Chapter 1: Experiment 2189 - Grimwalker - Observation 1

It turns out the conversation into a living toy will be much more simple. It’s power source (scientists asking questions to it about the components of the being, 2189 said with hesitation that the “heart” is a galdorstone and not giving anymore information about what that is.) can allow the being to come to life even if put in an inanimate object, along with the other essential parts of course. Other organs and/or items being listed below:
Lungs- Stonesleeper. When at rest the being appears not to be breathing, not necessarily important for staying alive, and especially good for the toy part of its existence.
Heart- Already explained to be a galdorstone, extremely high power source, very essential for life.
Human DNA- There is only one bone in the individual that is of human variety. The grimwalker not speaking anything about the reason of that being the case, will look further into it.
Skin- Up close it seems to be scaly, like fish or snakes. The being says it’s Selkidomus scales that can withstand boiling water, we tested that and it seems to be the case.
Basic Structure- A wood variety that is also a main component of its life, 2189 saying it’s specifically Palistrom Wood.
Most of the components do not exist in this world, and the being makes it very clear it’s not from another planet in this universe, as well making it clear it’s not from this universe but rather another. Although, it’s not giving anymore information on that.
Chapter 2: Experiment - 2189 - Grimwalker/Hunter - Observation 2

2189 has been proven to be quite interesting. It sometimes makes us say its name when referring to it, that name being “Hunter.” Although wanting to be known as a person and trying to “stand up” and rebel, 2189 is also deathly scared. Signaled by downturned ears and heavy breathing when coming into contact with us. It seems to be very worried about failure to complete tasks.

“Hunter” has lately become more and more fearful. Whimpering and waking up in the middle of the night, ears downward and compressed around our scientists. We are still uncertain about whether we will continue with the simple observations or when we will start the conversion phase.
Chapter 3: Experiment - 2189 - Grimwalker/Hunter - Observation 3

Animal-like tendencies and features are becoming more prone as we observe, growling, whining, purring, immaculate sight and hearing, larger carnies, and the previously mentioned ears turning downward when scared, similar to dogs.
There are many scars on 2189, most covering large areas. When questioned it refuses to answer. We do know most of it was from abuse by someone close to it, coming to that conclusion based on the recordings during nightmares, it quietly begging for “uncle” to stop.

Considering there will not be any consequences with experiment 2189 we decided to let it choose what it as a toy will look like. The paper we provided, it will not speak on its own terms, it wrote what is wished. We are curious whether this will change how it acts around us and other toys.
2189 wrote the following:
I want to still look like me. I like wolves, reading, my friend Flapjack **small drawing of hunter’s bird friend, with an arrow pointing at it with the words “red cardinal”** sewing.
I don’t trust you,
use this with what you will.
Most was vague, stating things it liked, and not any description besides “I want to still look like me.” Some was written with hesitation and one sentence was scratched out to where it’s unintelligible.
Chapter 5: Experiment - 2189 - Grimwalker/Hunter - Observation 5

Our design department gave us some concepts of 2189. The one we chose was based on a red wolf. The manufacturing team will start producing the body.
The transition was relatively easy, it has yet to wake up from the procedure. Will update soon.
When it awoke it panicked as any other, murmuring under its breath and trying to tear out the hair that would normally be there. It was also noted that it would try biting and clawing at itself, most likely self-harm was inflicted by it before.
It settled after 1 hour and 27 minutes, curled up in the bed we provided. No further notes.
Chapter 6: Experiment - 2189 - Grimwalker/Hunter - Observation 6

2189 stated it enjoys reading so we supplied it with a journal and a book on wolves. We kept note it did not move from the spot on the bed and stayed staring at the pages. The book was 274 pages and when it finished it in 4 and a half hours, much faster than average, it turned the pages all the way back to the beginning to reread it. We like to assume the reason is that there is nothing else to read, but it can also be very interested in the subject.
When 2189 did take notice of the journal we left, it started writing.
The journal contents stated:
They left a journal for me. I assume they will read this though, maybe it's best to leave it empty. But it gets so quiet here, it gets so... empty. I already read that wolf book twice, I'm going to get bored of it eventually. So as long I have something to do to spend time, I guess it's fine. Well, it's not fine but... I can't really do anything about it now.

Chapter 7: Experiment - 2189 - Grimwalker/Hunter - Observation 7

We have stopped supplying the usual rations for 2189, now using the remains of terminated workers and failed experiments. It makes me sick. When we first placed in it's room, it had just stared at it. The scent and look might have made it worried and/or confused at the different "food."
It was left alone for 21 hours until 2189 properly looked at it.
It wrote in the journal:
The "food" they gave me. It feels so wrong to just eat THAT I don't want to. It's not… I can’t just… it was someone, it was someone who did something to make these people mad. It probably wasn't even bad, it was probably something that would've changed things for the better, that would've stopped this suffering. I... am so hungry though. They are not going to even give me something else to eat. IT FEELS SO SO SO WRONG TO DO THIS! I DON'T WANT TO! IT IS MORALLY WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!!! I... am so hungry.
At 4:52 AM 2189 woke up and gave in, and started to eat the "food" we set out. Over time it always ends up consuming the remains only skipping a few of the meals.
2189 has become more ravenous when eating more of the remains, so it might be best to turn back to the usual rations.

Seven months after 2189’s conversion into a toy, it’s being much more well-behaved. Compliance with us and now answering questions more thoroughly, for some examples. We are considering making 2189 another mascot for Playtime Co., it will depend on how it acts around the children.
2189’s experience with one kid (Aiden - a 12-year-old boy) 2189 reacted very kindly and empathetic towards Aiden, not being too shy around 2189. We conclude that 2189 will stay gentle towards the other children, and we may add 2189 (presumably starting to call it “Hunter” from now on in the marketing phase) to the main cast of toys and will become a well-loved plushie. The marketing team will likely figure out other ways to advertise as well.
2189 journal entry:
They have kids here. They shouldn't be here, why are they here, are they hurting, too?? Aiden is such a sweet boy, he doesn't deserve this, and none of the others either! I feel so helpless, I can't even get decent sleep. I never could, and especially not anymore now that I know there are kids here! I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to be one. I really hope they are at least. Let them be kids while they still are!

Five months after the last log: Allowing “Hunter”(2189) ended in success. 2189 is friendly towards the children and whenever we need it, it is always obedient.
Before it was showing much discomfort in its body, the marketing team suggested some form of clothing that would help with catching the consumer’s eye. Figuring it could work, we humored them. It did in fact help with the discomfort of 2189, resulting in much more interaction with the kids.
The whole brand with Hunter is a much more enthusiastic version of 2189, with the same likes, scars, and personality. We also now have started brainstorming book stories, the work-in-progress name “Hunter and Friends”
Journal contents:
I actually still can’t believe I have a whole library! It’s so homey? Maybe that isn’t the right word, but nevertheless, it does it’s purpose and I do mine. I take care of the books, be as welcoming as possible, and try to help the kids. They have counselors sure, but I don’t know… sometimes you get stuck with people not wishing for your best interest, I know what they’re dealing with anyway. I do help though! I know that! Some kids come to me instead, I listen to them, I give some advice, and they even say I help way better than their counselors! No one really deserves the stuff happening to them, especially not losing their parents, but I’m just glad I can help, that’s all.
They
kept asking me who these kids are, I’m not telling. Never telling them. Never, never, never. They can keep this away from me, they can hurt me, they can do whatever the fuck they’d like! I. AM.

Hunter has been very profitable. The plushie is well-loved and so is the library section of Playcare. The picture book Hunter and Friends has also seen extreme pleasure from consumers and children. We’ve expanded onto the universe and toys. A red cardinal bird, Flapjack, stuffed animal based on 2189’s statement of the bird, which it seems to greatly enjoy having around and cuddling.
When interacting with the other toys it has been quite friendly towards and likes to spend time with them, mainly Kissy Missy and the Smiling Critters.
Journal Contents:
I don’t enjoy my time here but I have made my peace with it. They won’t let me go back home, but they also don’t let anyone else leave. I’m not alone here unlike… That place. But it does suck not having…
I should just stop. I should just stop thinking about them. I’m not getting out, I’m never getting out. They don't know I’m here, they probably think I’m dead…again. I’m just going to stop, try to get my mind off all of this.
