Chapter 1: Half of Moon
Chapter Text
"I beg you... Please."
In the dark room, in a hidden corner, Talia desperately begged a woman. Beside her feet were two baskets, inside were two newborn babies still sleeping soundly, unaware of how desperate their mother was.
"No Talia. It's too dangerous, you could die!"
The woman took off her black mask, revealing red hair. She grabbed Talia's hand tightly, kneeling down beside her.
"Maddiel... If you care about me, then please." Talia was desperate, her weak shoulders shaking. She had never been more desperate than she was right now. Her face was wet, looking straight at Maddiel. "You're the only one I can trust. Only you can do this. If you don't do it, they'll..."
Talia felt her lungs burn every time she breathed, her hands had never shaken like they did right now. She was desperate and scared, what she was doing was entrusted to the only person she could trust in the League of Assassins. The people here followed her for power, unlike Maddiel, who listened to her out of deep respect in her heart. Talia not only considered Maddiel her devoted servant, but also her only friend.
"Talia... I can't. He'll kill you. I can't..." Maddiel shook her head, shaking and squeezing Talia's hand.
"But if you don't, I'll die too! Along with them! Maddiel... Please... Save them." Talia snapped but then her voice softened, she begged her only friend. "Please... Save them...like the way you save me..."
Maddiel bit her lip, she looked at the two children in the bamboo basket, then looked at Talia who was crying in despair. She reached out to wipe Talia's tears, she picked up a bamboo basket, and wrapped it in a blanket.
"I will do it. But... Talia, please be safe." Maddiel took Talia's hand, pulling her up. She choked up and said.
"Thank you... Promise me..."
"I promise, Talia. I promise with all of my life." With that, Maddiel cut off her long hair, she knelt down on one knee, and held the dagger she had just cut off her hair up to Talia.
Talia picked up the dagger, looked at the child in the basket one last time, and handed it to Maddiel.
"Be safe, my friend."
"I will."
Under terrible snowstorm, Maddiel used all the strength and skills she had accumulated over the years to escape the pursuit of the League of Assassins. Her breathing was rapid, her lungs were about to freeze because of the terrible cold of the snowy mountain.
"Over there. Capture her."
Maddiel hid in the tree, she hugged the bamboo basket tightly in her arms, silently watching the people chasing her being tricked into running in another direction. When they were far away, Maddiel jumped down from the tree, she gently lifted the blanket on the bamboo basket, looking at the child sleeping soundly inside.
"Oh Talia, what should I do with this child." She exclaimed tiredly. She grabbed the child's small hand, smiling.
Oh god...How tiny he is, Maddiel fear she could hurt this boy.
She took off her mask, looking into the distance "I will take you to safety.."
"I promised your mother, Danal."

Knock...Knock...
"Oh Daniel! Wake up and shine, baby."
The door banged, Danny groaned, pulling the covers over his head. He didn't care if today was a special day for his family, or anyone, or anything. He wanted to rest.
All the week, Danny have his duty in King role, do a bunch of paper work, listen many complaints, etc. In the night Damny had to fight some random ghost or the fruitloop Vlad and his crazzy plans, in the middle of the night. Then he studied for test until three in the morning. So no, Danny refused to wake up early today.
Suddenly his covers were pulled away, Danny was startled awake. He looked at his mother, Maddie smiled brightly and opened all the curtains in his bedroom.
"Give me a reason to get out of bed at seven in the morning." Danny looked at the clock, bored.
Maddie shook the covers off, happily hugging Danny "Because today is your birthday, little Star."
Danny's face darkened, he looked at the sheets on the table, holding his forehead. How could he forget that it was his own birthday?
He covered his face and cried out, "Ugh... I forgot."
"If I were you, I would forget too. Being a student is hard, right?" Maddie kissed Danny's cheek, smiling playfully at her son.
Danny smiled awkwardly, pursed his lips and said nothing, watching his mother leave the room with a humming sound. He couldn't say that he forgot because he was busy with his royal duties in the infinite. Besides, he was the damn Ghost King. He had a hundred things to do, how could he remember his own birthday. Danny felt guilty for lying to his mother but damn... He couldn't say, Mom, I'm the Ghost King, I rule the entire Infinite Realm.
His mother would freak out.
"I need a vacation." Danny groaned.
He went downstairs and saw his mother's signature pancakes with berry jam on the kitchen table. His mom rarely made pancakes because his dad, Jack, ate them without restraint and got fat from sugar. God, Danny remembered when his mom put his dad on a diet, he definitely didn't want that for himself.
"Happy birthday, Danny." Jazz walked into the kitchen, patting Danny's head as he ate the pancakes. "Here's to you."Danny was chewing on a cake, he took the gift box Jazz gave him, happily hugged her. It was the latest planetary dictionary published this year, limited edition.
"I like it very much. Thank you, Jazz."
"I knew you would like it." Jazz hugged Danny.
They sat next to each other to eat breakfast. At this time, Maddie and Jack appeared, as usual, Danny's parents would appear with new weapons and accidentally almost exposed his identity. And... Jazz found a reason to put away that new ghost-catching weapon.
"What's new, Mom, Dad?" Danny asked blandly, he glanced at Jazz, but this time there was something strange.
Neither Danny nor Jazz saw their parents eagerly cheering for the new weapon. Danny turned his head to look, confused, he saw his parents standing with their backs to them and whispering something.
Then his mother left in a hurry and his father... He looked very serious.
Danny stood up and walked over to his parents. And like every day, the kitchen with his parents' invention was right in his path. Danny stepped on the plasma gun and fell. Surprisingly, Danny didn't feel any pain, but instead felt soft. He looked up at his mother and stood up in amazement.
"You should have been more careful, honey." He stood there speechless, letting his mother brush the dust off him.
His mother was ten feet away, how could she...Danny thought he was hallucinating because there was no way his mother could have gotten up so quickly and without making a sound. He look at Jazz, but her face...Danny hard to say anything.
"I will take you two to school." Jack said, pulling Danny and Jazz away in a very hurry.
On the way, both Danny and Jazz did not dare to say anything because. One, Jack was driving very crazy, meaning that normally their father drove crazy but today was especially dangerous. Two, they felt that there was some secret that their parents were hiding.
"Love you two!" They was drop at school and not died.
Jazz glanced at Danny, they stood in a corner. Well actually Jazz pull Danny in the coner.
"I think our parents are strange today. Like supper strange, you saw that did you?" Jazz said.
Danny thought back to his mother's actions today, she looked very hurried and... Worried. Except for ghosts and his and Jazz's safety, there was nothing that worried his mother, at least that's what Danny knew about his mother. Not mentions about how quickly she catch he fall. Danny knew his mother was good at fighting, but only against ghosts that escaped through the gate. He had never seen her with such incredible speed before, though, something about her was strange.
"No Danny. We're not spy our parents." Jazz knew Danny's look right now, she knew her troublemaking brother too well. So she immediately refused.
"I didn't say we had to spy. Did you forget who I am?" Danny smirked. Jazz helplessly held her forehead and cried out " I hate your role!"
The interesting thing about being the Ghost King was being able to secretly eavesdrop on everything without being detected. Danny learned this trick from the fruitloop Vlad, although he didn't like Vlad but he had some really useful tricks. But Danny still hated him because of Vkad's crazy obsession with his mother.
Danny sat in a corner of the library, next to him were Sam and Tucker. He drew a summoning circle.
"Danny, this is a very bad idea." Tucker said. But Danny didn't listen, he even said "Please Tucker, aren't you curious about what your parents are hiding?"
"Well that... A little. Okay, a lot." Tucker said helplessly, Danny smirked.
Sam had been silent all along and read her book, watching Danny and Tucker antics with the summoned little ghost. She closed the book and hit them on the head.
" Ouch!" Both of them holding head and shouted.
"Tucker. Danny. If you two are going to spy on parents, do it quickly." Sam said and threw the book into her bag "And let me join in."
The three teenagers whispered to each other in the library, occasionally laughing out loud when the little ghost told them some thing they follow of some people.
Sam had wanted to know beautiful Paulina's secret and it turned out she was obsessed with Phantom. Or Tucker wanted to know what the PE teacher did after torturing students in class, and surprisingly he sat watching a romantic movie and cried. They burst out laughing.
Of course the main purpose was still the same, Danny had the little ghost follow his parents.
"Jack, this is serious. It would be dangerous for Danny if they came here! I don't want Talia in danger." Danny heard his mother's voice, and his mother was very worried.
"Who is Talia?" Tucker and Sam leaned over to ask Danny, even though it was Danny's first time hearing this person, he shrugged.
"But Maddie, we can't stop them. You know how him danger for Danal." Danny's father's voice rang out.
It all things get more confusing. Why for Danny?
"Maddiel? Danal?" Sam looked at Danny, confused. "I thought your mother's name was Maddie and you were Daniel?"
Danny nodded. "Well yeah... At least I think so. I have never seen my birth certificate." He shrugged again, confused.
"I don't know, Jack. I'm... scared. I feel so bad for keeping it all hidden for so many years. I want him to live." Danny heard his mother cry. "I want to make it right. Danal needs to know about Talia."
Know what? Danny was confused.
"I don't know. Telling him about his real mother, not very wise." Danny was silent, stunned by what his father said.
What is his?
Suddenly Sam reached out to erase the summoning circle, making Tucker surprised and don't understand, he went to say something but his mouth was covered by Sam. They both looked at Danny sitting there, stunned.
"Danny...Dude, are you okay?" Tucker hesitated to call Danny but he didn't answer him "Danny..."
"I...Need some space." Danny stood up and ran away.
He ignored Sam and Tucker stopping him. Danny ran to the park and stood there for a while, he sat on a bench, his mind was in turmoil.
His real mother? Why did he have another? So he was adopted all this time?
Danny didn't understand. Why did his parents hide this from him?
Danny's chest tightened, uncomfortable as if he wanted to pull it out, he immediately transformed and opened the gate to the infinite. He stood on a deserted cliff and jetted up, the energy from his screams causing the other cliffs to shatter. He fell to his knees and cried.
"My little king, what has made you cry?" A voice suddenly sounded from behind Danny. He jerked back. "Clockwork..."
Clockwork walked over to him, gently stroking his head. Danny wiped his eyes. "I...I just found out something I shouldn't have." He said.
"That you are Fenton's adopted son?"
Danny looked at Clockwork in surprise, he wanted to say something but he couldn't make any sound. Clockwork gave Danny a necklace.
"I'm not supposed to interfere with the world of living but... My king, your destiny is not here but somewhere far away."
Danny picked up the necklace and looked at it, he was surprised to see the picture inside pendant. It was his mother and another woman, both of them looked very close. The eyes... Oh Danny felt his lungs burning with every breath. That woman's eyes were exactly like his.
He held the necklace tightly in his hand.
Danny returned home when it was almost dark. He had been in the Infinite Realm all day today, he knew he shouldn't have suddenly disappeared like that but oh god... He couldn't think of anything else. Standing in front of house, he felt worried. Actually, he was always worried because his parents were always obsessed with ghosts, he was worried that they would know he was the Ghost King. But now Danny was worried about something else.
"Mom... Dad... I'm home."
"Danny! Where have you been!" He was surprised when his mother ran over and hugged him, her voice worried "Do you know that I've been trying to call you since school ended?"
He looked at his mother in surprise, Danny had never seen her act like this before. He pursed his lips, trying to smile "I'm fine, Mom. I was just playing." He lied.
Maddie relaxed, she looked at Danny, not seeing anything unusual, she sat down tiredly on the chair. She was almost crazy because she didn't see Danny come back at the usual time, she was worried that he was attacked.
"Mom... Who is Talia?" Danny suddenly asked.
The question was like a bomb exploding strongly. Maddie was closing her eyes to meditate when she suddenly opened her eyes, looking at Danny in shock. She saw a familiar necklace on his hand. Maddie told herself it was just a coincidence and she was delusional. But the truth still slapped her in the face.
"Is your real name Maddiel? And who is Talia?" Danny stood there and asked her coldly.
"How can you..." Maddie asked with a trembling voice, but Danny shouted "Answer me! Who is that?"
"Danny...What are you talking about, my name is Maddie." She still tried to deny what Danny said. It made him feel bad because he was being lied to.
Why did his mother hide it from him?
"Mom...Am I your real child?" Danny asked coldly. Maddie could barely smile anymore, her smile was shaking "Of course I am, honey. You are my child, how could you..."
"Stop lying! I already know, tell me the truth!" Danny shook Maddie's hand away, angrily shouting.
Maddie looked at Danny in horror as he shook her hand away, he had never done that to her before. She had never been treated like this by Danny. Danny's attitude was never like that, her sweet boy...she was afraid.
"Danny..." Maddie looked at Danny, his eyes made her breathless. Those eyes... Even if she died, Maddie could never forget those eyes.
Talia... Talia's sharp eyes. Danny inherited them.
Maddie collapsed to the ground, tears flowing uncontrollably. Her heart was always filled with guilt and shame, she felt sorry for Danny for what she had done all these years. Her voice trembled, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Talia's child.
"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have..." Danny stood watching his mother cry on the floor, feeling his body go cold. He could barely breathe, he was angry but also in pain.
For past fourteen years, Danny thought this was his family. But it was all a lie from his mother, even her name was a made-up lie.
"Mom. Danny. What are you two doing?" Jazz heard the noise, she and Jack ran up to see. Surprised by the scene before their eyes.
She stood there hesitantly watching her mother being held up by her father, she looked at Danny again "What are you doing?" She asked Danny but in return he was silent towards her.
"Mom, tell me the whole truth." Danny looked at Maddie, he said coldly.
Maddie looked at Jack, tremblingly looking at Danny "You...You was originally Talia's son. A person I...respected very much."
"Talia al Ghul is the name of your biological mother, Danny. Your real name is Danal. Talia and I had a very close relationship, we grew up together, fought together. Until one day..." Maddie choked " Talia gave birth to twins, she desperately came to me and begged me to take one of the two children away."
Danny was stunned when he heard his mother's words. He staggered into the doorway, not believing what he had just heard. He had a twin brother?
"I never wanted to take you away from Talia or your twin brother Danny! Please... please listen to me. Talia... She was so broken and I..." Maddie collapsed, trying to speak "I just wanted her to live and her children to live! Danny, you have to understand."
Danny was furious and... Helpless. He shouted "So you've been lying to me all these years? Stuffing those lies into me?"
"No Danny! I don't... I... I just want you to live, like I promised withTalia..." Maddie reached out to grab Danny but he pushed her away, she sobbed in despair.
Jack couldn't bear to see Maddie crying anymore, he looked straight at Danny "Danny, stop. Your mom..."
"You know too, right?" Danny interrupted him, gritting his teeth and hissing out each word. Jack felt guilty, he nodded, Danny painfully stepped back and looked at the people he once called his mom and dad.
"Ha... Both of you..." Danny turned and ran out of the house, Jazz worriedly chased after him "Danny! Wait!" But she completely lost sight of him.

Damian never thought how his mother, Talia, could be a lier. Until now...
He stood there, looking at Talia standing far away, anger inside him exploding.
Talia stood there, looking at Damian, guilt and shame engulfing her.
"Liar... You're a liar." Damian hissed at Talia. Talia said nothing, just bowed her head silently biting her lip, trying not to let herself be weak in front of her son.
"I know... It was my worst mistake." Talia felt like she couldn't breathe.
Damian clenched his fists, he didn't say another word to Talia, he wasn't sure he was calm enough to talk normally to Talia anymore. The anger inside Damian seemed to want to escape, he gritted his teeth, pulled the hood of his cloak over his head and left. Leaving Talia standing there, in the flying rain of Gotham's gloomy weather.
"Damian..." Talia whispered under her breath, she sat down tiredly on the ground. Her shoulders couldn't help but tremble.
She did wrong again. She said it. But Damian, her son, would not accept him. Talia did not understand what she had to do to get her two sons back. Talia's hand tightened around the crescent moon amulet, hugging it tightly to her chest.
"Danal..." She whispered, looking up at the Gotham sky.
Everything in life was a bad joke.
Damian had never felt the bitterness of a bad joke, at least not until now. He returned to the mansion before Batman, before Nightwing, before everyone else. He was in his room, sitting on his bed, angry and upset.
"Have you ever understood why your moon is crescent?" He remembered Talia's words, his eyes looking at the amulet hanging above his bed.
The amulet was made of marble, carved on both sides. One side had two Ds and the other side had a crescent moon. Damian had kept it since he was a weak child until now, Talia never told him what it meant, just told him to hold it tight and never let go. Damian kept the amulet until he was with his father.
"The Crescent Moon... and the Waxing gibbous Moon. When they join together, they form a full moon..."
Twins... Damian never thought he would have a twin brother. Talia hid it from him, lied to him and... hurt him.
Talia meet him in that day was only because she wanted to find his twin brother, only because his grandfather was dead. Damian remembered how Talia said he and his brother could be reunited and they could be a family again. But he couldn't accept that Talia lied to him, that everything she did for him was just a lie.
That whole night, Damian could barely sleep, he just lay there and looked at the amulet. Two Ds, one was his name and the other was Danal, his twin brother's name.
" Danal..." Damian said that name in his mouth, feeling strange. He held the amulet tightly in his hand.
It took Damian a few days to calm down, that night he sneaked away under Nightwing's eyes to see Talia again. He went to the roof of the abandoned building, looking at Talia who looked haggard, but she was still beautiful.
Talia stood there and... The amulet that belonged to his twin was hanging around her neck. Damian was upset but he had to hide that feeling.
" Mother... Why do you need to find me again?" Damian asked coldly.
Talia silently looked at Damian, her heart breaking again when she looked at her son. Talia had made two mistakes in her life, betraying her father and... separating her children. Damian and Danal could have grown up together in a wealth life, both of them could have stood on top of the world together or at least had a childhood together. But she didn't give her children that.
Talia's hands trembled as she took off the amulet around her neck, she handed it to Damian "Go find your brother, that only thing i ask you." She simply said then painfully smiled and left.
"You are a liar and a coward!" Damian clenched the amulet in his hand, angrily shouting at Talia.
Talia's footsteps stopped. Liar? Coward?
Talia turned back to look at Damian who was still standing there angrily looking at her, he took off his mask. She wanted to say something but she found that her throat couldn't make any other sound. Talia could only stand there looking at Damian.
Seeing Talia not reply, the anger in Damian once again rose. He held back and left before he did something stupid. Only when he turned away did Talia open her mouth to say something but Damian soon stopped caring.
He returned to the mansion and...found everyone in family waiting him in living room.
"Father... Why is everyone sitting here?" Damian saw Bruce and the other members, except Jason and Cass, sitting in the living room.
Bruce looked at Damian and stood up, walking towards him, the silence made Damian feel uncomfortable. He took a step back but was stopped by Alfred right behind him.
"Father..."
"Damian. We know you went to see your mother." Bruce said, Damian's heart dropped a beat.
Damn...He forgot that Nightwing was the one patrolling with him tonight. He must have heard and seen everything between him and Talia.
"Do you have anything to say?" Damian didn't dare look straight at Bruce, his hand still clutching the amulet in his pocket, silent.
Bruce sighed, he knelt down on one knee, his hands on Damian's shoulders "Damian, if you miss your mother, invite-"
"I have a twin brother-" Damian said at the same time as Bruce.
They stopped and looked at each other in surprise, behind Bruce was surprise of all the other members. Bruce slowly removed his hand from Damian's shoulder, Damian slowly stepped back.
"What did you just say?" Bruce stood up and asked Damian again.
Damian was silent, looking away but when he thought about what Talia had said, he raised his head, looking straight at Bruce. He said loudly, strongly "I have a twin brother with me."
"WHAT THE HELL?" Stephanie was the first to react, she screamed, jumping up from her chair.
Dick was in shock, covering his mouth, his head spinning because of Damian's words "Baby bat, you have a twins?" He asked again, his voice trembling.
"Yes. Mom said it and...she also hid it." Damian nodded. "My mom kept it a secret for fourteen years. That I have a twin brother."
"His name is Danal. He was assigned to the best assassin, Maddiel, by my mother and now he can live somewhere out there."
Everything fell silent. Damian held his breath, waiting for a reaction from Bruce or at least someone else, but the silence made it even harder for him to breathe. He stood there, looking at everyone, waiting for a reaction.
"Demon twins. Great, we have another demon out there and Talia didn't say anything with us!" Tim's voice rang out, Damian didn't expect Tim to be the first to react and his reaction was anger.
"No offense, but Talia is a terrible mother." Tim hissed, looking at Damian. But Damian showed no other reaction than a sigh of relief.
He didn't defend what Tim said, after all that Talia had done, he couldn't say that she was a good mother. Talia had done a lot for him but had also hurt him deeply. And Danal was the last straw.
"Hey Tim. Don't say that, you hurt Baby bat!" Dick lightly hit Tim's arm, unhappily saying.
"If Jason were here, he would say worse than me!" Dick wanted to argue but he realized that Tim was right, that Jason would say worse than this, he kept quiet and sat down on the chair.
Bruce had remained silent from the beginning until now, he fell into deep thought. He never thought that Talia would keep a secret, he meant she did but not the kind of secret that wasn't beneficial to her. She could have told him about Danal, or even better, she could have given Danal to him instead of an assassin if she wanted him to be safe. But no, Talia chose an assassin. He couldn't understand Talia's train of thought.
"Father..." Damian was still waiting for Bruce's reaction, he looked at him and called softly.
"Damian, do you want to find your brother?" Bruce placed a hand on his shoulder, carefully asking him. Damian was stunned by his father's question.
He hadn't thought about finding Danal. At least that's what he thought, or he wanted to find Danal. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do. Damian was in turmoil over his own decision.
"I...I don't know..." Damian could hear his voice distorted, he answered in confusion.
"Or you should rest for a bit. We'll talk about it later."
Suddenly Duke stepped forward, he pushed the stiff Damian out of the living room and back to his bedroom. He chuckled and patted Damian's shoulder, pulling him back to reality, he hesitantly nodded and slowly followed Duke back to the bedroom.
"If you suddenly have a lost brother, what will you do, Duke?" Damian sat on the bed, staring at the amulet in his hand, he asked Duke unexpectedly.
Duke was puzzled by his question, he took a deep breath, rubbing his neck with difficulty. He thought for a moment and sat down next to Damian.
"I'm not professional like Dick, but try to think about what you need to do and what you want. And if I were in that situation...I would find my brother. After all, family are family, blood or not." Duke said.
Damian didn't answer Duke. He didn't know that Duke had left a long time ago, he just sat there and thought about what his mother said. And what Duke said. He leaned back on the bed, quietly looking at the ceiling, his eyes gradually closing.
Danal...
"I will find you Danal."

Pain... Danny's heart had never been hurt like this before. The people he called family turned out to be lies. He doubted his life, everything he had was a lie.
Danny sat curled up on the cliff of the hill, tears streaming down his face. He tried to wipe them away but they wouldn't stop. He hated himself for being like this.
"My little king..." Clockwork's voice suddenly rang out, Danny raised his head to look. He lowered his head again, ignoring Clockwork sitting next to him.
Clockwork sat quietly next to Danny, he watched him sob. His hand gently touched Danny's hair, clumsily comforting the young king.
"I know life is a bad joke sometimes but one thing I know is that no matter how bad the joke is, you have to accept it and move on." Clockwork said.
Hearing Clockwork's words, Danny raised his head, not in a way that he would accept what Clockwork said, but in a way that he was annoyed with what he said. He frowned at Clockwork.
"Wow... That's some good advice!" He mocked Clockwork and slapped his hand away.
Danny knew Clockwork just wanted to cheer him up, but he was terrible at it. His words only made Danny feel more hurt and angry at his family for lying to him.
"Ha... I know I'm no good at this." Clockwork wasn't angry at Danny's actions, he sighed.
Hearing that, Danny covered his mouth and laughed, "Yeah. You're bad at advice, Frostbite is."
He sighed, looking up at the sky. Today was a particularly gloomy day, but it wasn't raining, just like Danny's current mood. He was disappointed and hurt but he couldn't blame anyone, not even his family, even though they had lied to him.
"When you said my destiny was somewhere else... Where is it?" Danny asked Clockwork suddenly.
"I can't tell you but I can give you a hint." Clockwork was always Clockwork, always playing with people.
Danny pouted as he looked at him with a mysterious smile. Of course, Clockwork never said it directly, it was always a cryptic hint. He rolled his eyes and shook his head in frustration.
"Okay. What's the hint?"
Clockwork smiled, he used his stick to draw a circle with a curve inside it that was tilted to one side. If you looked closely, it looked like a moon, Danny tilted his head to look at Clockwork's drawing in confusion. He raised an eyebrow at him.
"I suggest you go find the black ghost."
"Ha... Of course. Looking for a ghost. Can't you give me an easier hint?" Danny covered his face and wanted to scream, he said in annoyance.
But Clockwork just smiled mysteriously.
That night, Danny didn't return home. Not because he didn't want to, but because he didn't have the courage to face Jack and Maddie, and of course his beloved sister, Jazz. Danny felt guilty after calming down, he should have let his mother explain before blaming her but Danny let his emotions control him.
"Danny, do you know your parents are...crazier than ever?" Sam spoke to Danny through a hand mirror.
Danny sat on the throne, on his head was the Crown of Fire, which used to belong to Pariah Dark. He was in the Infinite Realm, communicating with Sam through the haunted hand mirror, which Sam thought would be safer than normal communication devices. When she said that, Danny's mood became worse.
"Danny... What did you do?" Sam noticed Danny's evasive gaze, she raised her voice to force him to speak.
"Nothing! It's a little... Ugh! I don't know anymore Sam!" Danny said with difficulty, he shouted "A bomb of secrets suddenly fell from the sky and it exploded. Me! Me, Sam! I'm not their son and my real mother... Aaaa... I shouted to my mom..."
"Okay, calm down Danny. Remember what I told you. Breathe in and out, you're a breeze." Sam looked at the fire of the crown on Danny's head burning brighter than usual, she immediately calmed Danny down.
Danny breathed as Sam instructed, he calmed down and sat down on the throne. Feeling his whole body twist and straighten, Danny felt uncomfortable.
"I made a mistake... I hurt them, Sam. I'm so bad."
"Oh Danny... Remember when I was 10? I had a fight with my parents and ran away, I hurt them too." Sam looked at Danny, she said softly.
"Yeah... You ran away because you wanted them to stop making you wear princess dresses and ended up breaking your arm." Danny remembered that, he laughed.
Sam shook his head, rolling his eyes "Yeah, yeah. But the point is, everyone makes mistakes. You just need to fix them."
Danny was silent, looking at Sam, lost in thought. Sam was right, but he didn't know how to fix it. He had hurt his mother deeply, he remembered how she had broken down when she told him the secret she had kept for years.
"I'll try... Thanks Sam."
"Danny, it's not about trying, you have to do it. They love you very much, that's what I see." Before hanging up, Sam told Danny what he suspected. She wanted him to understand that he was living in love, not lying like Danny saw.
Sam had been friends with Danny long enough to understand how easily he could get lost in his thoughts and decisions. At times like that, Sam and Tucker were always there to help him out of those things. And this time Sam was the same. Plus, Danny's parents were going crazy at school and Sam wanted peace.
***
It was late at night when Danny returned home from Infinite Realm. He stood anxiously in front of the door, not knowing whether to open it or not. Suddenly, his mother's scream rang out from the door.
"I'm going to find Danny, don't even think about stopping me!"
"Maddie, honey! You can't just go like that, what if you get into danger?" Danny heard his father's voice, it seemed like he was trying to stop his mother because he also heard him fall.
Danny stepped back, the door opened. He smiled nervously "Hello mom..."
"Danny! Oh... Where did you go? Are you hurt? Are you okay?" Maddie was stunned when she saw her son, Danny, in person standing in front of the door. She didn't hesitate to hug him, anxiously checking him "Do you know that I've been looking for you everywhere. I was really scared that something would happen to you, don't ever do that again, okay!"
Danny felt his mother's body tremble as she hugged him, his shoulders were a little damp from her tears. He hugged her, slowly squeezing her body. His tears couldn't help but flow, hugging his mother tighter.
"I...I...I'm sorry..." Danny burst into tears in Maddie's arms.
"Oh Danny...It's okay. Mommy not mad, stop crying, my little Star." Maddie looked at her son sobbing in her arms, she gently wiped his tears, comforted him.
Danny...Daniel...Danal...
Maddie didn't care what his name was, she didn't care if he was her blood or not. She didn't care about anything. She only knew that Danny was her son, she raised him, took care of him. Danny was her son to her. Maddie didn't want him to be hurt, she wanted him to live a normal life.
"Your birth mother is a very special person. She is a very important person to me..." Maddie pulled out a small bamboo basket that she kept upstairs, or rather, hidden upstairs.
Danny looked at the bamboo basket, he watched his mother take out another photo of his birth mother. He had never seen his mother speak so respectfully to anyone outside of the family. He began to wonder what kind of person his birth mother was.
"You two seem very close... Like best friends." Danny looked at the photo of the necklace together, he said softly.
But Maddie just laughed in an incomprehensible way, she sighed. It seemed like she had a lot of things in her heart that were hard to say.
"Almost. Your mother and I grew up together in a place... where there was no love. Your mother..." Maddie paused, she looked into Danny's eyes, as if she saw Talia when she was his age. The old memories immediately ran through her mind like old movies.
Everything seemed like it had just happened. Maddie still remembered very clearly the day she met Talia, the first time they knew each other. In the League of Assassins, there was no love, no friendship, no useless weaklings, only the strong and respect. That was where she grew up, she didn't know who her parents were, she wasn't allowed to know either, the only person Maddie was close to was her aunt but that was because she needed someone to take care of her at that time because she was still a child.
One day, her aunt took her to the League of Assassins headquarters, they wanted to test the children being raised there. Maddie was only 10 years old at that time. That was her first time killing someone, she successfully passed that horrible test.
"Your biological mother, Talia is the princess of that place. I was chosen by them to protect Talia, but... Things gradually changed."
Maddie remembered when she met Talia, she was cold and arrogant standing next to her father. From respect for the leader, it gradually turned to admiration. The distance between her and Talia gradually closed.
"The relationship between us became closer, to the point that we shared every secret and every weakness. No one knew about the close relationship between us." Maddie's voice trembled, she realized that she was shedding tears. "In that dark place, Talia and I considered each other as the only light."
Danny was silent, listening to every word his mother said. His breathing slowed as he heard his mother talk about her past life, what he heard was beyond his imagination. He never thought his mother, Maddie and his biological mother, Talia, would be in such a bad place. But he also never thought that their relationship went beyond friendship, Danny didn't need to hear his mother's confirmation to understand that they were family.
Everything became silent...
"It's very late, you should go to sleep." Maddie put all the things in the bamboo basket, she also took the necklace back from Danny's hand. She urged him, "You need to get enough sleep. We'll talk more about this tomorrow."
"Wait a-" Danny didn't have time to say anything before Maddie pushed him back to the room.
He turned his head to ask more, how could he sleep when the secret only had a quarter of the answer. Danny still had a lot of problems to clear up. But his mother had closed his bedroom door and left in a hurry.
Danny sighed helplessly.
"Danny? Are you still awake?" Jazz's voice rang out, he gently opened the door for her.
He was surprised to see Jazz holding his mother's bamboo basket, she quickly pushed him back into the room and quickly locked the door. She mysteriously pulled the curtains, Danny looked at her in confusion.
"What's wrong, Jazz? You're acting very strange." He said.
But unlike every other day, Jazz didn't argue with him, she turned on the computer and let Danny see.
"I don't want anyone to hear what I found out...Danny..." Jazz looked at Danny, her throat felt like it was being squeezed, she had overheard her parents' horrible conversation after Danny ran away last night.
Everything happened so fast, Jazz didn't have time to prepare for this situation and... Oh my god, she felt every cell in her body screaming.
"Jazz, what happened?" Danny asked worriedly. Suddenly Jazz burst into tears and hugged him "Oh Danny... I wish I could help you more... I hate seeing you hurt."
Danny hugged Jazz tightly. Sometimes he forgot that besides his parents, he also had Jazz, his sister who always supported and protected him. Danny's childhood always had Jazz by his side.
"It's okay Jazz, I'm... better now." He hesitated, not lying, just not knowing what to say.
"Don't lie. I know you, you're confused and bewildered." Jazz punched Danny's arm, she wiped her tears and said, "So I'll help you."
"Uh... that..." Danny wanted to refuse Jazz, he loved his sister but Jazz... was a bad detective.
Suddenly, Danny's room window opened, he looked warily. The people who opened it turned out to be Sam and Tucker, he looked at them in confusion as they sneaked into his room through the window. Suddenly he had a strange feeling, he looked at Jazz who was smiling.
"I called for more support."
"And this support comes with love too." With that, Tucker rushed to hug Danny.
Just as Danny was about to let Tucker go, Sam came forward and hugged him, and then Jazz too. They hugged him tightly, and he couldn't help but laugh. He laughed because he had never had to endure anything alone, he always had his family and friends by his side.
"Okay... Let's get to work. Or should we hug all night?" Danny said helplessly.
They finally let him go.

Under the dark night, the heavy rain, Gotham City, which was already gloomy, became even gloomier as the streets were deserted. The streets were empty, the lights dim under the rain, the streets were silent. Except for a bar, the only one still lit and bustling.
Inside the bar was the sound of loud music, flashing lights of all colors, the shouts of the drunker and the dancers, the bar's band. The door opened, a old man walked in, different from the people in the bar.
"Hello, my old friend." Clockwork tipped his hat to a woman in a black dress sitting at the bar.
She had a mysterious and ghostly beauty, her purple eyes were as dark as Gotham's night sky, her black hair fell loose on her fair skin. She smiled when she saw Clockwork, pointing her glass at him.
"Clockwork, my friend. What brings you to this city of the night?"
"Still beautiful and dangerous as usual, Lady Gotham." Clockwork pulled out a chair and ordered himself a glass of wine. "Can't I come visit you?"
Lady Gotham took a sip of wine and laughed at Clockwork's words, she narrowed her eyes at him. "Visit me? Come on, don't fool me with that mouth."
"Lady Gotham, I never fool you." Clockwork laughed, he took a sip of wine.
The two of them enjoyed their drinks in silence, clearly not caring about the noisy and dangerous environment around them. Lady Gotham finished her glass, she got up from her chair and winked at Clockwork. They left the bar together, strangely enough, the rain stopped as soon as they reached the door of the bar.
"Now. Tell me what you have in mind." Lady Gotham lit herself a cigarette, she tilted her head and smiled mysteriously at Clockwork.
Gotham's night had always been something very sinister, Clockwork did not deny it, even for city ghost. He shook his head and looked at the city and its people, placed between the boundary of good and evil, in a very fragile way. Mysterious, dangerous, evil...His eyes look at Lady Gotham.
"What's wrong? Is it hard to say?" Lady Gotham smiled sinfully and seductively, she exhaled a hazy smoke.
The smoke was like a silk scarf wrapped around Clockwork, caressing his neck, caressing his chin, like a light kiss. Clockwork stepped back, escaping that dangerous, sinful, enchanting smoke.
"How are your knights?" He waved his hand to disperse the smoke, Lady Gotham just squinted at him and continued smoking.
"It's fine. Since when have you cared about my knights?" Lady Gotham's voice gradually became dangerous. "Is there something that bothers you about them?"
Clockwork looked at the sky that had become gloomy again, the smell of smoke became more acrid like the smell of gunpowder, he just smiled.
"Can't I ask them?"
"Enough of that!" Lady Gotham became angry, she stomped her foot, the sky of Gotham turned black with thunder and lightning. Smoke surrounded Lady Gotham, her human form faded away and she appeared as her ghost form.
The thunder and lightning struck where Clockwork stood as strangely the lightning stopped, or rather everything stopped. Clockwork also stopped disguising himself as a human, he returned to his ghost form.
"Speak, what do you need Clockwork?" Lady Gotham hissed.
"Your knights. For our young king." Lady Gotham's expression turned to shock as soon as Clockwork spoke. She retracted the lightning "Why do you need my knights for our young king? He already has Fright Knight."
"You know the reason, Lady Gotham. The story of the little bat you've been watching for the past four years."
"Ah... The heir to the Dark Knight." Lady Gotham let out a small cry, understanding what Clockwork meant. However, she still didn't understand why their young king would need a human knight when he came here. If he needed one, she would be there.
"You know our king isn't entirely a ghost, he still needs protection from humans."
"But he's not that weak." Lady Gotham laughed at Clockwork's silly worries. "Remember who he defeated. He's strong enough to make all the ghost kneel before him."
Clockwork didn't deny what Lady Gotham said, but to him, Danny was still just a boy, nothing more, nothing less. He was still young enough to do everything.
"Oh ghost, Clockwork, he's not a child anymore." Lady Gotham rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Just in case." Clockwork smiled, he shrugged and said, "He'll be here in two days, help me with that. For the sake of our King?"
Lady Gotham sighed, annoyed, nodding in agreement. They shook hands, their wrists engraved with each other's names, a sign that the deal was done. She rubbed her wrist in annoyance.
"This is for our little king. I still hate you." Lady Gotham said.
"Heh... You are not only person hate me." Clockwork turned the clock on his staff, a portal opened. He bowed "Goodbye, my friend."
"Don't come near my city again, you dead clock!" Lady Gotham shouted, watching Clockwork go through the portal. She sighed and looked up at the sky of the city.
Another sleepless night in Gotham.

A day and six hours...Danny took a day and six hours to figure out Clockwork's hint. A day and six hours of him, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker nearly drowning in information and puzzles.
"God...I hate Clockwork and his stupid puzzles." Tucker said tiredly, throwing a cold glass of water in his face.
The three of them were in the mall, at the smoothie stand. Tucker was sprawled out on the table, dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep. Sam and Danny were no exception, as they also had dark circles under their eyes, Danny the worst, from both searching for information and keeping up with his kingly duties. Jazz had thought they needed some fresh air after the puzzles, so she'd pushed them here.
And of course it didn't work very well.
"At least we got the information we needed." Sam yawned, she picked up the third cup of coffee and drank it all. She looked at Danny who was dozing off on the table, she took the cold water from Tucker and threw it at him.
"Ah...What? I'm Ghost King..." Danny woke up with a start, he was talking nonsense. He held his face and groaned, tiredly "I need a good night's sleep and a vacation."
"No need say that, buddy. You've needed those for a long time." Tucker raised his eyebrows at Danny, he pointed and said.
Tucker was right. Danny needed a vacation for a long time, ever since he became king, but no... Instead, he worked like crazy, solving the troubles left by the previous "king". Not to mention the newly born ghosts, always causing trouble every time they were in the human world. And Vlad too... Ugh. Danny always had a headache because of his persistence.
"Tucker was right, Danny. You should have rested and relaxed a long time ago, but instead you worked like crazy." Sam tilted her head and pulled out a plane ticket and a travel guide. She tossed it to Danny. “Here. I bought it for you.”
“Gotham’s sightseeing guide? Isn’t this a-” Danny looked at the travel guide, he said vaguely. But Sam cut him off. “Yeah. A plane ticket to that city to find that black ghost Clockwork was talking about, and treat it like a vacation.”
“But-”
“No buts, man. You need to get away from this…thing. And relax. Me, Sam, Jazz, and Red Hunter here, we can handle it.” Tucker shoved the apple garnish on the smoothie into Danny’s mouth, stopping him from speaking. He patted Danny’s shoulder, trying to convince his best friend to take a vacation, away from work " Just chill bud."
Danny chewed on the apple in his mouth, struggling to make a decision. Sure, he needed a break, but he couldn’t leave his duty and the people he needed to protect. Not to mention the mess Pariah Dark left behind. And the ghosts that were running amok and...
"When can I go?" Danny asked Sam. Both Sam and Tucker were happy.

Wayne's family had never been as...chaotic as it was today.
It was always chaotic, but today was different. Bruce sat on the couch watching his kids argue loudly, he glanced at Damian, who had been quiet since the family meeting.
He sighed again, tiredly watching the other kids argue. His headache was coming back, he tried not to lose his temper with his kids. Bruce had called a family meeting to talk about Damian and now it had turned into an argument.
"This isn't going anywhere." Damian frowned, he was about to stand up and leave but was stopped by Bruce.
"Damian, we haven't decided what to do yet." Bruce calmly said but Damian shook his hand away, he snapped "What for? What if my brother... Forget it."
Damian clenched his fist, bit his lip, silently sat back down. Since Talia gave him that secret, she had never appeared again and had not sent anything else related to Damian's twin brother. This confused and angered him because of his mother's indifference.
"That's great. We had a demon here and now there's another one out there." Jason sneered angrily.
Damian's hand clenched.
"Come on Jaylay. He's our brother after all!" Dick tried to convince Jason to accept, he said.
Damian's lips tightened.
"Oh right. Just add another little demon for thí family. Oh and maybe that kid have a killing plan for us." Jason said angrily, this directly angered Dick, he pointed at Jason's face and shouted "CAN'T YOU BE NICE TO YOUR BROTHER FOR ONCE? THE BOY IS OUT THERE AND MIGHT BE IN DANGER!"
Damian's heart clenched.
"Dick calm down. Jason too, we don't need to fight here." Tim saw the situation escalate, he stopped them.
"Don't be so nice, Replacement." Jason mocked Tim, this also angered Tim. He snapped "Stop it, Jason. Don't being such a jerk!"
"Oh sorry. For being such a jerk,Replacement ." Jason hissed. Tim was so angry that he wanted to rush up and beat Jason up but was stopped by Step.
"Forget it Tim, it's not worth it." Step said, them Tim step back his sit. She look at Jason " Jason, that not nice at all. Damian have a twin brother and now he lost. We are family, we must help him."
" Help him?" Jason mocked, he laughed " Look he care about that? Even their mother doesn't care. If we go find that kid, how we can so sure he still alive?"
Damian's eyes was closed. His lung was burn.
" Jason!" Step shouted. But Jason still keep mocked them, that make they angry. Step can't hear any more, she yell " Stop it, Jason! We get it, you don't want help. That fine, you suck a selfish person!"
" What!" Jason shouted, he already to fight " If i was a selfish, you and every one else doesn't better than me. Addmit it, all of you scared."
But Cass stop him and Step, she shook her head. Jason stop what he did and sat down, he silent. Step also step back and sat down. They never can agreed with anything for one time, it hard for them. They are stubborn and can be a bit selfish.
" Okay...How about we rest a bit." Duke remained silent throughout most of this heated argument, only daring to speak up when things calmed down a bit thanks to Cass. He asked for a break from the tension.
They all agreed with him. One by one go out room for a break, Duke and Cass watched they leaved.
" Let me talk with them, you two can talk with Damian for me? He look wasn't okay at all."
Before leave, Bruce ask them a favor. Then loud yells rang, he sigh tiredly.
" Thanks for back up, Cass." Duke signed, he looked at Damian, he still sit there and...hurt. Duke and Cass look each other, they come closed to him.
" Hey...You good?"
Damian surprised that Duke and Cass were still here. When they asked him, he was startled and...unconsciously shed tears. Damian didn't want to admit it but, Jason might be right. He didn't know if Danal was still alive and how his mother was indifferent to it.
"I don't know. Everything became..." Damian choked, he couldn't make any sound other than sobs. Duke reached out to gently pat him, he looked at Cass.
Cass took Damian's hand, she patted his hand gently "Don't hold it in anymore, Damian. It's a pain that no one can understand."
"Everything happened so suddenly, it left you disoriented. You don't need to hold it in, Damian." Duke told him, he handed him a handkerchief "Like I said, think and feel what you really need."
"The decision is yours, Damian. No one can change it." Cass nodded, she spoke calmly.
In a moment, Damian trembled and hugged Cass tightly and... he cried. Damian didn't know when was the last time he cried and for what reason, but this time he cried because of the pain Talia caused. He can feel how his heart hurt badly. Cass gently stroked his head to comfort him, Duke standing next to him also stroked his back to comfort him.

Danny sat in front of his parents, Maddie and Jack. Silently watching them read the Gotham travel guide, he was so nervous that he was shaking his legs constantly.
"So...?" He looked at them and asked.
Maddie calmly put the travel guide down on the table, she looked at Danny and... A small smile. Something Danny really needed, his nervous spirit was released immediately.
"A trip. That sounds great!" His mother said.
"I don't know... to Gotham? Across the country." In contrast to Maddie's cheerfulness, Jack spoke worriedly, Danny looked at his mother worriedly.
He and Sam and Tucker had made up a school trip to Gotham to fool his parents. However, making it up was one thing and getting his parents to agree was another.
"Come on Jack. It'll be a great trip for Danny's development. Plus, Danny'll learn a little more about his... roots there." Maddie comforted her husband, convincing him to let Danny go on this trip. She really wanted Danny to go to Gotham and maybe see his real father there.
Maddie really wanted to take Danny to meet his real father herself but she couldn't. Her status was very sensitive, if she left this town, she would most likely be hunted down again. And she would put Danny in danger by being near her.
"I don't know... Gotham? That place is a bit... dark." Jack said worriedly, rubbing his neck, remembering Gotham City.
In Jack's memories when he was young, before he came to live in Amity, he had spent some time in Gotham. And it wasn't good at all. Jack had seen too many crime sprees in Gotham, and he wasn't too happy to hear that Danny was going to travel there.
"Come on, Dad. I promise it'll be a safe trip." Danny pleaded with his father. "We'll just go to the city museum and then Metropolish." He was lying, of course he was lying.
Except for the fact that he was the Phantom and the King of Ghosts, this was the biggest lie he'd ever told. God... His conscience was really bad.
"Hmm... Okay." Jack sighed and nodded.
Maddie kissed him on the cheek, and they signed the papers for Danny.
"I still think this is a bad idea." Jack watched Danny happily take the papers and run back to his room, whispering to his wife.
"Jack, I know you have bad memories of Gotham, but Danny... he has connections to that place." Maddie looked at Jack, holding his hand and said. Jack could see her worry, even though she kept avoiding it.
Danny was his son and would always be his son. Jack knew who Danny's real father was and he selfishly didn't want him to meet his real father. He had watched Danny grow up, taught him, cared for him...He didn't want to be away from Daniel.
"I understand Maddie...I understand..."
Maddie smiled and hugged Jack. She understood his hesitation, they had both raised Danny.
They were Danny's parents. Blood or not.

"Are you sure this is a good plan?"
Danny was at the airport, with Sam, Tucker, and Jazz with him. Of course Valerie was there, she was the Red Hunter and scary enough to keep ghosts away from town when he wasn't around.
"Of course Val. I'll only be gone for a few days, while you and Sam and Tucker make sure the town isn't haunted." Danny said confidently. But Valerie was very skeptical of Danny's words.
"What if some ghost wants to take your throne and invades the town with an army of ghosts?" Valerie said seriously. But instead Sam and Tucker laughed.
Sam finished laughing and put his hand on Valerie's shoulder and said, "Don't ruin Danny's mood. You don't know how tired he is from that job!" She said in a threatening tone.
"Let him have a great vacation, Val. We can handle it here!" Tucker stood next to Danny, confidently saying. Valerie looked at Danny again, hoping that he wasn't joking when he let Tucker join the town defense mission in his absence.
Of course, contrary to Valerie's hope, Danny chuckled.
"Tell me you have a backup plan." Valerie said helplessly, covering her face.
"We have Jazz." Sam stood next to her and pointed at Jazz who was clumsily adjusting the equipment.
"We're doomed." Valerie said, Sam nodded.
Danny didn't want to go, but he also didn't want to make them worry too much, they said he needed a vacation. And Danny agreed.
"Enjoy yourself, brother!" Jazz gave Danny one last hug before he boarded the plane. Danny happily hugged her back.
He waved goodbye to his sister and his friends and boarded the plane to Gotham. On the plane, Danny tried to relax but he was still nervous about leaving work behind. He distracted himself by reading something related to Gotham.
"Jezz...How do they live in such a chaotic place like this?" Danny muttered under his breath as he read a Gotham newspaper or two.
His new impression of Gotham was that it was a chaotic and dangerous place with criminals everywhere, and interestingly enough, they also had heroes. A lot of them, which intrigued Danny. When he flipped to the next article, he caught his breath when he saw a boy who looked exactly like him, except...the eyes. Green.
"Damian Wayne...Damian." Danny read the name, trying to feel the familiarity.
The plane landed. Danny took a taxi to Gotham City. He looked at the city where his twin brother lived, everything was so strange to him. The people, the vehicles, and even the weather here. Everything had a gloomy, mysterious look. Danny relied on the instructions Sam gave him, he chose a small hotel to stay in. He had to thank Sam for paying for his travel, paying here was all the expenses.
"Sam... You're really cool!" After checking in, Danny went to visit the city, he went to the first museum and what he saw there were a lot of ghosts.
Not exactly the kind that Danny usually sees, they were just floating green balls. He felt quite funny when he saw the small ghosts clinging to his feet and following his every step like chicks.
"Oh... I'm sorry." Danny, while teasing the little ghosts, accidentally stepped on a policeman's foot, he immediately backed away and apologized.
The policeman was stunned for a moment before reacting, he bowed his head and said it was okay to Danny and left. Danny saw a glimpse of the policeman's face as if he had seen a ghost, he looked at the little ghosts flying around his feet. Obviously no one could see them, maybe it was because of him? Clockwork had said that his presence was sometimes sensitive to people with excessive faith.
"Nah..." Danny shook his head and continued to visit.
The ghosts followed Danny more and more, they took him to visit many things. And Danny had to admit that they were very talkative, very different from the living people of this city. He stopped at the superhero sightseeing area, all the exhibits there belonged to the heroes of the world.
"Hm... Wow, they have a lot of heroes." Danny exclaimed, taking a small souvenir photo with his phone.
Suddenly, the electricity in the museum flickered strangely, Danny stood still, feeling a new code being born. A cold breath escaped from his mouth.
"Great... The vacation has just begun and I have to deal with a new ghost." Danny covered his face and groaned.
The truth is that no matter where Danny is, the ghosts will not spare him. Because he is the King of Infinite Realm, the King of Ghosts, the Keeper of Death. Danny looked dejectedly at the ghost with its hand corroded by acid until the bones were exposed, he felt nauseous at that sight, screaming to destroy the museum.
Danny's ears continuously heard the crying of that ghost.
He sighed, just as he was about to transform and do his job, a group of people wearing strange costumes suddenly appeared and surrounded the newly born ghost. Danny was a bit surprised, but he quickly realized who they were.
"Signal, Spoiler, block this place. Red, can you tell us what we're facing?" Nightwing blocked the strange attack of the thing that was neither human nor alien.
"I don't know. There's no sign of life at all!" Red Robin said, he immediately jumped to avoid the statue that was charging straight at him.
Nightwing quickly discovered that the liquid it secreted was acid, his staff was immediately corroded in half. Nightwing quickly threw the staff away.
"Be careful. Don't attack directly, that thing is strong acid!" He shouted to warn the others.
A large amount of acidic foam shot out from the ghost, Signal accidentally got hit by it. His armor was quickly corroded, Signal groaned in pain. Spoiler saw Sighnal being attacked, she immediately ran to help him but immediately her body felt like it was being squeezed and lifted up by something.
" Spoiler!" Signal held his chest in pain, ran to help Signal but he was thrown away by something, he hit hard against the stone pillar. Spoiler was also thrown out the window.
" Signal. Spoiler!" Nightwing shouted.
" What the hell is that thing?" Red Robin threw away the acid-corroded cloak, he was scared of that inanimate thing.
Spoiler was thrown out the window, she thought she would have to suffer a strong impact when someone caught her. She raised her head and saw a young face, probably the same age as Damian. The boy had strange white hair, wearing a black jumpsuit, boots and white gloves, and a crown on his head. Or rather, the crown was floating above his head.
"Are you okay?" Danny supported Spoiler, placed her safely on the ground, and asked carefully. Spoiler nodded a little bewildered.
"Thank you." Danny smiled when he heard her say that, then he immediately flew into the museum.
Spoiler stood there watching Danny leave, a little speechless.
Ghosts with specific forms were all people who lived and died with some kind of obsession. Newly born ghosts would be disturbed by the code, the code was their obsession when they were alive. That was what Danny learned from Clockwork. Newly born ghosts were just like living human babies, not much different. But of course there would be some cases that were like a thorn in Danny's butt.
"Hey! Pick someone of the same type to bully!" Danny rushed over and punched the acid ghost away, freeing Nightwing.
He quickly helped Nightwing up. Great, Danny is helping another hero, he will definitely tell Jazz about this as soon as he gets back. Jazz will be surprised.
"Who are you?" Nightwing looked at Danny in shock, he held his head and thought he had hit it too hard.
But Danny just chuckled "I'm the one who will save you from this trouble!" He puffed out his chest and said.
Suddenly the scream rang out again, Danny sighed. He looked at the newly born ghost who was going crazy and causing trouble, his mood went down.
"Enough!" Danny snapped "How dare you act like that in front of me! King of the Infinite!"
Danny's shout made everything shake, Nightwing frowned and covered his ears. He couldn't hear what Danny said but it must have been something that scared the creature so much that it bowed before him.
"Go back to the Infinite!" Danny glanced at the ghost kneeling on the ground, trembling, and said softly.
A green portal appeared and the ghost was quickly sucked in. Danny sighed tiredly. That was enough for today. Danny disappeared into thin air under the stunned gazes of Gotham's heroes. He left them bewildered and terrified by his presence.
Chapter Text
At the headquarters of the Assassin League, Talia stood watching the children who were only twelve or thirteen years old practicing. She silently watched them, some children secretly smiled at each other and then seriously practiced under her command. Unconsciously, Talia's hand touched her chest but then she realized that she had given that necklace to Damian, she stared blankly into space.
"Dismissed." Talia felt tired and softly ordered, she heard the children cheering but then silently left. She smiled unconsciously when she saw the children leave together.
She and Maddiel were like that. They secretly played together, practiced together. Under her father's extremely strict eyes, she and Maddiel still shared everything together. Suddenly she remembered Damina and...Danial.
Talia wondered if she had never separated the two children, would they have been like her and Maddiel? Would they grow up together, share everything, do everything together? And... She could see both of her sons here, calling her and hugging her. She could hear their laughter...
Talia's footsteps stopped, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry...." She was like that night again, the night she decided to give little Danial to Maddiel. Talia felt hopeless because of that decision, she never wanted it, never wanted to leave her son.
She sat on the ground, crying silently, hugging the newborn blanket tightly, carefully cherishing it. This was the gift that Maddiel gave to her two sons and also her farewell to her son. Not a day had passed that Talia had forgotten her son, not a single day had passed that she had stopped missing Danial. There was a time when Talia really wanted to find Maddiel, wanted to see her son, but reality always got in the way. For the safety of both children, Talia could only grit her teeth and forget that longing, forget how much she loved both children.
"Sir, your son is here to see you." The voice of the guard outside rang out, Talia was silent for a moment before saying, "Tell him to wait."
Outside the gate was Damian, he was not alone but also had Cass and Dick with him. Damian's original intention was not to meet Talia, he wanted Bruce to use the Justice League's information network to find Danial, but he was too immature and underestimated the person who grew up with his mother.
That woman Maddiel hid the information too well, the last trace of her was at a small hospital in a remote village and from then on the information completely disappeared. While he was still wondering where to find more information, his father suggested asking his mother, Damian initially refused the idea but then he had to listen because the traces Maddiel left behind were too scattered.
"Damian..." Talia appeared solemnly, she nodded and greeted him and Cass, Dick came along.
"Tch..." Damian clicked his tongue in annoyance "Mother..."
"...Why don't you and your friends go inside the palace to rest for a bit? We'll talk in there." Talia glanced at Dick and Cass for a moment and then said but Damian didn't have the patience to enjoy tea, he snapped.
"How can you still be so calm? Danial is out there and most likely..." Damian stopped, breathing heavily, he clenched his fists and didn't dare to say the word but Talia knew.
For the first time, Talia took off her cold mask, she let everyone back down, slowly walking closer to Damian. She lifted Damian's face up.
"I want you to understand me, Damian." Unlike what Talia thought, Damian pushed her hand away and shouted harshly.
"SHUT UP! YOU NEVER CARE ABOUT ME OR DANIAL!" Damian was so angry that he almost lost control, everything, everything he kept inside, was revealed.
"If you really cared about us, you shouldn't have separated us. What you did was just selfish! You call yourself a mother but you never did it!" Damian gasped, he took off his hat and mask "Suddenly you said I have a twin brother and then you want me to find him, instead of you finding him yourself. And now you say I have to understand you? How ridiculous!"
Talia was silent, not even daring to look straight at Damian. Each of his words was like a knife stabbing her already wounded heart. She knew Damian had been disappointed in her for a long time but... How painful.
"What? Don't you want to say anything?" Damian said harshly, even when Dick stopped him. But Damian still wanted his mother to say something.
After a few minutes of silence, Damian sneered and left. He never expected Talia to say anything, even a simple apology. Let alone about Danial.
"Damian... Slow down!" Dick saw that things weren't going well so he stopped Damian from leaving, he still hoped Talia would say something.
Damian's anger and utter disappointment towards Talia made him unable to listen to anything anymore, he ignored Dick and left. Suddenly Cass blocked his way, she silently looked at him, slowly shaking her head.
"Get out of the way!" Damian didn't care much, he pushed her away.
Cass immediately grabbed his wrist, she frowned and stared at him. Damian continued to shake his hand away and stubbornly left, but then Talia's voice rang out.
" Fenton!" Damian stopped, he looked at Talia " Fenton..."
She repeated that name, Damian was silent and left. Cass quietly looked at Talia, she let out a soft sigh before chasing after Dick and Damian. Talia watched them leave and then she laughed at her own cowardice, everything Damian said was true.
A mother? Talia didn't dare accept that title. Even though she had given Dainal to Maddiel, she still had Damian and the fact that Talia had become distant from him because of her own selfishness. She hurt her own child.
***
On the jet, Damian had been sitting silently since takeoff, which made Dick worried. He wanted to comfort him again, but Cass stopped him.
"Don't. Let him handle his emotions."
"This is a special problem, not just a few words of comfort. Please understand." Cass realized that Dick didn't believe her much, so she continued to hope that he understood Damian's situation right now.
Seeing this, Dick could only sigh and continue to fly the jet.
When he got home, Damian still didn't say a word. He was still silent, but his mind was filled with a bunch of tangled thoughts, those thoughts made it hard for him to breathe, feeling like he was being drowned in cold water. His mother, Talia, was both selfish and irresponsible, what she did hurt him but the worst was when she told him about his brother and then kept quiet as if it was just a joke. Damian didn't want to say it but Talia in his heart no longer had respect.
"Damian."
"Father." Damian was sitting in his bedroom, holding the necklace that Talia gave him, suddenly Bruce appeared. He was startled and instinctively hid the necklace but Bruce noticed.
He gently but still somewhat awkwardly sat down next to Damian, hesitantly said "Do you want to talk?"
Damian looked at Bruce confusedly, he shook his head but Bruce said
"Listen... I heard Dick talk about the meeting between you and Talia today. I understand you feel hurt because of Talia... and I also understand why you are angry." Bruce paused for a moment "I'm not a good father, i don't know how to be a great father, but ...I want help you find Danal."
"Really?" Damian was a little surprised when Bruce asked him "For what?"
"Nothing. Because you are my son, and so is Danal. Even though I haven't met him yet. Me, you, Dick, Jason, Tim, Step, Cass, even Alfred, we are family and family doesn't abandon anyone." Bruce said slowly, he looked at Damian, a little nervous waiting for his reaction.
Damian was silent, his fingers tightened around the necklace that belonged to Danal, he hesitated for a moment but still took it out. Bruce's hand covered the necklace in his hand.
"We'll find Danal together."
"Hm...Thank you, Dad." Damian felt his throat tighten but his words were surprisingly light. Bruce smiled, taking the initiative to hug him.
That night, Damian asked for help from his family members for the first time. Surprisingly, they all agreed, including Tim and Jason.
"Hey, I just hate you because of your temper, it has nothing to do with this family." Tim sat on the chair and laughed, he shrugged and said, happily patting Damian's head "Because you're part of this family, I'm always willing to help."
This family? Even Danal?
Damian was suprise, but still not used to being touched, but he doesn't showed discomfort as usual, he looked at Jason again. Jason was looked at until he was uncomfortable, he stood up and walked in front of Damian.
"Because you're part of this damn family!" Then he left. "Call if you need anything!"
Before leaving completely, Jason shouted.
Because he was part of this family... If Danal was here, he was also part of this family too.
Chapter Text
Danny was uncomfortable... Actually, very uncomfortable being stared at. The little ghosts followed him, everywhere and every step he took, even though they didn't hurt anyone, it made Danny uncomfortable. He was okay with them making noise around him but he wasn't okay with them following and looking at him every day. Plus there were a lot of people staring at him like he was some weirdo who liked to talk to himself when he was communicating with these little ghosts.
"Come on! Don't you guys have anything else to do?" Danny poked the little ghost floating in front of him and said softly.
The little ghost shook its head and hugged his cheek, happily making a small purr. Danny sighed, he guessed this was a cat ghost.
Gotham wasn't so bad, at least for someone who had to deal with supernatural things every day like Danny, this place was fine. Danny had only been here for two days and he noticed that this city had a very specific order, even though crime was everywhere, something still kept this place under control. In his estimation, a place with so many criminals should have a lot of ghosts born from the unjust deaths, but Gotham doesn't have any.
"Number 16... a happy meal for Danny..."
"Here!"
The waiter called out, Danny immediately threw the problem he was thinking about aside, happily taking the bag of food. Sam had paid for his meals at the hotel he was staying at, but of course Danny chose food from the fast food restaurant. If Sam knew he was eating this "full of nutrients", she would be furious.
"Great... They forgot my fries!" Danny opened the bag to look and found that he was missing fries, although he didn't want to, he still had to go back to the store.
However, there was a small problem... Danny was stunned when he saw the store being robbed by a group of people wearing clown masks. He saw the staff telling him to save himself, then he was pointed at by the robbers with guns.
"Um... Am I not in the right place?" Danny chuckled nervously, one of the robbers pushing him towards the hostages.
Another great night...
Danny sat in the hostages, watching the robbers act strangely, taking money and jewelry and juggling like they were clowns in a circus. It reminded Danny of the freak show that used to run rampant in Amity Park, after that he couldn't remember the last time he saw a circus.
"What's wrong with them?" Danny asked in a low voice. "They look like a bunch of weird clowns. A bunch of weird, ugly clowns."
"They're the Joker's henchmen!" The clerk said with a worried look on his face, made even worse by the fact that he was covering his mouth as if he was about to inhale something bad.
Danny looked around confused, everyone was the same. Danny knew who the Joker was, he was Batman's worst enemy, but wasn't he already in jail? So why should they be afraid of his weird henchmen?
While Danny was still confused, a hazy green toxic smoke spread throughout the store, before he could figure out anything, the innocent hostages were all rolling around laughing uncontrollably. He saw the robbers wearing gas masks quickly take the stolen goods and leave, but the hostages were still laughing uncontrollably. In a moment, Danny was overwhelmed by the cold air coming out of his mouth.
"No way..." Danny quickly walked out of the store when he saw that not only the fast food restaurant, but many other stores were also attacked by that hazy green toxic smoke.
Danny had never felt so many deaths, everything around became chaotic and out of control when the coded ghosts started to be born. They attacked everything around them without stopping.
"This is too bad!"
Unable to stand by and watch any longer, Danny transformed. He took a deep breath and hoped that his Ghostly Wail could push back some of the toxic gas.
His scream immediately shook the buildings violently, luckily the gas dissipated but what was left behind was what Danny hated the most. Ghosts.
These newborn ghosts were behaving strangely, more like they were being controlled. Danny watched them swarm and attack all over the city, and this was definitely not the normal behavior of newborn ghosts.
" ENOUGH!" Danny shouted angrily, his roar echoing throughout the Gotham sky.
Unlike what Danny thought, they did not stop like last time, his orders were completely ignored. As the ruler of the realm of the dead, this was the first time Danny had been like this.
Just as he was still stunned by what had just happened, he was attacked by the ghost, he was completely surprised, his body was thrown by it and crashed into the lamp post. Danny was sore, holding his head and looking at the ghost approaching him with another lamp post.
"Awesome..." Danny groaned in his mouth.
Danny was prepared for the lamp post to knock him away again but suddenly he heard a call in his ear, or rather a summoning, someone was summoning him. A green circle appeared around him and pulled him to another place.
Green flames rose fiercely in the middle of the summoning circle, John Constantine used all his strength to keep the summoning circle from exploding, his nosebleed was flowing uncontrollably.
***
"John! Do you know what you're doing?" Zatanna Zatara was trying to pull the evil spirits away from the area where John was casting spell, creating space and time for him to perform the summoning spell.
John's mind was gradually spinning because the summoning spell took up almost all of his strength. This was his craziest summoning, he was summoning something beyond his power, but this was the only thing stopping these spirits from rampaging.
"John... I don't want to rush you!" Wonder Woman dodged the attacks, supporting Zatanna and protecting John. "But we're being overwhelmed!"
"John! Hurry up before this entire city is taken over!" Green Lantern screamed as he tried to counterattack, but his attacks basically did not harm them.
Like Green Lantern, Superman's superhuman strength could not hurt them, on the contrary, he was continuously attacked and overwhelmed, he shouted "John!"
John used all the power of the summoning circle, he was angry at being urged and angry when the fire got worse.
"I'm trying! Stop urging!" John wiped his nosebleed, trying to stay awake.
The fire in the summoning circle suddenly burned bigger, John was immediately thrown away, an explosion was heard, the fire spread everywhere. John was helped up by Superman, he watched the fire spread out of control.
"John! What the hell are you doing?" Batman immediately questioned him about the fire and John did not know what he had done.
In the middle of the dim summoning circle appeared a figure standing in the middle of the fire, John's heart was squeezed, he had difficulty breathing as he watched the figure walk out of the gradually shrinking fire.
"That's..." Zantanna couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the crown of fire burning. John coughed up a mouthful of blood, smirking "Let's meet the biggest nightmare of our lives, the Ruler of the Dead, the King of Infinite Realm"
Danny was summoned, logically he needed a summoning offering, if he agreed to the offering then he would appear. However, he realized that the place he was summoned was the center of Gotham and was in uncontrolled chaos caused by ghosts. Danny immediately responded to the summoning without an offering.
"You dare summon the king of the dead without an offering?" Zantanna felt that John was crazy to dare to do that, according to history books, the King of Infinite Realm was a cruel person, only when there was a worthy tribute would he fulfill the summoner's request.
"We need a plan to deal with those souls and that's the only plan I have." John also had no other choice but to risk his life that he had kept until now thanks to tricking the death gods, he summoned the King of the Infinite Realm which was also the only thing he could do to save humanity.
Wonder Woman couldn't believe John's plan, inviting one of the representatives of death to solve their problems? Crazy!
"I know you're crazy but this is too much." Green Lantern spoke Wonder Woman's mind.
John was a bit annoyed by what he was told but mission was still the first priority, he stepped forward, secretly hoping that this king was easier to talk to than the others.
"King of Infinite Realm, please help us." John said cautiously.
Danny stared at John, he was choked by the smoke, his hand waving the smoke away also accidentally extinguished the fire that was hiding him. John couldn't help but smirk when he saw Danny.
He summoned a teenager.
"Oh great. Sorry about the fire." Danny hissed when he saw the green fire spreading to some places, he didn't mean to cause any more trouble for the other heroes. "I'm still learning how to control them."
"You're...King of Infinite Realm?" John asked hesitantly, Danny raised an eyebrow at him.
"Ooooooh..." He let out a soft gasp, realizing that it wasn't common for him to replace Pariah Dark as king of Infinite Realm, he had only replaced him for half a year. "You probably don't know that Infinite Realm has changed kings, right?"
John shook his head immediately, seeing that Danny didn't know where to start but the screams of the townspeople pulled him back to the main point. The newborn ghosts.
"We'll talk later. Now, can someone briefly explain...that?" Danny turned back to look at the chaos running around, he tilted his head and said.
Batman assessed the King of Infinite Realm before him, somewhat not believing John's plan but he had no other choice. He stepped forward to explain the problem to the young king.
"We were attacked by an old enemy, he somehow combined his poison with an ancient power, creating a gas that can transform people into...That." He pointed at the ghosts that were rampaging everywhere.
Danny felt a slight headache from the screams and cries of these newborn ghosts, not to mention that they were being controlled by something. This made his headache worse, the only time he had to face a newborn ghost was when Clockwork accidentally sent him into the black timeline.
"Okay, stop... I SAID STOP!" Danny clapped his hands to ask them to stop, but the newborn ghosts continued to cause havoc, he felt like he was really being teased beyond his limit.
His screams made the ground shake, followed by green flames that burned through the cracks in the ground. Legions of ghosts appeared from those cracks, each carrying iron chains, led by a knight in black armor. He walked in front of Danny and knelt before him, Danny ordered.
"Find and bring the cause of chaos to me, take these ghosts back to where they belong!"
"As you command, my king." Fright Knight respectfully obeyed Danny, drawing his sword.
A series of iron chains bound the ghosts that were destroying the city according to Fright Knight's orders, dragging them into the cracks in the ground. Danny was proud of what he had done, when suddenly a Fright Knight soldier holding a chain flew past him, the chain immediately bound John who was standing right behind him.
"Hey! Not him!" Danny shouted, stopping John from being dragged back to Infinite Realm.
John was tied up, full of surprise and fear, but the young king immediately stopped, he avoided a disaster but then John was worried that the young king had something else in store for him.
"After this, remember to remind me to return your soul, it's quite noisy!" Danny turned to John and before he could surprise him, he flew out to Superman and Wonder Woman.
If he didn't say anything, it would be fine, but the new king of the Infinite Realm was very noisy and talkative. He asked Superman countless things, he seemed to be attracted to the stars. Superman was asked until he didn't know how to answer, suddenly Danny said.
"Your name is Clak, right? Pa Kent talks about you all the time, don't you find it strange that you're an alien?"
"What!" Clak suddenly exclaimed, he didn't even have time to ask Danny about what he said before he flew over to Wonder Woman.
"Diana Prince, right? I've been curious about you, Pandora often shows me your exploits." Diana was surprised that Danny knew her identity, he even knew her history.
John was healed by Zantanna so he recovered a bit, he whistled softly when he saw Danny flying around Diana and Clark asking all sorts of questions.
"He's so talkative." He exclaimed. "And too friendly."
"Hm" Batman hummed softly, he was still observing Danny. What he saw was that he was no different from a normal teenager, he was curious and friendly, the only problem he didn't understand was why Danny was the king of the dead at such a young age.
"What's wrong?" Green Lantern looked at Batman thoughtfully, he asked him curiously.
"I was thinking... if he's the king of the dead then wouldn't-"
"Oh my god Batman don't say it!" John immediately interrupted Batman, stopping him from talking about the sensitive issue that touched the young king.
It took Zantanna a moment to realize what Batman was trying to say, she looked at Danny in horror. From what she saw, Danny wasn't much younger than Raven, the more she thought about it the more cruel she felt for Danny.
"You too, Zantanna?" John looked at Zantanna who was covering her mouth and looking at Danny, he sighed tiredly "Come on, he's young but he's also very strong, otherwise... oh never mind."
John wanted to explain to them that they didn't need to feel sorry for Danny but the more he spoke the more he felt it was wrong so he kept quiet.
Fright Knight returned with a familiar face that Danny swore he didn't want to remember, he was the reason he couldn't watch the circus normally anymore. There was another person with him, Danny recognized this person.
"Freakshow... I thought you were locked up!" Danny crossed his arms and looked at the crazy clown in red and black, hissing in annoyance.
"Well look who it is, the Young King of Infinite Realm, Phenton." Freakshow fearlessly mocked Danny, making him angry "It's Phantom!"
"Why should I argue with a self-made ghost like you? Fright Knight throw him back...to prison." Danny looked at him with disgust, waving his hand for his knight to take him back to his place of residence.
He turned to the clown with the remaining strange laugh, Joker. In a way, Danny would most likely have a fear of clowns for a very long time. He noticed that Joker seemed very weir and... Danny reached out to touch his forehead and then pulled his hand back, hating what he saw.
"Yeah, he was hypnotized!" Danny rubbed his hands.
All the trouble this time was caused by Joker, he found a way to summon Freakshow in the Infinite Realm. These two weird clowns joined hands to create a gas that could transform people, to Danny it was actually no different than forcing them to die, creating ghosts with extraordinary powers. Joker's goal was clearly just to destroy Batman but Freakshow turned around, he hypnotized Joker, took control of the device and caused the incident just now.
Danny rubbed his neck when he heard Joker's last words before he was transferred back to prison, as far as he could see Joker's life was not much left when he was in contact with a ghost with such power for too long.
"Jezz...Is it that hard to ask for a peaceful vacation?" Danny crossed his arms and looked at the remains, feeling tired that he had not yet escaped his royal "job".
That too much for this night.
Chapter Text
The videotape was distorted, looping over and over in Tim's computer. Since then, he had met a new vigilante target, a self-proclaimed hero who appeared and saved them from a supernatural force. Tim's curiosity urged him to learn more about this vigilante character, but when he extracted the security footage from the museum, something was very wrong.
The videotape was strangely distorted, even though Tim tried to edit it, the tape seemed haunted. He couldn't get the tape to be clear, two days passed, Tim started to feel frustrated.
"Come on Duke, don't be so paranoid!" Tim was drinking his coffee when he heard Step walk in, her voice high and mocking Duke.
"Oh Tim... God, when was the last time you slept???" Step entered the Bat Cave, just in time to see Tim hugging the computer sitting in a corner doing something, she happily greeted him but when she got closer, she hissed when she saw his dark, sleep-deprived eyes.
Tim shrugged, he didn't even remember how long he hadn't slept, he only knew he was trying to find out the mysterious identity of the new vigilante. At this moment, the sound of a motorbike rang out, it seemed Dick had returned.
"You guys won't believe what I've seen!" Dick hurriedly took off his helmet and said, he looked panicked, making everyone look at him curiously.
Dick hurriedly took out his phone to show Tim, Duke and Step the photo he took on the street while patrolling. The photo showed a teenager with black hair, blue eyes, wearing a white T-shirt and wide-leg jeans eating ice cream, strangely he looked exactly like Bruce in an inexplicable way.
"Is that Damian?" Step rubbed her eyes and asked Dick because she knew Damian's eyes were green but the boy in the picture was blue.
"Is this a joke??" Tim was even more incredulous, he thought that he was sleep deprived and saw the boy in the picture as a younger version of Bruce.
"Well I don't think it's a joke right...Dick..." Duke looked at the boy in the picture, finding it hard to believe but he had a slightly crazy hypothesis. He looked at Dick and hoped he would say this was a joke.
But Dick shook his head "No way! It's real!"
Dick himself couldn't believe his eyes, he was just randomly driving around the city on patrol and boom...He came across this "just like Bruce" teenager, at first he thought it might be a coincidence but the more he looked at him the more he saw that the boy looked like Bruce. He took a picture and went home immediately.
"He looks exactly like Bruce! The eye color, the hair, even the way he laughs!" Dick's voice was almost screaming.
"Okay... Calm down Dick." Duke looked at Dick who was about to go crazy because of the boy in the picture, he tried to calm him down. "It could be a coincidence, remember there are many cases of people looking alike even though they're not related by blood."
Dick heard that and thought it made sense and calmed down, right at this moment Cass ran in, behind her was Jason whose face was pale as if there was no blood left.
"What's wrong Cass? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Seeing Cass flustered, waving her arms around wildly, unable to form a single complete word, Step stepped forward to calm her down.
"Jason?" Step looked at Jason, who looked even worse than Cass.
Tim's computer suddenly displayed a notification, he was yawning but immediately closed his mouth, his face pale as he looked at Dick. The notification sent to Tim was from Barbara, she sent a picture, and importantly, the picture had a boy who looked exactly like the one Dick had taken.
"Dick...Everyone." Tim shouted, his hand turning the computer around.
"Coincidence?" Duke still tried to convince himself that it was a coincidence rather than believing that Bruce could have another illegitimate child out there.
Jason took a breath and shouted loudly "That's a coincidence?"
"You too?" Dick asked Jason in surprise, he rolled his eyes and pointed at Cass standing right next to him. "Cass and I both meet."
Cass nodded frantically. "He asked for directions to the city library!"
"We should meet Bruce, right now." Dick immediately pulled the rest of the people to meet Bruce.
The problem was that Bruce wasn't at home, he was at the Justice League headquarters, before they could get there, the last thing they wanted was already at the door of the Wayne mansion. Just as Dick opened the door and was about to rush out with his brothers, he stopped, causing the others to crash into him. They silently watched the teenager wearing a Nasa T-shirt standing in front of the house.
"Hello...um...This is the Wayne house, right?"
Standing in front of the door, the Wayne brothers looked at the boy about Damian's age in surprise, the atmosphere suddenly fell into silence as both sides stared at each other.
Black hair, blue eyes and...just like Bruce!
"Uh...Yeah, this is the Wayne house. Who are you?" Duke was the first to break the awkward atmosphere by speaking first.
"I'm Daniel Fenton, or just Danny. Can I...see Mr. Bruce?" The boy said awkwardly, his fingers constantly rubbing against his shirt, showing that he was nervous.
Jason raised his eyebrows at Danny "For...what...?"
"It sounds a bit funny and unbelievable but...um...I think Mr. Bruce might be my real father. Funny..." Danny was a bit nervous and of course embarrassed, he shrugged and said, his eyes averted a bit.
The atmosphere was silent again, this made Danny even more nervous and embarrassed. He followed the little ghosts' suggestion to go to the library and the best thing was that he met the ghost that protected the order of Gotham City there, Lady Gotham. She was quite quiet and mysterious, if it wasn't for the cold breath that escaped from him, Danny might have been fooled by her excellent human disguise.
Although he really wanted to ask about the chaos last night, and why she didn't show up, Lady Gotham gave him a magazine with the front page about Wayne's house. She suggested Danny go there, before he could ask, she disappeared. Danny just put the question aside and went to Wayne's mansion.
And now... Well, that's awkward.
"If Mr. Bruce isn't here... I can come later-" Danny scratched his head, shrugging.
As soon as he turned to leave, he was pulled back into the house.
"NO NEED!" They said in unison and pushed Danny into the living room.
"You just sit here and wait, I'll call Dad...I mean Mr. Bruce will be back soon!" Dick pushed Danny to sit down on the chair, while Step and Cass brought out some cake and juice and placed them in Danny's hands. Tim somehow found some comic books and put them on the table, Duke found a game console and gave it to Danny.
Then they ran off together.
"Uh...Okay..." Danny saw that the older teenagers were acting strangely, he could only nod in agreement and wait for them to come back.
Everything in the Wayne mansion was really beyond Danny's imagination, it could be said that the things here were even more luxurious than what Vlad's mansion had. Vlad was rich and Danny didn't deny it but damn...His real father could be much richer than Vlad!
Thinking about Vlad's reaction when he found out that Danny came from a rich family Look, he couldn't help but laugh. Danny stood looking at everything in the living room, while waiting for them to return.
"That kid is definitely Bruce's son!" Jason's hand brushed his hair back, absentmindedly saying, as he looked back at Danny in the living room.
"He said his last name is Fenton." Dick exclaimed softly, but Jason didn't understand what that had to do with Danny being here. "So?"
"Jason, that's Damian's twin brother." Cass placed her hand on Jason's shoulder, patted it lightly and said softly. Jason's face turned pale, he immediately looked back at Danny in the living room.
"What-" Jason's mouth was quickly covered by Step's hand, she scolded him in a low voice "Do you want us to die?"
"That's the Little Devil's twin brother?" Jason still couldn't believe that he was Damian's twin, he exclaimed in surprise "That brighter than the sun appearance? They both look completely different!"
They immediately looked back at Danny and his bright smile, then looked at the family photo hanging on the wall. Yup...Jason was right, Danny and Damian were indeed different.
"Maybe he looks like Bruce?" Step tilted her head and said, suddenly Jason laughed, the others immediately covered their mouths.
"Step, Bruce never looks so bright." Tim covered her mouth and said. "Remember how many times Bruce actually smiled. Saying Danny looks like Clark is still understandable."
"Hm...Well...Like Talia?" Step saw that Tim was right so she said Talia again, they looked back at Danny and found the idea even more ridiculous.
Danny looks like Talia? It sounds even more unbelievable than looking like Bruce.
"Talia's personality is very arrogant and she has that royal demeanor. Remember Damian and his manners!" Jason raised an eyebrow.
"Maybe it's the way he was raised?" Tim suddenly spoke up, holding up his phone for the others to see. "The Fentons were... chaotic. To put it mildly."
A rare article about the house where Danny was raised, about their belief in the existence of ghosts and their inventions. The article included a family photo, Danny standing in the middle, hugging his parents and sister, looking very happy.
"This kid is very well-bred. And smart." Tim raised his eyebrows, as he looked at the Amity Park regional report card, Danny's grades were all very high and very even. Except for physical education.
"That kid would rather say look like the Kent!" Tim muttered under his breath as he looked at Danny, who had a particularly bright appearance, which reminded Tim of his boyfriend, Kon. "Or a mix. He smart like the Wayne too."
Dick looked back at Danny "I don't know... Or smile like Kent and be smart like Wayne? It's really..."
"Ridiculous?" Cass continued Dick's words, causing everyone to turn to look at her. "What? Isn't it right?" She wondered.
"Not really, but it sounds too heavy, Cass." Duke said with a forced smile. Cass understood the problem, she let out a very small "oh" sound.
Jason snapped his fingers and said grumpily, "Can we find out who the kid resembles later? Has someone called Bruce yet, or at least Alfred?"
"Alredy have, and Alfred is back, like right now." Tim shook the phone and said, pointing out the window. They rushed to the window to see Alfred carrying food back to the mansion.
They banged on the window frantically, but the old butler didn't pay attention. When he entered the living room, Alfred sensed that there was someone outside the house. He walked to the sofa and saw Danny sitting there reading a comic book, his shoulders shaking slightly as he laughed.
"Oh... Hello sir... Excuse me... um..." Danny was startled when he discovered that there was someone else, he immediately sat up, flustered and not knowing what to do.
Alfred glanced at Danny, he was a bit surprised to see that he looked exactly like his master Bruce when he was young. He smiled politely.
"Oh, you don't need to be nervous. I'm Alfred, the butler of the Wayne family." He noticed the other Wayne kids were gesturing frantically in the distance, he just chuckled and turned to look at the teenager in front of him.
"So cool! I'm Danny, nice to meet you." Danny exclaimed in surprise, excitedly saying. Alfred let out a small laugh.
"So do you need any help? Maybe some snacks while you wait for Mr. Bruce?"
"Okay, I must bothered you so much." Danny said shyly, Alfred chuckled "This is my job. Make yourself at home, I'll bring you some snacks."
With that Alfred left the living room, he walked over and stood in front of the other Wayne kids, raising his eyebrows in anticipation of an explanation for their actions.
"Let me guess. Young Master Damian's twin brother?" He said to their astonishment, before they could explain anything.
"How???" Duke exclaimed. Alfred laughed, calmly carrying the food into the kitchen. "Well, he's just like Master Bruce when he was little. Bright as a little sun, so much memory at that time."
"See, I told you so!" Step turned to look at the others, speaking in a triumphant tone.
Chapter Text
Bruce was in the middle of a meeting with the other members of the Justice League when he received an urgent message from Red Robin. He thought that Tim had gotten himself into trouble again by digging into some mysterious case, but when he opened the message, a photo appeared that shocked him so much that he jumped up while Diana was talking.
"Batman? What's wrong?" Diana wondered as she looked at Bruce...surprised.
"No... Everyone just finish the meeting without me." Bruce said and hurriedly left, leaving the other members in confusion.
Bruce drove back in a hurry, in his mansion, right now there was a boy who looked exactly like him. Black hair, blue eyes... Sharp eyes that were exactly like Talia's. He didn't need to deduce who that kid was, other than that he was his other son.
Fate was always a terrible joke.
Before Bruce could return, Damian had already returned before him. It had been almost half an hour since school ended and Damian still had no one to pick him up, which made him extremely annoyed. Normally, Damian would be picked up by a random person in the house after school, but today there was no one.
"I hate this." Damian was annoyed and called a taxi to go home, he muttered under his breath.
When he arrived in front of the mansion, Damian was extremely angry, he dragged his bag into the house, hoping to find someone in the house to question why no one picked him up, forcing him to call a taxi himself. But when he entered the living room, Damian keenly detected something unusual. He smelled Alfred's cookies and heard a strange giggle, that laughter could only be from an outsider.
"Who are you?" Damian cautiously questioned the stranger who was comfortably sitting on the sofa.
"Oh no...Bat Baby is back!" Dick heard Damian's shout, his face paled as he looked out of the living room, the others followed him. Everyone was worried about Danny, Damian was usually not very friendly with outsiders.
Hearing the loud shout, Danny was startled and dropped the comic book, he stood up and turned around to look. He froze, his eyes wide with surprise, not daring to believe what he saw.
Damian was no better than Danny, he was stunned when he saw the person turn back to look at him. Damian's mouth was slightly open but he couldn't make any sound, his feet retreated slightly, his eyes constantly examining the person in front of him as if he was checking to see if it was real or just a joke.
" Danal..."
" Damian..."
Both spoke at the same time. Their eyes didn't leave each other, Damian moved forward, so did Danny. They only stopped when they were three steps apart.
The others in the distance didn't dare to rush out, they could only watch Damian and Danny silently staring at each other. It was the most uncomfortable silence they had ever seen.
"It doesn't look good. Let's ah-" Dick looked like the situation wasn't looking good, he was about to go out but was pulled back by Cass and Duke. Cass shook her head unhappily "Let them both handle it themselves."
"That's right Dick. We're both worried but we have to let them face it themselves." Duke agreed with Cass, he said.
"But..." Dick was about to argue but his mouth was covered by Cass, she hissed to warn him not to go too far "Dick. We've talked about this already!"
Damian looked at Danny.
Danny looked at Damian.
Their hands touched, both of them suddenly smirked.
"Oh my gosh, this is so weird!" Danny covered his mouth and said, his emotions were very unstable right now, he wanted to laugh but also wanted to cry and maybe even get angry.
"No need to say that." Damian was no better, his hand brushed his hair back, dryly saying. He didn't know whether to cry, or laugh, or be angry and find Talia to question him about this cruel joke.
At this moment, the door suddenly burst open, Bruce was panting, his hair was messy, he looked more disheveled than usual. He was stunned when he saw both of them turn to look at him with eyes filled with complicated emotions. Bruce's mouth opened slightly, he covered his mouth again and looked at Damian and Danny.
"You look more like your father than your mother." Damian laughed, his eyes were hot, his hand touched his cheek, the wet feeling made Damian realize that he was crying but he couldn't stop laughing. The mixed emotions made Damian not know what to do.
"You look more like your mother than your father. Oh my... How stupid." Danny's hands kept wiping away the tears that were flowing, he laughed and said. His emotions were also mixed, although his mouth was smiling, he couldn't stop crying.
Danny sat down on the ground, completely losing control of his emotions, his vision blurred by tears, his whole body was shaking. This wasn't what Danny wanted to do, he just wanted to meet his biological father, he didn't have enough courage to meet his twin brother. If they did meet, Danny thought they would hug each other, not...
Suddenly Damian hugged Danny, he couldn't control his emotions either. His mother, Talia, always told him to hide his emotions because they were the things that made him weak and harmful, but at this moment Damian couldn't do it at all.
They say twins are two hearts but they beat together, they share one soul. At this moment, Damian and Danny were beating together.
Bruce looked at his two little boys hugging and crying, he pursed his lips and stepped forward, his arms holding them both in his arms. The others also stepped out of their hiding places, Dick took the lead, then Duke, Step, Cass, Tim and finally Jason.
"It's okay..." Bruce whispered, hugging both little boys tightly to his chest.
After a while, Danny sat on the chair, holding a cup of hot cocoa that Alfred had made, after calming down, he started to feel embarrassed thinking about what happened earlier. He cried like a child, completely unable to control his emotions. Next to him was Damian, who was also feeling embarrassed, what if Teen Titans knew about this, they would definitely laugh at him. More importantly, he let the others see.
"Are you two okay?" Bruce sat across from them, slowly asking. The twins nodded, making Bruce smile.
"So Danal? or Daniel?" Bruce looked at Danny, tilting his head slightly to ask him. Danny pursed his lips, glancing at Bruce "Just call me Danny... Just Danny."
He said shyly, Bruce nodded slightly, he looked at Damian again but he still just bowed his head and said nothing.
"My mother... My foster mother said that you were my biological father, my biological mother was Talia. Is it true that the two of you had a um... complicated relationship?" Danny asked in a low voice.
Bruce raised his eyebrows slightly at Danny's question, he thought back to his relationship with Talia. To say that his relationship with Talia was complicated was not quite right, at that time both he and Talia were young and full of recklessness. He didn't even know that she was pregnant with his child at that time.
"That's close." He said softly. But Damian clicked his tongue in annoyance, rolling his eyes as if this answer was too common. "Mother used father to oppose grandfather. Father was stupid enough to be used by our mother. That's complicated?"
Danny took a sip of his hot cocoa, his eyes widening slightly as Damian spoke. Well... His mother had mentioned that his biological mother had the most complicated relationship she had ever known. At least not with his mother and his biological father.
"That sounds complicated... Like the relationship between Vlad and my father." Danny said softly, Damian looked back at him in confusion. "My foster father and his college friend." Danny corrected.
"How can they be as complicated as mother and father?" Damian wondered, Danny shrugged and said "Well... My father. My foster father, Jack Fenton, was often fooled by his old college friend, Vlad Master. He had an obsession with having my foster mother, Maddie Fenton, and my foster mother didn't like him very much."
Damian's expression turned ugly. "He sounds ridiculous and weird."
Danny snorted. "You don't know how ridiculous he is. He even wanted you and my sister- ah, my adopted sister, Jazz, to be his children."
"Okay, that guy sounds crazy." Damian said annoyed.
"Hum..." Danny hummed softly.
They fell into silence again. Damian stared at his hot cocoa, asking softly.
"Why... did you come here alone?" Danny pursed his lips, his fingers habitually fiddling with the hem of his shirt when he was nervous. "Looking for you... and mother and father."
"Why?" Damian asked Danny unconsciously, making him stunned. "Why what?"
Damian's cold attitude made Danny confused. He knew Talia was at fault for separating them but she must have had a good reason for doing so. If Damian was angry about that, Danny could understand, but the way Damian said it made Danny feel uncomfortable.
"Look, I know you're not happy that mother separated us and kept it a secret, but she must have had a reason for doing that." Danny rubbed the back of his neck and said.
"By lying and covering it up with a bunch of stupid reasons? Mom is selfish, extremely selfish." Damian said with disgust, which made Danny feel uncomfortable in his stomach.
"Damian, mother had a reason for doing that. Maybe because she wanted to protect us?" Danny's positive thinking made Damian laugh, he said with disgust, "Protect? More like for personal gain."
"Why do you hate our mother so much? She's our blood mother, it's true that she lied but she's our mother." Danny felt annoyed, he put the cup of hot cocoa on the table, looking straight at Damian.
Bruce sat across from his two young sons, realizing that the conversation was not going well, he stood up and wanted to intervene when Damian shouted in a sarcastic and disgusting voice.
"Because she's a cold-blooded liar. She only cares about her own good!"
"How could you say those words about our mother like that! She raised you!" Danny said angrily. "In such a dark place, she did her best to protect you!"
Damian sneered. "Protect? That's right, by raising him to be an assassin and then sending him to his father when he was ten years old!"
"Damian. Enough." Bruce warned.
Danny was a little stunned when Damian spoke, ignoring Bruce's warning, Damian continued, he crossed his arms and continued.
"If it was to protect us, why didn't she give both you and me to that woman? If they really loved us, they should have told the truth instead of hiding and covering it up with lies."
"You...call my mother a liar?" Danny was a little surprised by Damian's words, he stood up angrily.
"Damian! Stop-" Bruce stepped forward to stop Damian from continuing but he was faster.
"What if it's true? She's not even your mother, she's just the one who raised you in place of our blood mother!" Damian stood up, full of disgust, he thought Danny had been fed too many lies that he forgot their coldness and selfish.
Danny clenched his fists in anger "Don't drag my mother into this! They have no choice just like us!"
"Choice? They always have a choice but they don't choose!" Damian shouted, suddenly Danny rushed up and pushed Damian to the floor, surprising Bruce.
"WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MOTHERS! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE THEM LIKE THAT!" Danny's eyes were red by tears, he gritted out each word in anger, then he quickly ran out of the mansion.
"Danny!" Bruce watched Danny run away, he hurriedly chased after him but his feet stopped because Damian was still sitting on the floor, stunned.
Suddenly he saw Dick running after Danny with Duke and Cass, he turned back to Damian. He knelt down beside him, placing his hand on his shoulder.
"I... Didn't mean to hurt him..." Damian watched Danny run away, he saw his brother's tears. He realized what he had done, he looked at Bruce and said in a daze.
Bruce sighed, pulling him into his arms "I don't blame you. Both you and Danny were hurt and the one at fault in this is life."
Even though Bruce said that, Damian's mind was still blank, all he had in his head was Danny's echo, his words made his emotions more chaotic and complicated than before.
In the end, who was responsible for the emotional damage to him and Danny?
Notes:
Actually I was going to choose Dick - Step - Duke as the Emotional Support team but I think Step is more suitable for the Consulting job, because she knows how to change people's minds, made everyone thing diffrent. So I think if Step is not in the Emotional Support team, Cass would be the most suitable after Step, but cause she can read body langue but also she use to be hurt too.
Dick is too obvious but Duke I was a bit hesitant but well he has a bright and understanding vibe so I put him in.
Chapter Text
While Bruce and the twins were talking, the Wayne brothers were hiding in a nearby corner, competing to hear the conversation or at least look at the twins.
"Tsk... You guys look so silly." Jason was the only one who didn't participate, he crossed his arms and clicked his tongue.
"Look who was hugging the twins a few minutes ago to comfort them." Tim turned around, teasing Jason while looking at the shirt with two undried tear stains, he covered his mouth and laughed.
Jason blushed and stomped his feet, saying "Hey! Someone needs to do something about emotionally attacked twins!" He tried to defend himself but only received teasing looks from the others.
Jason covered his face and said nothing more.
"Danny looks so cute." Step exclaimed softly but when she looked at Damian, she clicked her tongue slightly "If only Damian smiled like Danny."
"Step... Damian is cute too!" Dick nudged her lightly but Step rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, when he falls asleep after his night patrol."
Everyone immediately burst out laughing, Dick was about to argue but stopped because he knew they wouldn't listen no matter what he said. Cass covered her mouth and smiled, Step looked at her curiously, she leaned over.
"Did you discover something new?" She asked Cass.
"I just think Danny and Damian are so cute together." Cass said with a smile, Step suddenly pouted while Dick looked at her with sparkling eyes. Actually, Cass was thinking about Danny being here, she saw him as a little sun. Like Alfred said, someone needed to bring positive energy to the Wayne household and she believed that was Danny.
Jason laughed at that, making Cass turn around and look at him in confusion.
"No offense Cass, Danny is cute but Damian? Cute isn't the right word."
"Come on Jay Jay." Dick stroked his face and said, "Damian is the youngest, of course he fits the word cute."
Suddenly the soft talking turned into a loud scream, everyone immediately turned to look. Before they could understand what was going on, they saw Danny push Damian down and yell, then run away.
"Hurry up, after him!" Cass suddenly pushed Dick, urging him to chase Danny.
Dick didn't think about it and ran after Danny outside, Cass also dragged Duke to run after him. Leaving Jason, Step and Tim at the mansion. They ran after Danny onto the main road, before Danny could run to the other side, Dick's hand quickly grabbed his shirt and pulled him back. Both of them stumbled and fell to the ground, Danny gasped as he watched the van pass by.
"You dumbass!" The driver stuck his head out, turning back to curse.
Danny sat on the ground, his face wet with tears, he wiped his tears with his hand and looked at Dick. He shook his hand away and staggered to his feet.
"What do you want!" Danny said angrily.
"I... I just want to make sure you don't get hurt." Dick stood up, he looked at Danny bowing his head, his eyes red from crying.
"I'm fine! You don't need to care."
Danny tightened his shirt, he turned his face away but then a pair of slender hands hugged his face, a soft handkerchief gently wiped his face, wiping away his tears.
"You are not okay, Danny. You have emotionally attacked." Cass carefully wiped away Danny's tears, she said softly.
Shoulders hunched.
Biting lip.
Fingers kept rubbing.
Breathing erratically and quickly.
Cass read Danny's body language, she said softly "You'll hurt yourself if you keep feeling that way."
Danny pursed his lips, looking away. He didn't need their help, he knew what he needed and what to do. He just left this place and found a quiet place.
"You'll only get worse if you're alone." Cass said, surprising Danny. Suddenly Duke came forward, patting Danny's shoulder, he didn't say anything but just used actions. His hand pointed to a nearby fast food restaurant.
Danny's stomach also growled a little, he bit his lip, quietly letting Cass take his hand and lead him into the restaurant to sit. Dick ordered each of them a burger and a drink, Danny had an extra order of fries. They sat quietly at a table in the corner waiting for their food to be served.
"Why is you guys following me?" Danny finally spoke after a while, still not looking up at anyone.
"Why not? You need help, you and Damian." Dick said softly.
"I don't need anyone's help!" Danny angrily slammed the table but Dick was very calm. "Listen. I know Damian makes you angry but there's a reason for everything."
"Reason? Did you hear Damian say about mothers?" Danny crossed his arms, annoyed.
"Danny... the League of Assassins is a very bad and dark place. More than you know." Cass said softly, looking straight at Danny. "Your mother may not have said it all but it's not a good place."
"That's not why Damian said that." Danny said in annoyance, he didn't think that was a good excuse for Damian to say that.
As far as Danny knew, his mother, both of his mothers, had been in a bad place but that didn't mean they behaved badly. His mother, Madie, had replaced his biological mother, taking care of him with all their hearts. And his biological mother...Talia...
"They never wanted to. They never had a better choice..." Danny said in a low voice, he raised his head, strong and determined to affirm "Talia al Ghul is my mother. And Maddiel Fenton too. They are both my mothers."
Dick was a little surprised by Danny, the way he strongly defended Talia, the mother he had never met, made him moved. He smiled.
"Yes, they are both your mothers. But Damian is your twin, your family too."
Danny opened his mouth slightly, he looked at Dick.
"Family is family. Blood or not." Duke continued.
"Family, no one is left behind. Whether it's you or Damian, or even your mother and Damian." Dick said.
Danny's eyes were burning, tears falling down, wetting his pants. He couldn't control his tears but he didn't want to control them either.
Ring...ring...
The phone suddenly rang, Danny startled and pulled out his phone. He was surprised to find that he had 12 missed calls and probably a hundred text messages.
"Damn! I forgot to call Sam!" Danny exclaimed, rushing to answer.
"Danny! Oh my god, you finally picked up the phone!" Tucker's voice was full of worry, Danny looked back at the phone, mumbling a reply.
"Uh...uh...Isn't this Sam's number?"
"Dude, you didn't pick up the phone and Sam and Jazz almost freaked out." Tucker said helplessly, while the other end was filled with a flurry of questions from Sam and Jazz.
Danny was embarrassed and didn't know what to say.
"Um... Sorry. It's personal." He looked up at Dick, Cass and Duke "Um... I'm hanging up."
"Oh no! If you dare hang up, I'll break your neck, Daniel Tailor Fenton!" Sam snatched the phone from Tucker's hand and shouted.
Her voice was so loud that Dick, Cass and Duke were surprised, they raised their eyebrows at Danny who was blushing and quickly turned down the volume.
"Sam... I'm really, really uncomfortable right now." Danny begged her.
"No... Wait, did you... just cry?" Sam was determined not to hang up, suddenly she heard Danny's voice break a little, sensitively detecting that he might have just cried.
Danny's cheeks turned red, he quietly hung up the phone, not daring to look up at the other three.
"You have a girlfriend?"
"Your middle name is Tailor?"
Dick and Duke almost shouted, only Cass remained silent. She sighed and reached out to push both of her brothers away.
"Are they your friends? They seem to be very worried about you." she said softly.
Danny rubbed his neck shyly, slowly nodding.
"Yeah. I promised them I would call them every seven o'clock, it seems like you completely ignored the time today." He said with a slight smile on his lips, Cass noticed that.
"You seem very comfortable with them. Especially with that girl named Sam." She continued, even glaring at Dick and Duke who were about to speak, forcing them to be silent.
Danny's cheeks turned pink, he smiled shyly. Although Danny didn't say it, Cass could see Danny's feelings, she covered her mouth and smiled.
"Strange feelings, huh?" Hearing Cass say that, Danny laughed and nodded.
The food was brought over, Danny smelled it and wanted to eat it all. He had so many feelings that he forgot that he was very, very hungry. Danny took a bite of the hamburger, his eyes lit up, then he lowered his head to eat, very quickly the hamburger was gone.
"Wow...Danny really eats a lot." Duke exclaimed softly.
"Luckily you ordered a lot." Dick also whispered back to Duke.
After a while, Danny finally felt full, he sat satisfied, his hand gently patted his stomach. Only then did he gather Dick, Duke and Cass.
"So... Um..." Danny didn't know what to say when Dick spoke up.
"How long are you staying here?"
"Um... About a week. Why?" Danny wondered.
"Do you want to meet your biological mother?" Dick suddenly made a suggestion that shocked Danny to the point of almost stopping his breath, even Cass and Duke didn't expect it.
They stared at Dick, who was seriously waiting for Danny's answer. Danny's mouth twitched, he was completely at a loss for words.
"Just think about it. No need to be nervous." Danny nodded stiffly, his mind blank.
After taking Danny back to the hotel he was staying at, Cass immediately punched Dick hard on the shoulder. she shouted
"What the hell, Dick! Meet Talia?"
"That's the craziest idea you've ever come up with, Dick." Even Duke shouted in disbelief.
Dick held his shoulder, looked at Cass who was angry and Duke who was showing a face of disbelief.
"It was the only way to keep Danny!" He said helplessly, at that moment Dick could only think of how to make Danny stay longer.
And the only way he could think of was Talia.
"Oh my god... You're crazy, Dick!" Jason yelled, Tim could hardly believe his ears, he grabbed Dick by the collar, shouting "Are you crazy!"
The trio returned home, and Duke told the whole story including the crazy excuse Dick thought of to keep Danny longer to the others.
Jason was the one who reacted the most, then Tim and Step, Bruce was almost unresponsive. Luckily Damian was taken away by Alfred before Duke could tell.
"Timmy... You're killing me!" Dick was shaking until he was dizzy, he groaned.
"It's better do it!" Tim was pulled away by Duke, holding him back, he loudly said "That's the idea... Oh my god, do you have a brain?"
"Meet Talia? You know what that woman is like! Danny meeting her..." Jason said angrily but then he was silent and didn't say anything else but sigh.
"Dick... You're the stupidest jerk I've ever lived with!" Step stepped forward and put her hand on Dick's shoulder, she said sarcastically.
Being told that by so many people, Dick went from hope to despair. He rubbed his neck and sighed.
"So does anyone have a way to keep Danny after today?" Dick said, crossing his arms, he raised his eyebrows when the others were silent "Come on. Anyone?"
"Okay, stop now." Bruce spoke now, he rubbed his forehead and sighed "Dick's idea is bad but not wrong. Danny has come a long way to get here, I don't want him to come back."
"So...?" Jason raised his eyebrows and said, he had a very bad feeling.
"So... We'll let Danny meet Talia." Bruce sighed.
Jason covered his face "I knew it..."
Whether he wanted it or not, Bruce didn't want Danny to leave, the boy had come here on his own, just like Damian, alone and without anyone else. Bruce was seeing Danny lost, the boy gave him a feeling that he was trying to find his way back to where he belonged. He hated seeing him struggle, Bruce hated seeing another one of his children lost.
"Talia..."
That night Bruce appeared as Batman, he met Talia on the roof of the city museum. He appeared behind her, carefully observing the surroundings."Don't worry. I'll go alone." Talia turned to look at Batman, she took off her mask, holding his urgent letter to her.
"Hm... I still need to be careful with you." Bruce also took off his mask, speaking coldly. Talia sneered, as if mocking him.
"Same as ever." Talia crossed her arms and said, "So what do you want? I've stopped all activities under my father, what else is there for you to worry about?"
"Damian..." Bruce hesitated, he looked at Talia's cold expression, a hint of motherly softness flashed through it.
He took a breath, clenched his fists, and then...
"This is...Danal...What? How?" Talia carefully watched Bruce approach, he handed her a photo. Talia's eyes almost couldn't believe what she saw, her hands trembled as she took the photo, her voice broke.
The person in the photo looked like Damiam at first glance, but Talia was a mother, how could she not know what her son was like. She recognized those eyes, and she trembled, unable to hold back her tears. That was her other son, the son she had suffered the pain of for so many years, her son, her little Danal.
"Oh my God..He look like you... Ha..." Talia could barely say anything else, her fingers caressing the photo of Danny as if it were priceless.
"There's still a bit of you... He went to the mansion, alone." Bruce said softly.
Talia held the photo, squeezing it tightly when she heard Bruce speak, she raised her head in fear. This was something Bruce had not expected, she grabbed his shoulder, and asked urgently.
"Alone? Is he okay? Why is he alone? Did you see him get hurt? Was anyone following him?" Talia's face was filled with worry, not just worry but also fear.
"Ah... No..." Bruce was overwhelmed, he slowly said "There's no one and he is fine. At least until Damian and him have a conflict."
"Conflict?" Talia was surprised, she slowly withdrew her hand "For what?"
"For you and for... The woman you gave Danny to." Bruce tilted his head slightly and said.
Talia's throat felt like it was choking. Damian and Danal shouldn't have had a conflict, they both should have...
"Oh no... What did I do! I..." Talia exclaimed in a daze, she looked up at Bruce "Danal... Is he okay?"
Bruce pursed his lips slightly, hesitating to say it. But for the best of the twins, he still said it. As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Talia swaying as if she was about to collapse.
"This isn't... This isn't right... This isn't what I wanted. They can't... fight..." Talia sat on the ground, unconsciously muttering under her breath "This is... Wrong."
"Talia... Danny wants to see you." Bruce helped Talia up, he spoke carefully but Talia's reaction was stronger than he thought.
She pushed him away and shouted "No!"
"I can't see Danal. I made a mistake! He'll be disappointed in me." She took a step back and hurriedly left, Bruce chased after her but she soon disappeared into the night.
