Chapter 1: Forgotten

Chapter Text

Remember me when I am gone away,

         Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

Remember by Christina Rossetti

The World moved on, that's what it always did.

But Bucky Barnes wasn't the same man he was 100 years ago. He was different now. He went through hell, came out the other side. Whatever the other side. If it wasn't for Shuri or  Tony Stark Barf, he had no idea where he would be.  Yes he still wasn't working through things, and as annoying as his therapist was, it helped. Hell even Sam Wilson, a now close friend helped.

The Point was, he knew what it was like for someone to brain wash him. And moment he felt it again, he was pissed. Something was off, and the world seem out of focus. He Pulled out his Starkphone and thumbed through the contacts.  Part of him wanted to call Sam but he was busy with being Cap. And he didn't have mind messed with. He could call Shuri, but after her brother died, she knew it was hard for them.

His mind went through people that could be around.

His apartment was in Brooklyn, after everything he wanted to stay at home, even through it was different. And one person he knew was always around was that kid. That Spider kid..

Whoa is that metal arm?!?! That's So COOL!!!!

He let out a chuckle of that memory. He saw the spider once or twice but never with out the mask. He knew how a identity was important so he never asked. But he had feeling that he was a kid. He looked out for his fellow Brooklyn resident. He got the number from the kid after  running into him. Reminding the kid if he needed anything to call him. Spiderman said he should do the same before swinging away.

It was till year or so when he learn the true name of Spiderman. Peter Parker, thanks to that psycho fishbowl guy. And When he reached out Peter said he was okay. That he had his aunt and .. well that was last time he heard of him. So why couldn't he find the word Peter on his contacts. He had good memory now, he pride himself on that...

But instead of Peter it was now just Spiderman. Bucky felt weird feeling. He pressed the number than went to his Messager.

Hey Kid, its Barnes, wanted to check up on you?

Peter didn't respond, which in it self was weird. Bucky remembered the text after text after text he would get. The what he called "memes" he would send to Bucky. And Bucky would send it to Sam making Sam confused. Which always just made himself laugh. But now, it was nothing. No text, no  sign that showed that he read it.

Bucky ran his metal hand through his hair and frowned. Something was still wrong. IF he couldn't get hold of Peter, maybe he was in trouble?  His thoughts were pushed away at the sound of meow.  He blinked his head titled seeing his pure what cat on the floor meowing at him.

He swore as he remembered he almost forgot to make her breakfast, well give her breakfast1. He made mental note to call Sam about Peter later before turning to his cat who was giving the best death glare.

"You know that doesn't work on me Alpine1111' he mused a smile dawned his face. He shuffled to where the cat food and started to get ready after feeding the pleading cat.

--- Time Skip---------

" Who the hell is Peter, do you mean that Space guy" he heard Sam exclaimed, his voice was full of confusion.

"Funny you know, Peter, the spider who stop metal arm" he trailed off. A frowned appeared on his face before he sighed He heard silence followed by.

' I know Spiderkid but I don't know much about him" .. and that was that.

It took hour later for them to end the call as somehow they were fighting for Wizards again. As amusing as that is he decided to go searching for the kid. instead.

Using a computer wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. But asking whatever the webrowser who Peter Parker was.. and nothing coming up.. was weird enough.

Instead he did what a former spy does best, field work. He walked out of library and decided to maybe walk around. Maybe this way he would find him. Okay it wasn't the best idea but he really needed to find the kid.

It wasn't till few hours later when he was walking past the local graveyard he heard a noise, it sounded like someone crying and he was curious as it was getting late.

His eyes scanned the grave stones to see a figure in front of somewhat new grave.

The figure was hutched forward and shivering. A sob escaped .. him? He was sure it was a kid. He paused as he strained to hear the other spoke.

"Peter.. Peter Parker" Bucky asked softly, not to scare the other, his heart broke when peter looked at him.

Even through it was getting dark, he could see Peters face. Red and puffy eyes, tired look on the older teens face.

" You... You remember me" Peter let out a breathless sob.

Bucky frowned again,  " who can forget someone who literally stop my arm and said it was cool" he was joking maybe it would help little? He sucked at feelings sometimes.

"No.." Peter croaked, he shivered again. ' Nobody is suppose to remember me" his voice got so small, and so.. defeated.

" Well that's not going to happen, Shuri helped me sort of protect my mind from... that.." he felt like maybe it was brain washed. But nobody remembered the kid. And it broke his heart.

Peter didn't know what to say, the poor kid look so defeated and.. His body went limped.

Bucky ran to catch him, Peter was light.. He was going to get bottom of his.

Nobody deserved to have their mind played with.. certainly not a kid.
