Work Text:

"So why are we doing this again," Finn grumbled from the hold.
"He is a potential practical source of knowledge about the Force," Rey reiterated the response she had given when they first boarded the Millennium Falcon that morning.  "In addition, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about the Force from an unbiased party."
"And why is he here again," gesturing his head towards the black-clad tauntaun in the hold sitting across the holochess board from him.
"I needed a co-pilot--"

"Oh, is that what we're calling it now," Rose interjected from the co-pilot seat.
"--in case, we ended up heading into Wild Space. And, yes, I did ask for Dameron, but he said something about not wanting to be a 'fifth wheel,' whatever that meant."
"She's upset that we ruined the training room. Again."
"I'm not upset," Rey said, rubbing her head for the umpteenth time since taking flight from Takodana.
"She's just disappointed," Rose added with barely tempered mirth.
"One of my many specialties," Ben murmured as he looked over the Dejarik board between him and Finn.
"Aren't you a prodigy or something? Can't you just pick up another specialty other than that? Like taking less than 10 minutes to make a move." Finn grumbled.
"I've been told that self-reflection is crucial for redemption."
"And that includes Dejarik?"
"Uncertain, since this is now," Ben paused, moving a piece across the holochess board, watching it promptly decimate six of Finn's remaining pieces. "My fifth win in a row." He smirked.
"Kriffing hell, this because I won the last sparring match. Isn't it?"
"You didn't win, it was draw."
"If drawing means falling on your ass and losing your saber."

As they bickered, Rose leaned over to Rey. "I still think they should kiss."
"Rose, they're cousins," she hissed, glancing back at the last two members of the Skywalker clan. "Also, he's..."
"Your's?"
"We are not anything! We're just taking--"
"Slow walks in the forest and coming back with weird bruises?"
"We're training! And I thought you and Finn were together again?"
Rose waved her hand dismissively. "We are, but I'm not blind. Besides, Ben has tits almost as good as mine."
Rey looked back at Ben and then back to Rose's assets. "Fair, but again they're cousins--"
"Didn't you hear that General Leia and her brother used to be very close?" Rose waggled her eyebrows. "And besides, think how much we could get on the holonet for pics of them."
"...how much?"
The Falcon's nav system began to beep before Rose could appeal to Rey's scrapper instincts.
"What was that?"
Rose immediately turned back to the helm. "There seems to be a ship trying to contact us," her fingers flew across the helm as she looked out the viewport. "But, that doesn't make sense I don't see anything."
"You can feel it, can't you?" Ben said.
"What are you talking--" Rose started.
"Not you," he said exasperatedly, turning to face Finn. "This is good practice, just reach out--"
The ship rocked with a heavy solid thunk above them.
"Or we wait for them to come aboard."

Small metallic thunks echo down the hall as they stand in wait.
"What exactly do you know about this Jedi?"
"He's not Jedi, he was a former student of my uncle. He decided to not pursue the Jedi path."
"Wait, so he's a Sith."
At this, Ben let out a long-suffering sigh. "No, Miss Tico. The path of someone using the Force is not binary---"
"Why do you keep calling me Miss Tico. I have a name; it's Rose."
"The last time, I called you that, you threatened to 'rip my kriffing balls off and sell them on the dark holonet.'"
At this, Rose looked at Finn and Rey.
"You did threaten him with that," Rey shrugged.
"It was a bit more descriptive; I think you mentioned using them for some kind of testicle soup and feeding them to him." Finn added.
"We tried telling him that waking you without offering caf was a horrible idea."
"That sounds about right," she said, turning back to Ben. "I redact that previous demand; you are allowed to call me Rose."
"Truly magnanimous of you."
"I know, right."
The metallic clanking echoed louder until a small beskar-armored figure, barely half of Rose's not significant height, was standing in front of them.
Silence.
Rey steps forward. "Thank you for meeting with us, Master Grogu."
At this, the figure raised an armored-clad three-fingered hand. "I am not Master Grogu. I am Din Grogu and I heard you were looking for me."
