Chapter 1: Oh i hope you don't, mind if I come round?
Chapter Text
Boyfriend woke up the same way every morning. Which was to his wonderful Chatot screeching his head off in the next room over.
He blinked the sleep from his eyes as he got up with a yawn, sitting up in his bed as he looked over at his bedside clock, 7am, right on time like always. Some days he wished he could sleep in more, but he knew that Tone would probably find a way out of his cage to screech in his ear if he was late with breakfast.
His room was an organized yet chaotic mess, clothes were all bunched together in a corner of the room, an old sweater draped over the chair at his desk where a mess of paper, pencils, and his music mixing supplies took up residence. Dispite the chaos if his room, he knew by heart where everything and anything was.
He walked out of his room and make his way to the next door over where the sounds of a very fussy Chatot sounded out from. Opening the door, he was greeted by a much nicer chirp from the bird who was just screeching his head off a moment earlier. The room had two bird cages, one significantly larger than the other. Boyfriend walked over to the smaller cage first, taking off the blanket that was draped over it to reveal Tone, who was already climbing on the mesh walls of the cage. As soon as he opened it up, the Chatot scurried right up his arm and climbed onto his hatless head, feathers fluffing up as he nestled himself into his trainer's blue hair. Boyfriend simply smiled a sigh before moving to the larger cage and doing the same, his Oricorio, Rio, simply walking out and following Boyfriend into the kitchen, talons tapping on the floor.
It was a simple apartment, a conected livingroom and kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, and an extra room which he turned into a room for his Pokémon. Boyfriend raised his hand up to his head, letting Tone step onto it and setting him down on the counter. Upon stepping down Tone instantly started hopping and tapping around, clearly exited for food as Rio simply climbed onto a large perch next to the couch.
Boyfriend prepared their food and passes it out, some usual bird Pokémon feed with some berry chunks, and he prepared himself a simple pb&j, still in his pajamas. Well, it was more of just a baggy t-shirt and pants. He settled himself into the couch to eat when his phone buzzed, it was a Message from Girlfriend.
❤️GF❤️: Hey, you up?
💙BF💙: Ye, ws up
❤️GF❤️: Can I come over? I need to tell you something
💙BF💙: kk
---
He decided to get dressed in his usual outfit as he waited, a black long sleeve shirt with his favorite white tee-shirt with the prohibited sign on top, along with some light blue jeans and his cap. He really had nothing to do but wait for Girlfriend's arrival, meaning he had to wait for who knows how long to hear what was so important to tell him in person.
Tone and Rio seemed to have picked up on his nerves, as the usual squawks and screeches were replaced with quiet clicks and chirps. Tone had nestled into his neck from where he sat on BF's shoulder, whilst Rio had returned to her perch next to the couch, her red and black feathers catching in the stream of sunlight coming from the open curtains.
After what felt like an hour, but was really just twenty minutes, a knock sounded on his apartment door. Rushing over, startling Tone awake in the process, he opened the door up to see Girlfriend. She had on a nice wide-brimmed sunhat on, along with a long red dress. She smiled as she saw him, bringing Boyfriend into a hug, her long demon tail curling around him as well as the small horns in her head slightly digging into his face, but he didn't mind.
Boyfriend leaned back, holding Girlfriend's shoulders with a smile. "Hey, how have you been?" She smiled back warmly, "good, thanks."
The two headed into the livingroom and settled on his couch. He draped an arm around Girlfriend's shoulders, the latter leaning into his touch. Her Carbink, Crystal, was chiming a hello to Tone and Rio from their spot in Girlfriend's purse.
"So, what's this about you needing to tell me something?" She looked downwards, her smile faltering. "Well... my dad found out. About you."
Boyfriend blinked in surprise. "Wait, how?!" Girlfriend leaned more into his embrace, deflating with a sigh. "He heard me talking to you on the phone yesterday. He's mad, but that's not the worst part. He wants to meet you."
Boyfriend pulled her in closer, "oh come on! I'm sure it won't be that bad!" He flashed her a cocky smile. "This is a good thing! If he meets me, surely we won't have to hide us dating anymore!"
Girlfriend look up at him with a stern face. "It's not that simple, everyone I've dated that he's met has disappeared," her face took on a somber look as she gazed down to the floor, "you're the best guy I've dated, I don't want to lose you. Lose this."
Boyfriend wrapped both arms around her in a crushing hug, rubbing her back in soothing circles. "Don't worry! It'll be fine! I'll make the best impression on him ever!"
Surely, meeting her dad won't be that bad, right?

Chapter Text
Car engines roared to and fro as the couple walked along the sidewalk, making their way to the Dearest Theater. The sun was high in the early afternoon sky, making everything bright and searing unsuspecting eyes.
The two walked hand in hand, past lampposts and small window shops, displaying everything from coffee and doughnuts to antiques and furniture. The Dearest Theater loomed ahead of them, a grand building, with walls that showed not even a single spot of peeling paint or a crack, making the old building seem like it had only just been built.
"What time is it?" Boyfriend beeped, he said that it was nothing, but his nerves where getting to him as he reverted to beeping insted of talking. "Uhhh... about half past one." Girlfriend muttered, checking her watch as Crystal watched the passing cars from her purse, watching the shiny metal pass by with wonder.
The two walked into the theater into the lobby, it was a big open space, made to accommodate for big crowds and lineups. Girlfriend pulled him by the hand in the direction of the main stage, "knowing dad, he'll probably want to use the main stage insted of one of the smaller ones."
Entering in was like walking into another world. Row upon row of seats lined the floor, enough of them to rival a baseball stadium. And the stage was framed with crimson curtains with a golden trim, matching the walls. Balcony seats lined the walls with the house seat sat perfectly in the middle of the back wall, giving whoever sat there the best seat in the theater.
Looking at the stage, a large speaker set was already set up in the middle, which Girlfriend practically dragged him towards, "Come on, we need to get in some practice before dad comes." She hurried him onto the stage with her. As they got to the speakers she let go of his hand and turned towards him with her hands on her hips.
"Alright, my dad will likely challenge you to a battle, and he has his own way of doing them, so we need you to get in some practice so you have at least a chance of impressing him." Her face was stern as she looked him dead in the eyes.
"Alright then, show me the ropes." Boyfriend smiled, grabbing Tone's pokéball on his belt. Girlfriend settled herself on top the biggest speaker and hooked her phone up to it, "well, dad doesn't do normal battles, he does Pokémon rap battles." The giggled at his confused expression, "it's just a normal Pokémon battle, but you rap battle while you fight."
Okay, he understood now why she wanted to get some practice in.
He gave her a thumbs up, and she started the music. The song was simple, just a metronome of a beat, she sent out Rosie as Crystal watched on from Girlfriend's lap. Boyfriend sent out Tone and Rio as he nodded to the beat, finding his rhythm as he grabbed his microphone from its designated pocket in his jacket.
They stared simple, calling out commands on beat, they both made sure that the Pokémon knew to use weak versions of their moves, as this was just practice. His Pokémon where naturals, Tone made little chirps to the beat while Rio, in her baile style, swayed and danced to the simple music. He let out a laugh as they practiced, this was fun.
A chime rang throughout the theater, the clock striking two. They looked at eatchother before calling their Pokémon back to their side, anticipation heavy in the air.
Soon, after about five minutes of suffocating silence, the backstage doors opened and in came three figures, all of them had red skin and sunglasses covering their eyes along with black suits, they also had small horns on their head. Boyfriend turned his head to Girlfriend, "uh, you sure this is the right place?" Girlfriend simply looked at him, "yup, these are my parents henchmen."
The one in the middle spoke up first, its voice sounding like nails on a chalkboard, or like they have had a cold for the past month, "the boss is busy, so he sent us to test ya," Boyfriend, confused but glad he didn't have to face her dad just yet, nodded along. "Okay... yeah sure, let's do this!" He struck a pose, ponting at Girlfriend, "HIT IT!"
As the first song started, another simple, but slightly more complex beat, he sent out Tone as the three henchmen sent out their Pokémon, two Impidimp and a Misdreavus. "Really? Three against one? How's that fair!" He stuck his arms out forward as he beeped. The henchmen looked at eathother, not understanding what he just said. Girlfriend sighed, "that's probably how dad's testing you."
And so, the battle began, Tone flew around, dodging Play Roughs and Psybeams while landing Chatters and Heat Waves. During the battle though, as he rapped against the henchmen, Boyfriend couldn't help but feel like he was being watched. Risking a second to look in the direction of the feeling, he spotted a shadowy figure within the house seat, peircing red eyes met his blue for a second before Boyfriend focused back on the battle. He was, in fact, able to make it it seems.
After only one Roost, and another Chatter, the last of the henchmen's Pokémon went down, leaving Boyfriend victorious. Upon realizing he won, he jumped with a cheer, arms in the air, before the feathery missile that was Tone barreled into his chest, squaking in delight at the win. The henchmen slid back through the backstage door as Girlfriend climbed off the speakers to congratulate him with a hug.
He glanced over at the house seat once again, catching the figure walk away. Girlfriend grabbed his shoulders, making him look at her. "You did it! Come on, we gotta go celebrate!" She beamed as she grabbed his hand, leading him off the stage and out into the lobby.
Surely, that was the end of things, her dad was the only thing he had to worry about. Right?

Chapter Text
"...is this a haunted house? In the middle of November?" "Yup!"
Girlfriend smiled at Boyfriend as they walked down a dirt path towards a very old looking mansion. The walls where covered in peeling white paint and many shingles where missing from the roof, The stairs up to the porch of the house looked like they would break the minute they stepped on them. "You sure about this?" Boyfriend asked, "this place doesn't look stable at all."
"Oh its fine!" Girlfriend playfully flicked her wrist at him, "when I used to babysit to earn some money, a pair of kids who loved Halloween would always beg to come here." Even Tone was unsure of the place, as Boyfriend could feel his feathers ruffle up on his shoulder.
"If you say so..." Boyfriend murmured as they walked up the steps of the porch, eatch step making the wood creak. At the entrance, nobody was there, just a sign saying "Free Entry!"
"Shouldn't there be someone here?" "Oh no, just during October when a lot of people are here, hardly anyone comes at another time so they just don't bother." Girlfriend grabbed his hand and practically dragged him through the doorway into the haunted house.
It was surprisingly dark inside dispite it being day, arrows on the floor guided them throughout the mansion and it seemed like there was something at every turn.
First it was a mirror suddenly shattering, making Boyfriend jump with a beep as Girlfriend giggled. Actors and Ghost-type Pokémon jumped out at them constantly, some where expected scares, others made him think his heart would just stop.
Eventually, after a good scare from a Dusknoir, they made it to a room with some light coming from the windows, bathing the room in a soft blue light as the couple took a moment to catch their breath.
"Man, this place is unsettling," Boyfriend said as he raised a hand to Tone for him to perch on, patting the Chatot's head. "Yeah, this is the best place that's open all year round." Girlfriend walked over to some paintings to look at them, Boyfriend trailing closely behind. "Certainly is pretty good, it's scary... it's-"
"IT'S A SPOOKY!"
The couple jumped as two voices suddenly popped up behind them. Boyfriend quickly scooted behind Girlfriend as Tone frantically shuffled his way under his hat. Girlfriend let out a gasp when she saw who it was, "Oh! Skid! Pump! I didn't know you two where here!"
Looking out from behind her, he saw two kids and their Pokémon. The first one was in a skeleton costume with a Greavard, the other kid was wearing a pumpkin costume with a small Pumpkaboo on his head. Girlfriend, who noticed him hiding behind her, laughed. "Oh its fine babe, remember the kids I mentioned when I said I used to babysit? Well, meet Skid and Pump!"
The two kids stared at him with big eyes as Tone poked his head out from under his hat.
"HI mister!" The one in the skeleton costume, Skid, greeted, while Pump just waved hello. "Cool Pokémon! Does he have a name? Mine's named Spook!" Before he could answer, the kid turned to Girlfriend, "oh yeah! Some weird guy came up to us, saying that we should find you and bring you to him because you are made of candy, but that's silly, we know you aren't made of candy."
Both Boyfriend and Girlfriend stiffened. "Okay... uh... Skid, where is your mom? You didn't come by yourselves, right?" This time Pump answered, his Pumpkaboo having moved from his head to his arms, "Yeah, we came here with Ms. Lila, she's back there," he said, pointing to where they came from.
Girlfriend leaned down to the kids level, "Alright, how about we get you guys back to Ms. Lila, alright?" She was met with a simultaneous "Okay!" As Both the kids and Boyfriend trailed behind her.
Eventually, they found her. She was a nice lady with long purple hair, flanked by an Audino, who spotted them first and gently tugged on the woman's sleeve to get her attention.
"Oh, there you boys are! You had me worried." She kneeled down to check them over before turning to Girlfriend. "It's nice to see you again, thank you for finding them," she brushed her off, "it's alright, just keep an eye on them, alright?"
The couple continued on through the mansion, at some point Tone had fully come out of hiding and perched atop Boyfriend's head, "we go home?" Tone chirped. Boyfriend nodded, "yeah, let's go home."
As they left, what the kids said came back to mind, and something told them that things where going to go a lot differently then what they thought would happen.

"...who's this?"
"I have another job for you."
"Oh, it's you. Not even a hello? Damn. Anyways, what day?"
"Tomorrow."
"Sorry pops, but I already got something scheduled for tomorrow, not a good idea to do two jobs in one day."
"Do you want to be fired?"
"Bitch, I'm the best guy you have, you can't fire me."
"I can cut your pay."
"... dang, okay fine, what's the deets?"
Notes:
I wonder who that was 👀
Also I commissioned a friend to draw some of the designs for the AU which I shall share as soon as I learn how to put in images
Chapter 4: An Unexpected Reunion (week 3)

What could go wrong?

My love for Pico ended up making this chapter an absolute monster compared to the other chapters, anyways this is the longest chapter so far, being double the length of the old longest chapter. Hope you guys enjoy :]
Fun fact: Schizophrenia is a lot more than just hallucinations and delusions, those are just some of the symptoms, others include loss of motivation, disorganized speech and thoughts, paranoia, and more
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Boyfriend had gotten an anonymous text early that morning, a challenge from Girlfriend's dad. He was to meet with him on the rooftop of a building that evening, alone.
Which was why he was walking the streets in the dark with only the GPS on his phone to guide him. But at least he had his Pokémon on him.
The dark streets where bathed in various neon colours from the glowing signs of stores and even some windows if the apartment complexes. It would have been a nice walk at night, if it wasn't for the fact that his stomach felt like it was curling into itself with nerves. Would he actually be there? Is he already there, waiting for him? Thoughts plagued him as he walked on through the streets.
---
Warm blood was splattered across his face as he quickly jumped into the back of the black van, running up and slamming his hand down on the headrest of the driver's seat. "Fucking DRIVE DARNELL!"
as Darnell kicked the van into high gear, speeding away from the scene amd lurching everything inside forwards, Pico dropped down onto the floor, next to Blaze, the sleeping Charizard's tail providing a light source as he checked himself over for injuries. As he was checking his legs for any bullet grazes he didn't feel, Nene, who was sitting on some boxes, looked up from her laptop. "So, you booked two jobs for today. Seriously?" Pico looked up at her after checking his arms, "it was the big boss, can't turn him down. Wish I did though."
Nene raised an eyebrow, urging him to elaborate. "When I asked for a photo, so I know who I gotta shoot, all he said was 'the less I see of that idiot, the better.' Like, all he gave me what where the targets gonna be and nothing else!" Pico crossed his arms, frustration written all across his face, "I hope this will just be done and over in a single bullet."
---
Why did there have to be so many stairs?
Boyfriend was breathing heavily by the time he made it to the rooftop, an he had to admit, it was a stunning sight.
The inky black sky was clear, a rare occurrence for November, and the moon and stars where out in the sky, and he was pretty sure he could spot some constellations. Tall buildings made up the horizon and the scenery around him, the lights from the windows creating an isolated feeling.
Two things surprised him though. One, there was already a set of speakers set up, and two, Girlfriend's dad was nowhere to be seen. Thought he would be here by now.
---
Blood pounded in his ears as they pulled up at the building, from the leftover adrenaline from the previous hit, or from the thrill of the hunt, Pico didn't know. He tapped one of Blaze's horns, waking up the Charizard, "c'mon girl, need to get up there."
Waving his goodbye as the other two gave their "cya!" And "good luck man," he jumped on Blaze's back and the two lifted into the air. Guiding her, Pico aimed for the rooftop next to where the target would be, a bold and kind of idiotic move, but he didn't care. They came up on the side facing away from the target location, staying close to the wall.
Upon landing behind the penthouse, he gave the Charizard a left-over oran berry he had in his pocket and waved her off. "Alright, go time buddy."
He grabbed a great ball from his belt, calling upon the Pokémon within. Azule emerged with a flash of white, quickly taking in his surroundings before the Clawitzer scuttled up Pico to rest on his shoulder. "Quick and easy, that's the goal."
He crouched down and made his way to the parapet. Before he looked over the edge, he unhooked his Uzis from the holsters on his thighs, giving them a once-over to check that he was ready as he heard a hiss of pressurized gas come from Azule, getting his own weapon ready.
With a nod, he looked over the edge.
And he really wished he didn't. He really wished he had never taken this job.
---
Not being able to handle the silence, and being alone, Boyfriend had called out Tone and Rio. Anticipating the upcoming battle, he decided to get some practice in beforehand with them.
Whilst doing some work on Tone's movement being grounded, he heard a sudden angry squak from Rio. Curious as to what she saw, he turned around to her and then followed her gaze up towards the neighboring building, that was taller than the one he was on.
Black eyes met white, and the world seemed to stop.
A smile spread our across Boyfriend's face as he called out, "Pico!" He waved towards the ginger as a plethora of emotions danced across the others face before he gave a sigh. Pico stood up, and with surprising agility, jumped on over to the edge of the rooftop Boyfriend was standing on.
Pico looked so diffrent from when he last saw him, he still wore that green sweater and that pair of cargo pants, but now, he had scars all over his skin, some even criss-crossing across his freckles, and he was wearing a white military vest and a pair of white shades, making him look like those people who where in Pico's family photos. But he had dried red specks on his face, which made his heart drop for a moment.
"Pico! Dude! It's been so long-" "DON'T start with me," Pico growled. Boyfriend was taken aback from the sudden hostility, sure Pico was kinda aggressive back when he knew him, but this was clearly different. "Listen here you piece of shit," Pico spun around one of his guns on his finger, as the Clawitzer on his shoulder, last he saw it, it was still a Clauncher, rose it's cannon arm, "your new girl's dad's got money, and he wants your head, you get what I'm saying?"
It took him a second to register Pico's words, but when he realized what this ment, he gasped, his voice coming out as quiet beeps as anxiety began to grip him, "Pico, your a hitman?" "No shit Sherlock. What, the guns didn't clue you in?" Pico turned his head to the side as he said that, a little quirk that he still seemed to have.
"Wait, I'm sure there's a way we can settle this, yeah?" Pico went silent for a moment, still twirling his gun as he thought for a moment. "Fine. We battle, here and now. You win, I let you go. You lose, and I get to spill your guts all over this rooftop." Boyfriend thought for a moment, before shakily nodding his head.
He sent out Tone first as he recalled Rio to his side, and Pico simply put his one arm out and let Azule jump to the ground. The trainers and their Pokémon stared eatchother down, waiting to see who would strike first.
"Tone! Boomburst!" "Ice beam."
Boyfriend's eyes widened as both moves connected, Azule skidded across the concrete as the ice Beam hit Tone squarely in the wing, causing the Chatot to fall out of the air as ice formed around the feathers, grounding him. He clenched his fists at his side as Pico continued to spin his gun. "Let's get this over with, Ice beam again."
Azule began to quickly charge the ice type move as Boyfriend called for Tone to get out of the way, but it was too late as Tone was hit again, fainting him.
With a sigh, he recalled the Chatot and signals for Rio. Thankfully, Rio was in her pom-pom form, so he had the advantage now, and Azule was already hurt from the earlier boomburst. "Alright, revelation dance!"
With a step and a twirl, the move connected harshly, fueled by Rio's anger towards Pico, which he still didn't understand, and after staggering, Azule fell.
Pico stopped spinning his gun, "hoped that this would have been quick, but beggars can't be choosers." He reached for a banged up Pokéball on his belt, and Boyfriend only had a second to realize what Pokémon was left.
In a flash of white, he saw a Pokémon he never thought he would see again. Iron plating shined in the dim moonlight, a blue bandana wrapped tightly around her neck, with a small round megastone adorning the knot.
Aggy had evolved since he last saw her, but she still had that protective stance she always had. Last time he saw her was...
Was...
Golden sunlight filled the park as four figures faced eatchother.
Boyfriend stood there, expression full of confusion and hurt as Rio faced down her opponent.
She was facing a small Aron, Aggy, a torn blue bandana around her neck as he did her best to look intimidating, and behind her commanding her was...
"Listen... I'm sorry..."
The words came out as a sob from Pico's throat, he was leaning heavily on a pair of crutches, as he was only recently released from the hospital. His green sweater was patched up in multiple spots, but Boyfriend could see the bandages peeking out from under, and the side of Pico's head was covered in bandages.
"But... why?" Boyfriend asked, and Pico's head went down, "I just... it won't be good for ether of us..."
Tears welled up in Boyfriend's eyes, "but, we can still be together when I move. We can call, we can meet up on weekends, we-" "you don't get it!" Pico yelled, causing Boyfriend to flinch.
"I... after everything's that's happened, everything going on... I... I just don't think it would be good for you to stay with me..."
"Aggy, head smash."
Boyfriend was brought back to the present as Aggy slammed into Rio with her head, sending the Oricorio flying across the rooftop. He shook his head and brought himself back into the moment. "Rio! Calm mind!"
Rio shook herself off and closed her eyes, but opened them in time to dodge the second head smash that flew towards her at surprising speeds. "Alright, revelation dance, again!" Rio danced in the air, sending a burst of electric energy at the Aggron, hitting hard.
Aggy simply grunted in responce, and with a single look to Pico, she sped forward with yet another head smash, not a single word coming from Pico.
The two Pokémon continued to trade blows, dodging and fighting, until with one more move from Rio, Aggy staggered, and then fell to the ground.
Taking a second to register what had just happened, Boyfriend jumped up into the air with a cheer, "yes! Good job Rio!" The Oricorio ran over to him and he smothered her in pets. Pico had recalled Aggy with a sigh, "well, you're off the hook, now go on, go hug your girlfriend or something," Pico moved to sit on the parapet, his legs hanging off the building, as he grabbed a box of cigarettes and a lighter from a pocket in his vest.
As Pico was flicking the lighter, attempting to light the cigarette already in his mouth, Boyfriend quietly took a seat next to him. As he sat there, he noticed more about how he looked different, and yet the same. He was still covered in freckles but they where now accompanied by scars and dried blood, his hair was still clearly curly, but it was hidden behind what seemed to be hair spray or gel, and he noticed that a patch of hair on the right side of his head was thinner than the rest, and with what seemed to be some scar tissue underneath. The ginger caught his eye as he finaly lit his cigarette, "what, still got a staring problem?"
He quickly looked away as Pico put his lighter away, and after looking around in his pockets, Pico grabbed out three revives and passed one to him, "here, good fight." Boyfriend wordlessly took it as Pico opened up Aggy's Pokéball and crushed one of the two revives in his hand, sprinkling the powder into it and giving it a second before he called Aggy back out.
The Aggron looked around for a moment before settling down and resting her head beside Pico, who placed a hand on her head.
It took a moment for Boyfriend to work up the courage to ask what he was about to ask, "Hey... Pico... could I get your number," Pico gave him a weird look, which caused him to panic, "not in that way! So we can text eatchother, I wanna get to know you again, as friends, it's been years."
Pico sighed, something he seemed to do a lot as he wiped at his face, failing to clean away the now dried blood, "why the fuck would I do that?"
Boyfriend simply grabbed his phone and held it out with it in the add contact screen, and after a few heartbeats, Pico snatched it out of his hand and typed in his number and handed it back. "Don't expect me to answer quickly, alright?"
Boyfriend nodded, and the two sat in silence for what seemed like hours, as Rio gave Aggy a pretty nasty side-eye, which the Aggron simply huffed at, not giving a care in the world.
Eventually, Pico got up with a stretch as he took one last drag from the cigarette before crushing it under his shoe, "I better get going, get home safe, yeah?"
The two parted ways, and as Boyfriend walked away from the building with a black van rushing past him, he had only just realized what had happened.
Did Girlfriend's dad really hire a hitman to kill me, who turned out to be my ex? Who I ended up getting back in contact with?
Yeah okay, he is seriously going to need a good sleep when he gets home.
Notes:
Originally the flashback scene was about: Pico had just recently been released from the hospital after the events of Pico's School and he confided in Boyfriend about his therapist saying that he has possible early signs of schizophrenia but BF decided to break up with him due to it and called him a crazy schizo
Yeah after some time I really disliked it so I changed it to what it is now.
Also both Boyfriend and Pico proceeded to sleep for like 12 hours straight
Chapter 5: Meet & Greet

Chapter Text
Sunlight filled the streets as Boyfriend and Girlfriend walked hand in hand towards the agreed meeting spot. Boyfriend had been texting Pico and he decided to suggest meeting up at a restaurant to chat and also so he could meet Girlfriend.
As they walked, Tone rested on Boyfriend hat, dozing away as Rio walked alongside the couple. Crystal was peeking out from Girlfriend's purse at Rosie, who seemed to be chatting about something to the Carbink.
The restaurant was one Pico suggested, he said he goes there often. It was a small Chinese restaurant that never really had many people inside as people would often do take-out insted. Walking up to the building they could already tell that there where likely nobody else there from the lack of cars in the parking lot.
Walking inside, the decor was stunning. The red walls had framed embroidery art of some flowers, there was a central pillar was also a light source, looking like a lantern, and on the ceiling was a round mirror with a Rayquaza curled around it.
The two where greeted by a waiter, "hello! Table for two?" Boyfriend shook his head, "no, we're meeting with someone here, they should be here by now." "ah alright, have a good day."
Spotting Pico, who was already in a booth, he called out a greeting and walked to the booth with Girlfriend not too far behind. "Hey man, nice seeing you again."
Pico looked up from what seemed like a cup of tea, he opened his mouth to say something but stiffened for a moment when he saw Girlfriend. He quickly recovered and gave a singe nod in greetings.
The two took a seat opposite of Pico as the ginger pushed two menus over, "here, I already know what I'm getting, been here enough." He stayed silent as the couple looked over their menus, and once they had chosen he struck up conversation.
"So, Girlfriend huh?" He started, "nice to meet you," Girlfriend nodded and held out her hand, "nice to meet you to Pico." Pico took her hand in a handshake, his hands rough and calloused compared to her softer hands.
The trio sat in awkward silence, with Rio glaring daggers at Pico, the waiter eventually returned to take their orders, with both Girlfriend and Boyfriend ordering the same thing, some fried rice with sweet and sour breaded chicken balls and some water as Pico ordered a Scovillain lo mein as well as a refill on his orange pekoe tea. They also ordered some food for their Pokémon, in which Girlfriend got curious.
"So, Pico, do you have any Pokémon?" The ginger nodded in responce, "yup, they just ain't with me. Well, I do have one with me, but just can't take her out of her ball." "How come?" Pico shrugged, "well, for one they don't let bigger Pokémon in here, like most restaurants, so can't take my Aggron out of her ball, and the Pokémon I can usually take here, my Clawitzer, shed his carapace recently, so he's hiding till it grows back."
The waiter returned with the food, a Scovillain by her side helping to carry the food and beverages. The trainers and their Pokémon dug in, and eventually conversation started back up.
Boyfriend was the one to ask a question this time, noticing some bandages around Pico's arm, "so, uh... what happened to your arm?" Pico glanced at his arm before answering, "was doing some target practice with Nene, she got a little too exited and accidentally sliced my arm." Boyfriend's eyes widened at the name as he audibly gasped, "holy shit, she's still alive?!"
Pico nodded once again, "yeah, so is Darnell," "dude, I though he said he had only five years left!" "He did, not anymore."
Girlfriend, not knowing any of the names being mentioned, gave a questioning look to Boyfriend, who quickly explained, "Pico and I where close back in middle school, we had a friend group with Nene and Darnell, haven't herd of them since I moved away." She nodded in understanding "Okay, also, what do you guys mean by five years left?"
Pico chuckled, a rare sound from him, "he was fighting lung cancer, ironic how he's a pyromantic. Doctors at the time said he had five years left, he used it to try and win the vote for class president. Luckily he was declared cancer free on the third year." "I see, did he win?"
Pico stiffened at the question, "it, uh, we never got the results," Girlfriend, not noticing the sudden tension in Pico's frame, questioned further, "what do you mean by that? Did something happen?"
Pico's knuckles turned white as he gripped his fork, and his voice came out strained and on the edge of a growl, a small amount of anger hidden in his voice, "I don't like talking about it, just drop the subject."
Girlfriend went silent from the hint of aggression and went back to her meal. Awkward silence once again surrounded them all as they ate. Pico was the first to speak up, the anger replaced with slight regret, "sorry. So uhm... you still do rapping Blue?" Boyfriend nodded, catching the old nickname, "yeah! I actually got two EPs out!" Pico's face lit up at that.
Conversation started to flow easily between them, and soon, the food was gone and everyone was ready to leave. Boyfriend offered to pay but Pico denied him, saying it was his idea to go to this spot so he'll pay.
Upon walking outside, Girlfriend turned to Pico, "Hey so, you mentioned having an Aggron on you, and since we're out of the restaurant, could I meet her?"
Pico was taken aback for a second, before shrugging, "sure, was planning on letting Aggy out so she could her stretch her legs on the way home." He grabbed the Pokéball from his belt and let Aggy out, who materialized next to him. Upon being released she instantly started checking Pico over and coddling him, ruffling his hair with her snout as Pico thew up his hands in defence, "hey! Easy! I'm fine girl."
Upon a through examination of her trainer, Aggy turned her attention to the new faces, lowering herself down so her head was leveled with Girlfriend's, who laughed and patted the Aggron's snout. Boyfriend also laughed at how much Aggy had changed, or how little, "dude, honestly expected that she'd turn into a mother hen."
Pico shot him a glare before Aggy, satisfied with the attention, lumbered back on over to the ginger's side. The three of them chatted as they made their way to the sidewalk, not hearing the quickly approaching vehicle
Before the three could even part ways, a limo came speeding down the street, and before they could react, Girlfriend and Boyfriend where suddenly gone, leaving a stunned Pico behind.
"Ether I forgot to take my meds, or those two knuckleheads got snatched by a limo. I ain't got time for this shit."
Aggy rumbled in agreement and followed him home.
Notes:
Huh, I wonder why Pico reacted like that to seeing Girlfriend for the first time, surely it's not because he knows another girl with long reddish hair, predominantly red clothing, and is also not human
Chapter 6: High-speed battle (week 4)
Summary:
Boyfriend and Girlfriend are swept up by a speeding vehicle, and Boyfriend finaly meets one of Girlfriend's parents
Notes:
...what do you mean that my silly little AU i had finally shared got 100 hits? Hello?
Anyways wow, lots of stuff happened since last update. Pokémon presents happened (Chikorita my beloved), I got a God pack on tcg pocket somehow, and my favorite fnf mod got an update. So yeah.
Fun fact: Mommy Mearest's look is a mix of her base game look and Lusamine. I do have another fun fact but that would spoil her Pokémon so I'll put it in the end notes
Enjoy :]

Chapter Text
Wind whipped around Boyfriend, making him hold onto his hat to prevent it from flying off his head. The wind was beating against his ears, drowning almost everything out with the sound of a drum. He tried to look around at his surroundings but all he saw was cars speeding by and the harsh light of the afternoon sun reflecting off the lake, he also realized that the thing he was on top of was a large limousine speeding down the road.
Panic filled him, not only from the fact he was on top of a moving car thats speeding over a long bridge over a lake, but also from the fact that he couldn't see Girlfriend, but a squeal and an annoyed protest drew his eyes over to where she was, getting hugged by a very tall woman who he could only assume from how she was hugging Girlfriend and the way Girlfriend angerly said "Mom!" that this was her mom, Mommy Mearest.
She was very tall, probably much taller than normal thanks to the black knee high heeled boots she wore. She also had on a short red dress with a black cardigan on top, along with fishnets on her arms and legs and an array of gold jewelry. Like Girlfriend, she had a pair of sharp looking horns and a tail, but both where much longer, and she had a pair of large demon wings behind her back. Her hair was the same auburn as Girlfriend's, but while Girlfriend's hair was poofy and very flowy, Mrs. Mearest's hair was sharp and straight, almost making a cone around her or a flowing waterfall.
"Oh there's my precious baby!" Mearest coddled as she hugged GF, the latter trying to push her away. "Mom, stop! Your suffocating me!"
Mearest finaly released her, but grabbed onto her shoulders to look at her, "where have you been! Your mother's been worries sick!" Girlfriend simply rolled her eyes at her, "I told you, I was going out to lunch with some people."
It was then, as Boyfriend finaly managed to stand up with Tone, who was hiding under his hat the whole time, peeking out from under his cap, that his and Mearest eyes met. "Oh," she said, her voice cold and void of emotion, "so this must be the boy you've been dating behind our backs, isn't he?" It was less of a question, and more of a statement. Boyfriend wanted to shrivel up under her stern gaze, but he steeled himself and took a deep, shaky breath. This was the first, and might be the only time, he could meet one of Girlfriend's parents face to face.
He did a curt, stiff bow, and met Mearest's eyes, "y-yes ma'am. The name's Boyfriend." He had to force himself to speak normally insted of beeping from how nervous he was.
Mearest simply stared at him for a moment, and he feared the worst. But before he could move or speak again she burst out laughing. "Oh my," she managed to get out between laughs, "I see why your dating him!"
She calmed down from her laughing fit, this time her face seeming somewhat cheerful insted of cold. "Atleast you seem to have manners, unlike some of my daughters other choices in men," that statement and the flash of coldness in her eyes made him shiver. "Now then, I'm sure you know why I picked you two up!" She claped her hands, and Girlfriend rolled her eyes for what felt like the hundredth time, "yeah yeah, you want to test him."
With a snap of Mearest's fingers, demon henchmen appeared, the last he saw them was when he fought them in the theater. Some henchmen set up a pair of speakers on a neighboring limousine, and one henchman handed Measrest a velvet box with two Pokéballs inside. Some henchmen helped Girlfriend over to the speakers so she could take her usual place on top of them.
The henchmen finaly cleared out, except for some on the neighboring limousine who seemed to be getting ready for something. Mearest turned to him, "I'm sure you already know what we're about to do, correct?" Boyfriend nodded as he grabbed out his microphone from its pocket in his jacket, and the music begun, signaling the start of the battle.
This time he decided to send out Rio first, the latter of which was in her sensu style, her feathers seemingly glowing a nice lavender in the light of the afternoon sun. Mrs. Mearest sent out a Furfrou, it's fur trimmed into pink hearts. The music was an upbeat track, reminding him of the older pop songs.
"Alright! Rio, steel wi-" "Sucker punch." He could hardly get the command out before the Furfrou charged at Rio full speed, landing a nasty super effective blow, causing Rio to stagger backwards. After quickly recovering from the blow Rio dashed in and managed to hit her steel wing, doing some nice damage.
"Okay, calm mind," he was glad to remember sucker punch only hit if the opponent was attacking, so he could use that to his advantage. Rio closed her eyes and focused, and as she did Mearest command the Furfrou again, her voice firm, clearly thinking that this would be an easy win, "Toxic."
The Furfrou sped forwards once again, but Rio had heard its approach and didn't need to be told to dodge as she quickly launched herself into the air and out of the way of the Furfrou's toxic, using the wind pushing off the limbo to glide.
He should switch her out, but then he would waste the calm mind buff. As he tried to think quickly he spotted that the henchmen on the other limbo where, in fact, dancing along to the music. Going along with the beat he called out for Rio to use air slash, as revelation dance would be able to hit the normal type.
The blade of air conected with the Furfrou, knocking it back and cutting some of its groomed fur, which clearly pissed off both Pokémon and trainer. He took the moment of the Furfrou being stunned to swap out Rio, Tone popping out of his cap and landing in the limbo, wings raised in an aggressive stance as he screeched.
The Furfrou shook out its fur, and with a command sped forward again to land a headbutt, but Tone was smarter than Boyfriend would give credit for. As soon as the Furfrou got close, right before the headbutt connected, Tone let out an ear-piercing chatter:
"FUCK."
The headbutt still landed, but so did the chatter, knocking out the Furfrou. Tone puffed up his feathers as Mearest simply smiled, "good, you've lasted longer than most already."
The music went to the second track as Mearest sent out her other Pokémon, a beautiful Gardevoir. Okay, this'll be fine. It's weak to ghost, and I've still got Rio, Boyfriend thought.
But of course, it was never easy for him, was it? Mearest tapped the crystal on her gold necklace, which Boyfriend realized with dread, was a key stone. The Gardevoir was enveloped with a bright light, and just as quickly as it happened, it dissipated, leaving a mega Gardevoir in its wake. As soon as the mega evolution was finished Mearest didn't even give him a second to process it when Tone was hit with a moonblast, nearly knocking him out.
Boyfriend panicked, how on earth was he going to defeat a mega when he didn't even have any mega Pokémon himself? He didn't even had a Z-ring or a dynamax band to even use to try and beat it! He's just got to hope that Tone can damage it enough before he faints for Rio to finish it.
"Okay, Tone! Roost then Heatwave!" Tone looked back at him and nodded, puffing up his feathers as he healed himself, loosing his flying type for a little, and he shot up in the air away from the focus blast that was fired at him. The heatwave landed but not before the mega Gardevoir fired another moonblast, both moves landing and Tone being knocked out.
He sent Rio back out as the third track started playing, being more a mix of rave music and old pop than just pop. He wasted no time in calling out his commands, knowing that every second counted. Rio landed her revelation dance, hitting the Gardevoir in ghost type energy as it launched a shadow ball, Rio attempted to dodge and managed to get by with it simply grazing her wing.
The two traded blows, revelation dances and steel wings met shadow balls, until they were both clearly on their last legs. It would all come down to who outspeeded.
Two commands rang out at once.
Time seemed to slow.
The steel wing conected, knocking the mega Gardevoir out.
Boyfriend stood there, stunned as the world came back to speed, the ringing in his ears turning into the cheering of Girlfriend from the speakers.
"Good fight boy, I guess I can let you date her," Mearest walked towards him and outstretched her hand, "I can't say the same for my husband though."
He took her hand and they shook hands, Mearest let them into the limousine as she got the driver, another demon henchman, to drive them back to where they where picked up. Mearest asked him questions about himself and he answered them.
Soon, the limousine parked outside the Chinese restaurant they where just at an hour ago, Mearest waving them off and leaving after giving Girlfriend yet another bone crushing hug.
He had finaly managed to get in the good graces of one of Girlfriend's parents. This only made him wonder how long it will be untill he would meet her dad for real.
Notes:
Your other fun fact: originally, Mearest had a milotic insted of a Furfrou, but when I was tossing ideas around with my brother he sudgested that she should have the heart cut Furfrou
Chapter 7: You Are So Dumb, Dancing With The Enemy (week 5)
Summary:
Girlfriend and Boyfriend are out Christmas shopping at a local mall.
What could go wrong?
Notes:
Title from Fighting With The Melody by Jimmy Urine
So that pitstop 2 update huh? It was so FUCKING GOOD
Anyways big news, this is the first chapter with a battle written accurately :D yeah, I used Pokémon showdown to simulate the battle in this one. Anyways enjoy this longest chapter yet at nearly 3k words. Also I'm rewriting some earlier chapters
Fun fact: the reason u can see ur breath when it's cold out is because when the moisture in your breath comes into contact with the cold air it turns into condensation and essentially turns into a form of fog
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The mall was packed with Christmas shoppers and their Pokémon, and everywhere you looked the mall was filled with green and red decorations. Stores had all sorts of sales going on for the holiday seasons as the same Chrismas songs played on repeat all throughout the building. Boyfriend and Girlfriend were here for the same thing as everyone else, Chrismas gifts. Currently they were on their way to their final stop, a beauty store that Girlfriend had said was pretty good, with her leading the way, Rosie by her side, and Boyfriend trailing behind carrying a few bags on his arms, Tone nestled under his hat with his head peeking out.
The store was big, and the majority of the things Boyfriend had hardly a clue as to what they were. Girlfriend zoned in on a display of lipstick, saying that she wanted to get some for her mom, leaving Boyfriend to find something for his sister abroad over in Sinnoh by himself. After some looking he found what seemed to be a nice looking palette of blue eyeshadow that seemed good. After ringing up their purchases and adding yet another bag to the collection growing on Boyfriend's arms they made their leave.
"So, is that all?" Girlfriend inquires him, and he nods. "Good! Let's get going then." She paused to think for a moment, "if I remember correctly, there's an exit this way-"
"There you are sweetie!"
The familiar voice startled Boyfriend with a beep, which startled Tone awake, as Girlfriend turned around. Behind them, standing next to a booth beside a large Chrismas tree, was Mommy Mearest, waving them over. But that wasn't why Boyfriend felt dread creeping up his spine.
Beside Mearest was a very tall, well dressed man who Boyfriend could only assume was Girlfriend's father, Daddy Dearest. Similar to Mearest, he had purple skin and piercing red eyes, but his tail had more of an arrow shape on the end than a heart, and his wings, dispite being folded at his back, seemed much larger and sharper, while Girlfriend and Mearest had short horns that pointed upwards, his curled around like a Dubwool's. He was in a clean back suit with a white dress shirt underneath, his hair was slicked back and on the suit was a rose blossom pinned on. The way Dearest looked at Boyfriend made his skin crawl.
"So, this is who you've been dating?" The way he said it sounded more like a statement then a question. Words caught in his throat and refused to come out, so all Boyfriend could do was nod. Dearest looked over to his wife, "are you sure this was the boy who managed to beat you? Looks pretty puny to me." Upon hearing that Tone let out a very offended squawk, nearly knocking Boyfriend's hat off when he stood up. Dearest simply smiled.
"Fine then, if you aren't weak, then I'm sure you won't deny a simple double rap battle." Boyfriend, never one to back down from a fight, puffed out his chest and nodded, Tone letting out another squawk in challenge. People cleared out, and the trainers took their places, Boyfriend and Girlfriend, stairing down Dearest and Mearest.
The music from a pair of speakers Boyfriend was surprised he hadn't noticed before began to play a fast song, reminiscence of classic Christmas songs, and the first Pokémon were sent out.
Tone was raring to go, so he was first alongside Crystal, who seemed nervous but ready. Mearest had sent out her Furfrou, looking like it was fresh from the groomer, and Dearst had sent out a large and intimidating Grimmsnarl, it towered over the other Pokémon, dwarfing them in size. And as if an invisible bell rang out, the battle had began.
Fighting type energy surrounded the Grimmsnarl, Bulk Up, whilst Furfrou shot out, landing a Headbutt squarely on Crystal, who seemed to take hardly any damage, but flinched from the hit. Tone had lifted himself into the air, beating his wings as he sent out a wave of fire type energy in a Heat Wave, doing a good amount of damage. The good thing about singing in beeps and boops was that his enemy couldn't hear what move he was calling out for his Pokémon to use.
The Grimmsnarl once again used Bulk Up, now making it a big threat. In a flash of sparks, Furfrou one again shot out, this time at Tone, landing a Wild Charge squarely on his chest, hard enough that Boyfriend physically cringed. But Tone didn't let it slide, as before the Furfrou could return Tone let out a screech that drowned out the music for a few brief moments in a Boomburst. It had hit Crystal but did hardly anything, but the Boom Burst on top of the Wild Charge recoil proved to be too much as Furfrou fainted. It had also hit Grimmsnarl for a good chunk, but the Pokémon quickly munched on a Sirius berry. Psychic energy surrounded Crystal as they finally got off a Calm Mind.
As Furfrou had fainted, Mearest gave him a smile, half encouraging, half sending another shiver down Boyfriend's spine. She sent out her Gardevoir, whom instantly locked onto her targets.
Tone had landed on the ground, feathers ruffled and loose as he used Roost, but it would be futile. The Grimmsnarl hardly gave Tone time to get up from the Roost before it shot forward at breakneck speed, fairy type energy concentrating into a powerful Spirit Break. The force of the hit sent Tone flying, eventually slamming into a pillar fainted. Boyfriend recalled him with a frown.
Mearest's Gardevoir managed to get a Focus Blast on Crystal, but it didn't do much. Crystal glowed with energy, powering up before sending out a moonblast at the Grimmsnarl. It made its mark, and the super effective hit was enough to take him down.
Boyfriend turned to Girlfriend, giving her a warm smile in thanks, which she returned. Boyfriend then sent out Rio, her red feathers fitting in with the Holliday decor. With a malicious smile, Dearest sent out a Gengar, it's tongue sticking out as it gave an eerie laugh.
For a brief moment, Boyfriend had hope. He and Girlfriend had at least three Pokémon left, with Dearest and Mearest having two. But that hope was quickly snuffed out like a feeble candle as the telltale sign of the light of a keystone shone around both of the opposing Pokémon.
As the light dissipated it left two mega Pokémon in its wake. Boyfriend had just barely managed to defeat just the mega Gardevoir, how were they supposed to beat two full health mega Pokémon?
---
"Hey, guys. Check out what's happenin' down there!"
Pico glanced over at Darnell, who was looking down the balcony railing at the first floor. Beside him, Nene rolled her eyes, "what, someone lit the tree on fire?" She walked over, her Bisharp, carrying a whole store's worth of shopping bags, following by her side, and looked down.
Pico followed suit with Aggy lumbering behind, and he was surprised to say the least. Below was Boyfriend, along with whom he could only assume was his new girl, facing down the big boss himself and his wife. He chuckled at the sight. "Well, they're fucked for sure."
As Nene and Darnell started placing bets, the ginger's gaze landed on the crowd, something felt off. Maybe it was just his paranoia talking, but something felt wrong.
He searched the crowd for any sign if what was giving him this sinking feeling. He was about to give up and just continue to watch the battle, when a flash of red caught his eye. His grip on the railing tightened, his knuckles turning white as his breathing grew short. From the edge of the crowd, a pair of eyes stared right back at his. A pair of familiar, sickly yellow eyes, shaded by a torn red cloak.
A hand came down on his shoulder, causing him to flinch hard, making the hand retract. He snapped his head around to see Darnell giving him a concerned look. "you okay man? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Pico let out a shaky breath, and Aggy gave a concerned rumble, nudging his side gently with her head. He patted the metal plating of her head as he turned back to look off the balcony again. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine."
---
They couldn't hold on for much longer. Both were one hit away from loosing.
At some point, Crystal had been knocked out, leaving Girlfriend to send out Rosie. The mega Gengar and Gardevoir had hardly a scratch on them, whilst Rio and Rosie were on their last legs. Dearest gave a haunting, mocking laugh. "What's wrong? Can't handle a real battle?" Dearest rolled his eyes and gave a huff, "and here I was, thinking that this would be an exciting fight, but all I got was a weak little show."
Before Boyfriend could shoot back at him, an eerie chill settled into the building, causing him to shiver, and he could even see his breath clouding in the cold. Looking over, he could see the others notice it as well.
Overhead, the lights begain to flicker erratically to a point were it was hurting his eyes. The flashing stopped, only to be replaced by a much brighter light than normal, accompanied by a high pitched buzzing noise, just a few seconds before the whole building was plunged into darkness alongside the sound of lightbulbs shattering.
Boyfriend let out a beep of alarm at the sudden loss of vision. He felt the beak of Rio nudge his leg, so at least he wasn't alone. "Boyfriend? You still there?" He beeped out to Girlfriend in the general direction he last saw her, and before long he felt a hand brush against his arm, quickly latching on. He heard fabric rustling around before the faint light of Girlfriend's phone screen lit up their faces, both letting out a sigh of relief.
"What happened to the light?" She leaned in closer to him, as if there might be something lurking in the shadows. Both Rio and Rosie were in high alert as Boyfriend shrugged, hiding the subtle tremors in his arms.
Above them, a low humming sound rang out across the mall as a single light came back on, casting an eerie glow. Soon, more lights slowly came on, having that same purplish red light. Around them, there was not a single person in sight, and Girlfriend suddenly let out an ear piercing scream.
Jumping from the noise and looking over. In front of them, the once vibrant Christmas tree was now covered in gory decorations that made their stomachs churn. Bits of flesh hung up like ornaments, intestines wrapped around like a macabre tinsel, and atop the tree was a severed head that looked exactly like Girlfriend, still bleeding from where the neck would have been attached to a body. All around them, the mall was now covered in blood and gore to varying degrees, from puddles of blood to what Boyfriend could only assume was something rotting in a trashcan. Bits of the mall had seemingly broken off, floating around and revealing a swirling, purple void underneath.
A low, deep laughter brought the two's attention back to in front of them, and there stood a figure that hadn't been there before. It's body was pure black, seemingly to constantly shift between being fuzzy and being smooth. It's figure looked starved and malnourished, ribs clear against the skin. And where a head should be was a large charti berry, along with two bloodshot eyes that seemingly lacked eyelids, and an uncannily large mouth, full of teeth giving an unsettling smile.
The set of speakers begain to let out a harsh static noise, before starting a low, ominous tune, and the creature begain to hum along as it slowly stalked forward.
"Your skin is freezing, here let me help you take it off."
Boyfriend stiffened, readying himself as he sang back. Rio and Rosie, dispite being in critical condition, stood in front of the couple, ready to defend as Girlfriend rummaged through her purse for any healing items.
"Feasting with your friends, what a perfect way to end," the floor cracked beneath the two "all these lonely Holliday, la la la la~"
As Boyfriend beeped back, the crack in the floor suddenly grew, splitting the ground apart as Boyfriend and Girlfriend were separated and the ground begain to levitate, with the opposites' Pokémon ending up with them. The floating pieces of land quickly became too far apart for Rio to glide between with her injured wing, leaving her stranded with Girlfriend, and too far apart for Rosie to try and use her whip like vines to swing between, so she was stranded with Boyfriend. The splitting terrain proved to be nothing to the monster, as it's limbs seemingly elongated as it stalked on all fours across them towards Boyfriend.
"Gonna take a piece of your rabies, and vivisect your mind."
The monster now loomed over Boyfriend and Rosie, black liquid dripping from its mouth as what he could only assume as drool. Rosie fired out a Sludge Bomb from its one rose, the attack seemingly did nothing but cause the creature to somewhat recoil with what looked like a grimace of annoyance.
"Snowman smiling with your teeth, fallen angels created... with your meat!"
Cold dread filled Boyfriend as it continued to come closer. Not wanting to get anywhere near that thing, he quickly looked around for some form of escape route. Spotting nearby debris that looked big enough to stand on, he beeped at Rosie, hoping that for once that Ms. 'I'm above everyone else' would listen to him. Thankfully, she seemed to understand that this was likely their only way out, and used her vines to quickly pull a peice of debris close enough to jump on.
The air whipped around them as they maneuvered across the broken building, Boyfriend almost falling off as when he stepped on this one piece as gravity seemed to shift, leaving him running sideways on the wall. The monster grew increasingly agitated as it sped after them.
"Cut, in a thousand slices. Bake you 'till golden brown."
Rosie pulled another chunk of debris close, leaping onto it as gravity turned normal on it.
"Stuff you with spices~"
Another big jump, his feet just barely skimming the edge.
"Serve to friends around!"
Just a few more jumps, his heart beating so fast it felt like it was going to burst out of his chest.
"Separate, you from your eyes. Turn your girlfriend inside out, and burn her fingernails. La la la la~"
Boyfriend and Rosie were now just one jump away from Girlfriend and Rio, who had been cheering them on as they went through the impromptu parkour course. He crouched down, and leaped as far as he could. He felt gravity rush up, but his feet never touched the ground as his foot just hardly made it, but slid off the edge.
As his hand grazed the edge, a hand shot out in an attempt to grab him, but he was falling too fast.
This is how he's going to die, isn't he? Closing his eyes in hopes that it would be over soon, his body jerked as a pair of arms caught him. Opening them, he saw Girlfriend trying her hardest to fly them both back up to the floating isle, her wings uncloaked and straining with the effort.
As soon as she got close enough, Rosie's vines shot out, helping to pull them up over the edge. Both panting from the adrenaline, and Girlfriend mostly from the effort and strain of suddenly flying after not using her wings in a long while. An angry growl sounded out from right behind them.
"Soak your hands in freezing water. Watching as the skin gets softer."
The couple scrambled back as jaws snapped at right where they would have been.
"See your bones appear in dark red snow. Drop further below."
Rosie sent another Sludge Bomb out, this one landing squarely in the creature's mouth, leaving it coughing and sputtering. The ground below them started shifting again, some pieces falling back into place, and the area around them and the tree connecting back together. The monster glared at them with anger and hunger, the black drool still flowing from its mouth as it lunged forwards at them.
The sound of something being sliced made them all freeze.
The Christmas groaned, and started to creak as it begain to fall.
The two were pulled backwards out of the way as the tree fell upon the momster. And as it fell on it, in the blind of an eye, everything was back to normal, other than the fallen tree ontop of a puddle of black ooze that seemed to be what remained of the monster. Looking back, Boyfriend saw that it was Mearest's Gardevoir that had pulled them back, with a concerned pair of Girlfriend's parents running up to them.
"Are you two okay?" Mearest held Girlfriend's face in her hands as she checked her daughter over. "You two were gone after the lights went back on, and the lights went out again and here you are!"
Before they could answer, a shout rang out across the mall.
"What IS that?!"
Looking back at the tree, they saw something floating above the still standing half. It was very small, and looked like it was made out of white, orange and yellow paper.
Notes:
Hmmmm I wonder who's that Pokémon.....
Chapter 8: Author's note
Chapter Text
Hey guys, so uhm, yeah. I think I got burn out of this AU. It was probably a mix of exams coming up and feeling like shit for not uploading a new chapter for like 2 months.
I'm not completely abandoning this fic/AU, I'll still occasionally write something for this AU or another chapter (I've actually got like the majority of the next chap written). And hey, if u do like this AU, I've got a Tumblr that I've been using for about 2-3 months now, so if you want u could like, send an ask about this AU and stuff.
But yeah, till next time folks
Update: I've decided to fully put this on hiatus. As much as I was proud of this fic, it was made early on of me developing this au, so a lot of lore had changed. I plan to re-write this in the future hopefully in a new fic
