Chapter Text
Mitsuki was peacefully laying on the couch, just watching a movie, which she just knew the name of; The Grinch, and enjoying the silence of the sunday. Joe and Kanna were both down at the record store just doing the habitual errands and chatting with the regulars who decided to stop by and now they were way too entertained, Mitsuki could even hear their voices as they shared stories, hot takes on music, some recommendations, etc.
She sighed and looked for her phone, wondering what time it would be, and quickly she found out it was just 5:32pm, she rolled her eyes and sighed once again, wondering if a certain girl with pink hair texted her, spoiler; she didn´t. .
Not that it was that important to her… at all, nor was it like she had been checking that for the last two days because Aya just sent her 3 texts instead of the usual spam of 100, if not more. Worst part? All three texts were about Aya excusing herself because she would be able to show up to the record store, no further information was given and Mitsuki was way too nervous to ask.
Well, maybe Aya wanted some space, maybe it was about time she needed to catch a break from her? Ugh, the guitarist really needed her head smashed against the wall and also some mental clarity, the first thing mostly
She huffed and tried to concentrate on the movie, the keyword: tried. Every second a flash of her smile appeared in front of her eyes, the soft sound of her laugh sent a shiver down her spine and the continuous storm of memories and imagens came right to her. She didn't even need to close her eyes to see as clear as day the pink curls bouncing softly and framing that angelical face, oh god, that face. Mitsuki could get lost at the mere thought of her face, soft and tender cheeks, that comforting and fierce smile, then that god-like sculpted nose, and then, those eyes… What could she say? It would be a insult to say that Aya´s eyes could be captured by just mere words, her eyes were as bright as the summer sun, as comforting as the first spring flower, as fresh as the taste of fruit, as vivid as the ocean and as deep as anything could go, among anything Mitsuki had done, trying to not get lost in Aya´s eyes was by far the hardest.
A soft giggle escaped her lips as she recalled various details about her girlfriend, yes, her girlfriend. Among all the people, Aya had chosen Mitsuki Koga, the literal definition of a weirdo, a loser lesbian if you may, to be her girlfriend, uh miracles do happen no?
A buzz came from the screen and she almost dropped it by surprise, rapidly she rushed to check who was, and oh the disappointment she felt when the “Narita” contact was revealed with an incoming call.
“Shit.” She whispered before accepting it. “Good afternoon Narita-san.” She greeted, as if she wasn't very much disappointed by the false alarm.
“Girl you sound straight up ass dead, what´s up?” He guessed.
Fuck, Narita was really perceptive about people around him. Don´t get her wrong, Mitsuki loved her friend, but she wasn't feeling her lesbian depression to him, not at the moment. “Just… things you know?”
“I don´t know, that's why I'm asking… duh” He remarked, giggling shortly to add later, with a more worried tone. “Koga-san, you know I'm here for you if you need to talk, and I know it's kinda hard to open up but you sound more than a little concerned by something, and as your best friend, that concerns me too!”
A knot that was making itself notice a few seconds ago, was now almost gone as Narita spoke with so much care and concern about Mitsuki. God he was a good friend, by lots the best she ever had, and she did definitely owned him a smoothie by being such a good friend even when she didn't want him to be. “Well, you know Oosawa-san…”
“Ajam…” He affirmed quickly, waiting for Mitsuki to continue.
“And you know she's my girlfriend,”
“Koga, did you know the sky's blue? Be fucking real and go to the point, please.” The boy begged, growing impatient at the delaying of what was tormenting his friend.
“Well, she texted me friday at 7:15pm that she wouldn't be able to hang out this weekend and she wouldn't either come to the record store, and she hasn't talked to me since then.” She said finally, and she could literally hear her friend sighting at the other end. “What?”
“Have you asked her why?” He said with a sudden empty, tired voice.
“No, I just wanted to respect her privacy and-” she was cut off by Narita before she could finish her sentence.
“And have you texted her? Called her maybe? Or asked if you could pass by her place?” He added immediately, already aware that she had not done even one. Silence gave him the confirmation and Mitsuki was beyond embarrassed. “Yeah, see you tomorrow, I had some tea but it can obviously wait ´till you solve your lesbian crisis. Love ya, girl.” And just like that he hung up.
Okay, she had to do some things, various actually, because now Aya must think she didn´t care enough, thinking back to it, it was so awful how little Mitsuki cared for the matter, so she needed to make up for it.
Not a second did she think before grabbing her phone, her keys and wallet before rushing out of the apartment. “Kanna-san, please tell the old man I´ll come back in a couple hours, I'll explain later!” She explained briefly before running to the street, already knowing her first stop, but before she quickly called the number she knew by heart, the call rang as she jogged through the street, looking for the front she had in mind, and just when she stopped by the flower shop, a familiar voice came from the other end.
“Koga-san?” The voice was soft, lacking from the usual energy, it was almost drained from life. It ached Mitsuki´s heart to listen.
“Aya-san, are you at your house right now?” She tried to shallow the deep concern that was growing inside her, then as she waited a couple seconds, she pointed to the florist the bouquet of flowers she needed.
“I- well I mean yes, but like-” the other girl answered, and then added, as Mitsuki watched the florist give her the bouquet, a beautiful combination of pink, purple and white. “Why? Something happened?”
Ouch, her voice made Mitsuki wanna run towards her and hug her tightly, but it´ll have to wait. “Can I drop by? I have a surprise for you, sunshine.” Before she could realize it, she had already said it. It was a nickname she mentally gave Aya since the day they met, but saying it outloud to her… was something else.
“I- yes, ofcourse, I mean- I´d love to-” She shuttered, the guitarist could perfectly picture a blushing Aya who was trying to not embarrass her even more, and all at the same the older girl giggled, oh god what a beautiful sound, really had to be Mitsuki´s favorite.
“Perfect, I´ll be there in like… ten?” She said nervously, as she paid for the bouquet and left the place, looking for her next stop.
“What?” Aya´s voice cracked in surprise, Mitsuki pictured the girl with her eyes wide open and that nervous smile, how cute she had to look right now. “I have to get ready and that's not enough time!” The girl complained and the guitarist could almost hear the pout that adorned her lips.
“Don´t worry about that, I think that's the point of being a surprise.” She added with a grin and felt that warm feeling growing inside her as she heard the sigh at the other end. “See you in a second.”
A soft laugh was heard and afterwards was added, “I can't wait for it.” And then it ended, and Mitsuki had to focus again in her search.
She was already in front of the door of the second stop before she realized it, and she entered the bakery immediately, not wasting a second.
“Goodnight, what can I serve you?” The young boy with the funny-looking-chef hat said, warmly greeting her to the already familiar place, as she had already come here various times for some errands, but she never had the idea of this kind before.
“Hello, can you please give me a red velvet cupcake, a chocolate croissant and five macaroons?” She asked with a determined look, waiting patiently for her order to be taken. The guy nodded and shortly after gave her the bill to be cancelled, she paid and waited for a couple of minutes before a box full of pastries was revealed to her. “Thank you so much, have a good night.”
“Thank you, same to you!” The guy replied and Mitsuki continued for a couple blocks until her last stop, just a block away from her girlfriend´s house.
She entered the place, one bouquet in one hand and a box of pastries in the other hand. The woman, who already knew her, didn't shudder before asking rapidly. “Plushie?”
“Please, which ones do you have?” She nodded and inquired, putting down the thing to get a better look at the box the lady was taking out to show her.
“Teddy bear, the classic you know? Then we have the duck, cute and something more unique, also the panda if you want a classic but not so used,” the lady describes as she took out one by one the options, but none seemed to convince the guitarist. “And after all, this one I see more for your lady, a bunny…”
It was a cute little white bunny with pink details, it was so… Aya, even the big pink ears reminded Mitsuki of her hair and the way she used it to hide her face on occasions. “It's perfect. I'll take it!”
“So I thought. With a bow I assume?” She guessed, already preparing the red bow around the bunny's neck.
“Thank you so much.” She said before paying for the plushie and accommodating all the stuff on her arms. “Bye, thank you!” She said as she crossed the door and heard the reply as she took out her phone and looked at the time, just in time she found herself standing in front of the door, ready to knock.
She softly knocked the door and heard a couple voices, voices she knew too well, shouting for Aya. As Mitsuki heard footsteps growing louder she took a deep breath and prepared herself with a nervous smile.
“Koga-san?” The door was opened and revealed, what was to Mitsuki, and angel. THe pink haired girl was standing with a very confused smile, her hair in a messy bun, and in her favorite set of pajamas, the sick and tired look she had for a second started to disappear as she started to blush, probably matching Mitsuki as she shyly offered the bouquet, the little bunny and the pastries box, but before Aya accepted them, she launched herself at her girlfriend's arms, making Mitsuki to balance to avoid falling. “Thank you so much, my love…” She said between kisses she started to leave across the guitarist's face, which started to burn with a crimson tone as she gladly accepted the kisses and hummed in response.
“Mom! Aya is suffocating Koga-san!” One of the voices she already recognized said, it was one of Aya´s brothers, but she could not yet recognize them perfectly.
The sister in cuestion turned back to look at them and muttered something that Mitsuki could not hear properly, then she turned to her girlfriend again with a big flushred smile and invited her inside as she took the flowers and left a soft, tender, sweet kiss on her cheek. “Please come inside, I'll put these in water real quick.”
She limited herself to obey her girlfriend and entered the house, closing the door behind her back and walking behind the older girl towards the kitchen, where she found the two little brothers and Aya's mother. “Good evening Ms.Oosawa, sorry for the sudden interruption.” She greeted the woman and patted the little kids who looked at her.
“What interruption? You are always welcomed here, I was starting to worry about you, and look how you appear, aren't you an angel?” The older woman said with a giggle escaping from her, smiling warmly to Mitsuki and offering that look that reminded her so much of her girlfriend. “How are you lately? How's your uncle and aunt? You should really come to eat dinner here with them some time.”
“We'd love to, they are right now at the record store, everything's going great. How about you?” She replied nervously, it was not the first time that she talked with Aya's mom, but it was always something big to her as she wanted to keep up the good impression.
“Oh, that's great to hear! I´m missing you, my baby hasn't been bringing you home lately and when she does she keeps you all day in her room! We miss seeing you around, and the boys also miss playing with you.” The woman said with a smile, joking lighty, making Mitsuki feel a little less anxious. “But you know, you should definitely come more often, and maybe I can show you some pictures of when Aya was just a baby! Oh! Also we definitely need to take some pictures for the family album!
“Mom!” Aya appeared behind the kitchen door, with the flowers in a vessel and as she put them down Mitsuki realized how much she had blushed in so little time, god how she loved her girlfriend.
“What? If you don't invite your girlfriend over, I will. At least you made such a good choice with my dear Mitsuki.” Now it was Mitsuki´s turn to blush, it was flattering but it also made her even more nervous.
Aya shared a glance with her mom before looking towards her girlfriend and pulling her up from where she had just sat down. “Okay mom, now if you excuse us…” And she started pulling her upstairs.
“A pleasure to talk to you, Ms.Oosawa, thank you.” She rushed to say before disappearing upstairs, across the stairs she walked so many times and the hallway she had known for a couple months. “So, hi.” She said, trying to break the silence as her girlfriend guided her to her room.
“Wait a second, baby.” Aya said, making the taller girl blush, blush hard, like really hard as she kept silence as she had been told to. As Mitsuki was too focused on the petname her girlfriend had used, she harshly realized that the hallway had been replaced with walls covered in posters and photographs, along with shelves filled by CDs and vinyls, and of course the drawers filled with clothes and makeup that were by the contrary side of the bed which was at the corner of the room by a window that at the moment let by the last bits of sunlight.
Mitsuki quickly decided to put down the bunny and pastries on the drawer and sat by the girl on the bed, before she could even open her mouth, pink curls surprised her as Aya jumped right into her arms and snuggled to her neck, breathing and causing Mitsuki to smile adoringly. How could one person cause so many complex emotions inside her heart but also calm her so easily? She had been worried all weekend but the moment she had her into her arms it was like nothing happened.
She decided it was for the best to stay still, hold Aya tightly and kiss her head as she rubbed her back, trying to communicate how much she had missed her, how much she wanted to see her, to feel her, to be with her.
“I’ve missed you so much.” The girl moved and pink eyes were staring at Mitsuki’s grey ones. She felt the honesty in Aya’s words and could notice the way her eyes had started to water so lightly.
“I know, I have missed you too, so much, like you can’t actually imagine…” Mitsuki started speaking, kissing the tip of Aya’s nose, feeling how the normally warm skin was cold, but she just kissed it once again before adding; “I own you an apology, I had this idea that if you didn’t text me was because you wanted space, but I didn’t consider calling or checking in, and I’m so sorry for that because I was dying without you, you can’t imagine how bad I wanted to call you or text you or even appear by your door just like this but I wanted to respect your privacy and now that I think of it, I was just being stupid and stubborn but I was just expecting for your message and, well, I’m sorry for not asking what happened, I have realized that it was not the best idea and-“ before she could finish her apology, because yes, there was more, a pair of hands cupped her face and pulled her for a kiss, soft, slow, passionate, and amongst all, it was a sign of understanding, their way of saying “I know what you wanna say”
“I know, I’m just glad you came here.” Aya whispered, her forehead resting against Mitsuki’s. “Thank you so much, my love, you are truly the best girlfriend ever.” She added later, pulling Mitsuki to lay down on the bed together, looking at each other deep into the eyes.
Wow, god. If she had to do all these stops to be like that everyday… she would do it in a blink. “I love you, Aya-san.” She whispered without realizing the words escaping her mouth, but she meant it wholeheartedly.
Aya started to match with her hair as the confession sinked in and she snuggled in Mitsuki’s neck, mumbling something under her breath, something the guitarist couldn’t catch, and seconds later Aya appeared once again to look directly at her eyes with those beautiful pink pearls, she heard. “I love you too, Koga-san.”
Mitsuki couldn’t be able to tell who closed the distance finally, but she can say that she ended up kissing Aya Oosawa, everything she could think of was the soft lips, sweet scent in the air and her girlfriend.
Nothing would ever feel as good as that, nothing would ever calm her as much as Aya playing with her hair, or nothing would ever be as special as the moments they would share listening music together, or nothing could ever compare to the happiness that she felt every time that she would look into Aya’s eyes and hear her name being called out so lovingly as they said to each other “I love you” as they lay down together.
They didn’t move for what felt like an eternity but just a second, it was a perfect moment, but as everything, it has to come to an end. “So, what happened?” Mitsuki broke the spell, curiosity was stronger than her after all.
“Oh, that…” Pink eyes darted away from Mitsuki and a nervous laugh came with that warm smile that Mitsuki liked a little too much. “I probably shouldn't have kissed you.”
Mitsuki’s face formed into a confused expression, as one would expect in such a situation. “Uh?” Was all she could form.
“I mean, I’m sick, that’s why I didn’t visit you, and also why I haven’t texted you or in general gave signs of life…” The older girl tried to laugh it off as she looked away. “I didn’t mean to worry you, but I dis think that if I didn’t tell you it would be better because you wouldn’t get worried by me being sick and it would all be back to normal by monday, but you know, I spent the last two days sleeping...”
“Oh, oh!” Mitsuki put 1 plus 1 and her world didn’t explode, her heart could, and also her immune system apparently.
“Yeah…” The older girl waited a couple seconds, knowing how her girlfriend was.
“You know?” Mitsuki started, smiling, but the tip of her ears showed how nervous she was as she spoke. “People say that if you pass it to someone else, you get better.”
“Oh yeah?” Aya smiled, playing with a loose black hair, as she leaned closer to the guitarist, who stared at her adoringly. “So, if I’ve already passed it to you, I better get the job well done.” And so, she leaned in closer and closer, taking the breath out of Mitsuki’s mouth, giving her a kiss. It wasn’t a rushed kiss, it was tender, soft, slow, passionate and it meant more words than they could ever say.
The bunny and pastries would have to wait a little more than expected, as they were long forgotten as the girls found themselves lost in their own world. Good thing that Mitsuki decided to tell Kanna that she would take some time to go back.
Chapter Text
“Ugh!” Aya groaned, feeling a knot forming down her throat as she waited for a response. It felt like going around circles. She arrived from school, changed into casual clothes and had lunch, after that she had been calling and texting Mitsuki.
Mitsuki was probably very busy, and that’s why she wasn’t answering neither her texts nor calls.
Or maybe even she had fallen asleep, it was 6:58, but one never knows, perhaps all the nights without resting had just decided to take effect now.
Or she could just have her phone charging and she’s doing something else, Aya knows how Mitsuki is when she’s concentrated with anything at hand.
There were so many possibilities on why wasn’t Mitsuki Koga giving signs of life to her girlfriend, tho it was fucking 6pm on a wensday, they didn’t have any homework and Joe was taking care of the store with Kanna. What was even worse for Aya’s tranquility was that the guitarist had been weird all day but she had tried to cover it up as “nothing” like she named it when Aya asked, and the pink haired girl didn’t inquire further than that because she didn't want to push her. Big mistake! By weird, what did she mean? May anyone ask, well, by weird Aya meant that Mitsuki didn’t talk to her unless she talked first, she kept conversation brief, almost didn’t eat anything except for a coffee milk and gummies, and to kill it off, she hasn’t been listening to music in class. Like yeah, it wasn´t admitted in school but she did never care about that specific rule, why now?
Actually, now that she recalled her girlfriend´s behavior, it almost looked like any kind of noise or movement disturbed Mitsuki, today it seemed even music included, it seemed like she just didn’t have the energy.
Again, a big mistake not to ask or do anything because Aya shoved it off after realizing that the guitarist wouldn’t tell her what was in her mind. Well, it was not like she did nothing at all, she offered to walk Mitsuki home, but the guitarist refused saying she had to do a couple stops first, Aya obviously insisted saying she didn't mind the walk, but the younger girl insisted that it was not necessary, and Aya decided it was best not to push.
Well, and now she was just sitting on her bed, looking at her phone screen waiting for a certain contact name to appear. She was begging for it, waiting for a response was haunting and so stressful.
Like, what if Mitsuki got bored of her and she was planning on breaking up with her? It wouldn't be like her, because she was sure that Mitsuki…loved her? Well it wasn´t time for big words but she was certain that Mitsuki didn't lose feelings. So what could it be? Maybe there was something up her mind, the topic of going abroad to the States with Kanna perhaps. Maybe even a complication with school work, even if they had a study group with the girls (+ Narita) it was not out of the question.
With all the thinking , gears rotating inside her brain, thoughts flying around her head and voices telling her different things she started to feel a heavy presion on her forehead, she should maybe call once more before arriving at conclusions?
And just then…
“Bzzz, bzz-“ The noise at first made Aya flinch, but as soon as she got back to her senses, she picked up the phone without letting it ring any longer.
“Yes, my love?” Was the first thing that came across her mind. She said it and suddenly her mind gave her the subtle reminder that she had been the one calling nonstop all the evening.
All her doubts were clear as crystal when she heard a deep and rough noise coming from the other end before anything else was said.
Mitsuki was coughing her lungs out. “You're sick.” Aya remarked. It all clicked now, her weird behavior days after she came to see Aya when she was sick. She slightly pulled her hair as she felt a spark of guilt growing inside her. “Oh, baby, I’m so sorry, how are you feeling?”
“No, I’m fine, it’s just that I cleaned my room and there were a couple things covered in dust-“ Her voice was raspy, and way rougher than usual. It made Aya’s heart ache, for two reasons; the first one, because her girlfriend was feeling bad and was in pain; second reason, because it was all her fault.
“Love, I know you and you don't clean your room unless there's a special reason, don’t lie to me.” She cleared her throat, putting on her shoes and standing up from her bed.
“Mmh, I’m sorry…” Mitsuki sounded… embarrassed perhaps? She was so cute, it always got a smile out of Aya, how easily her girlfriend would be all shy and embarrassed about anything and everything. Even if she also adored her more bold side and wouldn't admit it.
“How are you feeling?” She asked, checking that her pink curls were in place before leaving her room. She wanted to know how Mitsuki was feeling, it was the most important thing at hand.
“It’s just the cough because of a throat itching, don’t worry.” The guitarist affirmed but something sounded off to Aya, her voice was distant, and a little pitched, just like when she hid something.
“Koga-san…” She chanted as she always did when she wanted Mitsuki to speak up. As she said this, she waved “good-bye” to her mom, mouthing a clear “Koga-san” and quickly left the house.
“Oh! Maybe I have a little bit of fever, but it’s okay. I’m taking pills.” Mitsuki admitted, being her words followed by multiple coughs, even with all the street´s noise, Aya could clearly distinguish the violent coughing at the other end.
“Love…” she muttered softly, walking down the street trying really hard not to think of a sick, coughing Mitsuki, because it would definitely result in a heart attack. “I've already told you that it's okay to not be okay, above all, you shouldn't hide when you're not okay, especially from those closest to you.”
There was silence at the other end as Aya entered the convenient store, she waited a couple seconds as she searched for the desired items; water bottles. Mmh, maybe she was a little too forward, but with her girlfriend sick, she couldn't allow her to hide and suffer in silence. (It doesn´matter if she tried to do that herself, that´s a very different case.) But just when she was about to talk, she heard a sight and Mitsuki clearing her throat.
“I know, I´m sorry…” Was said at the other end and Aya sighed, she knew how her girlfriend was and she smiled softly before opening her mouth.
“Don't be sorry, I know it is hard for you to be open in this aspect, but you are trying and that's what matters the most to me.” Aya said with a warm smile creeping up the corners of her mouth. A special spark was lit inside her heart and it felt like three thousand stars burning, in the best way but she wanted to transmit that warmness to her girlfriend.
She paid quickly for the bottles of water and left the store. “You are the cutest, Oosawa-san…”
She struggled with her own feet and let the bottles fall to the ground, feeling her body heat up, as if the fever was back.
Hell, perfectly Aya knew not even a fever would have her so weak, she was 0% prepared for that, the voice came through completely unexpectedly and had a 100% effect on her.
“Oosawa-san?” The voice of her girlfriend called for her again.
“Ah, yes, my love?” She answered back, smiling enormously as she awaited for the guitarist to speak and she leaned down to pick up the items she had dropped.
Aya didn't need to see her girlfriend to know that she wanted to say something else, and could perfectly picture Mitsuki opening and closing her mouth as if she was to speak.
Aya giggled and then declared in a soft tone “I'll see you in a bit, baby, okay?” before the contrary could answer, she spoke again. “And you better be in bed when I arrive.”
Aya heard a giggle at the other end and smiled to herself. “Yes ma'am.”
They hung up and Aya continued walking, she already knew the way by memory and it would take her five minutes at the most, and she would be like five minutes in the place, which meant that she would be in Mitsuki´s place in fifteen minutes, approximately, if she walked fast enough, but gay speed is fast enough so she didn´t worried but instead focused in the task at hand.
Her next stop was one of her favorite spots to eat or to order from when no one wanted to cook at her house, being frankly honest, she had eaten there more than the times she could count, she had taken her friends to eat there, she new the menu like the back of her hand, and new the owner like if it was her own aunt, but she could never remember the name of the place. But she loved it so much, the food was so comforting, like if the food was hugging you from the inside, keeping you warm and instantly boosting the mood. And with all the snow it was just the perfect occasion to spot by.
Before she could realize, she had already arrived, quickly recognizing the familiar “Welcome” sign and the plants that she recalled helping the owner to put outside a couple weeks ago, but then something catched her gaze, something was out of place and she could not exactly point it out. Well, she´ll have time for that mystery later.
“Hello, good evening! How are you, auntie?” She hummed with a friendly smile as she stepped in, saluting the old woman.
“Oh, dear, I´m good, thank you, how about you?” The older woman replied, waving her hand and waiting behind the register with a warm smile.
“Good to hear that, I'm good also, happy to see you!” Aya couldn't help but to smile as the older woman nodded with her head. Then she cleared her throat to order what she came for. “But today I´m just passing by quickly, just the menu #5 for two to take away.”
Menu five, what a godsend gift it was. Auntie´s special sauce with homemade fried chicken, rice, noodles and spring rolls. The best thing Aya had ever eaten in her whole life, probably even in her past lives. Just by thinking of that, her mouth became water, remembering the glorious flavor.
“Of course, darling, just give me five minutes and it's ready for you.” The lady smiled and disappeared behind the curtains that led to, what Aya had assumed, the kitchen.
A couple seconds passed and pink eyes started to dart through the familiar place. It wasn´t full but there were around ten people, chilling and just enjoying the warm food and the music. Aya had always loved the decoration, cozy vintage couches, like the ones from the 50's, that were by the windows, letting people see the outside and how the snow was slowly falling, there were also a couple chairs at the bar by the register, the lighting was bright enough that you could see everything at the restaurant without issues, but dim and soft enough so it didn't hurt your eyes, and to give the final touch, the place had a couple of plant, everything between bambu, mango´s trees, lilies and even carnivorous plants.
Mitsuki really liked this place. The first time Aya brought her, she had been left speechless by the food, not even stopping to talk, but occasionally stopped to give a little comment, breathe and drink water. And not even mention the music, Mitsuki had asked to seat near the speakers, as always did, she spend most of the date nodding her head to the beat and giving some very brief notes about the music to Aya, after eating she stood up to thank auntie and rambled for like ten minutes about music until auntie admitted that she mostly played her son´s playlist, but that she used to be in a band and that was the record that she played that day. Plot twist here? Her son was a member of an underground punk band from the 80's,she was even kind enough to give them a CD signed. It was a very dear memory to Aya, it made her smile every time she did think about it, it was heartwarming and so… casual, private in so many ways that Aya didn't know were possible. It was impossible not to smile at the memory, a giggle falling from her lips.
“Ready to go.” The old lady came back without Aya noticing until she spoke, making the pink curls flinch and jump so slightly at the surprise. “Oh, sorry for scaring you.”
“Oh, don´t worry, I was just spacing out.” She excused herself and smiled, receiving the food and taking the money out to pay. She already knew exactly how much it was as she was used to ordering always the same. “Here.”
“Thank you, give me a second, I'll give you your change.” The old lady said and Aya smiled as she nodded.
“By the way, you changed something outside? I noticed something out of place but couldn't quite say what.” Pink eyes darter towards the woman, awaiting with curiosity.
“Oh yes! So good you noticed.” The lady admitted with a proud smile. “It's a new machine I bought, it's supposed to be a vending machine, maybe you find something interesting?” She finally said, handing out the coins with a smile. “Take care of yourself, I hope I see you around.”
“I hope so too! Bye, auntie, take care!” And just like that, she was outside again, food in hand and a couple of coins that she was planning to spend on the newfound vending machine.
Which by the way, now that she focussed enough, it as so fucking obvious, it was literally like 180cm tall and bright red. It was no mystery that she felt “something out of place”.
She approached it, and noticed the various items that were at display; keychains of little tigers, pandas, snakes, etc, a couple of fake piercing that she may buy in a future (to herself or for Narita maybe) there were even figurites, she even recognize one as Harry Styles and other as Freddy Mercury. but best of all the little souvenirs? It had CDs.
It was perfect, a signal from the universe, and who was she to defy the universe? So she hurried to select the items and introducing the coins, one by one she select five things; two keychains, one of a tiger and one of a panda, and three CDs, “There is nothing left to lose” by the Foo Fighters, “In Rainbows” by RadioHead, and finally “Use your illusion I” by Guns N´ Roses, the three albums that Aya knew by fact that Mitsuki didn´t have, a miracle considering her uncle owned a record store.
She sighted, satisfied with her purchase and walked away, ready to crash her girlfriend´s place and take care of her, as all good girlfriend would!
Then she realized something, she didn't specify to her mother when she would come back, so she stopped quickly to text her that she was staying at Mitsuki´s for dinner and she would return by 8-ish. “Okay ready.” She muttered and continued with determination, eager to see Mitsuki, and to take care of her, she deserved it, and she knew that even if Mitsuki didn't say it outloud, the guitarist loved to have her around looking out for her.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she arrived her destination, smiling she entered through the record store, feeling the immaculate vibe of the place, maybe it was how always someone was speaking about the “old good days”, albums, bands, or even about the most random thing that made the store feel always so alive, so lived.
“Good afternoon, I came to see Mitsuki.” She salutes Kanna and Joe, both standing behind the register as they talk to some friends.
“Oosawa-san, welcome!” Joe said with his usual enthusiasm, but then it fell suddenly as he spoke. “My poor niece, my little girl got sick… please take care of her!” He added with a painful groan, his usual… thing?
“Well, I guessed so, lovergirl.” Kanna teased with a smirk, obviously awaiting Aya´s reaction, a very notorious blush, and signaled the door behind them, which led to the back of the store and upstairs. “You know your way.”
“Thank you, have a good night.” She rapidly went upstairs, trying to hide her enthusiasm to meet the sick guitarist, her poor girlfriend, who she had got sick by kissing her when she knew she shouldn't have to. Though she would never, and she meant it, never regret kissing Mitsuki, it made her feel so guilty.
“Koga-san?” She asked, opening the front door of the apartment, already knowing it was always unlocked, and walked in searching for any traces of Mitsuki.
“Here.” A voice, which sounded even rougher in person, called from Mitsuki´s room and Aya didn't waste time getting there and carefully opening the door, later revealing a dark and messy room, windows closed, clothes and papers in some places and in the corner it was the origin of the coughing, covered in blankets and hiding under them, only being visible a black mess of hair.
After scanning the room, she closed the door behind her and spoke. “Hi, love, how are you feeling?” She approached the bed and sat at the edge, leaving her “supplies” bag at the nightstand. “I brought you some things, I´m taking care of you so don't worry about anything.”
Suddenly a pair of icy grey eyes appeared from the blankets and stared at her. “I died?”
“What?” Aya whispered confused, very confused but entertained by the comment and sillines of her girlfriend. Maybe the fever was getting too hot? She leaned to touch Mitsuki´s forehead, checking her temperature as the girl melted and leaned into her touch. “You're hot.” She commented automatically, vastly distracted by the younger´s behavior.
A couple seconds went by in pure silence, the guitarist growing hotter under Aya´s touch and the gyaru unaware, only for a couple seconds though, as she repeated her words to her insides and stumbled with her breath, taking her hand away and turning a soft crimson tonality. “I didn´t mean- not that you´re not- not what I-” Every word came out softer than the previous, more like a whisper every second. She had to take a big deep breath to not choke, trying to calm herself. “I meant that your temperature is hot, that's what I meant…”
Mitsuki seemed to be entertained, as she giggled and took the older girl´s hand into hers and placed it back on top of her face, leaning into the touch with a satisfied smirk. If per se that was a gaze to behold, it would be her death, for sure, she knew it the moment that confident and satisfied smirk came combined with those eyes, oh, those eyes that seemed to melt into her soul with that adoration hidden behind grey windows which shielded her thoughts.
Oops, and suddenly her thoughts diverted. “What?” She inquired, wishing she could hide behind her hair, but she knew it would be useless as she was probably way brighter than a soft pink. You could put a strawberry by her side and most seemly the strawberry would look pale.
“You are so, so, so, so pretty.” The younger one smiled. “I can't believe you're mine, my angel, my girlfriend…”
As she said that, Aya felt her own temperature rising, who gave Mitsuki the permission to be so, like that, while sick? The girl giggled and Aya couldn't help herself but to smile too, feeling a familiar warmness grow inside her chest. “It's okay, my love. You should eat, okay? It´ll make you feel better.”
“Well, are you on the menu?”
“If I'm in the-?” It took her a second before violently blushing. The universe was really testing her today. Taking a deep breath she took control of herself and sighted. “Ah, my love, I meant real food.”
Mitsuki looked at her disappointed, pouting even, like some child when you tell them that they have to eat the veggies before the dessert.
God, she was so cute.
Aya loved her so much in a way that was not normal, not chill and hard to restrain to not look crazy.
She also loved to tease her, as if it was necessary to mention. “Well, I guess then that you don't want to eat auntie´s special?” As she said that, she pulled out of the bag a couple of containers, Mitsuki knew what it meant and sat up on her bed to reach them, pouting, but Aya noticed how the edges of her lips twitched as she tried not to smile.
“Aya-san,” She whispered, leaning her head on Aya´s shoulder, permitting her to sense that characteristic smell of Mitsuki, some kind of spice and citric mixed with old magazines and records. And of course she wouldn't let slide the opportunity to play with Mitsuki´s hair, something she did every time she could and she soon realized that it was something that relaxed Mitsuki, like, really relaxed her, making her lean more to the soft touch, eyelids closing slowly and totally, and her breath becoming even. “You're an angel…”
She could do nothing but smile unconsciously, also she became more relaxed but just by feeling her girlfriend's heart rate slow down peacefully.
But she didn't come just to relax, she came to take care of her and make sure she's taking the proper care.
“Baby, come on, don´t you wanna eat then?” Aya shrugged, playfully smiling to her girlfriend, who obliged, moving to sit straight in front of her as she awaited with a slight smile. As Aya laid the food containers, she could sense the growing emotion inside the other girl, and continued to take out the four water bottles with a kind smile as she noticed Mitsuki's gaze. “You need to drink water, so, before I leave, these four bottles should be empty.”
“What!?” The girl reacted, flinching at the declaration. “That's too much water in one evening.”
Aya glared with a kind smile. “Or not kisses for a week.”
“Low punch, that's not fair.” Mitsuki signaled with a pout, which normally would work, but she had to be strong! It was for Mitsuki´s own good. Who seemed to realize her tactic wasn´t working. “You would not dare… it's as bad for both.” The younger one whispered looking down to her lap.
“It's for your own good.” Was the only thing she uttered as she passed a bottle of water, it was true what Mitsuki said, but still. “So?”
“Ugh, that's cruel,” Mitsuki murmured, the resemblance to a puppy was undeniable as Mitsuki displayed a pout, looking down at her lap.
Why did she always have to look like a kicked puppy in these cases?
Silently she accepted the bottle and drank it all, then she stared at Aya, as if she was expecting something. “Yes, my love?”
“Umh, well, I drank it…” She tried to explain, as if it was obvious.
“Yes, you did it very well…” Aya wasn't catching up on where Mitsuki was trying to get.
“So, my kiss?” Was all she elaborated, still pouting and expecting.
“Oh…” She couldn't say she was surprised, playing with one of her pink curls she smirked slyly and approached the guitarist to leave a faint kiss on her cheek. “There you go, baby, should we eat then?”
She learnt her lesson of no kissing when they were sick.
She noticed how Mitsuki seemed like she was about to say something but she immediately closed her mouth again.
Cute.
“So? How is it?” She inquired with curiosity as the younger girl ate the first bite.
Mitsuki mumbled something that Aya did not quite understand as she was eating. Aya just waited for her for a couple seconds as she ate. “It's even better than I remembered it to be. I missed eating this so much, with you above all…” The girl spoke, maintaining direct eye contact, but for the last art she stared at her food.
“Aren't you quite talkative today?” Aya teased with a warm smile, successfully making Mitsuki blush at the top of her ears.
“Not my fault, I missed you so much actually, I wish I could see you all 24 hours of the day. Wouldn't it be wonderful?”
“We saw each other a couple hours ago, but I missed you too, so, so, so much you can't even imagine.” She confessed rapidly, smiling as she could just enjoy the happiness she felt at the moment. “But I'm so sorry about getting you sick.”
“No, don't blame yourself.” Mitsuki brushed it off with a smile, timidly, for the first time today, taking Aya´s hand in her own and guiding it to her lips, to kiss it softly. “I would do it again without thinking twice, I would rather be sick because I went to see you, kissing you and taking care of you, rather than being well but staying away from you. You mean absolutely everything to me and I would not be able to stand to be without you more than necessary.”
“Koga-san…” Speechless, she was genuinely and utterly speechless. No words could ever make up the meaning she would need them to have. “You do mean more to me than I could explain, you have such an importance that I can't explain, not even to myself sometimes. But just because of that is that I don't want you to be sick, even less because of me. But if you are, I will take care of you.”
She spoke until she was almost out of breath.
And then it was silence, not the uncomfortable type of silence, but instead the type of silence where they kept eating, exchanging looks and occasional touches, at some point Aya just took Mitsuki´s hand and they stayed like that.
“I'm gonna throw this away.” Aya indicated, as they had already finished the food, she stood up and looked at Mitsuki, who would not let go of her hand. “I'll be back in a minute.” She assured, squeezing her hand and smiled as Mitsuki let go of her hand, and picked up the empty containers.
“Thank you, Oosawa-san, I really appreciate your presence and care. Thank you so much.” THe guitarist said and Aya smiled warmly at her, leaving a kiss on her cheek before walking off the room.
It was a short walk from Mitsuki´s room to the kitchen, so in a couple seconds she was in front of the trash bin, the recycling bin mind you because hot girls take care of the planet, and soon after washing her hands, she was once again in front of Mitsuki´s room.
“Hello.” Pink hair called Mitsuki´s attention, not that it was necessary, and approached towards the bed but leaned down to pick up the bag she had left as soon as she arrived. “I have a little thing for you.”
Mitsuki´s face shifted from attention, to surprise, to curiosity in a matter of seconds as she looked up waiting. Even little details like that were important to Aya, she found these very cute and entertaining, but above all, they were important details to be able to read Mitsuki as she does.
“But first,” Aya spoke with a confident smile as she sat beside her girlfriend, who was quite literally glued to her side with curious eyes darting from one place to another, expecting. “Did you drink at least two bottles?” Asked Aya, raising an eyebrow to her girlfriend.
Without declaring a word, Mitsuki picked up a bottle that was half empty and drank it all. “Actually, three.” Replied with a smirk and poked her cheek.
God, was she the cutest ever or what? At some point her heart was going to explode, and Aya could swear that was not a sweeter death than that. “Open it.” She said after leaving a quick peck at Mitsuki on the check, and passed her the bag which contained the CDs and keychains.
“Thank you.” The girl received both the kiss and bag with a satisfied smile which grew wider by every minute.
“So, open it!” Aya said, eager to see her reaction.
The guitarist obliged, nodding rapidly as a very slight blush creeped down her cheeks and ears. But soon her face changed to a surprised and excited expression, her smile grew immeasurably and her eyes, as wide as plates, darted between Aya and the CDs she had pulled.
“Thank you, thank you, Aya-san!” The younger girl got closer to the older one, hugging her tight, as if she was trying to melt herself into Aya, not that she would mind, at all. “You're the best, how did you get this? I thought the shipments were delayed because of the snow and harsh weather.”
“Well, I guess it was meant to find you.” She shrugged it off, explaining her confusion with the vending machine would be a story for another time. “I'm glad you liked them.” She smiled softly and lifted her hand to play with a stray hair in front of Mitsuki´s glasses. And suddenly she remembered something else in the bag, so she pulled back and signaled the bag once again. “Wait, there´s something more in there…”
“God, you really shouldn't have to-” Mitsuki tried to say, but Aya shushed her with a finger on her lips and gave her that look, so the guitarist surrendered and murmured “Thank you.” accompanied by a kiss on her finger as she looked for the other items.
“That… I did think that maybe it would be cute to have matching keychains…” THe girl started playing with her hair, creating a pink braid as she explained.
“Aya-san, that's so cute, I love them.” The younger girl assured with a soft smile which extended to her eyes, sparking with something that Aya could not exactly name. “Just one thing.”
“¿Yes?” The girl shifted, getting worried if something was bothering her girlfriend.
“I get to have the panda,” Mitsuki said, grabbing the little keychain and smirking slyly. “It reminds me of you and I wanna have always a little part of you with me”
Mmh, suddenly the weather outside was no problem and it was like if Aya was burning alive in the summer sun. A blush creeped up the back of her neck and rose to the tip of her ears, mixing that familiar warm feeling in her stomach.
How was she supposed to respond to that? Nodding? screaming? melting in the lesbian mess she was? jumping out the window? kissing her precious girlfriend?
Any of the above would be a perfect fit, the last one tho was not the best option from what Aya had learned along the way.
As a natural response she just nodded, trying to not burst under all her feelings, but she could still feel the familiar warmth spreading through her body, very rapidly in fact.
“Cool.” Mitsuki broke the silence, which Aya hadn't realized that was even there, as she was way too absorbed in her own thoughts and lost sense of any other thing around her, except for Mitsuki´s face, framed by her hair, with those eyes and that smirk… Some would say Aya was in a chokehold, that she was weak, among other things, none of them would be wrong. She is an absolute lover at the four winds for her girlfriend. “Aya-san?” Mitsuki leaned closer, her hand resting on Aya´s cheek.
She reacted at the girl´s murmured words. “Yes, my love?” She answered instantly, flinching slightly.
“Could you pass me my keys?” The girl asked, retreading her hand to her lap once again, letting Aya free to move and give it to Mitsuki. “Thank you.” She smiled and quickly worked her way to link the little panda to the rest of the keychains. “How pretty it looks?”
Aya giggled and copied the action, attaching the tiger keychain to her keys, smiling and showing the result to Mitsuki, warm smiles in their faces as they savoured the moment.
But the moment was unfortunately interrupted by the coughs of a certain guitarist, which startled Aya, even worse was when she touched Mitsuki’s forehead and realized that she was burning and sweating cold. As a response she quickly got up and went to look for cough syrup, which she knew was in the bathroom cabinet, and came back with that plus a bowl with cold water and a piece of cloth. Sitting down on the bed she quickly inspected the girl and nodded to herself as she opened her mouth. “Drink this.” She ordered as she handed a little shot of the cough syrup. As soon as Mistuki drank it she put aside the syrup and murmured just above a whisper. “Lay down”
Mitsuki obliged and awaited with a smirk, eyes never leaving Aya’s pink pearls, and god, the gyaru could perfectly sense a pair of eyes on her as she dipped the piece of cloth in the water, to then pressing it against Mitauki’s temple. It was funny how now she was smirking as Mitsuki flinched and tried to cover it, cute. Then she dipped the cloth once again and placed it against her girlfriend’s temple, repeating the process a couple times before the cold sweat had stopped.
“Feeling better?” She inquired, smiling and putting aside all the things she brought to the room, leaving them somewhere to be found later. Now she wanted to focus on Mitsuki, smiling at her exactly like the first time they listened together to music, it was just a sweet, soft and appreciative smile. Maybe Aya wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the time together. “You okay, baby?” She accompanied the question with her hand slowly cupping Mitsuki’s cheeks.
The younger girl immediately blushed, but did not look away, and without even shuttering, she sighed. “I feel more alive than ever with how hard my heart is beating,” the blush grew a darker tone and Aya started to match her hair as Mitsuki continued, melting into the touch of Aya’s hand. “But I don’t believe it as such an angel like you could never be found on earth.”
God, she was a weak, weak woman. “Oh, baby, sweet lord.” Was all she could mumble as she hid behind her hands, but shortly because Mitsuki pushed down the barrier and smirked.
“Cute. So cute.” The guitarist whispered under her breath, so Aya almost didn’t get it, and started kissing Aya’s palm.
God, Kurt, Freddy, Layne, whoever was listening, mercy and strength was what she needed to overcome the temptation of her girlfriend. Because, one; she knew that if she continued like that, Mitsuki would end up being kissed until out of breath, which wasn't good in her condition. And, two, how was she supposed to leave afterwards to let her girlfriend rest if she was so cute?
Something about the way she said it, the tone perhaps? Smooth, husky and still adoring, the touch of confidence and lack of shame was obvious and it was also obvious the wonders it made to Aya’s heart. Maybe the tilting of her head? God, she just looked so kissable, like Aya could just jump on Mitsuki and start leaving a trace of lipstick all over to then play with her cheeks, Aya knew how squishy they were and she loved them so much. God. and the touch, it was just so intimate, emotionally speaking she felt as if just the brushing of their skin was the sky collapsing under them. But then her eyes, perfectly placed a couple inches away from her, looking up at her so… adoringly and transparent, it was crazy how much Aya could get from her girlfriend just from her eyes. And right now? it was obvious how much Mitsuki wanted to get closer to her, and Aya would oblige.
But, even before Aya could move, a word, a single fucking word was enough to make her engine stop working.
“Cuddles?” That was all she said, Mitsuki didn’t need more to have Aya moving to her side, slowly, as if trying to not break her, to lay down, very slowly they started to shift until it just felt right. Before Aya noticed, she was caresing Mitsuki’s face, just admiring her, taking every moment of it as she rested her head on Mitsuki’s neck and lowered her hand to play with a couple of loose hairs, relaxing under Mitsuki’s hand pacing at her waist, her heartbeat started to slowly match with Mitsuki’s own. “Stay the night?”
She opened her eyes, shocked by the question, unsure of the time and why would Mitauki ask that so suddenly, and then she checked the time, 9:57pm.
It was actually pretty late…
The actual fuck, why did time have to pass by so fast when they had a good tine?
Unfair and fucking homophobic time.
“I can’t. You have to rest and I have to go home.” She left a chaste kiss at Mitsuki’s neck, afterwards getting up and smiling fondly as she started to put on her shoes again.
Her heart could explode.
“I can rest with you, I sleep better with you by my side.” Mitsuki declared, her hand gravitating to Aya’s side once again.
Shit, she knew she was blushing, it was painfully obvious the heat that began to cover her face until her ears. Suddenly her mouth was no longer useful as she felt the shuttering coming from her insides.
“Baby…” Mitsuki responded to the per name with a blush that could be for the fever, the pet name or anything else, and she pouted, hand on Aya’s side pulling her closer and puppy eyes shining, pleading.
Weak.
“Until you fall asleep, okay?” She sighted, smiling, getting out of her shoes, again, leaning over to her girlfriend’s side, pressing her hand on Mitsuki’s stomach and resting her head in the crook of her neck, taking a deep breath, feeling Mitsuki relaxing at her side, hummig.
Well, she didn’t like her girlfriend being sick, but she couldn’t call it an unpleasant experience, nothing with her girlfriend being involved could ever be qualified as such.
Specially at moments like those were when Aya realized how fucking much she loved Mitsuki Koga, because even when music was the only thing that used to make her feel understood and alive, since Mitsuki, even the mundane was special, and there was not a moment by her side that she didn’t feel like exploiting with love and excitement.
Love was funny, being sick not much.
