Jongho chuckled as he slipped his phone back into his bag, but his fun didn’t last long as he quickly reached for the car’s handrail before Wooyoung took an overly aggressive turn. He now understood why Yunho had sent him his best wishes before Wooyoung shoved him into his car because if Jongho had known and had any other choice, he wouldn’t have even stepped in.
“What are you laughing at?” Wooyoung asked when they stopped at the red light, but they didn’t sound upset; more curious than anything. Jongho smiled.
“Hongjoong told me to text him if I make it to school in one piece,” he teased, “but I told him that I’d be thankful if I even survived this.” Jongho laughed as he watched Wooyoung’s interested expression turn sour.
“None of you get me…” he grumbled as he quickly reached for his backpack and brought out the biggest water bottle that Jongho had ever seen in his life, and he immediately groaned when he realized what it was.
“I can’t believe you still have that…” he murmured before sighing. “You do realize that it’s meant for water, right?” His friend cackled before taking a long sip from it.
Jongho remembered almost as if it were yesterday, a fond yet also amusing memory when he looked back on it. A few years ago, during Wooyoung's 13th birthday, Hongjoong had gifted him that large water bottle along with several necklaces tucked into a gift bag that looked to be far too small for what it contained. He remembered Hongjoong playfully scolding his friend for not drinking enough water and not taking care of himself properly as he said something along the lines of "If you aren't going to do it, someone has to." Wooyoung had rolled his eyes at the remark but thanked his best friend nonetheless. Jongho, even back then, doubted if his older friends would actually use it, but oh how wrong he was. Unfortunately, none of Wooyoung's friends were probably expecting how he would use it.
“It’s convenient for me,” they replied with a grin.
Before Jongho could snap back at him, the stoplight switched to green, and he immediately held onto the handrail out of habit. His prediction proved to be correct as Wooyoung slammed on the gas pedal, speeding away.
