Chapter Text

Etheria, a planet nearly destroyed by Horde Prime a few minutes ago was now once again beautiful, vibrant, and powerful thanks to the magic of She-Ra.

It was surreal.

Almost unbelievable.

She did it.

She saved the world!

No one was chipped anymore, all of her friends made it out alive!

And best of all, the love of her life, her best friend was here standing beside her, taking it all in.

Adora turned her gaze back to Catra who was looking at her with love and admiration.

”It’s over.” Adora said as she held her girlfriend’s hand and looked into her beautiful eyes. “He’s gone.”

”Heh, good riddance.” Catra whispered back to Adora as she puts happily.

Just as the two were about to kiss again, they suddenly heard lot’s of laughter. Adora turned around to find her two other best friends Bow and Glimmer running up to them with the biggest smiles plastered on their faces. They tackled the girls down as they all laughed with joy knowing that they could finally live in peace.

”So, what are going to do now?” Bow asked.

”Anything we want! We can bring magic back to the universe.” Adora replied.

”What do you guys say to one more Best Friend Squad road trip?”

”I’m in!” Glimmer said excitedly.

”Obviously!” Bow replied.

”Of course I’m going with you dummy.” Catra smirks.

”Then let’s do this. Together!” Adora declares.

”Ok hold on a minute!” Bow interrupts. “I know this exciting and bringing magic back to the universe or something. I’m 100% on board with, but don’t you think we should relax and take it easy first? I mean we JUST defeated Horde Prime from destroying the world!”

”Oh come on!” Glimmer whines. “I’m not tired! I want another adventure!”

”Yeah come on Bow!” Adora agrees “The fight wasn’t THAT hard, in fact I could take out another threat right now!”

”Oh really?” Bow asks, not convinced by her words in the slightest.

”No.” Adora admits. “As much as I want to go on another adventure. I have never been more tired in my entire life!”

“Hah!” Catra laughs.

“Then it’s settled. We’ll stay in Brightmoon for a little while then travel the universe!” Bow declares. “We have all the time we want.”

”Ok ok!” Glimmer agrees.

”Let’s go home.”

Chapter Text

After everyone agreed to wait a while until the big adventure, Glimmer had everyone gather into a circle and told them to hold hands.

Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, there was a bright flash, a poof of sparkles, and suddenly everyone was in front of the royal castle in Brightmoon.

Although Catra has been in the kingdom for battles against the rebellion before, this was the first time she’s actually getting to see Brightmoon and all its glory.

Safe to say, Catra is shocked.

“THIS?! Is Brightmoon?!” Catra exclaimed with her mouth wide open in surprise.

“Yep sure is!” Glimmer replied. “Although, I thought the kingdom would be a bit more wrecked from Prime’s invasion. I guess the Moon Stone protected this place better than I thought it did!”

“It’s getting late.” Bow yawned, it was clear all of them were exhausted. “Oh! Catra do you want me to show you a guest room you could stay in?”

“Oh, yeah I guess-“

“Guest room? And here I thought you’d be sleeping with Adora!”

“GLIMMER!”

“What?! Come on Bow those two JUST got together and you wanna separate them again?!”

“That doesn’t matter! Did you ever consider maybe they don’t WANT to?! Think about boundaries Glimmer! Boundaries!”

Adora can’t bring herself to speak as her face flushed bright red, too stunned to speak.”

“I mean it’s not a big deal. After all, me and Adora shared a room at the Horde for years.”

“See?! She agrees with me! Off to bed you two!”

Adora and Catra take each others hands as they walk down the seemingly endless hallway trying to find there room.

“You’d really be ok with sharing a room again?” Adora finally gets the courage to ask.

”Duh! Wouldn’t be the first time.”

”Well I-I just mean we’d have to share a bed too! I only have one bed but I could sleep on the floor or-“

”Adora it’s fine. You do remember I slept in your bed every night in the Horde right?”

“I know, but things are different now.”

”Different?”

Adora can feel herself starting to blush again.

”Adora?”

She gave no response, her face still red.

”Oh well, either way I’m excited to see what your room looks like, you being a princess and all.”

“About that, would you mind waiting out here for a second?” Adora asks.

”Oh. Ok sure.”

“Thanks! I’ll be right out I promise!” And with that, Adora rushes into the bedroom without a second thought, slamming the door behind her.

”Ok! Ok! Ok! How should I make this a good welcome gift for Catra?” Adora thinks to herself.

“Oh! I know!”

Adora rushes around the bedroom and finds the perfect supplies: Bathroom towels.

”Perfect!” Adora thinks to herself. “Now let’s get started!”

Meanwhile, Catra is still waiting in the hallway when Melog approaches and sits down beside her.

”Hey Melog. What are you doing here?”

The giant cat simply licks her face in response.

Catra sighs her head hitting the wall.

”I can’t believe I’m actually here. I mean there was a time where I was trying to destroy this place. And now because of one good deed I’m here. I don’t feel like I deserve this! Like I should be rotting in a jail cell for my crimes ya know?”

Melog licks Catra’s face again the nuzzles into her neck and purrs softly.

”I know!” Catra laughs. “You sound just like Adora!”

”Catra!” Adora exclaims as she finally comes out of the bedroom! “Come on in it’s ready!”

Adora makes Catra close her eyes as they enter the bedroom, wanting her new girlfriend to be surprised when she opens them.

”Just keep your eyes closed ok?”

”Adora I swear, if Arrow Boy or Sparkles jump scare me I’m gonna-“

”Shhh, look you can open your eyes now.”

Catra opens her eyes to find that Adora took a bunch of bathroom towels to speed out “WELCOME HOME CATRA!” On the floor.

The feline’s heart flutters at the sweet gesture, but it also sinks at the same time. What had she done to deserve this? To have this incredible new home? To be loved by Adora? As all these thoughts crept into Catra’s head she could feel the tears prickling in her eyes.

Adora notices the sadness in her girlfriends eyes and is immediately concerned.

“Catra?! What’s wrong?! Is it too much?! I’m so sorry I just wanted you to feel at home-“

“No! It’s that it’s just… I-I promise I’ll do better now! I’ll prove myself to you I swear!” She can no longer hold her tears as she sobs openly into Adora arms.

Adora’s eyes widened, and she reached for her hands, squeezing them gently.

”Catra, listen to me.” Her voice taking a serious yet gentle tone. “You don’t have to prove anything. I know you’re trying, we all do some people might not be so quick to forgive you, but I promise they’ll come around.

Without a second thought Catra pulls Adora in her arms once more and wraps them in a tight embrace.

”Thank you Adora. For everything.”

”It’s nothing, come on let’s go to bed.

As the two girlfriends get changed into their pajamas they finally plop down on the bed after the hardest day of their lives.

” Oh I forgot how much I missed this bed! The ones on the ship were so ancient they felt like rock!” Adora says as she relaxes into the mattress.

”Wow princess, you sure get the royal treatment here! No wonder you stuck around!” Catra teased.

”Well YOU art wasting time getting comfortable either!”

”But seriously Catra, I’m really glad you’re finally here with me.”

”Yeah well, you were right. Everything‘s gonna be so different here, I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to it at all.”

Adora scoots closer to Catra and cups her hand to her check.

”Of course you will, and I’ll be here with you. Everyday.”

”Promise?”

”I promise.”

The two pull each other close for a passionate kiss as they cuddle next to each other and start to drift off.

”Goodnight, princess.”

”Goodnight Catra.”

Chapter Text

As the rays of dawn slipped through the windows of their shared bedroom, Catra began to stir as she realized she was alone in her bed.

A bit panicked at first she was relieved to have eventually found her girlfriend just a few feet away tying her hair up in her signature ponytail.

Adora glanced across the room and immediately noticed Catra was awake. Without a moment’s hesitation she walked over to their bed and pressed her lips gently against Catra’s forehead.

“Good morning.” Catra murmured, her voice still thick with sleep.

Adora sat beside her on the bed, wrapping one arm beside her girlfriend and giving her another kiss on her forehead.

”Good morning.” Adora said back to her. “Sorry for leaving you in bed alone.” She whispered as she leaned her head against Catra’s.

“It’s no big deal don’t worry about it.”

Adora sighed, leaning into Catra even more as she hesitantly replied, “Glimmer came in here earlier. She wants us both to attend a meeting with her and all the other princesses later today.”

Catra grumbled, clearly not wanting to spend her first day in Brightmoon in a meeting with a bunch of princesses.

”Ugh! Do we have to?” Catra complained.

Adora chuckled lightly, a playful glint in her eyes. “Unfortunately we do. Glimmer said it’s important.”

“Fine…”

As day the went into the afternoon Adora, Catra, Glimmer, and Bow began walking through the castle hallway together to attend the mandatory meeting.

”Ahhh another boring meeting of the alliance.” Adora sighed.

”I know, but my Dad wants us all to be there.” Glimmer explained.

”I’m surprised you convinced Catra to come!” Bow says to Adora with a playful smile.

”Don’t get used to it Arrow Boy this is a one time thing!” Catra snapped back.

”Ok! Ok! Let’s talk more after the meeting.” Adora said calmly as they walked into the room.

The gang saw all their friends surrounded at a table, obviously waiting for them. Bow took a seat next to Glimmer while Catra sat next to Adora. (Obviously)

“Thank you all for coming.” Micah said starting off the meeting. “I know you all have issues to solve about the rebuilding of your kingdoms, rest assured that is what we will be the main topic of this meeting.”

”Well for the most part Plumeria is doing ok, I just have a lot of trees, plants, and flowers that need to regrow.” Perfuma said.

“Well that’s great news for you flower princess!” Mermista said sarcastically. “But my kingdom has been in shambles and my people have been suffering ever since, Mermista glared at Catra and Hordak pointing fingers at both of them, “Those two destroyed it!”

Catra felt a pang of guilt in her stomach as she avoided the water princesses gaze.

”Don’t worry dearest!” Sea Hawk announced a lot louder than he should have. “We will have your kingdom back in tip top shape in no time!”

”Anyways!” Bow interrupted. “I’m sure we can find a good solution to repair all of the damage.”

”Actually I have an idea!” Entrapta chimed in. “Me and Wrong Hordak have been talking and we devised a plan that would not only help repair Etheria but it would also provide as sort of a community service act for Me, Catra, Scorpia, and Hordak! As a way paying our debts to society while also solving our main problem!”

”Interesting, please share your idea Princess Entrapta.” Micah replied.

”Certainly! The plan is that Me, Catra, Scorpia, and Hordak all pitch in and rebuild the kingdoms and all the other places in Etheria we destroyed. Seeing as we were all part of the Horde it seems only fitting that this is how we make it up to you!”

“Hey! That’s not a bad idea!” Glimmer agreed.

”I mean I guess it’s fair. We all did our share of damage while we were in the Horde I guess it’s time we got punished for it.” Catra sighs.

”Oh come on Wildcat! Don’t think of it as a punishment! Think of it as a project! Yeah an ‘I’m sorry’ project for our friends!” Scorpia suggested.

”Well I’m glad you have come up with a fair  and reasonable solution to this problem.” Micah said. “If there are no other questions  or concerns we can end the meeting.”

“Well ok, I want to get back home soon, let’s go Seahawk.”

“So, that was a productive meeting.” Adora said nervously after she and Catra got back into there room.

“Heh. Yeah well I guess I should’ve seen that coming.”

“What do you mean?”

”Oh come on! You didn’t really think Micah was gonna let me kick back and relax here after everything I’ve done did you?”

”Catra… listen, I know Micah doesn’t want to forgive you yet ever since he found how Angella passed… but Glimmer was able to forgive you and I’m sure in time he will too!” Adora said reassuringly.

”It’s not just Micah.” Catra sighed. “Mermista, Entrapta, Scorpia, all the people I’ve hurt in past. I never gave them a proper apology.”

Adora placed a soothing hand on Catra’s chest, her thumb brushing against her skin. “Well we’re all here now. If you felt like you haven’t made things right between them yet it’s up to you to do something about it.”

”I know.” Catra admitted, worry creeping into her tone. “As soon as I get the chance I’ll talk to them. All of them. Everyone. And  if some of them decide not to forgive me, I’ll understand.”

Adora gave her a gentle smile, reassuring her. “Everything is going to be fine Catra. Entrapta and Scorpia have already forgiven you. That shows you’re on the right track to redemption.”

Catra softened at Adora’s sincerity, her heart swelling with affection. “Thank you Adora, you always know how to make me feel better.”

Before Adora could say another word Catra pulled her in, her fingers curling around the collar of her shirt as she pressed her lips against Adora in a deep passionate kiss. It didn’t take long for Adora to respond, her arms instinctively wrapping themselves around Catra’s waist and pulling her closer.

Catra’s hands slid up her back, fingers threading through her hair as they both kissed each other with equal passion, the world outside fading away as they lost themselves in each other’s embrace.

As they finally pulled away both of them were breathless as they rested their foreheads against each other.

”I love you, Catra.”

“I love you to Adora.”

Chapter Text

It’s been like this for days.

Everyday Catra would wake up next to Adora, they would have breakfast together, and then Catra would have to leave with Scorpia and Entrapta to help rebuild Mermista’s kingdom while Adora stayed back in Brightmoon and work with the rest of the Princess Alliance.

Rebuilding.

Rationing.

Planning.

Day after day.

But it wasn’t the repetition that bothered Catra.

It was simply the fact that she had promised herself that as soon as she saw Scorpia, Entrapta, and Mermista she would give them a real heartfelt apology.

And over the course of the five days and nights she has done nothing but be around them and associate with them. She has yet to do so.

Not because she didn’t want to. Of course she wanted to apologize to them it’s the only thing that’s been on her mind for days!

But every time she tried, every time she worked up the courage… she just couldn’t.

What could she possibly say to make things right between all of them?!

She was downright cruel to Scorpia during their time in the Horde together. Verbally abusing her and ordering her around left and right when the princess had done nothing but be kind to her.

She manipulated Entrapta into betraying her friends, used her as a pawn in her twisted game of revenge, and then went right around and betrayed her to, electrocuting her until she lost consciousness and sending her to a secluded island to die.

And she destroyed a whole entire kingdom filled with innocent civilians destroying many lives in process.

No. She might has well save her breath. There is no apology in the world that could make up for what she did.

But… if she never apologizes, how are they supposed to know she’s sorry?

As she laid awake one night with a sleeping Adora next to her, Catra realized it didn’t matter if the princesses never forgave her. She wouldn’t blame them at all if they didn’t. She just needed them to know how sorry she was.

And she would finally tell them that.

Tomorrow.

As the sun rose up from the sky signaling it was the next day Catra and Adora continued their daily routine, but today Catra knew this time it would be different.

As the hours went on Catra was helping with reconstruction and building waiting for the perfect moment to talk to the three.

And finally, it came.

”Alright everyone!” Mermista announced, “Time for your lunch break! Be back in an hour!”

This was it.

The perfect moment.

It’s now or never.

“Wait!” Catra called out alerting the other the princesses. “Can I talk you guys for a second.”

The three exchanged confused glances, what would Catra want to talk about?

After what seemed like forever Scorpia finally said: “Of course! What do you wanna talk about?”

The princesses walked over to Catra who had a serious look on her face, trying to figure out what to say.

”This is it. Don’t back out now.” She thought to herself.

Catra took a deep breath before finally getting the courage to say:

”I’m sorry. Look I know I’ve already technically apologized to you two.” Catra said pointing at Scorpia and Entrapta.

“But that wasn’t good enough. I barely said anything and you both just automatically forgave me and I don’t deserve that. Not after how shitty I’ve been to everyone.”

Scorpia wanted to just rush up and hug her. It was clear her friend was upset, but for now she decided to just back off and let her finish.

”So… I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. To all of you. For everything.”

”Scorpia, I’m sorry I wasn’t the friend you deserved. You were always so nice and willing to help me and I just pushed you away. You were right I am a bad friend. But I promise I’m going to get better at this friendship thing… for you.”

”Entrapta, I’m sorry for betraying you. At first, I treated you like you were nothing but a tech girl I could use to make inventions for the Horde. Then I saw how Hordak favored you and got jealous, but you still tried to help me see what I was doing was wrong and I-I just zapped you without a second thought and sent you away. And worst of all I lied to Hordak about it making you seem like you betrayed us! I know what I did to you was awful and there’s not enough words to express how much I regret it but I need you to know I’m sorry.”

”And finally… Water Prince- ahem! Sorry, Mermista… I’m sorry for attacking your kingdom. I didn’t even know you or have anything against you, but I just did it anyway because you were a princess fighting on the opposite side of a war and I had no right to do that. I’m gonna do everything in my power to help rebuild your kingdom and make it better than it ever was before! It’s least I could do after all I’ve done.”

Mermista had a look of surprise on her face never expecting to hear this from Catra. Meanwhile Entrapta and Scorpia looked as if they were on the verge of tears also not expecting this from her.

“I know I don’t deserve it.” Catra said her voice breaking, tears running down her face. “But all I want is your forgiveness and for you to understand how sorry I am.”

”I’m sorry.”

“I’m so sorry.”

But to Catra’s surprise, she saw Entrapta and Scorpia run up to her and pull her into a tight embrace.

”Oh Wildcat… I always knew you’d come around. We both forgave you ages ago you didn’t have to do this.”

“Yes I did. I have no idea why you two forgave me so easily and so quickly, but I knew you guys deserved a proper apology and I wanted to give it to you.”

”Catra…” Entrapta began to say. “We forgave you because we already knew how sorry you were, you didn’t need to say anything it was written all over your face. And ever since you got to Brightmoon we’ve also saw you doing everything you can to make up for what you’ve done. We know how hard you’re trying and that alone let us all know how sorry you are and how you want to change. That’s why we forgive you.”

“You.. forgive me?”

”Of course we do!” Scorpia chimed in. “The Super Pal Trio is back together and better than ever!”

Catra chuckled at the dumb friend group name but was relieved they were officially friends again.

Mermista slowly walked over to the trio obviously wanting to speak with Catra.

”Hey so like not wanting to interrupt your little friendship reconciliation thingy but… I liked your apology. I can’t say I forgive you yet but I guess it’s a start.”

”Thanks Mermista, you wanna go inside for some lunch?”

”Ugh! Yes! I’ve been dying to get inside all day! It’s literally sooo hot out here! Remind me to give you three a raise later!”

”You weren’t paying us to begin with but ok!”

The group laughed at the remark as they headed inside, another step in the right direction.

Notes:

First post of the new year! Sorry I know there’s not a lot of Catradora in this, but trust me in the next chapter there will be plenty!

Chapter Text

A chill runs down her spine as her lungs tighten, stealing her breath as she stands there awaiting her inevitable fate.

Green.

It’s Green everywhere.

She looks down as her fears are confirmed when she sees nothing but clones gathered  around her all she could her was the loud chanting “Cast out the shadows! Cast out the shadows!” As she stood before the green pool in front of her.

Everyone has a use in my empire.

You will be of use to me yet. A loud voice boomed in her head.

And with that she feels herself get pushed into the acid-like waters.

Pain.

Pain!

PAIN!

It’s torture. It’s agony. Every nerve in her body is on fire. It feels like she’s dying.

White hot pain rips throughout her entire body so violently it chokes off the scream in her throat as she lunges her hands up wildly desperately trying to reach the surface.

It doesn’t work.

Down.

Down.

Down.

”Cast out the shadows! Cast out the shadows!”

Panic washes over her when suddenly dozens of images pass through her mind.

Images she did not want to see.

The battle of Brightmoon.

The portal.

All the fights and battles with the woman she loved more than anyone or anything.

Prime was making her relive it all.

Do you see now little sister? I see your mind. So ensnared in rage and grief and pain. It hurts so terribly and you desperately want to forget. Fear not. I shall help you, guide you as you are brought into the light.

”No…” She mutters, she’s not like that anymore that’s not her she never wants to be that girl in the horde again. But Prime was about to make into something so much worse.

”No no no I don’t want to- please don’t-“ she says breathlessly but she’s cut off as searing pain rips through her body again silencing her.

She was sinking.

”Catra!”

She was sinking further and further down.

”Catra come on! Wake up!

There was nothing she could do as the darkness surrounded her.

”Catra wake up! It’s ok! You’re safe!”

And threatened to swallow her whole.

”Catra!”

Catra shot up in bed with an ear piercing scream, panting heavily as she took in her surroundings. Her was pounding. She felt hot and cold all over, but she was in bed, and warm bed with a person beside her.

Adora.

She was all right. She was in bed with Adora in Brightmoon. Adora was here. Catra wasn’t sinking, she wasn’t back on that awful ship with Prime. She was free. She was safe.

”Catra,” Adora said, still watching Catra with a concerned look on her face, “you were having a nightmare, can you remember where you are?”

Catra turned to Adora and pulled the blonde into her arms, hugging her tight as if she was going to suddenly disappear.

She feels so pathetic for needing Adora so badly at a time like this. She shouldn’t need Adora to console her everyone her brain decides to torture her in her sleep, bringing back bad memories. This was the 3rd time this week she had woken Adora up with her bad dreams and she felt terrible for it. Adora needed her sleep to, she can’t keep burdening her with her problems every night.

Adora would always tell Catra otherwise, that she doesn’t mind being by her girlfriend’s side and that she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Adora’s presence was a soothing balm during these moments, a reassurance that everything was ok. Or rather as ok as things could be, given everything they’d been through.

And Catra really needs that right now no matter how much she tries to tell herself otherwise.

“Deep breaths. It’s ok. You’re ok.”

They both sat on the bed for a while as Catra desperately tried to calm herself down while Adora stroked her hair and whispered words of reassurance in the feline’s ear.

In and Out. In and Out. Catra told herself over and over again.

She was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt something brush up against her leg. She let out a yelp and scooted closer to Adora trying to get away from whatever was coming to her.

”It’s ok Catra. It’s only Melog. She can sense whenever you’re upset remember?”

Catra looked down and sure enough Melog was standing beside her and staring at her with big, concerned eyes. Even with the anxiety and fear still coursing through her veins, Catra formed a faint smile and reached a shaky hand over to pet her head.

A loud purr erupted from the large cat as Catra began scratching her behind the ear and in that moment. All the fear started to slowly go away.

”Are you ok?” Adora asks again as she presses a soft kiss to Catra’s forehead.

”Yeah I’m fine it was just a nightmare.” Catra answered, shaking her head dismissively. “Wasn’t the worst nightmare I’ve had I’ll be fine.”

Adora’s eyebrows pulled into a concerned frown as she reached a hand out to cup Catra’s cheek, stroking it gently.

”It doesn’t have to be the worst to still affect you babe.”

Catra rolled her eyes playfully has she buried her face in Adora’s chest. Just trying to forget it all.

”Do you wanna talk about?” Adora asked.

Catra had refused to talk about her nightmares the last 2 times she had one. But now, they were getting worse and she needed to talk about it.

”It was back on Horde Prine’s ship,” She began to explain. “he found out I freed sparkles and I was back in that room with the green pool and he pushed me in, and all the memories of the horrible stuff I did was just flashing through my mind. The clones kept chanting, Prime was speaking to me in my head a-and the pain oh god! Adora i-it hurt so much it-“

She stopped herself. Catra could feel herself getting worked up again, tears were threatening to escape her eyes as her breathing got quicker again. Adora pulled Catra in her arms and starts stroking her hair again.

”You’re safe now. It was just a nightmare.”

”It wasn’t just a nightmare.” Catra whispered against Adora. “It was a memory.”

”I know. I know. But he can’t hurt you anymore. We’re safe now. No one is going to hurt you again, I’ll do everything in my power to make sure of that.” Adora reassures.

Catra closes her eyes and lets the terrors of the night go away with Adora’s voice in her ear making her feel better like she always has.

”I’m sorry I woke you up.”

”Don’t apologize, I want to help you through this.”

After a couple more minutes went by Catra finally said something that’s been on her mind all night.

”So…babe huh?”

”What?”

”Earlier tonight, you called me babe.”

”I did?”

“Yep.”

”Oh…that’s right I did. Well… did you like it?”

”Like what?”

”Me calling you babe.”

”Yeah, I did like it. You think I’m a babe?”

”Oh..” Adora grinned as she began placing soft kisses and Catra’s neck. “you’re so much more than a babe. You gorgeous.”

Catra felt a blush creep onto her face when she said that. “Well thanks, but you can call me babe if you want. I liked it. I really did.”

”Well you call me princess so I thought I should call you a pet name too. Babe’s all I got for now but I’m thinking of others.”

”Others?”

”You got it baby cakes.”

”Ew no I hate that.”

”Ok understood. Ixnay on that nickname sugarplum.”

”Ew! That one’s worse!”

”Sorry ‘bout that darling.”

”Ok stop it. Please.”

“Stop what lovebug?”

”Seriously stop.”

”I don’t know what you’re talking about honeybunch.”

”Ok I’m now convinced you’re doing this just to annoy me.”

”Awww what gave it away hot stuff?”

”Adora!” Catra scolded, but she and her girlfriend couldn’t help but bust out into fits of laughter after that last nickname.

”You are absolutely ridiculous!” Catra manages to get out between laughs.

”Maybe I am but you feel better don’t you?”

”Oh absolutely.” Catra said sighing happily. “I know it took a while for me to open about my dreams to you and I’m sorry. But I’m glad I finally told you tonight.”

”I’m glad you told me to.” Adora replied. “But I understand why it took you so long it can be tough to talk about this sort of thing, but I’m glad you opened up eventually.”

”Thanks, but this is supposed to be a fresh new start in our relationship. Adora, let’s promise each other that from now on any time we have nightmare, or a bad memory, or just having bad day that no matter what we’ll talk to each other ok?”

Adora smilies at this and pressed another kiss to Catra’s forehead. “I promise.”

That would soon prove to be much easier said than done.

It was about a week and half since that promise was made and so far both Adora and Catra were doing very well in keeping it.

Anytime they were overworked, stressed, or having a bad day they would go to the other person and instantly feel better.

Until on night when that changed.

She was standing just few feet away from her, arms reached out ready to take her trembling hand and escape out of this ship together. Everything was going to be fine.

”Adora-“

But then her hand retracted away from her as she groaned in pain clutching her head in her hands. Then suddenly, she stood straight up again, only this time her eyes weren’t that beautiful blue and yellow Adora loved to look into.

They were green.

Bright green.

”Disappointing. Some creatures are destined only for destruction.”

And with that there was a sudden shook of electrical charge coming from the chip causing the love of her life the scream in pain and fall from the ledge.

”NO!”

She jumped down after her not caring how long the drop was, she just needed to catch her, to save her.

She landed with a thud as her body screamed in pain from the drop. But she didn’t care. For she saw Catra lying just a few feet away from her.

She crawled to her body as fast she could cradling Catra in her arms as soon as she got to her.

”Catra? C-Catra? It’s ok. I’m here.” She said with broken sob as she dropped her head to the feline’s chest desperately trying to hear something. Her breathing. Her heartbeat. Anything.

But there was nothing.

Catra. Her best friend. The love of her life. Was dead in her arms.

And Adora never got the chance to tell her how much she loved her.

”No…No No Catra please baby you have to wake up…please. I need you. I love you.”

Adora screamed in pain clutching Catra’s body as tears poured down her face.

”No..no…” she couldn’t help but say as she sobbed.

Suddenly, the clones surrounded the two and it was clear possessed one of them and he was saying something. But Adora couldn’t hear him over the sound her own cries.

She desperately tried to activate She-Ra to hope that she was somehow still in there and she could use her magic to heal the love of her life.

But she couldn’t no matter how hard she tried.

She felt the clones try to drag her away from Catra’s body but she screamed and fought in the process. They couldn’t take away what little she had.

”Let me go!” She screamed. “You can’t take her away from me! I need her!”

There is nothing you can do now.

“No no no! Catra, I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” She screamed, tears falling faster then ever.

And that’s when everything went black.

With a start, Adora jerked awake, gasping for breath as she sat bolt upright in bed. Catra heard her girlfriend’s heavy breathing and was instantly awake, sitting up beside her, concern etched into her features.

”Adora?” Her voice was soft but there was still a hint of worry in it.

“She’s here. With me. She’s alive.” Adora thought to herself.

Adora looked at her, her breath still ragged but no words came out of her mouth which made Catra even more worried.

”Are you ok?” Catra’s fingers found her face as she pressed their foreheads together. Adora’s grip tightened around her, her fingers trembling with fear.

Slowly, Adora pulled back, there eyes meeting each other as Adora saw the concern in her girlfriends face.

She didn’t deserve to be troubled by this. It was her dream. Her problem. Not Catra’s. She would do anything in power to make sure Catra never had any problems or burdens again.

Even if that meant breaking her promise.

Adora cupped her cheek gently and pulled her into an embrace. Just wanting to be closer to her.

”Are you ok?” Catra asked again.

Adora nodded subtly, forcing a smile. “I’m fine babe I just thought I heard something outside.”

Catra frowned, unconvinced. “Seemed like more than that, you looked really freaked out when I woke up.”

”Catra I’m fine, seriously.” Adora insisted, although she felt terrible for lying to Catra she knew things would be better if she didn’t know.

But Catra knew her girlfriend too well to be fooled. “You know if something’s bothering you I’m here whenever you need me right? You can tell me anything.”

”I know that. But it was just me being paranoid that’s all.” She assured leaning in to press a kiss on Catra’s forehead. “Just go back to sleep babe I promise everything is ok.”

Reluctantly, Catra let it go sensing whatever was bothering Adora was something she didn’t want to talk about and they both snuggled up against each other ready to go back to bed.

Adora waited until she positive Catra was asleep again before she pressed another kiss to forehead. “I’m sorry. But this is my problem not yours. I love you too much to bring you down when you’re already struggling. I’ll do anything to protect you from that.” She whispered.

And Adora meant every word.

Notes:

Hey I’m back! Hope you liked this chapter! This is my take on the common nightmare trope!

I promised you more Catradora in the last chapter and I always keep my promises! Unlike some people in this fic…

Seriously though the main reason I wanted to do this was because I feel very strongly that if this series continued Adora would grow very protective of Catra following the events from Horde prime and just wants her to be happy and she feels the only way to do that is to help Catra with her problems and ignore her own.

(I’m definitely not creating any future conflict and angst between the two by making that decision I don’t know what you’re talking about!)

Anyways I’ll see yall in the next chapter! Byeeee!

Notes:

That’s it for chapter 1! Sorry, I know it’s kind of short. I promise the chapters from now on will be a little bit longer! Chapter 2 coming soon! Prepare for more Catradora!
