"Still up for band practice at my place after school?" Joel asks during lunch.
"Wouldn't miss it!" Jimmy responds excitedly.
"Yeah, yeah..." Grian says, clearing distracted.
"Grian, did you forget to take your meds this morning?" Jimmy asks, half joking, half concerned.
"What? No." Wait, did he? No, he definitely did. And he was even listening, kinda. However, he was also focused on the one thing his adhd meds couldn't really help with. The guy at the table not to far from that of the bad boys, his crush, one Scar Goodtimes. Yep, he was hopelessly in love with the guy. At least it's good song writing inspiration.
"G, why haven't you asked him out yet, it's not like it's hard," Joel says, both annoyed and amused.
"Easy for people like you to say. You have more confidence than you deserve, (Joel exaggerates an offended look) of course you managed to get the closest thing humans have to an anime girl without it being too weird."
"Come on, Grian, it's not even funny anymore. You've wrote more songs about pinning after him than I can count, maybe you should start writing songs about being with the guy."
"Yeah, maybe," Grian says, distracted again (I wonder what's distracting him hmmmmm).

It's band practice, and The Bad Boys are hard at work in Joel's basement. Grian is playing electric guitar, Joel is on drums, and Jimmy's on bass. They all sing, although it's mostly Joel and Grian. They practice the songs they wrote, (including one about Scar).
eventually they decide they've been practicing long enough, so they head up stairs to eat some of Joel's mom's homemade bread (god that stuff is good) and Grian and Jimmy go home.

When Grian gets home, he sees his stepsister, Pearl. He almost forgot it was Friday and that she would be here. Grian lives with his mom and stepdad, but on weekends, he gets to see his stepsister, Pearl. She's two years younger than him (13) and is joining him in high school next year.
Despite having friends as close as The Bad Boys, Grian would be lying if he said Pearl wasn't his closest friend in life. There was nothing the two didn't know about each over. This included Grian's crush on Scar, and Pearl's girlfriend, Gem. It was always a good day when Pearl was around.
"Hey, Griba! Where were you?"
"Oh, just band practice. I'm probably going to try writing some songs later."
"Songs about Scar?"
Grian sighs.
"Probably."
"Grian, I'm dating someone and you're not and it's pathetic. When are going to actually do something?"
"I don't know."
"Well, I bet you can't ask him out this next Friday."
Ah.
Oof.
"Is that a challenge?"
"Maybe."
Pearl knows he can't resist a chance to prove her wrong. He can't just not accept.
"Well then, I accept."
