenth is most gracious in letting me deal with this. The helmet lights formed a checkmark to show she was pleased.
Ever since she was a young girl, she had wanted a chance to prove that she was worthy enough to work alongside actual workers of Automotive Innovations. Instead she had been doing desk work, getting people their coffee pills, printing out their work, refilling ink.
She couldn’t remember the last time she had left the tower.
It’s weird, my body’s still getting used to being at such a low elevation. I should have taken some decompressors but I was in such a rush. Nineteen years of her life, spent working inside the tallest tower on Earth. She hadn’t even gotten to see the Apex generator that was RIGHT NEXT to the tower.
It was the best generator amongst all the interplanetary colonies. Or it would be once it finally got up and running. It would be able to broadcast energy throughout all the planets connected by homo sapiens.
She wanted to go and see it, but it was off limits. Very top security. It was all she could do to get that information.
And really she had just overhead it while she was taking out the trash of every disposal unit in the tower.
Even though they had automated units for that. She thought as an X flashed on her face. She grumbled in her head as she looked at the bakery. In any case, it was apparently spotted around here.
She entered the bakery and looked around. It was probably drawn to this place by the pastries. “Oh hey there.” She paused as she looked around to see a woman at the counter. “We don’t get much in the way of high class workers here. What brings you to John and Marys bakery?”
“...I am looking for a species classified as a Blattodea. I believe it may have been drawn to your place as a result of your baked goods. Are you able to assist me with this?” Mary raised her eyebrow, having been confused by the almost mechanical way the girl spoke. Plus the helmet gave her voice a digital filter.
“Ummm…” She said before the woman with the robotic feet noticed the species crawling out side, her vision zooming in on it and detecting the roach when most would not have noticed. She shot out of the bakery, leaving Mary to look after her awkwardly. “Huh…”
This thing is fast. She thought as the roach was able to run away from her. I haven’t had much speed training. The woman in a helmet followed the insect into a junkyard, losing track of it as she tripped on a piece of metal. An exclamation mark flashed on her helmet as she laid on the ground. She slowly got up before she looked around as she scanned for the life form. Great, it’s going to be nigh impossible for me to locate him in all of this junk… She suddenly whirled around to see a man with a metal arm.
He was wearing overalls and had goggles, along with brown hair. He also didn’t seem to have any form of a beard. He was covered in spots of dirt, but what drew her attention was the metal arm.
It was rusty, and only offered three clunky fingers. Must be an old model. She thought as she concentrated on him.
“Ummm, you looking for something?” He asked, even though she didn’t talk back, remembering that Auto the Tenth ordered her to not involve any civilians. She walked past him and started looking around the junkyard, seeing tons of metal wrecks everywhere. Cans, garbage, waste. How annoying.
The guy removed the goggled to reveal that one of his eyes was robotic, and currently twitchy. “So what are you doing here?” The guy with a rusted robot arm asked the technologically superior lady.
“Classified.”
“Can you tell me why it’s classified?”
“Negative.”
“What’s your name?” The helmet on the girl lit up with lights in a X formation as she turned around and glared at him, the glare pairing up with the X.
“...Classified.”
The guy raised his arms as the woman turned away and started searching through the towers of junk. I’ve never seen this place from the tower, it must be facing away. Fortunate for me at least. She thought.
“Ummm…” She frowned under her mask. “You might wanna-”
She clenched her metal fist. “I will kindly ask you to please silence your vocal abilities so I can do what I came here to do.” She said as she continued walking.
“...You're walking through mud.” The guy spoke, causing the woman to freeze and look down. Her feet were metal, meaning she didn’t feel her custom made implants getting dirty.
“...” She resisted every urge to start screaming in fury and rage as she slowly turned around. She couldn’t go back to the tower without the sample, and it wouldn’t do well continue in this state. Her helmet showed three dots, moving up and down in a sequential fashion before she spoke. “...Do you have any ability to vacate the germs from my enhancers?”
“...Do you mean clean you up?” He asked hesitantly, getting his answer as a checkmark flashed on her helmet. “I mean… sure?” The screen went blank as she gestured for him to lead her. He hopped to it, not wanting to keep her waiting.
“So if you can’t tell me anything… I’ll tell you something!” He said happily as the woman groaned in her head. “This is my junkyard! I take old things and break them down, but really I wanna be a repairman, so whenever I find something I try and fix it up the best I can!”
My helmet has to have a mute function. She thought as she tried to drown him out. As she tried to pull up an informative video to watch on her helmet, she realized it wasn’t working. “Why can I not pull up any videos?”
“Oh, that would be the signal blocker thanks to all the metal surrounding this place. Combined with all the mechanics I use, nothing with a wifi signal works.” He said sheepishly as she clenched her teeth in anger. “...Sorry…”
She held her anger in as she arrived a station in the middle of the junkyard. The man click a button, causing the door to fold upwards. What the? I’ve heard of this before… It’s opening like a… garage? She wasn’t sure if that was what it was called, but she had heard of it once before.
The inside of the station seemed to have a single room, filled with all sorts of knick knacks she had never seen before. It was weird, none of them seemed to serve a purpose, why did he have them?
“Brace yourself.” He said as he held up a weird device. She tilted her head before he clicked something and it shot water at her feet. An exclamation mark appeared on her helmet as water sprayed on her metal limbs. “There we go, you should be good to… do whatever you were doing?” He asked, only to see her looking at the water in shock.
“...Have you not seen water before?” He asked, noticing her reaction to it. The woman clenched her metal fist.
“I have seen water before. I just have not been cleaned by it.” The boy raised his eyebrow. “...I clean using sanitation chambers like everyone else.”
“Oh! Guess I just prefer showering.” The woman had heard that term beforehand. It was method used before the human race had advanced. It was a lengthy process that involved pouring water all over the body. It was incredibly wasteful, she couldn’t believe people still did it.
“...Thank you for your assistance.” She said as she went to leave, only to notice how late it was getting. Or rather, her implants low charge. Usually she would just be able to recharge by taking advantage of the signals, but this blasted junkyard was interfering. “...Do you have anything that could charge my implants before I head out?” She asked, much to her own annoyance.
The man was fiddling with some sort of multicolored cube, his three mechanical digits moving the sides around rapidly. “Oh yeah! I got something that could charge you right up! Hold on!” He said as he went outside and rummaged around before pulling something out. “This is what I use whenever I need to charge my parts!” It was a rectangular cube device with cables connected to it, plus some sort of black screen.
“It is a… charging station?” She asked as she looked at it with a question mark.
“Yeah! Only it’s a battery that’s filled up using solar energy, I just need to…” He fiddled with his arm before it went limp, along with his eye powering down. He then lifted up one of the cables and carried it towards her. “Just let me connect them… somehow…”
The woman sat down on a blanket that was splayed out, followed by her pulling out a briefcase with her flesh hand and pressed a button that called her mechanical limbs into the briefcase , which then closed. “You should be able to plug the cables into the briefcase and charge it that way.”
He smiled as he connected the cables and pressed a button on the machine. As it happened, he looked at her now one limbed body as she sat down on the blanket. “Hey, you want another blanket?” He asked, holding one up for her.
She looked at him, proceeding to lift her helmet up, only to stop and keep it on her face. “...I accept it most graciously.” She said as she leaned back.
“...Your welcome?” He said as he pulled out a quilt of his own and closed the garage door, tucking himself in across from the woman. “...I’m Wally.”
“...Eve.” She said before they both went off to slumber.

Chapter Text
Eve yawned as she woke, looking around before she slid on her helmet as an instinct. She processed where her location was (Mentally, as the junkyard blocked any signal). Right, I needed to find that Blattodea and ended up sleeping her in this station. She thought as she checked the charge on her implants.
Wow, they’re fully done up. Wally made a good solar charger for a junkyard worker. She then called her implants, which flew over to her body and connected as she got up, stretching her flesh parts. I should try and find that Blattodea now, before- Her thoughts were cut off as the garage door opened.
Wally walked in as he rolled his arm. “Morning Eve, you sleep well?” Eve looked back at him, the light glistening on her helmet. “I didn’t wanna wake you up so I tried to remain silent.”
…Wait, he would have had to have opened that door to get out. Eve frowned under helmet. Did I sleep through that?! She clenched her teeth before she got up, standing on her metal legs. I’m usually alert, though I’ve never slept in something like this before.
She looked down at the mat. It was simple and ordinary, completely different from the advanced bed she always slept in. A hunger in her stomach drew from her thoughts, the cyborg looking at the less advanced of the two of them. “I request nutrition, do you know where I could procure it?”
When Wally Met Eve
Wally paused in response to the womans speech for a bit. “...Oh, I’m about to finish making some breakfast! Don’t worry, I made some for you as well.”
…Made? She walked out slowly, following Wally as he headed to a device that emitted heat. This device… it’s called a grill I believe. I passed a pastry shop on the way here but is he actively making his own food instead of buying nutrition pills?
Eve was so caught up in her thoughts she hadn’t realized Wally offering her a plate until it was right in front of her, the smells entering her nose and filling her with a sense of… greater hunger. She looked down at it to see… eggs and bacon.
I’ve never seen them in person without them being in pill form. She picked the plate as she looked at the utensils that came with it, sitting down awkwardly next to Wally as he started eating.
She looked down at the utensils before she started mimicking his actions. Having grown up not often leaving the building, she only ever ate by using pills… at least after…
Eve shook her head as her helmet slid up to reveal her mouth, but only her mouth. She neared the food to her mouth so could digest it. Only for her mouth to explode in taste and heat as she swallowed the food. Her helmet gained an exclamation mark as she started blowing on the food to cool it off.
After a solid minute she started consuming the delicious food, swallowing it rapidly as she wanted to eat it all as soon as possible. Wally watched her in shock as she swallowed hungrily. “Um… when was the last time you ate?”
Eve kept on eating until the plate had been cleaned. “...I’ve eaten plenty, but usually I use the more convenient form of nutrition pills.” She was looking at the plate, seeing the crumbs. “But I wasn’t expecting the flavor and texture.”
Wally nervously watched her stare at the plate. “Yeah… guess it would be a bit different from eating the actual thing.” I didn’t think she would react that radically to actual food, or that she wouldn’t be used to regular food. He couldn’t imagine eating food with a pill… but that was probably because he didn’t understand the science behind it. “...If you’re still hungry you can eat the crumbs.”
How awkward voice was cut off by her hungrily licking the plate clean. “This is most delectable!”
“It’s just regular cooked food.”
“I request to eat in silence!” She yelled as Wally froze and held up both his limbs and surrendered. She finished the food all too quickly and looked around before Wally offered his own plate to her, a shaky grin on his face. “Much appreciated!”
As she ate the food more and more, Wally noticed the Rubiks cube next to her and waited till she was finished. “...I thank you for providing me with sustenance.”
“...You’re welcome.” He then started talking about the cube. “You interested in that?”
“I’m merely interested in the meager challenge this provides…” She said as she picked it up and started working on it again. “...Which will be done in a matter of moments…” Wally tapped his foot as he watched the cyborg continuously cycle through the cube.
Minutes would pass, but alas Eve would be unable to solve the cube. “...I just need to try a few more combinations…” Wallys robotic eye twitched, not of annoyance but out of remembering something.
“...Didn’t you come on a classified mission?”
Eve froze as he reminded her of the mission she was given before she placed the cube down gently. “...You make a substantial point. I will be leaving now, I am grateful for your assistance.” Wally looked at her while the woman fastened her helmet, covering her face completely before she walked away.
“Oh… bye…” He said as he waved goodbye to the woman who had stayed the night at his place. Well, fun as it was having a guest I need to get back to work.
He stood up as he started going around the junkyard, heading from his living area back to the work area. There was a lot of trash to sort through and incinerate. Truthfully he could save time by just torching all of it, but he needed to see if there was anything salvageable.
He set his gloves on and went to the crane. It could loom over the entirety of the junkyard, amking it perfect for this step of the day. He used the crane to place trash into a completely different section.
There was a section he could place trash into where it would be connected to a conveyor belt that led to an incinerator called the storing area.
It took some time but eventually the area reached it’s max capacity for trash. He then started climbing down from the crane and headed towards the sorting area. The trash that he placed thanks to the crane started moving thanks to the conveyor belt as he activated it. Thanks to his numbness to scent, he didn’t need to worry about the stench.
Once a substantial amount was moved from the storing area, he deactivated the conveyor belt so he could sort through everything. Once that was done, he moved the rejects into the flames where they were all permanently trashed. Afterwards he laid out another set of junkyard trash and repeated the process.
As much time as it took, he found it all worth it.
Even though it took him all day to get through the single load he had made with the crane.
As he started sifting through the trash, he heard some clanging noises. “This is a very… old structure.” He paused as he turned to see Eve walking in. Her metal feet were echoing thanks to the rusty structure.
“...Eve? What are you doing here?” He asked as he removed his goggles to look at her while she moved her head around, showing she was observing the structure. Her helmet obscuring her face as always meant he needed to figure out what she was feeling based on her words.
“I was…”
Eve ran after the Blattodea as she tried to kill it, stomping down on it and missing. The concrete remained undamaged as she tried to figure out how to capture it. This is so fast, how evolution can alter the smallest of organisms is truly astounding. She thought, admiring the creature as much as she wanted it dead.
Eventually, she moved forward and reached out her metal hand to crush the creature. My hand is heat resistant so it’ll be able to withstand the temperatures this creature can emit. Her plan was full proof.
If not for the fact that it dodged to the side at the last second, leaving her to roll on the sidewalk as she yelped in pain. She grumbled, looking up to realize it had dove back into the junkyard.
“...I am currently occupying this junkyard now.”
She may have been the slightest bit, tiniest fraction…
Embarrassed.
“Oh… wanna help me sift through trash?” Wally asked casually like he was asking someone for coffee. Eves helmet gained a question mark before she walked forward. She noticed some gloves and put them on. Unfortunately one of them was a size too big… and lacked some fingers.
“Sorry, one of them is made for, you know.” He said as he twitched his three fingered metal hand. “I’m always going through them so I just buy them in bulk. Plus no one else works here.” His tone got a bit sad before he shook his head. “Anyway, leave the trash, pick anything you think can be salvaged.”
A checkmark appeared on her helmet as she watched Wally, recording his moments before she mimicked them. “...It seems inefficient that you be the only person to work here.”
“Not many people want to work here when they can just have robots do it. It would be all automated but my family owned it, and I make good on the payments so…”
“Maybe you should enlist your family to assist you with this endeavor.”
“....” The silence she received made it obvious to Eve why that was not an option. She didn’t want to press the topic anymore so she just focused on sorting through the rubbish. It was…silent and awkward. She was used to silence, but given someone was right next to her it felt weird.
“...What is this?” She held up a glass object, her helmet being unable to identify what it was thanks to a lack of internet connection.
“That? That’s a lightbulb.” Wally said as he grinned and took it from her. “Wow! It’s in such good condition! Must have been thrown away by accident.”
“A… light bulb?” The term sounded familiar to her, but the exact process and meaning behind it escaped her.
“Oh, it’s used to light up spaces by connecting them to electricity.” Wally said, not even looking back at her.
The tower doesn’t use things like that. Must be something from the older days. Eve assumed as Wally kept geeking out over finding the light bulb in such a good state.
“I think I saw Jon buying a bunch just like this.” Eve blushed under her mask as she realized that she had grown up quite sheltered. She hadn’t even left the tower that often. “Hey, we’re practically almost done with the work day, I think I can hook this up.” He headed off, leaving Eve to recover before she followed him.
Once they were at the living quarters, Wally started hooking up the wires to the lightbulb. Eve watched, making note of his actions. As he connected the last one, the object started glowing. She removed her helmet so she could look at it, her eyes showing her amazement.
“This is… very nice to look at.” She looked at Wally as he hung the lightbulb up near the ceiling, climbing up the shelves so that the entire living area could be lit. “It’s different from how things are lit in the tower… more… warming…”
“Yeah, it uses metal to channel the electricity, thus it emits heat. It’s pretty intricate.” Wally said as he looked at her limbs. “You know… Whatever you need help with, I think you could do with an upgrade.”
“...An upgrade?” Eve asked, holding up her metal hand. “This is state of the art technology. The best of the best.”
“Is that why you haven’t been able to complete your mission?” Wally asked with a smirk as Eve turned away.
“...I suppose it would be interesting to see what you could do to alter this technology.” Wally grinned before Eve noticed the Rubik's cube. Only it was completed. “What did you do to alter the cube?”
“Oh that? I just shuffled it a bit, nothing major.”
“...You lie. I worked on it for a substantial amount of time.”
“No, I just shuffled the sides around.”
Eve changed her tactic to try and regain her dignity. “As the owner of the cube, you have had a larger amount of time with it than me. Thus your chances of solving it are higher in comparison to mine.”
Actually I found that the day she arrived. Wally thought, but ultimately withheld the information in order to not further shame Eve. “Yeah, I’ve had that for years.” Eve gained a small smile before her stomach grumbled.
Wally looked at her as Eve blushed, not saying a word out of embarrassment. “...Would you like me to cook more for you?”
“...If you insist.”

Chapter Text
“…I feel the need to request elaboration about the purpose of this.” Eve said as she laid on the floor of Wally’s living area. She was on her back like a turtle as Wally inspected her three mechanical limbs, her helmet laying off to the side as she used her one human arm to eat more of Wally’s cooking.
“Well you said you were having trouble with your mission, I’m just trying to look at your limbs and see exactly what you’re working with.” Wally replied as he inspected her robotic arm and legs. “I’ve never seen such advanced technology before.”
… When was the last time he vacated the junkyard? Eve thought as she looked upwards before she shook her head. Automotive Industries is the leading advanced technology force. It perfectly logically sound that not everyone has seen technology like my limbs.
Wally continued working through her limbs before he frowned. “Hey, there seems to be a sort of master control function. You know anything about that?” Eve blinked as she had never heard of something like that before. “Oh umm, it means that somewhere out there someone has a remote that controls these limbs.”
Confusion was the first thing she felt.
Why would there be something like that in her limbs? She was completely loyal to the company! She had quite literally never done anything that wasn’t for Automotive Industries!
As she processed why there was something like that in the things that allowed to move, Wally kept on working. “I could turn it off if you liked.”
Eves response was instant. “Yes I would very much like that.” She could think about it later, the stress of something like this would be sure to interfere with her mission.
And that was NOT an option.
“Alright, I just need to alter a few chips… I should have everything I need.”
Eve frowned at the hesitance. “What do you mean by the term ‘should’?” She asked cautiously as he rifled through a box. “These limbs are the only reason I am able to move around like a regular Homo Sapien, if anything decreases their capabilities I will be in a very unenviable situation since this is my first mission.”
Wally’s robotic eye twitched, causing Eve to frown. “Is there an error occurring with your eye?”
“Hm? Oh yeah. I was born missing an eye and an arm, so it was a rush job to get them. I’ve always had glitches, even though they kept replacing them as I grew up.” Eves frown continued as she listened.
Why doesn’t he get an upgrade? Is that not an option for him or something? I thought cybernetics were readily available to the common place.
Was her information wrong? How much did she actually know about the world?
“Okay, just replace the software… and there we go.” Wally said as he backed away. “Okay, the software I used should allow your limbs to work as normal without them being able to be controlled by anyone else.”
Eve slowly stood up. Her limbs seemed just as fine as ever, nothing seemed different from usual. At the very least she could do her job properly. “This is satisfactory, much gratitude to you.”
“Yeah, tell me anything comes up because the software I used was from-” Wally was cut off by his own arm punching his jaw. “...Ow…” He turned away before he sheepishly pressed a button, causing the metal arm to fall off. “...Forgot to do repairs on that…”
Eve looked outside and saw it was getting dark. “...I can assist you with repairs if you wish.” I don’t want him to lose sleep because he was busy working on my limbs… even though I didn't really get an upgrade. Her thoughts became bitter, while Wally placed the arm on a table.
“Oh? That would be great!” He smiled at her while he turned to get the tools he needed. “Don’t worry I can walk you through it.”
“Given my own advanced technologies, I can assume I’ll be quite effective even without your help.” Eve said as she smiled boastfully.
One minute later…
“…So I just move this wire here?”
“Yep, just like that. You’re going great.”
Turns out wiring hadn’t been her area of expertise.
It took a while, but eventually Wally was able to fix his arm by walking Eve through every step of the entire process.
Plus the times when he did the work for her.
“You are quite the skilled technician.”
She had thought she had a passable understanding for machinery, given how long she had worked with Automotive Industries. Turns out that was a faulty assessment of her capabilities.
She believed in layman’s terms that meant she sucked.
Wally needed to carefully explain everything single detail, and when she STILL couldn’t complete the task he used his one arm to do it himself! Forget her helping, she caused it to take longer than had he just done it himself.
Needless to say her embarrassment when he finally got the arm fixed and attached it was at an all time high. The humiliation and bashfulness that plagued her was indescribable except for the fact she knew it was unbearable.
She needed to get the attention off of her somehow, and quick. “Umm…I have become famished again!”
Fortunately Wally didn’t notice her masterful attempts at changing the subject.
(He did, but he wasn’t going to humiliate her.)
“Oh? Sure I can make something again… or… have you ever had pastries before?” He asked with a smile.
“…I cannot say I have ever consumed them. Why do you ask?”
“Well…”
“Tada!” Wally said as he showed her a pastry shop. “You’re gonna love this place. Sells amazing food.”
“Jon and Marys Bakery, I visited this place beforehand… on a previous mission.” She didn’t want to tall him that she had failed to catch the Blattodea.
I thought she said this was her first mission? …Actually, I better not bring it up. She might get embarrassed again. “Well you’re gonna love this, like I just said.” He pushed open the door to hold it for her so she could walk in.
Eve looked at her companion, never having seen something like this. “...Thank you.” She said before she walked in, being greeted by an overwhelming smell. She paused as she took it in. It was incredible… why had she not smelled this beforehand?
She moved her hand to check if something was wrong with her nose, only for her to remember her helmet.
I left it back at the junkyard...
“Oh hey! I remember you.” She looked at Mary who was working at the counter. “You look a bit different without the helmet, but the clothes are the same.”
“Yes I… am here to request some of your confectionaries. I have currency to purchase this.” She said as she looked at Wally, who gave her a thumbs up.
“Uh…” Mary looked at Wally, who motioned for her to just go with it. “Okay! Just tell me what you would like and I can get it ready for you.”
“...” Now that she thought about it, what DID she want to eat? She had never really had pastries before. Any food she ate was purely for nutrition so she didn’t really… have any knowledge on anything in this field.
“...Would you like a sample?” She thought about it before she nodded. A sample would be helpful in helping her decide what she would help herself to. “Alright.”
Eve watched as Mary reached into a container and pulled out a slice of cake, a pretty small one. It probably could only fill up a rodent. She placed it on the counter, where Eve reached out her hand to grab it. She picked it up and opened her mouth before consuming a single bite.
The sheer sweetness was enough to make her gasp, but that wasn’t all. Even moreso, the texture somehow amplified it further. The fluffiness, yet solidness was something she hadn’t encountered before.
“...Everything.”
“...I’m sorry, excuse me?” Mary asked, not knowing what she meant. Wally on the other hand backed up as he realized what was going to happen.
“I want one of everything. ”
“So… it took us multiple trips and a wagon, but we finally have all of the stuff here.” Wally said as he looked at all the confectionaries. It had taken a while, but they got all of the stuff Eve had brought. Especially since she had bought one of everything the bakery had. “How do you wanna start?”
Eve looked at all of the food she purchased, eager to try the food before she paused. “...I am unsure… could you assist me with deciding?”
Wally smiled before he nodded. “Sure! Hey let’s turn on some television so we can eat and watch it!” Eve raised her eyebrow as Wally turned on a tv and something started playing.
It was a black and white piece of cinema. She had never been one for movies, but she knew this was something from many centuries. It appeared to be two people moving together while on a street. “...What are these two doing?”
“Huh? Oh they’re dancing.” Eve blinked as she looked at Wally. “...Do you not know what dancing is?”
“No! …But could you show me just so I know that you know?” Eve said as she didn’t want Wally to know that she didn’t know what dancing was. Especially since it may have been common knowledge.
(Unknown to her, it WAS common knowledge.)
“Oh! For sure.” Wally paused the film and turned over to another device. Eve wasn’t sure what it was, but once he pressed it music started playing from the object. “This device can play any song you want.”
The music was similar to what had been playing on the television. “Okay, just follow my movements.” He grabbed her flesh hand with his own and started gently gliding across the station.
Eve held his robotic hand with her human hand, feeling the clunky thickness of the three robotic fingers. It was weird, it should have been uncomfortable but to her the rusty metal was quite gentle.
“And we move like this.” He said gently as he danced with her, leading her movements as she tried to follow him. It was nice honestly, she didn’t need to worry about being the best at something.
She should compliment him for helping her learn how to dance.
“You have very sufficient knowledge about this.”
Wally smiled as he took her compliment, slowly spinning her around. Dancing in the sweets was incredibly fun for both of them. The aroma, the music, the ambience.
All good things had to end though. The music could only last so long. Eves stomach growled again, a blush appearing on her face as Wally sweat dropped.
“…Wanna eat now?”
“I would like that very much.”

Chapter Text
Eve had never really been all that interested in food. It was just something to help her keep going. If you were hungry you ate. Simple as that.
That all changed now.
This food was DELICIOUS!!!!
Each new pastry was as refreshing as the last. Each one gave her a new reason to live. Each one exploded in her mouth with a dazzling amount of flavor. It was insane. It was illogical.
She never knew how blissful this could be. “You really like this don’t you?” She looked over to Wally, leaving crumbs on her face thanks to how ravenously she was eating.
“...Yes…I request more.” She yearned for more of these pastries and confectionaries.
“Yeah see there’s just one problem with that.” Wally pointed to all of the empty boxes. “You’ve already eaten everything here.” Eve looked around as a blush started growing on her face. “..Oh, you got some crumbs on your face.”
The blush grew more at that thought. Her? She wasn’t some slob. That was impossible! Wally cleaned her mouth before this could go on any longer and she could embarrass herself more. “Thank you for your assistance.”
It was only then she really understood that Wally just cleaned her mouth and blushed madly. She shoved her helmet on as Wally looked up and noticed something. “Well hello.” Eve watched as Wally went to a shelf and placed some of his food there.
Eve walked forward to check it out an- “The Blattodea?”
“...You mean Roachy?” He said as they both watched the creature Eve had been searching for at the piece of food and scattered about, chirping like a hyperactive animal. “...Weird name to call him but okay…”
“...His body temperature seems… normal, for his species.” Eve said slowly as she tried to figure out what was going on. Her mission had been to capture this thing because its body temperuatre was hot enough to cause havoc… but it seemed friendly and calm.
“...Yeah, why wouldn’t it be?” Wally as the B- Roachy, crawled along his metal arm and up to his shoulder. Eve could safely say she didn’t like bugs. She could easily say she didn’t like bugs. She could say in the middle of a storm that she didn’t like bugs.
She didn’t like bugs.
But to see Wally interact with Roachy so causally was intriguing. She could equate it to what she believed was a ‘pet’. She had heard of people having insects and spiders as pets, but this was her first time interacting with someone who had a roach as a pet.
It was interesting.
Hold on, why would Automotive Industries send me to capture this if it wasn’t a danger to anyone? This is not making any sense. Three dots on her helmet appeared like a text message about to be sent as she tried to figure things out.
She started cycling through her memories to connect… something . No…No… No… nothing, why is this making no sense… You know what? It doesn’t matter. She looked around and grabbed a jar. “Hey Wally?”
Wally turned around to watched Eve shove Roachy into the jar, before she tightened a lid on it and poked a small hole for air. Her helmet covered her face as Wally's was covered in shock. “Eve?!”
“Apologies,” She said as she turned around and walked away. “But I have my orders.”
When Wally Met Eve
“Eve! Hey stop!” Eve paid no attention to Wally as she walked deliberately. She thought of how she wanted to go on more missions, how she wanted to do something important, how she wanted to live her life.
All she needed to do was deliver Roachy and that would be the first step to success! First step of many… first step of alot.
“Eve!” An X appeared on her helmet as she looked at Wally and started speaking. “You can’t take Roachy!”
“Wally, I have to take my mission seriously! If I complete this I could go to other continents! Or maybe even leave the planet! I could actually have a life for once! I could start leaving the building for more than once in my life!”
“But-”
“I could actually have a life! One that’s more than just LIVING IN TRASH!!!” Her helmet amplified her voice as Wally froze while Eve pushed past him. “The world is bigger than just this junkyard, and as fun as this has been I have a life to live! Have fun being a Garbage Man, see you later.”
Eve walked out through the entrance, only to see a bunch of Automotive Industry robots there standing guard. “...Uhhh…” They were 7 foot tall white humanoid robots with screens on their chests.
“Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1.” Sir Auto appeared on the screen of one of the robots. “You have persisted on this mission for far too long, so you will have to surrender the mission to the following units. We can’t enter the junkyard thanks to the signal blocking so we’ll have to resort to more violent methods.”
“...Who is this guy?” Wallys question caused Eve to frown under her helmet.
“Just the boss of my organization.” She then focused on Auto. “I have completed the task, so let me just take the specimen back to the labs.”
The machines scanned Eve and caused Auto to lightly… smile? She had never seen him smile. “My apologies, please continue with your mission.”
A checkmark appeared on Eves helmet. “Yes sir…” She then looked at Wally and turned away. She could focus on him later. But… “I have observed Roachy, and he seems to have no temperature above what is normal to his species. Which makes”
“...You’re orders are to deliver this to us. You will compl…Did you just call him Roachy?” Eve started backing away as Auto focused his one uncovered eye on the cyborg woman.
“Yeah…” Eves helmet showed footprints that showed she was backing up as she held the jar protectively. “...I don’t think so.” One of the robots hands turned into a gun and fired at her, causing her to duck, only for the other robot to grab her.
She dropped the jar as Wally tried to help, only for him to end up grabbed as well.
“So this is how it is to be then. Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1.”
Eve had big plans in her life, plans to leave the tower, see the world, and serve Automotive Industries.
Now she was in a holding cell in the main building's basement. The entrance to the cell was a see through film of energy that was made to be impenetrable. Anything trying to get out would only be met with failure.
Which is why Eve shouldn’t have been surprised when her attempts to break out were unsuccessful. “You should give up, it hasn’t worked out at all.”
She frowned as she looked at Wally, who was sitting in the same cell as her. “It would be most helpful if you could assist me with this trial.”
“Oh, you want the help of the ‘Garbage Man’. How weird considering everything you just said.” Eve paused as she looked at Wally, who started twitching before he got control of it. “Roachy escaped so that means I have no urge to do anything.”
They had both been allowed to keep their cybernetic limbs, but Eve’s weapons wouldn’t do much here. She sighed and sat down next to Wally, who scooted away but bumped into the wall.
“...I’m still curious why they wanted Roachy. He’s just a roach.” Eve nodded and noticed how he didn’t continue to talk about the things she had said.
“Yes, it is quite weird… how long have you had him?” Eve might not have had her helmet anymore but at least she could still mask her emotions.
She couldn’t. Wally knew exactly what she was feeling. Which is why he saw guilt on her face when he responded to her. “A few months, why?”
A few…months…
“Hmmm, weird.” The Apex generator wasn’t up and running yet, and from what she had heard supplies had stopped being shipped to it a few months ago.
The Apex generator was a massive feat in that it would allow for free energy amongst all planets, but it wasn’t done yet.
There was no way that Roachy and the generator were connected. It was impossible. How would a roach be connected to the most advanced generator ever?
Suddenly, their cell dimmed as the area that allowed them to see into the hallway went dark, cutting them off from the outside world.
A glowing blue hologram of Sir Auto then appeared in front of them, Eve instinctively standing up to salute before she looked at him suspiciously. “I must say, when I sent you on this paltry mission I never would have expected you to become so… flawed.”
“You can’t hold us here!” Wally said in the absence of Eve speaking. She couldn’t believe the man she looked up to was now jailing her. “People are going t-”
“To what? Ask questions about a garbage man and an Asset who died in a car crash along with her parents?” Eve flinched and started responding on her own.
“I’m…I’m dead?”
If Sir Auto felt anything at the hollow yet heartbroken tone, he didn’t show it. “What can I say? It’s easier to make home grown soldiers when people think they’re dead. As far records show you died with your family, it’s easier for everyone this way.”
“I don’t like how that sounds.” Wally said hesitantly while he looked around at all the darkness. “...Why did you bring us here?”
“Well…” An opening appeared in the darkness, allowing mechanical arms to reach in and grab Wally. “We needed some new test subjects for our more invasive experiments. And you could use an upgrade.”
Eve widened her eyes and tried to fire at arms, only for them to take him before they could get hit. “Wally! I…I’m sorry…” She looked up at the darkness as she fell to her mechanical knees. “...I should have said it earlier but I’m sorry…”
She thought about the times she had and how much fun they had. “...I should have done a lot more with you.” Thanks to the signal blocking at the junkyard, she couldn’t receive any calls.
And she didn’t mind.
She ate food, she listened to music, she talked to people…
And she had traded it for a cell.
She stood up and looked around with determination on her face. “I must get out of this cell and make things up to Wally. But how…” Weapons didn’t work… and that was all she had… She was just one big weapon…
Eve frowned in annoyance… why was she so worthless?
Suddenly, the darkness broke away as the film of the energy fritzed out, allowing her to simply walk out. “...Curious?” A sudden chirping alerted her to look down at the floor where she saw Roachy on her metal foot. “Roachy?” The roach nodded as he crawled up her body and got onto her shoulder.
She looked up and saw that the wiring for the energy keeping her inside the cell had been bitten through. “...You chewed through the wires for the cell.” Another nod.
She grinned and patted his head. “Let us go procure Wally.”

Chapter Text
It was easy to admit that the current main goal was to get Wally back.
The only thing that mattered.
Roachy looked at Eve as she placed him into a cup and started carrying it. Something which she had made a detour for.
A detour of forty minutes.
“...I don’t like bugs okay?” Roachy looked at Eve in disappointment. “Okay fine, I hate them. I only didn’t react immediately because you saved me. And because Wally needed saving...Which is why I made a forty minute detour… Okay I admit this worked better when I was talking to someone.”
Maybe she should have never realized how much she liked conversing with people. Now that she couldn’t talk back and forth with someone she was talking to herself.
Like a crazy person.
“I’m not a bad friend for letting my hatred of bugs interfere with Wallys life am I?” Roachys simple look at her was all she needed. “Oh you see through my soul, I need my helmet or else I’m an open book.”
She started looking around erratically in hopes to get something to cover her face, even taking multiple wrong turns. Eventually she happened upon and opened it to reveal spare helmets. “...Perfect.”
When Wally Met Eve
“Okay, it appears I am not the perfect friend.” Eve said with a helmet covering her face as Roachy looked at her from the cup. “But in my defense I have not had friends since before a few days ago.”
Roachy looked at her with a dry face despite being a bug.
“...Fine, I’m awful.”
She then turned the corner and looked at a door at the end of the hallway. “Alright that’s Sir Autos office. If he’s working on Wally himself then they both should be there.” Roachy chirped like the cockroach he was, while Eve smiled and sweated.
It was official. She hated bugs almost as much as she hated herself now.
Only for the walls on the hallway to slid open, with robots coming out. Each one of them standing taller than her. Eve looked up at them as she gently placed Roachy down on the floor.
“Roachy, please do not give these things a second thought.” Eve said as her metal limbs whirred in activation. Before, she went with these things because she didn’t see a point in resisting.
Now she wanted to get past them.
One of them reached for her neck, only for her to drop to the ground. She then sweeped her legs and caused the robot to trip up and fall down. Thanks to her limbs these movements were incredibly fast, so fast the robot had its CPU smashed before it was on the floor for a few seconds.
She then looked up and checked how many they were. Six more.
Six more targets.
“Out. Of. My. Way.”
.
Eve jumped over a swing and smashed another robot, before she was grabbed by the back of her neck and slammed into the wall. She then noticed another one coming at her, which she fired a blast at.
She then kicked the one that was pressing her against the wall and destroyed that one as well.
Three down, two to g-
The other two started punching her against the wall, their metal fists pounding her flesh like flattening a sheet of metal. Eve gritted in pain as she concentrated, her legs shooting forward and destroying them both.
Eve fell to the floor in pain as she groaned in agony. “Ow…Recording pain… analyzing agony…. Taking in regret… Why did I think fighting six robots at the same time was a good idea…”
Roachy’s chirps were the only response she got. Eve slowly got up to her feet and picked up the cup. “Okay… Okay… just… one breath at a time…” She inhaled and exhaled in order to recover from the beatdown she just endured.
At least it was short… short and painful…
Eventually she was able to walk up to the door and knock on it, causing the doors to slid open. “Ah Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1, come in.” The room was dark, so she suspiciously raised her eyebrow. But she didn’t have a choice.
She entered the room of darkness, which triggered the doors to close behind her. “Ah, trapped in a room with a bug… fun.” Roachy chirped in annoyance from his cup. “What do you require from me Roachy? I can’t just turn off my hatred for bugs.”
“I know, isn’t that the problem?” A glowing red light then illuminated the room, causing Eve to look ahead. Sir Auto was sitting at his desk, a mechanical ship wheel connected to the wall behind him, which was where the red light was coming from. “No matter what, humans will always be unable to make the purely logical choice.”
The red light showed that there were portraits on the walls, several shelves with knick knacks on them, a bear rug on the floor, a Newton's cradle on the desk. Lot’s of things just around the room.
“...You are doing paperwork?” Eve asked as she aimed her hand blaster at him. “Whatever, tell me where Wally is?”
“Silence. I wish to speak. It’s not often I get to converse with others.” Sir Auto didn’t even look at her, instead filling out paperwork. “You know actual paper isn’t really used all that much anymore? Centuries ago entire forests would be cut down to make stacks of paper. Another flaw of humanity. The lengths you humans will go to do whatever they wish. But I admit, something about the way the paper feels on my hands.”
He then gestured around his office. “You can see things like African masks, ancient Russian nesting dolls, Iphone 6’s, all relics of bygone eras. I’m a big collector of ancient historical artifacts.”
Eve and Roachy looked at each other before Eve focused on Sir Auto, his mechanical eye staring into her soul. “...You humans?”
“Exactly. Humanity needs to be controlled or else it can do irreparable damage, which Automotive Industries has done for generations.”
“No.” Eve said with a frown. “I mean, who says ‘You humans’?” Auto didn’t seem to react as the metal wheel behind him glowed even brighter. “You know what? It doesn’t matter, where’s Wally?”
“Right here.” She turned around, only for a metal fist to slam into her face. She survived because of the helmet but she dropped the cup holding Roachy. Weirdly, she didn’t hear a shatter as she reoriented herself. Sir Auto smiled as he watched the scene before him.
“I took the liberty of giving him some upgrades, what do you think? It's Wally 2.0.”
Wallys arm was now silver clean, with his mechanical eye being red. It was then Eve noticed he held the cup holding Roachy. “I couldn’t interfere with the wiring without killing him though. Which I didn’t really mind, but having him as a servant seemed much more… oh what’s the word… karmic. So his arms, while given an upgrade, still have three fingers each. I could have given his other arm a more human design, but I’m a fan of symmetry.”
Eves thoughts slowed to a crawl while her heart beated a million beats per second.
Symmetry… both arms are identical. Both arms are metal… both arms are cybernetic… he is missing his last human arm…
“...What have you done to him?” Eve asked in fear as Wally gave the cup with Roachy to Sir Auto, who smiled as Wally aimed another punch at her. She ducked under it, only to be met with a knee to the helmet covered face.
“Like I said, I gave him an upgrade. Now he works much better and more efficiently. All that time in the junkyard made him a perfect enforcer. Now then-” Eve was picked up by her throat with Walls mechanical arm. “-I think you’re owed an explanation before Wally snaps your throat in half like a child breaking a twig.”
“The Apex generator. You know it as a beacon for all interplanetary colonies. And it could be.” Sir Auto said as he walked around his office while Eve was held by the throat, death just a grip away.
“But I have a better idea.” Auto took a glass canister and held it in his. “These canisters are actively able to hold energy quantities, unlike anything ever seen. They can be used to power entire planets if stored with enough power.”
“Wouldn’t it be grand if people were in dire need of energy? Or better yet, if the richest beings in existence were in a bidding war for it. The money they’d spend would fund so much… That’s the main purpose of the Apex Generator.”
There was a window in the office, where a massive power planet was shown in view. “The official story will be that the Apex Generator can only run for a short amount of time, powering the area around here. This will cause people to come here, giving me more business.”
“On the side, I will start a bidding war between the richest one percent for energy that will fund whatever little urges they have.” Sir Auto smiled as he drank some wine.
“...Aren’t you rich? Why are you doing this?” Eve asked as Sir Auto simply shook his head as he adjusted a sheet of paper to have the corners line up.
“Because the truth is. You can never have enough money. Besides, creating a demand was how I built this business up in the first place.” Eve raised an eyebrow at that. “In any case the real problem was how to get the word out without alerting the common mass.”
Sir Auto held up the cup and placed a lid on it, grinning at Roachy. “That was when I figured out a way to engrave coded messages on living beings. The trick was finding something that would be able to survive interspace travel, with assured silence. See the problem is that humans talk, conventional animals were bound to attract attention, plus there would be the process of training them for interplanetary travel.”
He looked at an African mask on the wall and frowned before adjusting it slightly, something Eve noticed before talking.
“Right, which is mandatory once people turn 8 in case they ever want to travel to a different planet.” Eve at the very least knew it wasn’t mandatory for animals. It was then she noticed Roachy and realized something. “...You engraved your message into a roach?”
Sir Auto nodded calmly. “Yes, a message that can only be decoded by the very finest technology, that only my clientele will have access too. In fact I would have doubled if not tripled my wealth by now had this specimen not broken out.”
His focus was then taken up by pushing an ancient Iphone back so it lined up with another one. Eve frowned at him from behind her helmet.
“...You stopped your plan because of a missing roach?” Eve spoke in confusion before she was slammed against the wall by Wally, her throat being more constricted.
“Sure making another one would have been easier, but the chance of someone finding this roach, noticing the message, and decoding said message was 0.0000000000000000000101%.” Sir Auto smiled with shiny, pearly, whites. “I’m very meticulous about loose ends and missed details. Now I can continue with my plan thoroughly and without any worry.”
Wally tightened his grip around Eves neck as Sir Auto smiled. Only for Eve’s helmet to expose her face as he walked away, leaving to exit the office. “Hey…you better hope Wally kills me, because I am going to kick your ass.”
“Oh? You seem oddly concerned about the garbage boy. And for someone who's finally become a better version of himself.”
“He’s my friend. I’m believe this is an adequate response.” Her face of rage and fury was locked onto her former boss.
Sir Auto smirked in a condescending way as the mechanical wheel disconnected from the wall and hovered around him. “That new helmet is from a supply unit directly across the building. Some friend you’re turning out to be.”
“...I never said I was a good one.” Her face now held a blush, one that Sir Auto chuckled at. “But you took my friend, took his other arm, and brainwashed him. And I am going to tear you apart.” She then kicked one of the stands and cause a vase to wobble. Sir Auto frowned and walked over to properly adjust the vase. He proceeded to walk out of the room and let the doors close behind him.
“A fitting epitaph.”
Eve kicked Wally in the stomach, her metal legs causing him pain and making him fall. Unfortunately his metal hand didn’t stop gripping her throat. She used her robotic hand to grab it and loosen the pressure while she undid her helmet so she could look at him face to face.
“Wally, I haven’t been a good friend to you. Please don’t kill me.” Wally didn’t react, simply using his other, now cybernetic, arm to try and attack her. Eve used both her legs to grab it, leaving her in a vulnerable position. Her only free limb was her last and only human arm.
“Wait, that wasn’t what I wanted to say.” She started going through her mind again as Wally slammed her against the wall, her back feeling the pain as she gritted her teeth. “I’m sorry for what I said, I shouldn’t have been such a… I believe the word is jerk.”
Wallys face remained stone cold as he kept pounding the wall with her body. Eve looked at him sadly through the pain, but it didn’t register due to the anguish she felt on an emotional level.
“...I’m sorry… Not just for what I said but for everything… You treated me with nothing but kindness, you gave me a life when I was just a machine. You showed me happiness and food and… and you could kill me now, but it won’t matter.”
As she kept getting beaten against the wall, blood spots appeared on her back, but she smiled anyway.
“I wasn’t actually alive before I met you. And if you don’t come back, I won’t be alive at all… please…” A tear fell from her eye and landed on Wallys face, causing him to stop moving. For a moment they both locked eyes and stared into each others souls. "And Auto has it all wrong. You have always been... the best version of yourself..."
Only for Wally to slam her into the wall a final time, pain causing her body to go limp and fall to the ground. Wally then used his red glowing eye to observe her. He then contacted Sir Auto.
“Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1 has been deleted.”
“Perfect. Now come to the launch site. I need to send my message out to the upper echelons of the world.”

Chapter Text
The powerful crush everything underfoot. That was what Sir Auto knew. It was just the way the world worked…
The door opened to see Wally carrying Asset 0-0-0-0-0-1. “A shame, it seemed that it was not her fate to assist me. I did have ideas for her future use, but alas. Her fate was instead to be a case study. Just dump her at my feet, I wish to start organizing her corpse.”
They were currently in a hallway with massive windows, all of which were showing the Apex Generator. He then held up Roachy. “See this Blattodea? You are about to be a part of the greatest monetary increase Automotive Industries. Well, not you. I’ve already set the timer. At midnight tonight the new day will usher a new galaxy.”
The floating wheel moved around him as he looked at the roach in the cup before looking at Eves lifeless body.
“Now, do I kill you or start organizing the corpse? The corpse is really annoying me with how it’s messing the clean hallway up…”
“...New information incoming.” Wally speaking suddenly caused Sir Auto to look at him. “Because of this vessels life in the junkyard, his body parts were often past expiration date. Because of this, this vessel suffered glitches.”
Wally then turned back to him with a glare. “Which made him unable to be remote controlled.” Sir Auto glared back before he dodged to the side, missing a mechanical punch that cracked the window.
He looked at the arm and saw the body it was connected to. Eve was glaring holes in his skull as her human hand slid her helmet on.
“You’re gonna get such an ass whooping.” Eve said as the helmet covered her face. She looked over at Wally, focusing on the metallic arm he had given Wally. And how he had taken away his arm…
“No one hurts Wally!”
When Wally met Eve
Sir Auto jumped to the side as Eve crouched down and grabbed Roachy with her metal hand. “Noble Roachy, we have finally procured you.”
“It’ll be a short celebration.” Sir Auto spoke coldly as Eve looked around in confusion.
“When I was pretending to be dead, you told Wally to bring me to the launch site.” She said in uncertainty. “This is not a launch site, it’s the Apex Generator.”
Sir Auto smirked as he looked at the Apex Generator. “It’s both. The ability to generate power like that, also makes it viable for a high speed transportation terminal.” Eve swung her fist at him once more, only for him to dodge.
“Your attacks are pointless. I can see them before they even get started.” He said coldly, while Eve glared at him and launched another attack at him. One that was dodged pretty easily. Sir Auto grabbed at her neck, but fortunately Eve used her mechanical arm to repel herself away.
“...Ah. New plan…” Eve grabbed Wally and Roachy and started running away, leaving Sir Auto to look at them in annoyance before he started walking with the wheel floating alongside him.
“They’re already dead, they just don’t know it.”
“So what’s the plan here?” Wally asked as Eve carried him on her back. Thanks to her robotic legs she was actively hovering, jets coming from her legs.
The helmet covered Eves face. “...Umm…”
“You don’t have a plan.”
“Apologies, I was busy getting beaten up by a guy with two metal arms.” Eve spoke while loading dots appeared on her mask. Okay think, he’s trying to kill us because we know the truth, but we also have to stop the message from loading. Wait do we actually have to stop the message? We…
“I have no plan, and no idea what to do. The only thing I know I want to do is hurt Sir Auto for what he did to you.” Eve was clenching her teeth under her helmet, while Wallys gears started whirring.
“...I have a plan.” Wally went to pat Roachys head, only to realize he didn’t have a human hand anymore. “I can use the tech here to decode the message on Roachy, then we broadcast it.”
Eve frowned at that. “Wait, you can decode this?”
“Yeah, I watched him while he did his experiments on me. He’s already given the same message to a bunch of roaches that are about to be transmitted. Midnight is in ten minutes, so we have until then to stop him. There’s a lab in the Apex generator as well, which now that I think about it has a lot of uses.”
“Okay… I don’t know how to do any of that.” Wally started sweating before Eve thought of something and slowed down right where the building doors led to the Apex Generator. “Idea, you start doing all that stuff.”
Wally yelped as she shoved him out of the glass door. “What are you doing? He’s still after us!” Eve then closed the glass door and looked at Wally and Roachy, taking off her helmet to see them face to face.
“Wally, you have to stop the message from getting out. Auctions these days last a couple minutes, and all of Autos clientele has tech that decodes the message in seconds. I don’t want him making a single buck off of this.”
“Eve, he’s going to beat you to a pulp!” Wally kept slamming on the doors while Eve locked them, her arm connecting to the door and locking it. “Please!”
“Wally, I know those few days might not have meant much to you, but they meant everything to me. I have to stall him while you expose him…. Please.” She smiled at him gently, only to turn around with her back to him. “...I really am sorry, now go.”
Wally wanted to say more, but they were running out of time. “...Please don’t die.” He then ran into the generator area, which was as big as a park.
“So many things you wish to say, but as a human the words are lost on you.” Eve frowned as she looked at Auto, who turned the hallways corner with the floating wheel. “First I kill you, then I kill Wally.”
“Not gonna happen.” Eve glared at him as she held up her helmet, sliding it on and letting the lights form a down arrow. “I owe you an ass whooping.”
Sir Auto smiled calmly as he adjusted his military hat. “Well then, come and deliver.”
The Apex Generator was structured like a power plant, with multiple rooms. “Come on…” Wally ran through the hallways of the building. Running was harder thanks to how heavy the other mechanical arm he had was.
This isn’t good. I’ve gotta decode the message, broadcast it… but that won’t stop Auto from killing us. Auto gloated about the structure of this place when he was working on him, so he knew it inside and out…
Which means… here… He broke down a door and entered a room with the devices needed to decode Roachy. He raised his human hand to get to work, only to realize he didn’t have one anymore…
He shook his head and used his clunky metal fingers to start typing. Usually delicate human fingers were better, but he had to make do…
Hold on, if I remember correctly… He tapped some stuff on his arms and opened some ports. Okay… just pull out some wires… connect to some devices… He pulled out the wires and plugged them into the port of a control panel in the room.
Feedback came from the arm, causing him and Roachy to wince in pain. Slowly through the feedback, he was able to make out some words and get a connection.
“...Ow-uh-jjj…OW….”
“Eve?” Wally spoke as he started working with the devices. “I’m communicating with you while I work so I can provide backup. How’s the battle going?”
“...Well…”
Eve shot a blast of plasma at Auto, who dodged it easily. “First you’ll fire a blast, then you’ll kick and punch.” He spoke calmly as he moved out of the way of her punch, and effortlessly avoided her kick.
“How predictable.” He slammed his hand into her stomach and sent her flying. She tumbled across the floor and slid into the wall.
She groaned as she slowly got herself up and responded to Wally. “...It could be going better…” She jumped up and down to her body used to the pain while she talked. “I’ve never actually fought someone before, and it’s not going well.”
“I can try and help while I work on this. Have you noticed anything about him yet? Anything that you could exploit?”
“Well he’s got that wheel that keeps… floating around him.” Eve then noticed that she was bleeding. “...I might be losing a lot of blood. This isn’t good. My prognosis is that I’m going to lose.”
“Maybe fighting him wasn’t the best idea.”
“You are not good at being the backseat advice giver.”
“Backseat Driver.” Eve rolled her eyes under her helmet as Sir Auto looked at the damaged area before focusing Eve. “You think for someone with so many knick knacks he wouldn’t be so good at fighting.”
“Yeah… Yeah…” Eve started remembering something from when she was in her office. “Wally, can you-”
“Already on it, and your idea might actually work.” Eve grinned under her helmet before she ran forward while Auto grinned.
“You approach your death eagerly. Be proud.” Eve slammed her foot down on the floor so hard it actually cracked the floor. Auto looked down at that before Eves robotic fist slammed into his face.
He wasn’t sent flying, and his feet didn’t move, but Eve still grinned. Her helmet even made a star shape of victory. “Looks like I can get a hit in on you after all. You’re so obsessed with organizing things that when something gets damaged you focus on it instead of your opponent.”
The red wheel started spinning as it glowed red.
Auto looked at her as she retracted her fist and kicked at him, only for him to duck under it and punch her in the face. Her helmet broke and exposed the left side of her face. Her back hit the wall as Sir Auto grinned. “Congrats, you got a single hit in, how praise worthy.”
Eve frowned before she broke the wall with a kick, used it as a launching board, and punched at Sir Auto, only for him to catch the fist and slam her back to the wall.
“I do hope that you didn’t have faith in that plan. I’ve already adapted to your paltry strategy. The time it takes for me to analyze and store the discrepancies is now too short for you to do anything.” He smiled
“...I made you a promise…” Sir Auto raised his eyebrow as Eve kept speaking. “...I was gonna tear you apart… You can count on that.”
She said as she started running away.
Sir Auto simply stared at her fleeing figure. “...There’s something wrong with humans.” He stalked her like a figure in the night, all while Eve retraced her steps with Wally talking her through it.
“Keep going, he’s gotta think you don’t have any other options!”
I don’t really have any other options…Okay… So if I remember things right… After this turn should be… Sir Auto shot forward and grabbed her by the neck, forcing her through the doors. She yelled in pain as Sir Auto held her up, squeezing her neck.
“How very entertaining.” He turned her around and held her by the chin, holding her above him like how one would hold a skull. “After you are done, Wally goes next. I’ll make sure to be extra careful when slicing his flesh off, and replacing it with perfect metal. And I’ll make sure not a trace of his wretched garbage personality is g-”
“Shut up.” His mouth was covered by Eve’s human hand. She glared at him in fury as she started talking. “You keep talking and talking about how people suck, and you’re right. But you went and hurt Wally. After everything he did he lost an arm because of me. If I hear you insult him one more time I’m gonna lose it!”
Sir Auto rolled his eyes before she fired her arm blaster multiple times into the air and hit the ceiling, causing the area to start shaking. “...What’s that supposed to do?”
“You should look around. This is a plan made up by me and that garbage man dumb ass.” Eves words made Sir Auto look around, only for him to realize that they were back at his office.
His office filled with knick knacks, knick knacks that could easily fall and take his attention.
Knick knacks that were on shelves in a room Eve had just made shake.
He looked in fear as Eve grinned psychotically. “Like I said, I promised you an ass whooping.” The first statue fell to the ground and attracted his attention.
Before Sir Auto could do anything, her arm expelled jets and slammed her fist into his skull. “We’re not done yet.” He dropped her to the ground as he kept looking around.
“Wait- Stop-Those are priceless!” The red wheel kept spinning faster and faster as Eve kicked her metal foot into his eye. He kept trying to talk but she kept punching him in the face, even using her human hand. Eve kept screaming as she caved in his face. “I will M-M-MAAAAAAke you%@%!!!”
“SHUT UP!!!!” She spun around on one metal leg, leaving the other out as fired the jets to spin at insane speeds. She kicked him in the skull, sending him flying into the wall. The wall shattered into pieces as he broke through structural integrity of the building.
Eve slowly stopped spinning, the leg she was on glowing red from the frictional heat. “Eve! You won!”
“...May have… I didn’t… dizzy…” Eve fell to her knees and vomited. She keeled over and started expelling her stomach's contents from her mouth. “...Mistake…”
“Eve! There’s someone else in the room with you!” Eve widened her eyes and looked around. Sir Auto was in the wall and currently buried under rubble, she was laying in a puddle of her own vomit.
Who else there? And why was everything so red?
Wait… She slowly turned her head to see the room bathed in red light.
“Congrats… you defeated a puppet.”
The floating red wheel spun around fastly before blasting Eve.
