Chapter 1: Reincarnation
The sun was bright, it gave him a strange almost nostalgic feeling. Like the days he had spent at the park with Teddy when the young boy would visit him during the weekends. Now he wouldn’t get to that any longer, after all he was dead now… It had been night when it happened, an auror raid gone wrong, they’d ran into a trap, and many had paid for it with their lives. The flashes of spells shooting past his face as they’d hit his comrades, his colleagues, his friends.
Harry shook his head; it didn’t do to dwell on those memories. It had happened yes, and how he was here, waiting to move on to the afterlife he presumed. Here he sat on a bench in a large field with the sun shining down on his face the warmth seeping into his bones.
“Here we meet again Harry Potter…” an aged voice rasped from behind him as a soft set of footsteps approached the bench, before a black suited figure sat down besides the wizard.
Harry turned to the being, “…Again?” he asked a little confused, for some reason he couldn’t quite make out the face of the being sat next to him, he looked a bit like an older man, his hair salt and peppered, but he wouldn’t be able to tell you the shape of the being’s mouth, face, their eyes, or even what colour those eyes were.
“Yes again, we met a number of years ago back when you were still in school.” The being supplied, allowing Harry to slot the pieces together himself.
Harry thought for a moment before a sudden realisation came to him, “You must be Death then?”
“Close, a personification of the concept, I am not Death itself, but an aspect of it given form in order to sort the more unique cases that pop up once every while.” It explained.
“I guess even in Death I can’t exactly be normal.” Harry chuckled to himself; it wasn’t anything he wasn’t used to after all.
The being continued, “You see, your case is unique even amongst the unique cases.” It explained. “You after all possessed all three hallows, the objects once created by a different aspect of Death.” As the being waved a hand in Harry’s directed the stone and wand appeared on his lap while the cloak laid itself across his shoulders.
“These objects, even though they don’t do what many people thought they did do carry a certain amount of… ‘significance’ to us aspects of death. While you may not be the master of death these objects do grant you a certain amount of ‘control’ regarding your passing.” The being didn’t look, or sound upset while he explained, it more so sounded like this was just the way things were.
“But what is it I can do then? And if these did indeed originally belong to Death, wouldn’t it be better for me to return them? I don’t want… I don’t need anything extra.” Harry said hesitating at the end before he took the cloak, wand and stone and tried to hand them over to the aspect before him.
“Are you sure these are the actions you wish to take?” it asked, a little confused by the actions of the mortal before it.
“I do, I never claimed these for power or anything, I even snapped the wand and dropped the stone into the ocean. The only reason I even kept the cloak is because it was one of the few things that came from my father even if indirectly.” The green-eyed wizard declared firmly.
“So please, take them, and return them to their rightful owner.” He said as he pushed the items into the aspect’s hands.
It looked down at the objects before it nodded, “Very well, if that is your choice we will allow it, but this doesn’t solve your unique case… but perhaps…” it seemed to think something over.
“How would you like another chance? A new chance in a different world, one far away from the machinations of the wizarding world?” it asked the wizard.
Confusion spread across Harry’s face, “As in… reincarnation?”
“Exactly, we would allow you to reincarnate into a world very different from your own, one where magic and the like does exist but very different from what you know now. We’ll allow you to keep your memories and have them awaken at an appropriate age.” It explained.
“But what about my friends and family? Does choosing this mean I wouldn’t be able to see them again?” he asked.
The aspect of death looked away from the wizard for a moment before it turned to Harry again, “There is something that should be possible, but there will be a cost.” It explained.
Harry was a little surprised, what is it that this being could do that would allow him to both reincarnate and see his friends again. “What would the cost be?”
“A favour, or rather… a task that will be given to you upon a future date within your new world once you are old enough to accomplish it.” The aspect laid out the terms, “and in return we will give the offer we have given you, to reincarnate into this new world to a small number of your friends… up to seven we’ll say. These friends will be reincarnated as well within their own new lives, with a hint of their original memories and a way for you to find them, what do you say?” it asked.
“I-…” Harry hesitated for a moment, thinking it over it did all sound fair… and it also sounded quite nice a chance to start over, knowing what he did now but also far away from the machinations of the wizarding world as it was now… “I accept the offer.”
In a strange way Harry felt like the aspect of death before him was rather satisfied, “Very well, we shall meet again one day Harry Potter… we hope you enjoy yourself.” It stated.
Before Harry could do or say anything else a bright light overtook his frame and sight and he was whisked away from this place of in between.

A large manor stood upon a rather large hill, separated from the rest of the city scape surrounding it. While it was rather early in the morning most residents of this manor had been awake for a number of hours already.
“Hadrian! Young Master Hadrian where did you go?” a young, female voice called out as a young-looking maid walked through the halls of the manor. “Young master?” she called again as she looked into one of the rooms but finding it empty.
“Anastasia, what brings you here?” another woman spoke up from behind the maid, “I thought you were with Hadrian to get him prepared for his ball this afternoon.” The voice that had spoken up belonged to none other than Lyra Phenex, the future Lady of House Phenex. The woman was rather tall and had a slim frame with pale and fair skin. Eyes the colour of pearl and hair the darkest black.
“I’m sorry my Lady, but when I was helping Hadrian with his outfit he suddenly ran off, I’m not sure what spurred him into action but since then I can’t find him anymore.” The maid now revealed as Anastasia explained to the lady of the house.
Lyra sighed to herself at the antics of her only child, “It’s alright Anastasia, why don’t you go rest, I’ll go find my wayward son. This isn’t the first time he has disappeared on us after all.”
After dismissing Anastasia, Lyra made her way down towards the family library guessing that this was where her wayward son had run off to. After a moment of searching she found the now twelve year old tucked away in between two shelves with a large tome on his lap. “Hadrian Phenex, how many times do I have to find you in this position after you’ve sneaked away from your attendants.” She sighed.
The young blonde boy looked up into eyes identical to his own, “Ahh- uhm, hello Mum, I didn’t expect to see you here…” he stuttered out as he looked at his mother’s stern gaze.
Waving one of her hands the tome shot up from his hands and into her own, “An introduction to elemental magics?” she raised her eyebrow as she looked down at Hadrian.
“Well- while I was being fitted, I suddenly got an idea for a new spell… so I came down here to check on something to see if it would work.” The young boy muttered as he stood up. “I’m sorry for running away from Anastasia…” he then said after a small delay.
“It’s alright…” Lyra sighed again, “Your father and I both know how inquisitive that little mind of yours is, but you know there is a time and place for these things. And not while you’re being fitted for your outfit for your birthday ball this evening.” She stated as she put the tome back on the shelves and motioned for Hadrian to follow her which the boy did.

As Hadrian followed his mother through the manor’s hallways, he had to think back on his life with the Phenex family up to the day he had finally awakened his old memories again.
He had been born to Ruval and Lyra Phenex, two upstanding devils of Noble lineage, and if that wasn’t a shock when his old memories returned to him. He had expected a lot of things in regard to reincarnation, but to be reborn as one of the creatures reviled in the Bible wasn’t what he was expecting.
It hadn’t been bad though, he had very lovely parents- even if his father was a rather busy man due to his activities in both the rating games and the family business in preparation to one day take over as the family head once his grandfather either passed down the title or passed on.
You see his family was a rather large one, he had his parents and grandparents on his father’s side, he also had two uncles on his dad’s side alongside an aunt that was about two years younger than him. And on his mother’s side he had another uncle who was the current head of the Marchosias Family.
He had been brough up in the main Phenex family manor and had as such been surrounded by his family at all times, and of course he also had the amazing house staff that took care of them all as well.
When he was four years old, he had begun studying the ways of the world under the tutelage of his mother. She had taught him a lot of things, from etiquette to the current remaining pillar clans of the underworld to the history of the civil and great wars. She had also begun teaching his how to utilize his demonic power as soon as his clan trait fully awakened, and if that hadn’t been a shocker to him, he could still remember the day shortly after his seventh birthday.
“Hadrian darling, do be careful up there, we don’t want anything to happen to you!” His mother had called out while he was climbing one of the many trees in their garden.
He and Ravel -his paternal aunt- had been playing outside together while his mother and grandmother watched them when he’d decided he wanted to climb the large tree. “Wait for me Haddy!” the soft voice of Ravel called out to him as she tried to climb up after him in her poofy dress.
The boy just giggled as he forced himself to climb higher and higher, however what he hadn’t expected was for one of the branches to slip away from under him as it broke when he put pressure on it. He yelped before screaming as he fell from a rather large height, before his family or any staff could help him however, he hit the ground with a loud thud.
“Hadrian!” his mother yelled as she quickly stood up and rushed over to the small boy and where he laid on the grass, Ravel quickly coming down the tree as well as Rayna -his grandmother- quickly rushed over as well.
Before anyone could check on the boy or his condition however he was suddenly engulfed in a purple and black flame before the boy suddenly shot up from where he was laying down.
“Mom! What- what is happening to me?” the boy cried out as he saw his mother’s distressed face and the flames that surrounded him. The flames soon receded however and all that remained were a pair of beautiful flaming wings that fanned out behind the boy, almost like the wings of angel if it weren’t for the cursed flames that they were made of.
“I think Hadrian that your fall awakened your healing earlier then we expected darling.” Rayna said with a small smile as she looked at the seven-year-old. “And in a very unique way as well, aren’t these the Marchosias’ Cursed Flames Lyra?” the older blonde asked as Hadrian and Ravel looked at each other in confusion.
“I-… It seems so.” She said hesitantly, “I hadn’t expected something like this… a mutation of the Phenex and Marchosias clan traits.” She said softly.
While the fall had been scary and neither Ravel nor he had been allowed to climb any trees for a long while after that he looked back on the memory rather fondly. Not long after he had some lessons with both his father and mother on learning to control his flames.
Hadrian was soon knocked out of thoughts however as he and his mother arrived at their destination, his bedroom. “Alright Hadrian, it’s time to finish your outfit for tonight.” His mother said. “We’re having some very special guests over in a couple hours before your party, you see now that you’re twelve years old your father and I have decided that it’s time you get your own Evil Pieces.”
“My own set of Evil Pieces!” Hadrian exclaimed in excitement, he and his parents had always agreed that he’d be allowed to start travel to gather his own peerage once he got his evil pieces.
“Yes, your own Evil Pieces, while the ceremony is normally done in a more public manor your grandfather called in some favours so we could do it here in private at home. So, the Satans Beelzebub and Lucifer will be joining us momentarily in order to see it all done.” She explained.
“Wait they are??” Hadrian asked in shock, he knew that Satan Beelzebub was the one who monitored and handled the Evil Pieces system as it’s creator. But he didn’t expect two Satan’s to show up personally for this… what kind of favours did his grandfather call in for Heaven’s sake?
A couple moments later Hadrian was stood before the mirror after his mother had dressed him into a suit perfectly sized for him and his hair done neatly. He looked nothing like he did in his past life, his skin was very fair if a little on the pale side that he inherited from his mother, alongside her pearl-coloured eyes. His blonde hair and sharp facial features he’d inherited from his father instead. He kind of wished he’d inherited his mother’s black hair instead, but at the same time he didn’t mind his new looks.
“Come on Hadrian, we’ll meet your father and grandfather in the sitting room, this is where we’ll meet Lords Beelzebub and Lucifer as well.” His mother said as she put the finishing touches on his hair.
<>
“Hadrian, my favourite grandson, it’s good to see you!” Hadrian was immediately greeted by his grandfather- Reiner Phenex, the current Head of the Phenex Family.
“I’m your only grandson grandfather.” Hadrian said as he hugged the older man as he left his mother’s side.
His father chimed up jokingly from where he was seated on one of the couches, “Well hello to you too my son.” Hadrian moved from his grandfather to his father and hugged the man as well. “So, you’re twelve now little man, or well, not so little anymore am I right?” he chuckled.
Hadrian elbowed his father in the side as his joke before he moved over to sit beside his mother on the couch. “Hello to you as well father.” He smirked as he sat down.
“You ready to get your Evil Pieces son?” his father asked him.
Hadrian nodded, “I’m excited to be able to go out and gather my own peerage… but I was wondering where grandma, my uncles, and Ravel are?” he asked as he looked around.
It was his grandfather that answered him “Your grandmother is doing some final preparations to the ballroom together with some of the staff. As for your uncles they’ll join us at the ball later Riser is currently out with Yubelluna and your uncle Ruon is still at work.”
“And Ravel?” Hadrian asked, the two of them often hung out together after all, it wasn’t very often that you saw them apart. Mostly because the two were very close in age as well.
“I believe she is with one of the maids, seeing as she’s only ten years old and will have her own introductory ball once she herself becomes twelve.” His mother explained.
Before anything else could be said however a sudden green light appeared as a large transportation circle showed up near the doors of the room.
“Ah- that will be Lord Beelzebub arriving.” Hadrian’s grandfather declared.
Notes:
Hello everyone! Welcome to the rewrite of a story I had originally worked on while I was posting on a different site. I was planning on releasing this for a while already, and here it finally is. I’ve written a small number of chapters in advance, so I hope I’ll be able to create a bit more of a regular uploading schedule for this fanfic.
In regard to “Dungeon Diving on my Way to becoming a Hero” I am still working on it, and it definitely isn’t dead. I am however stuck on chapter three and considering a small rewrite/editing of chapter two so I can go in a slightly different direction for chapter three so I can finally get that out as well, though I think I’ll also try writing a small number of chapters in advance for that story as well.
Chapter 2: Reunion
Notes:
Hey everyone! Here I am again, I promise I'm not dead.
I've just been really busy because I recently got informed they're not renewing my contract at work which means I'm currently scrambling to find a new job.
Luckily I'm in a very wanted field, but finding something close to home is a bit of a struggle (especially since I don't have my Driver's License yet).So hopefully I'll be able to work more on my current stories soon, however I had this chapter ready right now so here you are! I hope you all enjoy.

Chapter 2: Reunion
“Ah- that will be Lord Beelzebub arriving.” Lord Phenex- Hadrian’s grandfather declared as a large green transportation circled shower up in their siting room. Normally due to the protections placed on their house one wouldn’t normally be able to teleport in like this, so his grandfather must have given the Satan permission to do so. Though if Hadrian were to think about the Satan Beelzebub’s reputation even if his grandfather hadn’t given the man permission, he probably still would have been able to teleport in due to his high mastery of most forms of magic.
And indeed, a moment later when the light from the circle died down both Lords Beelzebub and Lucifer were standing there, alongside Lucifer’s Queen Grayfia Lucifuge.
The Phenex family members stood up and approached the trio as his grandfather greeted the two. “Lord Beelzebub, Lord Lucifer, it’s wonderful to see you both again. I’m glad you were able to make enough time so my grandson could receive his Evil Pieces today.” His grandfather shook both their hands and then introduced the rest of the family.
“You know my son Ruval, and his wife and Queen Lyra of course.” He began before motioning for Hadrian to come forward. “And this is my grandson Hadrian Phenex.”
Hadrian did a small bow, “It’s a pleasure to meet you both My Lords.”
Lord Lucifer gave a small laugh, “There’s no need to be so formal with me Hadrian, you’re only about a year younger than my own younger sister after all. You can simply call me Sirzechs.” the crimson haired man then gestured over to his own companion, “Allow me to also introduce my own wife and Queen Grayfia Lucifuge.” The silver-haired maid gave him a small nod as he greeted the woman.
“Please sit down everyone, can I get any of you some refreshments?” His grandfather said as he motioned towards the couches and chairs of their sitting room.
“There’s no need for refreshments, while I was able to clear some of my schedule for this, I am a bit on a time crunch as I do have some more meetings later that I’ll need to be going to.” Lord Beelzebub’s monotone cut in before Sirzechs could say anything, the red-haired man sighing at his friend and colleague’s directness.
Hadrian’s father nodded in understanding, “That’s fine by us, let’s get started then.” Ruval looked to his father in confirmation and the older lord nodded in response.
“Very well,” Lord Beelzebub said before turning to Hadrian, “We are here for you of course Hadrian, you are about to be granted your own set of Evil Pieces and as such will be accepting all that comes with it both in terms of responsibility and the rules and regulations that come along with it, are you fully aware of this?”
Hadrian nodded, “I understand Lord Beelzebub, I know that as a new King I’ll be responsible for any people I reincarnate both in terms of their behaviour and in case any of them go rogue and become Stray Devils.” The young man explained, “I also know that in return it is my responsibility to care for them as well upon their becoming my servants.”
It was one of the things that came as a surprise to the Harry that had come before, the thought of being able to reincarnate people into his own Devil Servants was a strange one. On one hand it would allow him to bring any of his reincarnated friends into his family in case they were to agree to be reincarnated. But the ability to save someone from the brink of death, or even bring back the recently deceased in this manner was very strange to him… it took him a while to get used to it even if he knew about the Evil Pieces since before his memories came back.
Lord Beelzebub and Lucifer both nodded, and a new and smaller green magical circle appeared from which a small monument descended. “Place your hand upon the monument and channel some of your Demonic Power to officially be registered as a King.” The man explained.
After glancing at his father who nodded encouragingly to him, he did as he was told, and a small glow encompassed the monument for a second before Lord Beelzebub de-summoned it to wherever it was before, and a new circle showed up that deposited a small box into the greenette’s hand.
“This box here contains your Evil Pieces, the same as with the monument you simply channel some of your Demonic Power into them in order to bind them to yourself.” The box was handed over to Hadrian who accepted it with shaking hands.
Lord Beelzebub immediately stood up after handing the box over, “Seeing as I’ve done what I came here for I’ll be taking my leave now.” And indeed, before anyone could bid the man farewell, he had disappeared into a new transportation circle.
“I’m sorry for him.” Sirzechs sighed as he too stood up from where he had been seated. “That is simply how Ajuka is normally, so don’t take it personally or anything.” The man said as he looked at the blonde boy. “But I have witnessed your signing up as a King, I’ll take my leave as well so you may claim your pieces in private with your family.” Grayfia who had been standing behind Sirzechs the whole time walked besides her husband and started preparing their own transportation circle.
“Thank you for showing up today, Lord Sirzechs.” Hadrian said with a small bow as his grandfather and parents gave their own farewells. The crimson haired man ruffled Hadrian’s hair slightly before he disappeared alongside his wife.
“Is Lord Lucifer always so personable?” Lyra asked her husband softly after the man had ruffled her son’s hair.
“I couldn’t say for sure, but many people know how he feels about his own younger sister who is about Hadrian’s age… maybe he has a soft spot for children? I do know he can be ruthless when it comes to politics however from the times I have accompanied father.” Ruval responded to his wife.
Hadrian’s grandfather then motioned to the box with Evil Pieces, “Well Hadrian, go ahead and claim your pieces. Maybe you’ll even get a mutation piece if you’re lucky!”
“A mutation piece?” the pearl-eyed boy asked a little confused.
“Did we never tell you about mutation pieces?” his mother asked the boy a little confused herself as well.
As Hadrian shook his head his father decided to explain. “You see, mutation pieces are a sort of bug in the system so to speak, one that Lord Beelzebub left in on purpose. You know how Evil Pieces each have a numerical value to show how powerful a person they can reincarnate, with a pawn being equal to one, a rook equal to five pawns, both the bishop and knight being equal to three, and the queen piece being equal to nine pawns.” His father took a small pause. “Mutation pieces are the outliers in this case, because they change this value, while it won’t change for certain styles of rating games what mutation pieces do is allow you to reincarnate someone who would normally need more than one evil piece with only one piece.”
His mother took over then, “Whereas one knight will be worth three pawns like normal, a mutation piece can be anywhere from double to triple the worth meaning even a knight could have a worth of nine pawns similarly to a queen.”
Hadrian was shocked, “Oh wow, that’s quite nice, how often do these mutation pieces show up then?” he asked.
“Not often sadly, maybe one out of every ten devils are lucky enough to receive a mutation piece naturally.” His grandfather chimed in again. “But maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones!”
Hadrian moved over to the box that was now set on their coffee table and placed a hand on the top. “Alright, let’s give it a go.” And pushed some of magic into the box his hand radiating with his cursed flames for a moment before the box glowed as the pieces were bound to him.
“Well, let’s see.” His father said as Hadrian moved to open the box.
<>
A couple hours later Hadrian found himself standing outside of his family’s ballroom. All of the guests that had been invited had already entered about fifteen minutes ago so they could socialize and move through the room a bit before he was introduced.
As he was waiting his mother and father walked up to him and each placed a hand on his shoulder. “You ready Hadrian?” his father asked with a small smile.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be ready for something like this… it’s a lot of people.” Hadrian cringed a little at the thought. Even before his reincarnation he had disliked crowds, probably a hold-over from his time with the Dursley’s.
His father’s smile widened, “There’s no need to be nervous, both your mother and I are here with you, now center yourself we’ll be called on any moment now.” His mother also gave him a small squeeze on his shoulder in reassurance as one of the staff members called out their arrival.
“Everyone may I please have your attention!” He heard a man call out, “Now introducing your hosts and the young devil for who this celebration is being held! Heir Ruval Phenex and his Queen and Wife Lyra Phenex alongside their son Hadrian Phenex!” the two large ballroom doors opened as the bright lights of the chandeliers blinded Hadrian for a moment before he could look out into the hall and see all the assembled devils looking up at him and his parents.
Together the trio walked down the elaborate stairs and onto the ballroom floor where they were welcomed by a number of Devil families as the music picked up again in the background. His parents then proceeded to introduce him to a rather large group of people, from the head of the Gremory and Sitri households to those of the houses Bael and Agares and a number of other families.
However eventually he was left to wander on his own as his parents decided he was introduced to everyone important and began socializing themselves. While it was a celebration of his birthday and the right to gain his own Evil Pieces, it was also a moment for the upper echelon of Devil Society to gather and talk freely outside of alliances, dealings, and business.
Hadrian soon found himself surrounded by a small group of Devils, “Hey, you’re Hadrian Phenex right!?” A male voice called out from beside Hadrian as he turned and saw a rather tall boy with black hair and violet eyes approaching him. “I’m Sairaorg Bael, I was sitting over there with my cousin and some friends of hers if you’d like to join us?” now Hadrian recognized him, he had heard his parents talk about him, the heir to the Bael family that hadn’t inherited the famed Power of Destruction. Apparently, his father was trying to get his second son instated as Heir instead.
“I’d love to!” Hadrian agreed as he followed Sairaorg and saw the unmistakable appearances of someone who was basically a younger female version or clone of Sirzechs.
“This is Rias Gremory, my aforementioned cousin and heiress to the house of Gremory.” Sairaorg began the introductions Rias looked over at him and he could see a certain look in her eyes that made it clear she didn’t really want to be here. “This is Sona Sitri, the heiress of the Sitri house.” He pointed towards the shorter haired girl that held her black hair in a bob with a pair of glasses that she most likely wore for aesthetics. “And this is Seekvaira Agares, the heiress to the house of Agares.” He motioned toward the blond haired and pink-eyed girl.
“Please to make all of your acquaintances.” Hadrian said with a small bow as he looked at the three girls who each greeted him in turn as well, well except for Rias who simply nodded
“Sorry about Rias, she has some Issues with your uncle, it’s nothing against you really.” Sona chimed in as Rias let out a whine in protest.
The redhead covered her friends’ mouth before she could say anything else, “It’s not like that! It’s just- uhm- well Riser-“ her face turned almost as red as her hair as she couldn’t find the right words.
Hadrian had to supress a small chuckle at the Gremory heiress her face as he spoke up himself, “It’s no worries, I’m not the biggest fan of Uncle Riser either… I don’t really like how he treats his peerage or acts in public when he’s supposed to be engaged.” Seekvaira, it seems picked up on something in Hadrian’s tone.
“You really aren’t kidding.” The blonde said with a small smile of her own.
Hadrian sighed, “Yeah, while I get that harems and polyamorous relationships are more common in the underworld, stuff like that should be discussed beforehand, and when you’re “pureblood devil of noble origin-“ here Hadrian couldn’t help but use quotation marks. “and supposed to set an example for the rest of the population it kind of disgusts me that this is how he acts while he’s engaged to you, I’ve also never seen him try to get to know you out of getting you ready to bed him once he can- which disgusting seeing as you’re my age- I’m just- I don’t know where to place him, we’re family… but that’s it.” He explained.
Rias nodded along, having let go of Sona while he was explaining his point of view. “I’m glad someone from your family can see my point of view, I’m sorry for how I acted earlier I just really don’t like Riser, and I guess my dislike for him cause me to kind of project it onto your entire family…” she admitted.
“Don’t worry, I get it.” Hadrian said with a smile, “and to be fair, my parents do to especially my mother, she’s tried talking to him several times but nothing good has come off it.”
Rias smiled to, “Let’s start over, I’m Rias Gremory, but can just call me Rias.” She stuck her hand out and Hadrian shook it as the two smiled at one another.
“Hadrian Phenex, but you can just call me Hadrian or Harry, whichever you prefer.” The others around them smiled as well and the five young devils continued to talk more together during the ball while the adults just left them alone in their corner.
There were some other Devil children at the party as well, but most didn’t want to approach their group, not because they weren’t curious about Hadrian but not many people wanted to associate themselves with Sairaorg with the current tension within the Bael household regarding his status.
Eventually though Hadrian did bid the four young heirs goodbye but promised to keep in touch with all of them as they shared their numbers and created a group chat with them all in it.
As he was walking around the ballroom greeting more people while trying to find his parents, he started hearing some muttering and saw some people throwing dark and disgusted looks towards one side of the ballroom.
There he saw a tall and regal looking woman with white hair and golden eyes in a form fitting black dress that fell all the way down to the ground while decked out in golden jewellery from her rings to intricate snake-like bracelets and a nice statement necklace. Standing besides her were two nearly identical children who outside of them clearly being different genders could’ve passed for one another.
The first child was a girl, with white hair similar to her mother that was pulled back into a neat ponytail, the difference however was that she had a red streak running through her hair as well. She similarly to her mother was in a black dress, however her dress looked a bit more like one of those dresses Ravel liked to wear, like an older style ballgown. Her eyes were gold too and while she didn’t wear as much jewellery as her mother she did wear a similar necklace.
The boy on the other hand had his white hair cut rather short, as if it were shaved on the back and sides but left longer on top with a similar red streak in his hair, however smaller due to his shorter hair. He was dressed in a nice suit that while in his previous life Harry could’ve seen in a muggle magazine. He too had golden eyes and a necklace identical to that of his sister.
Hadrian’s attention however was soon brought back to the mumbling of the different people around him. “I know the Phenex family invited nearly all of the clans in the Underworld, including some of the Extra Devil Clans, but did Lady Mammon have to bring her filthy half-breed spawn with her…” A lady spoke up, the lady next to her echoing her opinions, “I don’t understand why she didn’t just kill them off when she had them… what a shame on her and her family.”
Hadrian was appalled at what he heard and noticed that many of the other devils present either agreed with those statements, made similar ones of their own, or simply said nothing. No-one spoke up in their defence, or anything.
Deciding that he’d make an example to how one should behave no matter your opinion he moved in the direction of Lady Mammon -as he’d heard the others call her- and her children.
“Lady Mammon, it’s nice to see you managed to make it tonight.” Hadrian greeted as soon as he was close enough, he noticed that the conversation around him died down a little as people noticed him speaking with the white-haired devil. “I do hope you and your children are enjoying yourselves?” he decided to ask.
Lady Mammon took a moment to look his over before she extended her hand, which Hadrian took and placed a light kiss upon one of her rings. “The party is… interested to say the least.” She said as she nodded at his actions and withdrew herself. “Allow me to properly introduce my children, these are the twins Rowan and Geneva Mammon.” As if it were a queue for them to act both children, despite them looking olden then him gave him a deep bow for Rowan and a deep courtesy for Geneva. He did notice however the sharp look in Lady Mammon’s eyes as if she were curious to his response.
“It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Hadrian said as he gave a small bow back before he extended his own hand for a handshake. “Hadrian Phenex.” He gave them a smile as Rowan took his hand. However, the instant they touched it was as if time had paused for them, and a connection formed between their minds.
Rowan frowned as he found himself standing in a white expanse, one moment he was at Hadrian Phenex’s birthday celebration and now he found himself here… what happened. Before him however the boy he just thought about appeared.
“Where am I?” Hadrian asked as he looked around before he saw Rowan standing before him. “Rowan! Do you know what this is?” however just as he asked both boys seemed to be assaulted by a strange headache as suddenly memories flew through their heads, their first meeting on the train, their adventures throughout their first years at Hogwarts all the way to a last dinner at the Weasley household before Harry’s last mission.
“Harry…?” Rowan suddenly asked in shock, the blonde looking shocked himself as he looked at the golden-eyed boy.
“…Ron?” He asked hesitantly.
Suddenly the two boys embraced each other in a tight hug, “I never thought I’d ever get to see you again! When Death or whatever it was made me and Ginny that offer to come over and we accepted we hoped we’d one day reunite but… look at us now!” Rowan or Ron said wetly tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
“So, he did make you the offer, I was so scared none of you would accept or that it had been a trick, so I’d accept the offer myself anyways…” Hadrian or Harry nearly sobbed.
Rowan shook his head with a laugh, “You know we wouldn’t just let you go that easily! You still haven’t seen the last of us yet.” Hadrian couldn’t help but grin as he pulled back to look at one of his best friends.
“You mentioned Ginny too, what about her? Did you already meet her?” Hadrian asked excitedly.
“You’ve met her as well; we were reborn as twins in this world… sadly she is the older one now though.” Rowan grinned at Hadrian’s astonished face. “We have to find a way to meet again outside of your party, but I’m not sure how we’ll do that.” The white-haired boy admitted.
Hadrian had a bit of an idea on that front, “Leave that part to me, it might take me a bit, but I think I can convince my parents to invite you and your sister over later this week or something.” And before either boy could say anything more, they were suddenly pulled back into their own bodies.
“Rowan?” Geneva spoke up as she shook her brother’s other arm as it looked like he dozen off with his eyes wide open.
“Sorry…” The boy suddenly said as he and Hadrian let go of one another, “I suddenly got lost in thought.” He felt like that was close enough to the truth that his mother would believe him at least. To Geneva however he slightly shook his head and mouthed the word ‘later’ as she looked at him questioningly.
“It’s no trouble,” Hadrian played off easily. “I’m just glad I got to meet both of you, maybe we could meet up somewhere in the future when it’s not so busy here.” He joked a little as he looked at Lady Mammon as if asked for permission before she herself nodded, that same glint from earlier still in her eyes.
“That would be fine by me so long as your parents agree of course Heir Phenex.” Lady mammon spoke as her children had turned to look at her as well.
“Of course, Lady Mammon, I will discuss it with them first. I hope I’ll be able to send you a positive response soon.” Hadrian agreed before he saw his mother from a small distance looking in his direction with a small bit of surprise on her face.
“I’m sorry, it looks like my mother was looking for me, please excuse me.” Hadrian said as he backed off with a final small bow before he made his way over to his mother.
His mother looked down at him as he stood next to her, “What were you talking about over there with Lady Mammon.” She asked him with a small smile on her face.
“I got a little curious with all the comments everyone kept throwing out about them.” He said as he looked pointedly as the gossiping crowd as his mother’s eyes sharpened knowing the Lady Mammon and how people viewed her and her children.
“And what did you think?” She asked.
Hadrian smiled softly, “I think… I think that they’re quite interesting.” He decided eventually as he and his mother set out to find his father.
