Errata and Retractions

Summary:

Deleted scenes and other minor related things from the rest of the series. Only lightly edited.

Notes:

This first chapter takes place during the first part of the third section of chapter seven of On the Origin of Triads, filling in the conversation that happened between Grace and Tedd in the basement (I had to write it out anyway, so might as well put it somewhere)

Chapter 1: The Basement Conversation

Chapter Text

The door at the top of the basement stairs shut, and Grace turned to Tedd.

“So… thoughts on polyamory?”

Tedd laughed weakly. “I, uh. I haven't exactly not thought about it. Just not really about Sarah.”

Grace's smile veered as close to a leer as she got. “Elliot?”

Tedd blushed. “Yeah.”

Grace crossed the room and gathered him into a hug. “I was waiting for you to say something, you know.”

Tedd nodded against her, keeping his head in the crook of her shoulder. “I had guessed. Sarah is a surprise, I've known her forever but never noticed something like this.”

“You've changed a lot just since I've known you,” she said, smiling into his hair. “Maybe she only has a crush on New Tedd.”

Tedd pulled back and grinned at her. “Maybe she only has a crush on Tedd dating a cute squirrel.”

Grace laughed, “It's true some people are more attractive when they're with someone. It can bring out a new side of them– Ashley's always been cute but ever since she's been dating Elliot she's been a lot more noticeable to me”

Tedd laughed gently. “I do want to hear more from Sarah about what changed, though it sounds like she might not know yet. But… what do we say to her?”

“How do you feel about her?” Grace asked.

“I…don't know. I've been trying so hard not to think of anyone other than you, and she's been my friend for so long… but now that I'm saying it, I guess we should have really just talked about it instead of assuming monogamy…” He trailed off, starting to get lost in thought.

Grace booped his nose to get his attention back. “Well, I have been thinking about it, and I would have brought it up soon if you hadn't, though Sarah beat both of us to it. I'm happy with just you forever Tedd, our friends have called me Tedd-sexual and they're not entirely wrong. But, I could see myself making out with any of our friends really. Even Justin if I was Mv5’d, even though it would be a bit awkward since I'm still a girl either way. I'm not sure about romance, but… I'm not sure I really understand romance? I feel more for you than for our other friends but I don't know if I feel different, if that makes sense. I like going on dates with you, but I also like doing things with friends, and that’s like a date but it’s not called a date? I’m still figuring out my feelings there” She smiled a little. “But in the end, I think I'm saying I'd be open to trying it, and as long as we all stay friends I'll be happy.”

Tedd took this in, nodding slightly. “I'm still working out how I feel. But I'm not immediately against it either and well… Sarah's pretty cute,” he said, the corner of his mouth quirking up and he looked his girlfriend in the eyes.

“She is , isn't she, and I know we've both noticed. Her butt is beautiful .”

Tedd laughed abruptly at the unexpected comment, but was forced to agree– the incident with the smell experiment was clearly on both of their minds. “So. Tell her we’re both not sure about our feelings and need a bit of time, but will probably be open to a date soon?”

Grace smiled down at him. “Sounds good. I'll go get her.”
