Heart Racer

Summary:

Seeing a sudden spike on the bracelet you and Xavier share for monitoring your heart rates, you go to check on him worried he may be in danger but find him doing something else you weren’t expecting

Work Text:

Laying in bed bored, wishing you were still with Xavier after a full day at the arcade you wonder slightly if he feels the same. You think about how you’ve noticed him glowing when he’s happy. It happens often now that you pay attention, does he always feel that way when you’re around? Your mind races with thoughts of him and you check your bracelet to watch his steady heartbeat. It’s slower than the average person, sometimes looking at it before bed puts you at ease. Tonight however, it seems to be on the rise. You stare a while and wonder if you’re imagining it with how tired you are. You immediately become worried that he may be being attacked, what else could cause it to spike like this? You know how much he doesn’t like to work out. Did he go to fight some wanderers in the night without telling you? That would be pretty standard for him but you weren’t sure, he usually said he would be disappearing or at least wouldn’t do so after a full day with you, you knew he needed to get his rest in and loved to sleep when he could. Getting up from bed you decided to go check on him. You knew the code to his apartment, if he wasn’t home then you could at least calm yourself with the idea that he was just out hunting like normal. But if he was facing a threat in the apartment you also knew he would try to handle it without asking for help. This line of work was unpredictable and you knew he had enemies so you just needed to be sure before you could drift off into sleep. You slipped on one of his hoodies you stole over your shirt and pulled your pajama shorts back on, sliding into your slippers and into the too silent hallway. As you stood waiting for the elevator you stared at your bracelet, still his heartbeat was fast. It seemed to be steady now and not rising as much but still much faster than it normally would be. Once you got to his door you snuck in as quietly as possible, if he was asleep you didn’t want to wake him and if there was a threat you wanted to have the element of surprise. Skulking around his too dark living room you let your eyes adjust to the faint light of the moon shining into the window, walking around slowly and listening for anything bizarre before you tip toed to his room. You started to become nervous, although you knew he wouldn’t mind you being here it felt weird to wander around his apartment at night without him knowing. As you got closer to his room you began to pick up on some noise. Xavier seemed out of breath? You heard him panting and moaning. Could he be hurt? Were you too late to stop the attack? You heard him call out your name and without thinking you burst into the door to offer help as fast as possible only to walk into a sight that you had not expected. The immediate shock was almost enough for you to turn and run but your feet were glued to the floor. Xavier had been sitting on the edge of his bed naked, cock in hand and head thrown back. His mouth had been slightly agape but now he looked over at you in panic. “What are-“

“I’m sorry!!!” You yelled before he could finish his sentence “I seen your heart rate and thought maybe you were hurt or attacked or I… I… I shouldn’t have snuck in!” You covered your face and ran to the door flinging it open and running down the stairs not bothering with the elevator. You got into your apartment and leaned your back against the door huffing from the blur of a run you just had. You started to playback what just happened. You felt so stupid that your oh so innocent mind didn’t consider that Xavier might be doing… well, that! Somehow he had become the pinnacle of innocence in your mind even though he could be a killing machine. He couldn’t cook, always needed help, was always dozing off and pouting about everything. He was so soft and quiet and comforting around you. Like a kid or a bunny as you so often put it. It was true you started to have more romantic feelings for him lately but it was so new. Your mind hadn’t really considered sex with him just yet. You played the moment back in your head, heat rushing to your cheeks, neck, ears. He was completely naked, he had been slightly shining with a sheen of sweat, his skin dewy and glowing. His erection was wet and hard and you could see his fingers covered in precum, like he was right at the edge of his climax. You recalled that he said your name… you thought it was because you were partners at work. Maybe he had been saying it injured and hurt on the floor out of desperation but no. He was touching himself and moaning your name, he was thinking of you and getting off. The thought made your belly flip, the memories of his face and the sound of your name shot an electric surge of pleasure through you. You were never really sure if he felt that way for you, he was sometimes so absent and aloof. But his desire for you ignited the flame that had only been embers before now. But you were still so… embarrassed. To see him so indecently before you were ready. How would you face him? Could you be normal? Actually, he should be the one most embarrassed… right? That made you feel guilty. The boundaries of friendship had been crossed, it won’t go back to how it was. You wrapped your arms around yourself. Were you ready for this? For a man who was always disappearing? Who was always putting himself at risk? Would you be able to handle that? Would he even want a real relationship or was it just lust that drove him? You were anxious and your stomach started to turn in other ways. Suddenly there was a knock at your door. You hadn’t moved and felt the soft thuds on your back. It couldn’t be. Would he really come down to talk now?! You figured he wouldn’t want to be seen. You’d maybe have an awkward encounter at work and have to talk later but right now?! Your head was spinning. Slowly you got up and opened the door, peaking through the small opening. He was standing there, you couldn’t read his expression but when you met his eyes he gave a small smile. “Could I come in?” You opened the door and stepped aside to let him in. You stood in the living room with uncomfortable space between you, you were looking down at your feet and could feel his eyes on you.

“Are you upset with me?”

“No! I mean. I just, feel silly. I shouldn’t have invaded your privacy like that.”

“I’m the one who gave you the code, you know I don’t care about that.”

“Are you not upset with me? Or… embarrassed?”

“I’m not embarrassed about how I feel. But if you’re bothered, I’m sorry. Of course I didn’t wish for you to find out like that.”

“How you feel… about me? And what is that exactly?”

“I adore you, want you. I didn’t want to leave you tonight, I couldn’t stop thinking of you. Which is what drove me to do… that. I’ve felt this way for a while. I couldn’t help myself. I ache to be with you, to push on the boundaries but I can’t read you. I don’t know how you really see me. Maybe I was a coward for not asking sooner. Have I ruined our friendship? Could you ever see me as more?”

He looked straight into your eyes while saying this, a slight pink starting to dust his cheeks and ears. You felt a fluttering in your chest and grew nervous. You weren’t expecting to confront your feelings so soon, but you didn’t want to push him away knowing now that he felt the same. More so even, he was passed the new crush feeling you had and had been feeling this way to the point of anguish it seemed. Something compelled you to touch him so you walked forward and slipped your hands around his waist laying your head on his chest. It took a moment after his initial shock but he put his arms around you and stroked your hair. “Can I take this as you feeling the same?” You slowly nodded your head and squeaked out a quiet yes.

You felt him press a kiss to the top of your head. “Can I tell everyone you’re mine now?”

You lean back and look into his face and quickly get on your tip toes giving him a kiss without thinking too much. “Tara is going to make so much fun of us. Are you ready for that?” “She already knows I like you.”

“What?! She didn’t tell me a thing.” “Honestly I kind of hoped she would, but apparently she’s very good at keeping secrets.” Xavier chuckles and holds your hands. “I’m not glad how you found out but I’m glad we’re finally together. I’ll head back up to bed now and see you in the morning?” You squeeze his hand and peak at him through your lashes. “Why don’t you just… sleep in my bed tonight?”

“I don’t know angel… as tempting as that is I don’t know if I’d be able to control myself.”

He clears his throat and looks away, finally giving you an embarrassed look. “Well I uhm, don’t really mind. I mean maybe we’re going kind of fast but..” Xavier scoops you up princess style and you squeal as he starts walking to the bedroom rather quickly.

“Just remember you asked for it love.”
