Thanks For Writing It For Me Guys

Summary:

This was a short story written in Frantic Fanfic regarding two characters from my FusionFall Fan Fic series 'Fusion, Iron, and Glory'. Check out this cute date between a (relatively) popular ship between two familiar teenage Powerpuff characters! (Age range around 18-19).

Work Text:

Boomer's hand tugged at his sweater, feeling the cool breeze of winter. However, given that his powers were similar to the girls, it felt just like a nip in the air rather than anything. Even still, he had Bubbles by his side to make everything so much better. The two of them radiated warmth naturally together, their arms interlinked. Her touch was gentle, while his was holding onto her like it was protection.

The government building had been covered in a fresh blanket of frost, including a new layer actively snowing onto it right now. The sun and Planet Fusion were nowhere to be seen with the sky painted in a dull gray. It looked lame, though the mystical breeze of snow gave it an angelic feeling.

Boomer's breath fogged as he let out a sigh, calmly walking beside her on the street. City Hall had been free from monsters for some time now, leaving them some much-deserved quality time together.

"What did you think of the Christmas party?" he asked, offering up some small talk. "Did you get what you wanted with the gift exchange?"

Bubbles flashed him a warm grin, looking up into his eyes as her cheeks turned red. "Yeah! It was great. And yes, your gift was so cute, Boomer. I loved it~"

A hand poked at his stomach through the sweater. Boomer let out a chuckle, pleasantly sighing.

"I'm glad!" he answered, hugging at her even tightly. "Say, why don't we go grab a bite to eat? I'm starvin' here!"

"Sounds good, Boomybear~"

The two grabbed a bite from Stick Its, a restaurant that sold food on a stick. Bubbles suggested that she wanted to watch the sunset and Boomer had an idea. He took her hand as he floated off the ground. She followed him into the air and they both flew up high until they were within the vacuums of space where, when Bubbles turned to her left, she got a clear view of the sun in all its glory as it shined its ultraviolet rays onto her face.

They watched the sun while they ate their food on a stick and even though it was no longer a setting sun, it was a much more glorious sight.

Boomer: "Hey, I got an idea."

Bubbles responded with a; "Hm?"

After they finished eating their food and drinking their bottle of Total Soda, they flew towards the sun, landing on its surface. It was an inferno but just the fires of the sun bounced off their feet, only giving Boomer and Bubbles a slight tickle each time.

Boomer asked; "Are you ready?"

Bubbles then answered; “Yes!” with glee in her eyes.

The two then danced along the sun’s surface, flying in and out of the waves of molten plasma that emanated from it. They flew around each other in a spiral, going faster and faster and closer to each other as Bubbles had her back to the sun while Boomer was watching her eyes, and ignoring the celestial object behind her.

For all he cared, her eyes were brighter than any star.

And soon, they left the sun's surface and went back to Earth, but not quite. They chose to sit down on the moon and watch it from afar. The light was reflecting off of the Earth and shining on the moon, just like it reflects off of the moon when you're on Earth, and was illuminating the entire dry, rocky landscape, as well as the space around them, in a warm and calming blue.

"I didn't realize how beautiful it was from up here," Boomer admitted.

"The view is really nice, but I prefer to see the world from up close rather than from this far away." Bubbles told him.

"I'm not talking about the Earth, silly. I'm talking about you."

"You're such a dork!" Bubbles told him and they both laughed. "I can't believe you said that! That was so cheesy!"

"Yeah, I know." Boomer awkwardly scratched his head. "But it's not like I didn't mean it."

And the two of them spent the rest of their evening taking a long walk, not a flight, across the surface of the moon, with the Earth shining down upon them.

Notes:

The context behind this was that I set up a Frantic Fanfic session with the FusionFall Fan Fic group, and jokingly someone mentioned writing about a ship from my fic. At first, it was a laugh, and then I thought, 'You know what? Yeah, let's do it!'

Someone else wanted me to post it, so I waited until I had some free time around Valentine's Day to do it just for fun. I figured it would fit perfectly for the holidays! (Even though Christmas was mentioned, LOL)
