Chapter 1: Don't want to go | Work on some dresses

Chapter Text

️️♟️ Ruby Queen💋

Ruby sits crisscross on her bed, upset at her mother. She didn’t fight with her mother often, unlike her brother who only cared for the orders of the Courtly Jester. She could care less for a silly clown. Just because she ran the school doesn’t give her any importance. Only one day a year does she have importance. Her mother and the Queen of Hearts were the only ones who ruled Wonderland. Well... The White Queen too but she could care less about a snobby woman like her. So self-absorbed.

Ruby let out a frustrated huff and fell back onto her bed. She grabbed onto her book, which she didn’t have much of. Just one simple story book.

“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll” at the very top of the book. And of course, she only had a few pages doggy eared. It was one of the only things that kept her from pulling her hair out when things got bad.

She slipped open the page and soft started reading her destiny. She was to make Alaister go mad with insanity of nonsense. It was humorous to her. Everything her mother said made sense to her, but yet not to Alice. Of course, it made sense when you ran you didn’t move, you just must move faster.

She’s been to those lands many times. Maybe it was confusing for outsiders, but it made complete sense to her.

Ruby heard a knock on her door. To see her adopted brother. He’s a complete mama’s boy. Yes, she was close with her mother but NOTHING like her brother was. He would jump off a bridge if she asked him to.

Great

“Roobs. Come on. It's not that bad.” he said, opening her door. She closed her book and sat it down next to her.

“It’s terrible. I don’t want to leave Wonderland.” she said, putting her knees to her chest, her anger slowly leaving her and being replaced with sorrow.

Chase plops down next to her and pulls her into him. “We’ll sure miss you here, that’s for sure. But you’ll be with everyone with stories. And maybe you’ll even find the Red King. And fulfil your story. Find Alistair and take him to those lands and find him after playing croquet with Lizzie. Speaking of which, she’s at Ever After High. Along with the Courtly Jester, Alistair, Bunny, and Maddie. Don’t you miss your friends?”

“That other queen and clown were never my friends. Alistair and Bunny are acquaintances.” Ruby said sternly before pausing. “Maddie though. I haven’t seen her for quite some time.” Ruby said in thought.

“It would be nice to see the daughter of The Mad Hatter, yes?” Chase said with that tone in his voice.

“The two positives do not out way the negatives.” She hissed. “Just because I may find more story and see Maddie again doesn’t break the fact, I’m losing my throne, family, and home for multiple months out of a year!”

Chase sighed and stood before walking to the door. “Well then. Goodluck. Mother isn’t going to change her mind. You out of everyone, as her heir, should know how stubborn she is.”

Ruby whimpered and leaned into her brother. They were raised together despite not being blood related. She was just one when her, then, five-year-old brother arrived at the door, shivering and crying. And knowing her father, he took plenty of pictures of that day. She has seen a few. They even let Chase hold Ruby on his first day. Apparently, it was just her dad that let it happen. Her mother was completely against it. Which is smart considering they barely knew the child.

But look at him now. He was grown. Only four years older than her. He’s a knight for the school and their mother’s castle. He’s the strongest knight she knows. Well...Second considering she’s seen him only get defeated once. But still. Her point still stands. He’s extremely impressive.

She’s not strong but she knows her land and how to care for her people. When her parents are out on business, she is given partial responsibility for the castle and her people. And if you ask her, she did a damn good job.

“Ever After High will be good for you. Plus. Now that Raven broke the border, you can always come back home when you’re lonely or miss home.” Chase explained.

She sighed and nodded. “Perhaps.”

👗Lizzie Hearts💗

“Kitty!” Lizzie shouts at the sudden cat appearance forming in front of her. “We must put a bell on you like a true cat has.”

Kitty smiles widely. “Am I too silent for your liking?”

“Mayhap you are.” Lizzie said as she closed her sketchbook. “Now I’m working on an assignment. I would much prefer if you left me to my work.”

“For which class? Maybe you need a Chesire's opinion. We have quite the excellent eyes.”

“Drama. We are doing a wonderland performance for the anniversary of the border opening.” Lizzie responded. She was the costume designer, but due to her destiny, she decided to partake in the performance. Maddie also takes the class thinking it to be fun. Courtly is also taking it because being whoever she wishes is sort of her thing.

“Whose playing me?” Kitty purrs.

“Raven Queen.” Lizzie said. Juniper Frog assigned Raven that under the guides of ‘helping her destiny by giving her someone evil.’

“Oh~ The evilest is playing the prankster. I’m fascinated. Tell me. Who else is the cast playing?”

“Courtly is playing Courtly. I’m playing future me. Raven is playing future you. Alistair is playing future him.”

“I didn’t know he was a part of drama.”

“He was invited because he takes study hall. Along with Bunny.”

“Continue.” Kitty purred, clearly interested in her fellow wonderlandians.

“Briar will be May Hare, of course reluctantly. And we don’t have a Red Queen.”

“Curiouser and curiouser. Were you an influence of that, Lizzie Hearts.”

“She’s a chess piece. Not a queen.” Lizzie said, grabbing onto the fabric again and continued to sew.

“You mean UNchess piece, right?” They both hear a giggle behind them to reveal Maddie.

“Maddie!” Kitty yelled as she went to go hug her girlfriend, earning a smile from Lizzie. She couldn’t help but love her friends. As a Queen, it means she should love those around her unless they were to betray her. But despite Kitty doing that in the past, she redeemed herself.

“How are our outfits, Lizzie?” Maddie asked as she dragged Kitty nearby.

“I say they are doing great. I’m working on May’s. Currently I’m only at the frame of the outfit, but I think it will look amazing with her destiny. It will look hexallent when I’m finished.”

“Do you have mine finished?” Kitty purred.

“Yes,” Lizzie chuckled, “I’m working on the May Hare’s outfit”

“I want to see what my outfit,” Kitty whined, and Lizzie simply pointed to a rack of dresses while pushing a folder labeled “Kitty Cheshire.”

Kitty snatched it up and looked into the folder. She studied the sketches and looked at the dress, a gleam of evil in her eyes, which earned a sigh from Lizzie.

“Kitty. Whatever you’re thinking about, don’t do it.” she scolded, and Kitty reluctantly put it back.

“Well,” Kitty huffed, “I suppose it does look like my mom’s outfit with a touch of me.”

It was a light purple. There was fluff ringed at the top. The lace at the bust had cat designs. The back had large cat scratches to open the back. Ripped black jean shorts with cheshire striped socks, trying to replicate her father. It had fluffy, dark purple boots with pink laces. The fluff replicated a cat’s fur.

Maddie’s eyes lit up “It looks hattastic!”

“Well, Maddie.” Lizzie said with pride, but she would never admit it. “I finished yours too.”

“Can I see!?” she said with her eyes lit up brightly.

Lizzie nodded and handed her the folder, “There you go deary.”

The girls went along to guess whose is whose, getting almost all of them right. Only the Tweedle twins confused them, but the Tweedle twins told her that's what they wanted, and she would never deny her clients what they want.

She spent the rest of the time her friends were here working on the dress before crashing into her bed and falling asleep.
