Summary
Against all odds, there was no exhaustion lingering in his half-lidded stare. It seemed that his worry over the sinner had trumped any desires he might have had to sleep and Lucifer couldn’t say that he regretted the decision. Not when the air between them was warm and heavy with static and smelled of green earth and apples, his wings cocooning everything that they were close to their bodies. He couldn’t complain, either. Especially when it meant he could catch every oblivious sigh that left thin, smiling lips and the rustle of a long, slender ear flicking this way and that as it chased imaginary sounds. The angel’s back was to the closed curtains and when he wasn’t intent on naming the shades of the shadows that adorned the contours of the demon’s face, he was peeking through the ends of his primary feathers at the filtered view they allowed of his bedroom door.
